While it is always nice to have alternatives, if you have to root just go with ViPER4 Android FX A4. You can boost and improve your sound.

I'm also running pa ROM but what values do you have everything at? I feel like the speaker on this phone comes very low

I'm running blisstalk rom 4.4.4 VZW retail g3. The rom I'm on has Viper4android installed in it, I applied the Viper phone speaker settings but its not putting out very much boost! I also tried Volume+ from the play store and it doesn't work well on this rom either. This app Volume booster works great on this rom, wow you can damage you're phone speakers with this app if u don't know what your doing! Awesome I like it!

Man than you this works like a charm on my pa ROM just what I been looking for

Definitely a no go for OEM ROM!

just tested on jasmine 5.0 and working great

Works great for me. I am running SkyDragon ver. 3 with SD kernel ver. 4.0.1
I also have V4A installed, but V4A doesn't seem to work with Poweramp, or at least not on my current setup.

in order for V4A to work with poweramp just go into poweramp/settings/adio/advanced tweaks and uncheck direct volume control and should work fine

Thanks for the reply. I had already done that though.

Will changing values in this app cause an ota to fail? OTA fails when manually making the edits. And if yes, does the ota then work after using the restore values option?

Running the same rom; lollipop variant, Viper4android and LG Music app. Did you check to see if direct audio control in Poweramp is unchecked? It is in the audio/advanced setting. It should be to run Viper4android. I had Poweramp as my DD on my prior phone. I can not run it yet in lollipop. Check that out and report back. Gary
Volume Booser app working very well in this setup.

AOSP sound issues

Hello,
So it seems that when I install any of the AOSP roms "unofficial cm, infection, tron" the speaker audio does not work. For anything. Notifications, videos, speaker phone, anything. Obviously Im the only person who has this problem but does anybody have any idea how to fix this annoyance. Audio works fine on Sense based roms weirdly enough.
Thanks

You know, ive had this issue on one of my roms, its a bug that is bugging me lol. But my MIUI rom, it doesnt register until you bring the volume to max and then adjust it from there. You only need to do this the first time..if you go into the sound setting and max out all sound and then adjust them to where you want. Not sure if it will work for you, but thats the work around in my rom

Bump. Still no solution. Tried a bunch of different roms and even what was suggested. But nothing seems to get the sound to work on AOSP roms. I really hate sense and want to get rid of it. Im going to try and reinstall the ruu and start clean. Maybe that will fix something.
When you attempt to play something the speaker sounds like its trying to play. sometimes popping or even really soft static sound. Again this is only when on AOSP roms.
Weirdly enough. Rage 1.9.6 (4.0.4 cm based) works with sound but not the newer roms. Any Ideas?

I installed it just as a regular apk, no moving it to /system here, and it works great.
im still scared to try without recovery

Audio Mods

Anyone using any audio mods , if so which ones and how well do they work? I'm coming from the HTC One which has great headphone/speakerphone audio quality. I'm not too concerned about speakerphone as I use headphones most of the time.

it does work, the g3 just has a great audio output that its hard to tell the difference. you will not get an increase in volume though :crying:
I am an audiophile. I own many thousands of dollars in headphone equipment as well as monitoring equipment. I have been an avid android user and developer since the HTC G1. I use viper4audio not for the speaker output but for the headphone output. The G3 uses the same Amp for the speaker as it does for the headphones. There is no change what so ever when viper4audio is enables to my sound. I use the equalizer ive checked multiple settings, i've even used different audio players to get viper4audio to work on neither the speaker or headphones. What you experiencing is a placebo effect.
I hate to ask such a basic question, but are you guys using the XPOSED framework and have you enabled the viper mod in the framework?
I can assure you this mod works with the G3 (at least the AT&T version - I'll be testing on a verizon version later today). The sound difference can be drastic depending on what mods you turn on and to what levels you set them at.
That brings up another question I guess.... Are you going into the GUI and selecting different mods? Just installing the app won't change anything as nothing is turned on be default. You have to set things up manually.....
Just moved from and S5 and this was one thing I installed first. I can't speak to the headphone jack but bluetooth audio definitely works.
Viper sounds amazing on this phone, I can tell a difference from my s4. Very happy with spotify viper combo
does anyone has a the origina file handy for a verizon LG-G3 handy? I followed the instructions in the op and saved the original file on my sdcard but I ended up buying another sdcard and forgot I had it in the old sdcard. Now I'm scared if I ever going to do a change I don't have the original file to go back to. I'm happy with this mod I just want to have it just in case, thank

I am an audiophile as well and viper has been working perfectly for me since day one of rooting my g3. I don't have force enable viper on. I also have the user audio profile installed. And FX compatibility mode is on normal. Do you have yours installed as a system app? I don't.

I am an audiophile and I always recommend Noozxoide Eizo Rewire Pro. Amazing.
I think viper is the best I notice a big difference in both quality and volume I used a decibel meter on my g2 to compare the difference and with viper I gained on the low end 6 db and on the high end 10db so that's an average of a 8 db gain with viper
I rooted almost specifically to use Viper4Android. Ive noticed that the phone speaker is actually quieter with V4A enabled(probably just settings) but headphone volume/clarity is fantastic. I also came from an HTC One M7, and i have to say, 1 watt does work on this device

I can confirm this also. V4A FX 2.3.3.0/Verizon VS985(Rooted) -
Viper always has worked for me on my G3 with and without Xposed framework installed, but always with root. My steps are below, never given me a problem.
V4A version 2.3.3.0 [in Normal (not compatibility) mode, with granted root permissions, Latest version, expert UI, played with SPOTIFY]
Installed by dragging apk from extSD to
dragged to system/apps/
permissions change to rw-r--r--
ownerships changed to root
if its not in my app drawer, i reboot, if it is I go straight to the install of the drivers (both have worked fine for me)
installed V4A driver by granting root
Super Audio Quality
Reboot
Select it as the equalizer in spotify
enjoy

Agreed.
Has anyone tried an audio boost to the headphone out volume with V4A Installed? I like to feel my head shake with bass...but am very picky about quality of sound too. I know on my GS4 any audio boost to TW 4.4.2 caused distortion even if using V4A at 50% media volume @ signal strength= moderate \ Max Gain =x4 \ Max output = -1.9db
Using Klipsch S4A buds - anyone got recommendations for earbuds that go well with V4A on the G3? interested to know thoughts, looking for new ones

[REQUEST] Surround sound

It'd be awesome to enable the earpiece as some other devices have for media sound, that would help a lot in noisy situations, especially that the speaker is on the back.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.omegacentauri.Earpiece tested on Kate, works great... Although if you meant you'd like to use your earpiece and loudspeaker at the same time, that's not probably possible, but even if it were, it would have made hardly any difference.

Haha xD now I see it is written there... So I just tried installing it under my current rom (latest official CM13) and it still works just fine. Have you tried installing it? I have Kate. The first time I used this one was under stock stable (miui_HMNote3ProtwGlobal_V8.1.3.0.MHRMIDI_14698da799_6.0.zip).
The volume is controlled via media volume, not phone volume. So you press a volume button and then have to manually adjust media volume by expanding the volume panel.

[PATCH] Enable AK4490 HIFI DAC on custom Rom

Hi. I've created a patch that enable AK4490 on custom roms. Previosly it was pasted on 4pda.
Sry for bad English
If you are using latest Ainur betas from telegram you dont have to flash it because since beta 3 or 4 UltraM8 helped me integrate this patch into mod. Also Ainur doesnt have bag with call
Updated Magisk version to template 15000
Known bags:
When you call somebody you can not hear your subscriber. Solution: just enable and disable speaker mode.
UPD. If you're using OREO Rom, you dont have to use this mod because it was integrated into Rom. Plus if you're using Ainur, you dont have to flash it too
I thought that it was enabled by default on custom roms anyway? Or is this patch only so it works for sure with ainur?

I also thought that, but I dualbooted LOS to try if the 192khz hack actually worked with the AKM DAC (because it was supposedly the one in use) and it was too obvious that it actually wasn't in use. The soundstage of the other DAC is much smaller. Maybe with this patch we can put it @ 192KHz with Poweramp? Can anybody try?

Any chance that this will get integrated onto the ROMs themselves? This is the same as the Universal Bootloader stuff and the old TWRP it installs, we'll get to the point where we need to install dozens of zips to get a fully working system
p.s where can we get the Ainur betas?

The Hi-res output? No, that doesn't work. But at least the AKM DAC is working. I'll try using the Samsung UHQA hack but I don't believe it'll work (it may just put the sd820 DAC at 192KHz
I enabled HiFi audio with the Lenovo Hifi line trick in the build.prop file, and i think i got a slight improvement, but it may be just placebo.

The effect is really noticeable on the highs with a FLAC file. I used a 192KHz file to test, and the highs were awesome, but the soundstage got reduced a lot (this was on stock, so I went from 48khz AKM DAC to 192khz SD820 DAC). I'll try on LOS today
I would love to understand the workings behind this. Once you install this how can you tell it works?
Please don't tell me to listen because that's pointless with placebo effect. I'm simply looking for the technicalities that prove audio is being sent via dac with or without this mod.
