Sorry I'm not replying with an answer.

On kitkat it was connected sync loop but now on lollipop it is only connected but i didn't find ajy difference in both, the watch is working in the same manner as it used to be on kitkat

i changed rom, and now says connected . i was on cyano . hope this helps..

found the problem
i founded the solution. you have to deactivate dev options from phone. then turn off bluetooth and then says connected

Yup that works.. But Google should fix that soon as in most of phones the Dev options are always on..

Basically means USB debugging is turned on..

It's not broken though, As long as you have USB Development options on it will use the Android Wear app notification to show more verbose status messages.

There's nothing to fix there... That shows when you enable developers options.
No impact on the phone or watch battery or performance whatsoever.
Even without developer options enabled, that's what's happening, AW is running a sync loop to constantly update the watch information (cards and apps).
Cheers!

In my case, when the notification says "connected, running sync loop", my battery goes down so quickly (in my phone and in my watch).
My solution: I disable developer options (at this moment i dont need it) and all works nice.

This is probably due to the Android Wear app updating the notification with the current status of the watch, resulting in more wake-ups than normal (could definitely be wrong here, but that seems the most logical to me.), best way to fix it is indeed to turn off developer options.

I've tested and on my devices there is absolutely NO DIFFERENCE in the battery consumption with both cases.
It's just a different way of writing the current state.

Exactly, there's no difference in battery at all. It's just different wording of the same state.
With developer options enabled ir disabled, the phone is in a constant sync loop with the watch for it to work properly.
Cheers ?

After this night, i bring my results.
I have activated dev options, and my phone says "Connected, running sync loop". I went to sleep at 2am and the watch battery was 82% and phone battery was 71%. When i woke up, my watch was off and my phone has 22%. I looked at the battery graphic and in the first position was Bluetooth.

Disable GPS warning "Data transmission charges may apply"

is there a way to turn this notification off? i have SMS GPS installed to turn gps on via text and "Gps my droid" installed to tell me my phone location (via text) once its on. if i lose my phone and GPS cant be enabled without pushing the button, what good is it? also, if someone steals the phone its not likely that they're going to agree to turn it on once they realize theres been text messages sent to turn it on. help!
theres gotta be a discrete way of turning off the notification so i can track someone down if they steal it!
so i guess theres no way to do it?

That notification comes from the system or from the application?
I get no confirmation message when I turn on the GPS on my X10.
If the app itself produces this notification, then you should contact the developer,
because you are right, it renders the application useless.
good question but my phone is rendering the confirmation/notification, not the application. every time i turn on GPS, no matter how i still get the agree/disagree disclaimer. even if i go directly into the phone settings under location and security and try to enable it still says "data transmission charges may apply. anonymous data will be collected when an application uses GPS. Agree or Disagree"
im kinda shocked that yours doesnt say it. what rom are you using? im on 2.1 update 1 global and rooted.

Maybe you can leave the GPS on...
If no application is using it, it won't affect your battery. And you can always know if it's in use from the flashing icon in the statusbar.
I am on custom ROM, but I don't remember it happening on stock 2.1 either. I could be wrong though.

usb debugging and unknown sources are checked. but im a little confused by your statement, you said "make sure both boxes are ticked." you mean gps and wireless networks? if so, then thats exactly my point. i need them off during normal use but i want them to turn on via my SMS app. i dont leave them on all the time because of battery draining. the SMS app im using turns on wifi without any notification. but turning on the gps always gives a notification..thats what im trying to alleviate.

Turning on the GPS only (not the wireless network location)
will not drain your battery, unless an app is polling location data.
And if it does, you'll see the GPS icon in the statusbar, it can't happen without you knowing.
So leave GPS on is your best solution.
Or contact the developer of the app to implement a different way of turning on the GPS.

I get this message when enabling it too, every time, it's a system message when activating the gps itself, not through the mobile network, very annoying by the way.
And the same thing happens with data, kinda makes it hard to remotely enable anything on stock rom when your phone is stolen, what were sony thinking?
This will solve your problem.
For Root Explorer, go to /system/app, find "LearningClient.apk," click Mount R/W on the upper right corner, and DELETE this app. (May be risky)
The safest way is to use rom toolbox app manager or Titanium Backup, find "Learning Client 2.1 1.0.0," and FREEZE it.
it's working, but could you tell us what that service doing? I mean "learning client", is it safe to disable it?

Keep WIFI on during sleep

I've been try to extend the life of my battery, and one of the things I have done is set the SETTINGS/WIFI/ADVANCED "keep WIFI on during sleep" to "never".
I make this change, but most times when I go back into the settings later on, it's changed back to "Always"
Anybody offer a clue as to why this might be happening?
Thanks.

no idea mate it shouldn't do as i have mine set to never and it stays like that, have you been flashing ROM's or anything like that maybe that could explain it!
No, not really.
The only thing I've done is rooted it. Apart from that, It's still got stock Samsung Rom on it.
Just checked again, and even tried setting it to "only when plugged in, but after 15 mins or so, it's back to "always" again.

For anyone else who might come across the same issue.
After doing a factory reset, and putting apps back on one at a time, I found out it was DoubleTwist Airsync, that was changing the "WIFI sleep" option.
Apparently, the developer knows this, but wants it to work that way.
So it's now gone for me
But you won't lose too much battery on an 7 hr sleep with the always on setting.
I go to sleep with my S3 on 98% and wake up with 92-94% battery left even with received messages from 3 email accounts and other notifications.
<------------------------------->
Sent from my S3 using Tapatalk
I keep mine on always. I lose 3% during an 8hr sleep and it'll automatically connect to my carrier data when my network is not in range. Sure beats turning it off and on a handful times a day.
Weird is that WiFi is active in either option you shoose during sleep. Even if you choose NEVER, open your battery use stats and you'll see that WiFi was active all the time during sleep. I cannot understand why is this issue so underrated here on XDA forums. Or is it some kind of misinterpreting from my side???

Yup afaik, choosing never will produce a wakelock to check the phone state and keeping it on will cause it to constantly scan even if connected to a network. Both choices will eat up battery.
I see many threads suggesting to just manually turn it off, preventing scanning, wakelocks and syncing all together.

Wifi "sleeping" when screen turns off !?

Just bought the mrs a Galaxy S3, she uses Wifi when at home. All the wifi settings are correct including the advanced ones (from the dialer menu)
melethron said:
Hey,
There was a change in API 12 (Honeycomb and later) with the way "wifi lock" is handled. Even if the sleep policy in settings->wifi->advanced->"Keep wifi on during sleep" is set to "always", wifi will still be in a "low performance mode". This results in throttled speed (f.e: stuttering streaming), high latency (ping your phone) and can even cause disconnects, when the screen is off.
Still this is not bug but a feature of Android and should be addressed by any app that needs full wifi performance. Any app that needs full wifi performance (like streaming or file shearing over wifi) should call for "WIFI_MODE_FULL_HIGH_PERF". This can be found in the official "android developer reference". Before API 12 (honeycomb) an app just needed to call WIFI_MODE_FULL for "wifi lock". If an app isn't coded proberly for honeycomb and ICS and has issue with Wifi performance appart from calling "wifi wake lock", you should report that to the developer of that app.
I still found a simple workaround for scenarious in which this function is not properly called. There is an rather simple widget on google play called "WIFI High Performance Widget". If the widget is enabled, the function WIFI_MODE_FULL_HIGH_PERF is called and the wifi performance is on full speed even when the screen is off. Im not in any way involved in the developement of this app and there might be other apps out there, that could achieve the same (for example: Android Terminal emulator also calls WIFI_MODE_FULL_HIGH_PERF if "wifi lock" is enabled.) Still this widget is the simplest solution i found thus far. Just enable the widget and get full wifi performance when screen is off.
Greetings
melethron

Is there any other way round this apart from the above ? Its really annoying that this hasnt been fixed, my HTC sensation is EXACTLY the same.
We both use whatsapp, and its annoying because if we are on wifi messages don't come through until you turn the screen back on, on 3G whatsapp works perfectly when the screen is turned off its just the wifi.
Above fix doesn't work.

Tried that last night, doesn't work.
Same thing happens on my sensation, desire HD, a friends desire HD..but we have a friend in america who has an Inspire and his wifi works fine when the screen is off :/. So originally I think, ok its an android bug..but they why doesn't he have that issue ? I spent about 5 hours last night searching the internet and there are numerous posts about the wifi issue but no resolution.
Have you tried altering security settings on your router?
which rom are you using ?
Figured it out.
3 Android devices were all having the same issue, I have spent over 15 hours researching and I have finally fixed it.
It was my router, not security settings just a common issue, I have an asus RT-N56U, I have flashed a custom firmware to it and my wifi on android devices is perfect, instant updates from facebook, gmail, whatsapp. A lot of time and testing but i'm glad I finally fixed the issue !
Now to order a nexus 4.......
That does not work. Selecting any of these options does not change and wifi stil off when screen turns off. Happen only on JB but not on ICS. Any fix for that please?

[Q] no push notifications on wifi with KK

I upgraded my phone to KK back in late december and have been on it ever since but one problem has plagued me since then and I'm hoping to get some insight here. heres the problem...
When im connected to wifi (and this is only with wifi, not MD) I don't get my push notifications (gmail,fb,words, hangouts, etc) when the screen is off.Often i turn my screen on and get a barrage of notifications that i should have gotten hours ago. Ive tried all the sleep modes and Ive tried turning off wifi optimization.Nothing works and I know for fact it did not do this on JB.
I DO get text messages and phone calls instantly though but nothing else will wake my phone up. While i do enjoy the deep sleep, i would like to get my notifications in a reasonable amount of time without having to turn the phone on to check them.
Has anyone else had this "problem"?
Nope. Have you looked into what is and isn't checked in your Google Settings? There's a Play Games tab that allows you to mute certain games, essentially stopping their notifications. I don't suppose you've messed with that, have you?
It's strange, I've not really heard of this, especially since you're getting texts and such.

Yeah i know and I've googled it to death for a few months now. I'll check g settings but idk why that would stop gmail. It's like when I'm on Wi-Fi w/ the screen off its just a plain old dumb phone. I turn the screen on and the notifications just flood in.
Edit: nothing in g settings is muted. The only thing i can think of is i don't have app data synced in accounts.
I think i figured it out. I had "sync app data" unchecked in accounts. So far I've been getting notifications screen on and off. Now if someone will just play back to me on wwf...
EDIT: i may have spoke too soon. It still doesnt wake up without turning on my screen

I did when I was using Omni and it worked great. I haven't used it since running RR, however.
So you're wifi connected, and have actively turned mobile data off? I have never even tried that...
If, however, you mean that this happens only when you're connected to WiFi, then no, I have not experienced this issue.
The only other setting that I can think of that pertains to sync is in system settings > Data usage > settings > [ ] auto-sync data, but I don't think that would cause the awake-vs-sleep sync issues that you're describing.
I used to use Active display, I currently use AcDisplay, I'll likely go back to using the baked-in active display.

No i never turn mobile data off. I just meant that notifications come as expected when I'm on mobile data but on Wi-Fi, once the phone hits deep sleep (<a minute) i won't get notifications unless i turn the screen on.
I ask about active display because i remember when on resurrection ROM i was using it and getting notifications then and kind of forgot about it but I'm on PAC 4.4 now and it's doing it again. However i was using the init.d scripts they have baked in but have them all turned back off now to see if that fixes it.
It's the strangest thing I've seen. It's like when I'm on Wi-Fi and turn the screen off it just disconnects from all data even though i can plainly see that it is not. Angela has the same phone with the same settings as mine but on RR 5.0.5 and she gets notifications fine.
@cyril279 I knnow this is off topic but have you tried this AD app? Its got some other features/customizations that aren't on the built in AD
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greatbytes.activenotifications
That was actually one of the first active-display variants that I tried. It worked well, but there were a couple hiccups that kept me shopping. The add-on AD clones have great features, but they don't play well with the stock lockscreen, or they leave the [home] button active, or involve significant lag when evoking the notification. The baked-in clones operate fluidly, but without the cool-stuff. I haven't tried active notifications recently though, maybe the updates have smoothed things out. I'm definitely down to try it again.
AcDisplay's development has been re-directed by Motorola. It's still my favorite of the clones, the beta version is boss, but it still isn't as fluid as the built-in boring-ol Omni AD.

[SOLVED] Not Receiving Notifications on WiFi
My suspicions have paid off!! I started suspecting my router was the culprit so i pulled out my old netgear2400 and hooked it up and low and behold my notifications starting lighting my phone up again!!
The problem was the Xfinity router that came from comcast. Apparently it was closing the "heartbeat" line to stay connected when the screen was off before the heartbeat would send again, if that makes sense.
For the time being I'm going to just use my netgear router BUT I was able to fix the problem with the Xfinity router by using an app called Push Notification Fixer. Just install it, follow the instructions, and set the WIFI/mobile data heartbeat to the recommended settings. If that don't work start shortening the heartbeat time. It'll make sense when you see the app.
Hope this helps someone else along the way. I went a LONG WAY down the google rabbit hole before I figured this one out.
Great news, glad it was an easy fix!

Great news! Now you just need to install DD-wrt on your router and turn it from a $40 router to a $400. I know you like to tinker but check it out. ITs free and its just firmware for certain routers. It turned my old wrt54g into a baus

I'm having the same issue with KitKat CM11 ROM on my HP Touchpad (which is WiFi only), and will have to try this. Notifications come in instantly on my iPhone/iPads, but my Touchpad gets some serious delays...sometimes right away, and sometimes delayed.
By the way, did "Sync App Data" setting for an account have anything to do with push notifications, or is that more for backup purposes?

Oh darn, mine is still delayed even with the push notification fixer installed and WiFi heartbeat at 5min. Even after I've just rebooted my Touchpad, actively using it, and not even 5 minutes has passed. Delay was 8 minutes and then the notifications came streaming in.
With Android/KitKat, do you have to have the app open in the background for push notifications to go thru? Or run the app at least once after a reboot?

Phone disconnects from Wi-Fi in sleep mode

Greetings. I have a problem with my phone and Wi-Fi connection.
My phone is a Sony Xperia J running stock Android 4.1.2. When I leave it for a while in sleep mode, whether charging or not, it disconnects from my Wi-Fi connection and uses my phone's data, draining my data plan.
I need your help concerning this issue. Here are some of my phone's related settings:
Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep: Always.
Avoid poor connections: Unchecked.
Extended Standby Mode: Unchecked.
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: Since then I've disabled my data plan so I can check if my phone is properly connecting to my Wi-Fi or not. It seems that yesterday I had no problem, but today I'm experiencing it. I don't know what should I do. :crying:

Did u use SIPdroid?
If yes uninstall it.
Sent from my OPO using CM14.1 <3
Also make sure that you don't have the battery saver mode on or another app that tries to save battery because they will often interfere and disable that for you as well.

Only other setting I can think of that controls that is in Developer Options. There's one that's aggressive hand off from wifi to cellular data and one for keep data on at all times. If you haven't enabled Developer Options yet then forget I mentioned it as it'll not be on by default.

I have Developer Options enabled and I don't see any of these options there.
Anyway, I think I have found the cause of the problem (a conflicting application, I just did a clean reinstall of it) and so far I'm good, if the problem persists I'll post again.
Thank you everyone who participated in this thread.
Glad to hear that it seems you found the cause. Please let us know what app in case someone else has the same issue and stumbles across your post.
Well, it was WhatsApp. Apparently I had a duplicate APK in my SD card (I use Link2SD) from before the factory reset. I say it was a duplicate because I unlinked WhatsApp from the SD card, but when I uninstalled it it said it was removing it from the SD card.
Thanks again!
