I know n9 is very new and some ppl are still waiting for it.
It's my first nexus device so I don't have any experience with stock Android. (I just owned htc devices in the past)
Will there be some more Roms available in future? I know nobody can tell what will be in the future.
Stupid question but are there any great stock Android Roms? As said before I don't have any experience with stock Android. Just know paranoid android and cyanogenmod for example xD

devs are pouring over many many lines of code. it will happen. this isn't just an updated OS, this is a lot of work for devs that do this for free.

I'm not asking for an eta? It's not my type of style.
I'm just asking if there will be some development as till now there isn't much.
But oki need bit more patience xD.

Third rule of the Dev-Club: If it's a Nexus device you can be pretty sure that many developers will be on it as soon as they have their device.

Good news
The Sony Xperia S is being added to AOSP as the first experimental device:

Check out the dev discussion forum (if you're interested in contributing or just learning how to build a complete ROM from sources (like I am)):

This should really amp up development for our device. :good:
XDA-Developers video mostly musing on why they have chosen to add experimental devices:

Ohh man,
I literally searched General and Android development for "AOSP" and came up with nothing
Maybe cause it's an old post. I'm sorry for failing at search

The Xperia S will get updates directly from Google, just like the Nexus phones.

Not exactly that. For now, it's only a project.
Sent from my LT26i with Tapatalk 2
Indeed. But if it comes to fruition, the idea is that.
The experiment is just to see how difficult it would be to add an unsupported device to AOSP without having to make changes to core components of AOSP. I don't think Google will ever maintain updates for this phone, being in the NXT series from Sony, it comes with their own UI.

A few tweaks will make it fit for XS I guess...

Done a search and there seems to have been very little said about this subject. Would some kind soul with a KFHD please see how extractable the Lovefilm streaming app is, and if it could be made to work on other devices? I'll more than happily be a guinea pig if you were to post it.
Thanks very much.

While we're working on Android 4.1, I thought it would be cool to have a clean AOSP ROM for daily use.
Stay tuned, should have great deal of info by Wednesday.
This is a part of Sakura AOSP Project.

While Android is opensource, not everything needs to be opensource. If a company doesn't want to publisch the board-support-package, they don't have to. At that point, you have to write this bsp yourself.... Which can only be done by reseverse engineering. A company like ST Ericsson develops a chipset. A team of more then 10 people is then involved to port Android to this chipset. They look for clients and to every client they dedicate a special team that helps the client (Samsung in this case, but also Sony) to adopt this port to their needs and their platform. The client then ports their layer (Touchwiz for Samsung) to the new platfrom. So you're looking at maybee 30 people involved to get Android up, running and bug-free on a one specific phone..... People who get payed to do this at work. People who will get paid extra time if needed. People who do this as a day job.
Now, let's get back to XDA. We're looking here at one to two active developers who do the porting in their spare time. They are not getting paid for it. They just do it for the trill, so let's stop asking them for timelines or updates. Let's keep it a fun thing for them to do. If not.... Wel... if it's not fun anymore for them to share their work.... they will simple stop sharing and they have all the rights in the world to stop sharing!
bangz0r, keep up the good work

I am greatful for people to make things better.
Just a note, both projects have been delayed.
I have a huge overhaul at work. Shouldn't be more than until Friday,
@up
so why don't you create a thread AFTER having a ROM?
With all the respect to the devs and your previous achievements, I think that all that "coming soon" threads should be deleted.
what we got here? A thread with no ROM (actually 3 of them, including sacura project and jb) and dozens of "yeahs, wows and can't waits" posts. and "delay" of project...
Do you need all that "likes" and "encourage" trash? so why don't you release ROM first?
And no, I'm not a dev and I will not release my own ROM (I suppose somebody use such argument soon), but for God's sake- this is development, not chitchat section.
there are forums with separate development and ROM discussion sections, which helps to keep development thread clean. but we have all in one... Do we needs hundreds of pages of garbage? you have like/thanks button, so why do you post all that thanks anyway?
sorry if somebody felt insulted or sth...

I'm sorry I did not read the entire post, but with all due respect - this is not a "coming soon" thread.
You are obviously new to XDA.
EDIT:
Release, lol. You would get killed if you'd have actually worked as a developer at sane company calling up on releases without in-depth testing first. Do you know the purpose of creating such thread? It's for contributing.

1. but you aren't developer at any company, at least xda is not such a company. you need to make a thread to test the ROM ALONE??
you are experienced dev, so what kind of contribution do you need at this point? to hold your hand?
2. I think contribution starts with first release...
people find bugs, help to solve it...
what kind of contribution did you get from all that previous posts?
I don't want to argue, maybe you used to to trash in threads/topics, but how many of previous posts (and in our threads general) are actually valuable and helpful?
wouldnot be nicer and better without all that junk? EoT.

And if you had done a search you would have found the thread talking about the differences between official and non official CM and how negligible any difference is. If you would have decided additional comment was necessary you could have then added to that conversation.
In the meantime you can check the original android development thread. Lior did a great job with his CM10 builds

Yet again i repeat: iam not asking about the differences.
Iam asking about the fact it self: do they (cm) plan to do it?
This is not about anything of if there is cm on hox+ or not.
I know there is (unoffcial ports), i know they work very good... iam aware of all that!!!
Iam just asking a simple question... Just the fact it self if they plan to do it or not! Thats it.

Clearly when it has been explained in the posts above, you must know your answer by now: no one knows. Now I know this doesn't REALLY answer your question but I think you can assume it probably never will

Actually you did answer my question more or less.
Before you i was searching google for 20mins and dint find any info at all regarding it (also it take a lot of time to filter info thats about hox+ not hox). I just wanted to know cm's state on it, thats all. No disrespect to any unoffical ports what so ever (heck, u can be sure that i probably try most of them).
Thank you for somewhat answer.

There is a huge amount of work put into making these OSs. I don't have experience myself but I know it take teams of people and months of time to create something like that.

Before you jump in creating something new, try building Arch Linux.
It takes some technical know-how, but there are guides, forums, irc, Google, and many other methods of learning.
Have fun.

You cant. Simple as that. You need a lot more people with a lot more experience. Judging by your question, you have none.
