Hi,
I have the Xperia Tablet Z2 (SGP512) and want to use a pencil, pen or fine-tip stylus for handwriting.
The steps I took are:
1) Read how to enable pen mode http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2652762
2) Rooted (using Easy Root v12.4) and backed up (using Backup TA v9.11) as instructed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792056
3) Used Sony PC Companion 2.1 to upgrade the build to 17.1.2.A.0314. The stock version was 17.1.A.2.36, Android version 4.4.2.
This apparently un-rooted the tablet Z2, so I repeated #1 & 2.
4) Installed SuperSU v2.35,
5) Installed Pen.Mode.3.apk. The Tablet Z2 shows "Enabled pen mode" when I click the icon, but there is no response using a pencil, metal pen or wood (pencil with no graphite at the tip).
If Sony is to be believed, then I should be able to use a pencil for input, as promised by the link below:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/03/0...put-also-see-steadyshot-stabilisation-demoed/
I have on the plastic screen protector(?) which came on the tablet Z2. I have not removed the Screen Protector ET974 from the package to install it yet.
Poster tasanhalas reported that his stock Model SGP511, Kernel 3.4.0-perf-g46a79a0, Compilation 17.1.A.2.36 worked with a fine-tip stylus in post #10 of the thread below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708198
Does anyone know how to get the tablet Z2 to work like the Z2 phone in the video below?

THIS METHOD MAY UNROOT MANY OTHER SONY XPERIA PHONES. (USE SONY PC COMPANION TO EASILY UNROOT YOUR SONY XPERIA PHONE OR TABLET).
I made a mistake and rooted my Sony Xperia SP smartphone. I wanted to unroot the phone and remove Superuser. The phone had a Chinese Superuser after I followed instructions on a YouTube video: "How to Root Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean (Universal Method)"
Initially I tried to flash the phone with the latest firmware (currently 12.0.A.2.254). I found software to flash the phone (Flashtool), but I could not find the drivers required by the program FlashTool. (No need to do this).
Sony has software (Emma) to flash xperia phones, but the Sony Xperia SP is not supported. You also need a username and password after approval by Sony. (No need to do this)
The above methods were NOT necessary for me to unroot my Xperia SP phone, and it didn't work for me.
I used the following method to successfully UNROOT my Xperia phone:
1. This step is NOT necessary. You can just go to step 2
1.1 Delete all data on SD card: On Phone go to Settings, Storage, Erase SD card.
1.2 Reset the phone: On the Xperia: Settings + (Under Personal) Backup & Reset. This removed previously installed apps, but didn't remove Superuser. The phone was still rooted.
2. USE SONY PC COMPANION TO REPAIR PHONE
2.1 Install Sony PC Companion.
( This software loads automatically on your PC when you connect your phone to a PC. This software is used to upgrade the software on the phone. The Sony Xperia SP phone promps to install this software when it is connected to a PC.)
2.2 I did not make any changes to any settings on the phone after the reset done in step 1. No need to make any changes of any settings on phone.
2.3 Connect the phone with USB cable to PC, and wait for PC companion to show its connected to phone. No need to change any settings on phone.
2.4 On SONY PC COMPANION, just go to SUPPORT ZONE, and click on START
Under the heading PHONE TABLET SOFTWARE UPDATE, click on START and follow the instructions.
2.5 Software downloads and reinstall the latest software for the phone.
2.6 Disconnect phone from PC when prompted.
3. IT took me about 10 minutes to UNROOT the phone.
4. In order to verify the phone is Unrooted I downloaded Root Checker Basic from Google Play / Android App store. I received the info, Sorry! This device does not have proper root access. Therefore the device is UNROOTED, and back to standard.
5. The (Chinese) Super user (blue shield) application is also deleted from the phone.
I hope this will help. It's a very quick, easy and effective solution to unroot Sony Xperia SP (C5303) mobile phones.
I believe you can use this method with other Sony Xperia phones supported by Sony PC companion software.
Hi Guys, I read a followed the instructions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708194) on how to root the SGP 521, but no good results so far. I want to root it without unlock the boot loader to be able to do a TA backup. My experience on rooting is almost zero, but did it with my old Samsung Galaxy Note tablet and the Galaxy S2. Now everything is different from back then so I would like to get assistance on how to.
- I did download and installed on Windows 7 Pro the Easy Rooting Toolkit V17 & V18.
- Allowed unknown installation from the SGP 521
- Activated USB debugging on the SGP 521, Developer settings.
- Run the easy root tool and followed and the tool instructions.
- Rebooted the SGP 521 before connecting via USB to the PC.
- Run the Easy root tool, then it connects but nothing happened.
I repeated the above procedures a couple of times, but same result. I would value your help on how to root it appropriately. Thanks in advance!
My not be helpful but I had a similar problem and realised that when I ran the tool there was a pop-up on my z2 which I had to acknowledge... Might help might not thought I'd share

Could you be more explicit on the "nothing happened" did you had a message from easy root tool? Make sure you have the admin rights when you start Easy root tool.

I run the tool as admin first. But once I followed all required steps and run the tool, it closed it self. Then I run as regular (no admin rights) and followed the required steps. The tool connected the tablet and then stayed with a cursor blinking and doing nothing. I though I could be EMET (Microsoft tool) installed on my PC, so I uninstalled. But after done, nothing changed.

Perhaps check if you have drivers installed correctly and has no any other usb software running when you try root your device.

All drivers for the tablet are installed correctly. I can see the tablet connected on connection icons as well as in the devices admin setting from PC.
I will re-run the tool again & will post more details on what happens. Maybe there is something I am not doing right...

Thank you all! I finally got my tablet rooted. I did use the method advised by Pec74: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784900
I also got the new July firmware update from Sony so I decided to updated and I re-rooted the tablet with no problems. I still have problems with mirroring the tablet to TV. Any suggestions for a room which will fix this problem? Thanks all again! :fingers-crossed:

Do not forget to do a backup of your ROM now in case you have a problem. You can use rom manager
Hello,
i have a TF103C model K010. After 2 return to manufacturer for changing screen due to not reacting screen. I'm wondering if there is not:
- a tool to flash rom as standard fast boot does not allow to flash
- a ROM that allows me to avoid this issue with screen that does not react to any movement.
thx.

I'm looking exactly for the same things.
Also a de-bloated stock rom would be enough for me: anyone has news on the subject?
Hi, I have this same old Asus k010 tablet and no way to root it. I'm not an expert but I tried with kingroot apk, kingoroot apk, dr.fone APK and none of those work for me. Should I set something in the tablet first?
I would like to change the ROM. Please help
not sure if it helps, but i just managed to unlock a K018 following the instructions shared here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/custom-rom-in-asus-tf103cg.3062615/
ps. if fastboot won't see your device, you need to reset the driver; follow these steps:
1. install 15secadb from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...nstaller-v1-4-3.2588979/page-88#post-83862339
2. follow the instructions from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/fastboot-mode-troubleshooting-windows-users.3898524/
currently looking for a compatible ROM for TF103CG , as there seems to be no dedicated section/rom for this model.
Hi all,
Hoping someone might have some knowledge on this Chinese cheap build tablet.
Its an iRulu eXpro X1, model X10. Inside is the Allwinner A83T with 16Gb Rom and 1 Gb RAM.
This was previously with my daughter but we just upgraded her to a Sumsung Tab A, so I thought I'd play with the iRulu (bad mistake lol).
The iRulu was still running kitkat so I rooted it (Kingo Root works fine in anyone else is trying), attempted to install CWM and TWRP. Both failed, every attempt through adb / fastboot gave bootloader: secure mode fail error.
So I them decided to flash the new rom from iRulu's website - using PhoenixUSB.
All was going well, the tablet went into download mode (hold Esc button, plug USB cable in and press power button 10 times in rapid succession.) and the firmware started to download. At 80% PhoneixUSB threw a boot(0) error and stopped.
After this the tablet will not start (nothing on display) nor even show the charging icon on the screen! It does however still enter the download mode so I can try other images. So far I have tried 5 different images (including darkglow10.1_android5.1.img, A83T_N102_N1021L1BC_20151123.img) however all of then error when writing to the bootloader. I have also tried PhoenixCard to write an image in Startup mode - this gave nothing Live Suite makes no difference either, using the images I have.
Unfortunately the serial number has worn off the device so I cant be sure of the exact firmware from iRulu website to install. (I've mailed them for what its worth).
I have opened the device and the pcb is marked INET-N102-REV01 and Zeng-gc2014-12-22. Google has some stuff on it but nothing I understood
Does anyone have any thoughts? I'm concerned that the bootloader is locked / corrupt in some fashion which is stopping the download.
thanks
update: using the x1081 firmware from iRulu and PhoneixCard I have restore functionality. The device thinks its an expro x2 plus and it doesnt recognise the SD card slot (tried multiple cards) but other than that it seems okay
Will try to figure the correct firmware thou - anyone?
thanks

Hello, I am having the same problems with that tablet, got it from this girl I'm seeing. It was freezing whenever it connected to the internet, I assume was a ROM issue, i flashed an incorrect recovery on it after getting frustrated. Can you please help?
T95 MAX - AEROMEDIA NANOMAX (T95 MAX Clone) ALLWINNER H6 CHIPSET EXCELLENT REPLACEMENT CUSTOM FIRMWARE BY [email protected]/FREAKTAB ANDROID 7.1.2 NOUGAT
When flashing your box with firmware there is always risks and these risks are to be understood solely by the user. Please understand that neither I or anyone at xda can be held liable for what you decide to do to your box.
I have seen many struggle to get a replacement firmware for the T95Max/ Nanomax box from Justopuk.
I am posting this for anyone who wants it and will link to instructions on how to replace the horrible stock firmware on the above boxes..
what's in it? This rom has been tweaked for better performance, much better kernel tuning and thermals, comes with magisk 19 which can be updated. Nova Launcher which can also be updated.
wht doesn't work? some lose ability of stock remote, this can be replaced via airmouse/keyboard and there is built in "advanced power menu! Quick reboot app to power off/on boot to recovery etc

Unofficial TWRP : This needs to be placed on USB and once you have flashed the rom, boot into recovery, apply update from external. This will USB boot to TWRP and let you back/up restore either from ext/int sdcard.

Download and Install USB_android driver
Install the driver by specifying the path via device driver in Windows (you may need to disable the driver's digital signature verification )
Restart the PC (although the driver is signed and everything went well without it).
Launch PHOENIX USB PRO , select THE T95MAX_SCV2. IMG File.
We will need a USB-A to USB-A cable
Then connect the cable to the PC,
Take a toothpick or something like that and insert it into the jack 3.5 (sound output) and press the button hidden there.
Connect the USB-USB cable to the set-top box to the USB 2.0 connector in the centre (T95Max)
Keep the button pressed, Until you see a green tick on screen (phoenix usb Pro gui)
You will see the progress as Phoenix begins preparation of the Flash
after the computer has identified the set-top box, release the button and connect the power cable.
Wait until it displays end/finish firmware then Unplug USB to USB and plug the dc power back in for first boot.
Enjoy

@Bertonumber1, saw your question on freaktab and just wanted to say to the best of my knowledge you can't make TWRP the permanent recovery. you've gotta load it up each time you wanna use it on other boxes too.

Yeah, this box I have is okay, It works better on nougat than it did on pie, I'm happy with it.
I lost the stock remote but always use the rii keyboard / airmouse anyway and use advanced reboot app to turn off so its not too much of a loss.
I prefer Allwinner devices to Amlogic and have tried allsorts of different devices and roms.
IMO after all the modding and tweaking over the years. I think it's best just to update your stock rom to the latest security patch etc, root, debloat and get a custom launcher.
Unless your running a stable rom, the bugs and problems just ain't worth the hassle.
@deano2011 here's example of active cooling, it don't need to be perfect m8 just make sure it's sealed so the air flows to the board :good:
Aeromedia (Justopuk) Nanomax (T95max Clone) - Shipped with Android 9 stock Unrooted.
Flashed with [email protected] build T95Max_SCV2.IMG via Phoenix USB Pro 4.0 (windows 10)
Rooted Android 7, WiFi Bt chromecast all working,
Stock remote don't work but Airmouse does.
Strip all unnecessary apps, replace webview with bromite and Adaway.
Result : heats up a little under heavy usage but fan takes care of that, expect 32 degrees when active cooling (raspberry pi 4b case fan) is activated.

many thanks Berton' i will most likely give it a shot bud' at least the cpu/gpu won't be throttled under load with active cooling as the allwinner H6 chipset does get rather hot anyways with the manufacturer process of the chip being 28nm vs S905X2/X3 12nm process :good:

Definitely, I think these roms have just been thrown together to get ppl up and running quickly with regard to movies etc, you're right, no thought has been put into settings menu, I noticed the only way you can access developer menu is to search for a setting lol.
But hats off to the guy beny he did make good progress on what was already a shockingly bad Chinese stock firmware
