I have a Xperia Z2 (D6543) of 16GB (~12GB usable) and a 128GB SD Card Extreme Plus from SanDisk. I bought thinking I'll install all apps in SD Card, but I can't. In this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783980 was said to move the folder "/data" to SD Card, but I'll just try this if I know really works, if not if have another solution for this. Anyone here already did this step for tell me if works, I need to move the apps to SD Card quickly, 12GB it's few space to games. I already tried to move just apps folders (com.xxxxxxxxx.xxxxxx.xxxxx for example) located in "/Android/" folder, and already tried too Link2SD, but the app say it's impossible because is a Emulated Storage, something like that. If anyone know how to do that tell me please, urgently! Thanks all for attention!

how do I correctly setup my external sd card(16gb) to allow apps to be installed on it?
I made a partition in recovery that's 2gb with 0mb swap, but It's not showing it anywhere.
can someone please help?
...whenever i choose to show the SD, it only shows my internal sd card. it can't recoginize my external card for apps.
Apps dont move to your ext sd, they move to your internal memory. The sd part is misleading.
yes i know that, but i'm asking, how do i make it go to my external sd?

Works for me with link2sd. Don't know why its not reading your sd tho. But that's the app I use and it's flawless. Still have all internal storage available and apps linked appropriately.

My phone reads my sd just fine, but app2sd shows my internal as my sd and not my external so it copies to back to the phone.

Has anyone been able to successfully move an app from the internal storage to an sd card on the NT? I have tried using App2sd and Astro file manager to move apps, but every time I move one, it breaks the app and I end up have to reinstall it to the main storage.
How can I move or initially install apps to my sd card?
Thanks in advance.
Moves, but disappears
SuperToolbox moves them to the SDcard nicely, and they work until I reboot. Then they are GONE!
Is there a cure for this?
Apps2SD/ZDBox?
Has anyone had any better luck with this? Both Apps2SD and ZDBox break the app. And at least in the case of ZDBox, the application never even shows up on the SD card when I do a search.
Had to ask: Why would you want to move an app to SD? I understand that the nook has sufficient storage space to handle a lot (something like 13GB) of apps.

in all honesty it weird that you would want to install apps on to your SD card since you basically have 13GB of access for apps. Installing apps from your SD card goes into the data folder on the NT if i am not mistaken, and apps take very little space unless you are downloading games which have like additional content that takes like 1gb of space. Even then you should still have sufficient storage...
you guys know that we can only use 1 gig of all that internal storage, right? because the other 12 gigs are dedicated to Barnes and Noble content...

Have you read any of the threads on the partitioning of the device?
Hello guys. I recently discovered that i cannot transferred any of my apps to sd card.
I have even downloaded app2sd app but that says the device does not have a real primary external storage. But i have inserted the sd card.
Any idea ? Any help will be appreciated

I started a thread back in May when i got the phone. Since in SIII they have one partition now for all apps the app2sd is not required. If you see you'll have one huge SD space 11.gb available for all apps and that's the SD card so you dont need or can't use app2SD.
But I have already used the SD card (phone's) 's 3.4 GB solely for Apps. Now I want to transfer the bulky apps to the "real" microSD card. I hope It was possible...
you can use the app from google play; gl to sd!
it's working great but you need to have ROOT

try foldermount.
Of course some of those applications should be movable to sd anyways. I wouldn't move anything that you use often. I wouldn't move anything that needs to be active most of the time, i.e. widgets.
My understanding---and someone correct me if I'm wrong---is no. The way the S4 mounts the SD card means that it's not recognized as external. I believe even the stock update doesn't really move apps, or at least appdata, to the SD card.
Now, I await someone to tell me that I'm wrong, or at least that I'm right for the wrong reasons.

The SD card is recognized as external and is treated as such. What you're thinking of is the internal partition labeled SD card, which is emulated. The external card is its own entity in the file system and is denoted as external.
As for the OP, a third party app is the best and only way to move apps AND their data to your external SD card.

Just want to clarify that foldermount is a solution for those apps you can't move into the SD card with apps2sd or some program like that.

You know an app that would work on GS4/CM10?
Hi,
It is my first Sony android phone (with a SD card slot). I was wondering if this oddity with internal storage and SD card relationship is across all Sony androids, or unique to ZU.
Basically, when I use Astro File manager, it looks like there are 2 SD cards mounted. I guess SDcard0 is the internal storage, and SDcard1 is the actual SD card.
Now, I also see an ''emulated'' SDcard, whatever that is.
MY MAIN PROBLEM IS THAT NOT ONLY DO I NOT UNDERSTAND THE WAY IT IS LAID OUT, I ALSO CANNOT MOVE APPS (and more importantly, massive data that goes for these apps) TO SD CARD TO PRESERVE INTERNAL STORAGE.
All those apps in play stores don't seem to work, because none of them actually recognise an external SDcard storage in y Z ultra.
Do I need to wait for ZU to be rootable so that these problems can be overcome?
Or is there a neat trick to get around this?
Thanks in advance

Once rooted you can use an app like foldermount, but you are going to have to wait for the root to be released first.

Thanks! Please tell me that it is a matter of time before Z ultra is also rootable. If so, I can wait patiently:fingers-crossed:
Has there ever been an unrootable android thus far?

Hi, still waiting for my XZU. BTW, what do you mean that your apps can't recognize the external storage? My experience with other phones with 'emulated' internal storage didn't prevent the apps from recognizing the 'real' external SD card.. There is usually also an option to choose which storage is used as default - at least on my previous huawei ascend P1. Can anyone confirm this on their XZU?
edit: as default here means as the main storage for apps data (picture for camera apps, downloads from browsers, downloadable content for some apps, etc), not the installed apps and system data

What I meant by 'not recognising' (I could have phrased it better) is that yes, I can access it from any apps except that they are labelled as SDcard0 and SDcard1. What I tried to say was that for those not familiar, it seems confusing. If the internal memory is actually an SD card hidden away deep inside, I can kind of understand, but the way this phone is set up, it looks as if there are 2 external SD cards (which of course, there aren't) and no internal storage.
If there is a way to choose where certain apps can store their relevant data, I would like to know how for VIBER, Beyond Pod (podcast player) and Androrec (call recorder). I am assuming that there is no systematic way of selecting storage destination (via android or Xperia interface), and that these apps don't offer such features in their settings, and that we need to wait till the day some hard working genius figures out how to root the ZU.
Where?

When installing apps off playstore, where is it saved? sdcard0, sdcard1, extsd, emulated?
When using foldermount, what should be the destination folder (to mount it on my external sd card)?
I really want to know more about those storage locations because it confuses me all the time especially some of them contain the same files
Thank you

Using solid explorer and things are far more clear on it (recognize directly which is what) but to make it simple:
-SDcard0 and emulated are the internal memory
-SDcard 1 and extra are your SDcard
So if you wish to move an app to your SDcard send it to SDcard 1.
