i have galaxy s2 4.1.2 rootbox-jb-i9100i-v2.9 phone and my camera is showing only black screen when i press on camera app, what could be the problem ? kernel ? camera apk ? or rom? i've already tried to change to rom.

I've got the same problem since a few weeks. once a week or so i update to the latest nightly. I even cleared the caches a few times. It does not help.
I can make photo's but when trying to film something, it get's stuck, black screen and stuck. I have to reboot the whole device. It seems to drag the battery down with speed thru the drain.
so maybe it is a bug which slipped in and is not solved for weeks.
before a few weeks ago this was not an issue.

since new camera never worked i upgraded stock firmware made a factory reset but the problem is still there, the camera keeps a black screen freezes, buttons dont work and sometimes it says "camera fail"
would it be a hardware issue?
The camera should work with stock (out-of-the-box) firmware. You did the right thing and flashed newer firmware and also factory reset.
That should have fixed it if it was firmware issue...........
Rooting and installing any custom firmware would be a waste of time.
It's obviously a hardware issue, so re-flash the original firmware and return it for replacement asap.

Hi, I have bit different symptoms.
My back camera is working fine but I have problems with my front camera.
When I use my front camera it shows very darker screen than other GS3.
Also, when I want to switch from front to back camera it lags and switches after 5 seconds.
Sometimes it gives me error message when switching and it kicks me out to the home screen.
I don't know what is wrong.
I did the factory reset and the symptoms were still there.
When I reflashe the phone the symptoms are gone but it appears later.
I thought it was caused by one of the apps so deleted all the apps I have one by one.
Did not work out.
Will this be a hardware problem?

i have had an atrix for almost a year now and have had no issues with it. recently i took a big step and decided to get the cm10 rom by th3bill onto my atrix!
all worked fine for a few weeks until about a week ago. i noticed that my lockscreen pattern wasnt entering as normal. the pattern would not connect to the dots i wanted it to. on the main screen if i tap on the central button to get to the menu for my apps it will automatically respond my touch to the right/left icon and take me onto my contacts/sms instead. also while typing certain letters e.g "t" will not be recognised and instead "r" will show up instead.
somehow i managed to remove my pattern lock but the other issues are still present.
i thought that it may be a bug with the rom so i decided to go back to cm7.2 which was running perfectly on the phone thinking that this may be the solution, but even that rom is now giving me the same problem :crying:
can someone please advise me as to what the problem is/what i should do?

I replaced my digitizer and the dead zone changed position.So know that replacing the digitizer might help or might not help...

my friend have a MEIZU MX4 PRO ...bought just a month ago.....the phone is freezing since yesterday while doing random stuffs nd gets restarted .....while freezing some wierd line appears to the screen ...sometimes even bootloop appears...
i tried to reset the phone...then also this happens
the phone can switch b/w 2K and 1080P .... we have been switching whenever needed.... is it a problem???...
can someone help me in identifying the cause???

http://forum.xda-developers.com/meizu-mx well what i can suggest you is to take the phone to the service centre. May be it needs repair from the issues that you are talking about.

I have Z2 with latest 5.0 build (.28). 1-2 days since i updated my phone, camera app stopped working. I opened it and it's just a black screen with control buttons. It doesn't make pictures. I tried to reset my phone with PCC, but problem stayed. I downloaded other camera apps from Play Market and they also didn't work, then i turned off stock camera app (in settings) and other camera apps worked fine. When i turn stock camera app back it works for some hours and then again black screen.
Is it a SW or HW problem? Does enyone know what to do?

i have never faced this problem, but i have heard that it was a couple of bugs in the 5.0.2 builds.
Try to upgrade your firmware and se if it works better

Hey,
Which ROM are you using? If you're using an official stock ROM, then I guess the problem lies in the camera itself. Maybe, the wiring/connection got damaged. In that case, you might have to pay a visit to the service centre.
If you're using a custom ROM, then try to change your ROM and check that it might be caused due to a bug in the OS that you're using.

Sometimes the camera works but it shows while lines instead of pure white...

Happened to me too at the beginning of the summer. Stock 4.1.2 and the camera suddenly stopped, hard resetted to no avail. One time only opening and closing it worked for a split second, but I was never able to reproduce it.
New camera module necessary?
