Q&A for How to root RCT6773W22 (rca voyager)
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for How to root RCT6773W22 (rca voyager). If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

Google drivers not included
First off I would like to say thank you for the video and the XDA post of how to root these new tablets. I Just bought two of them and am eager to modify them.
I followed all your steps but when I download the SDk it doesn't include any folder with Android USB drivers. WIndows automatically installs a "MTP USB Device" driver. I have tried to download the android USB driver separately else where and windows wont accept it saying it doesn't support it.
I am at a loss of how to get this to work. Kingo Root doesn't see the RCA device at all even though windows does and it is installed 100%. When I unplug the USB cable and back in Kingo searches and searches then says Not Connected.
Any help would be much appreciated
Thank You!

There is a fellow who used iroot on this in the forum. They have a apk app version PR PC version ppl say iroot is easier than kingo. Next a recovery would be great lol

Any luck on rooting RCA RCT6773W22 KitKat 4.4.2?
The last comment on another thread says "Root Master roots this tablet" without a link or anything. I installed the "Root Master" app, but was confused because this is just a "how to" app and it points basically back to the same method that the OP suggested would work.
Put simply I have my device connected to my computer and visible with "adb devices". Both standard google drivers or PDAnet works just fine. Kingo Android Root hangs at "WaitForDeviceTimeout", and basically I have figured out the device is supposed to ask for permission to wipe user data at fastboot screen, but nothing happens.
I'm attempting to get to a point of being able to try out different android mods, and I'm working on an android launcher, so I need to be able to flash a ROM to the device in the event that I program myself into a corner.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
---------- Post added at 03:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:45 AM ----------
Also, I have tried "adb reboot fastboot" and then "fastboot devices" has the tablet visible and working. Next "fastboot oem unlock" just shows "..." and nothing happens while the device is in fastboot mode. I "cntrl + C" out of fastboot, and then type adb reboot or fastboot reboot and the device comes out of fastboot mode. Still stuck in a loop of no root love.

So once this is rooted is it possible to put a custom boot animation & do exposed framework?

Happy Holidays ppl!!! :sly:

re
Hmm, this method did not work for me and I had to make my own method.

i have ported CRV recovery for this device, i need /proc partition to make scatter
Could someone pull their /proc partition using adb and upload for me please. id like to creat a scatter file forthis device. please anybody.
ive created a working recovery which iv tested on my rca voyager 7 tab, but i now need to crate a scatter file for esy flashing and restoring bricked device.
please anybody, just use adb to pull the /proc partition from the device. zip it and post a link, please and thanks. The recovery iv build is CRVv1.5 for ubifs fylesystem as its the only CRV version which has the back option. The touch does not work with our current kernel.

Are you guys using the newer quad core model?

wont see usb debugging as on
on kingo root, it says usb debugging is not on, but it is. the tab loks like the only driver is rct bla blah blah. i installed the stks but cant get the diver on the tab. and it thinks it is an unspecified device on my windows 7 computer. can someone help me?

Root your Huawei Mediapad 7 youth (s7-701u)

Development for CWM for this device has begun!
Head over here to lend a hand, or just check it out
Hello huawei users, and welcome to my second 'Root your mediapad 7 youth' thread
Find the original one here
The only difference between this thread and the one linked above is the tool used
This one uses Kingo Android root(English), while the one in the other thread uses Vroot(Chinese)
Of the two, I believe Kingo root is easier to use, as it has step by step instructions in English
DISCLAIMER
1.Neither me nor Kingo is in anyway responsible for anything that does or does not happen to your device as a result of following these instructions. This includes but is not limited to: bricking your device, abnormal functioning of your device and voiding of warranty. Continuing with this guide is accepting these terms.
2. Rooting your device will most likely void your warranty. You have been warned.
3. This guide is intended solely for the device mentioned in the title. It is not meant for use with any other device, and may have unwanted effects.
That being said, let's get on with it
Prerequisites
1. Fully charged PC
2. Fully charged Huawei Mediapad 7 Youth (s7-701u)
3. Kingo Android Root. Find at this link
4. USB cable
Steps
1. Install and setup Kingo
There is a simple, standard windows wizard to follow. Nothing complicated.
2. Plug in your device into your PC
At this point, make sure kingo is open
3. Follow the on-screen instructions
These include enabling USB Debugging, clearly demonstrated on-screen
When it's done rooting, it will reboot, and you are rooted with SuperSU installed.
It's really that simple.
It didn't work
I've installed king root. I had to download HiSuite only then it started to do its work. Then again it still failed.. Although the app tells 'Root Successful' and restarted the tab, it still failed to root... help please

I'm sorry to hear that you couldn't root your devices
Run through this FAQ to see if your computer and device are in the same config as mine
1. Do you have the Android SDK installed?
If not, go here : https://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/index.html and choose the 'eclipse ADT' option
2. Do you have the Java Development Kit Installed?
If not, go here : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19182-01/820-7851/inst_cli_jdk_javahome_t/index.html and follow the instructions
3. Do you have ADB configured?
If not, go here : http://androidcentral.us/2013/08/how-to-install-android-adb-and-fastboot-on-windows/
If following the above steps still does not help, PM me, hang in there, and I'll try to get back to you :good:.
@whhw31 I'm surprised that neither Kingo nor Vroot worked for you . I'll look ino this and see what I can come up with.
I'm working on a cwm port, but i am not done yet. I will alert you all when i successfully port it .
When that is done, flashing SuperSu.apk + supersu should be a piece of cake .
Till then, just hang in there a little longer.
Success????

Root Cubot x9

Hi, I want to root a cubot x9. Could you recommend me the apps that I can use, for root by telephone, and from pc? I'd rather to root my phone by phone without using the pc. Thanks.
Did you have any luck figuring out how to root this phone?
You can see it in this forum:
http://www.movilesdualsim.com/tema/root-y-twrp-recovery-mds-cubot-x9-twrp-recovery-2-7-1-0.91238/
Actually, after a bit of googling I found this tutorial on getting TWRP onto any Mediatek phone, which includes links to various tools for rooting (and is also in English )
Are there any different roms out there for the Cubot X9 besides the stock?

Note that this appears to be just a stock ROM mildly modified to work better in Spain. And on top of that, it appears to be based on an old version of the official ROM (v7 - it's up to v9 now according to the "official" thread on NeedRoms, but I have no idea what the source is for the official ones on NeedRoms, I can't find anything on the Cubot page)
And just a follow-up - I'm guessing the "official" roms on NeedRom are via the OTA updates.

If anybody in future is looking to root the X9, feel free to inbox me. I'm going to write up a tutorial on it, but until that's ready, I can give pointers on how to go about it. For a start, none of the one-click root options work, the only way I was able to root it was to do the no-root CWM install, and then root from CWM.
Hey! This is my first post, hopefully of many to come!
Iv just bought the X9, and to want to root this bad boy.
Its got a lot of potential I think, under the covers.
It just needs the power of su
If anyone can help, that would be awesome, as I've spent

I was able to successfully root when I first got the phone. After doing an OTA update, I can't get into TWRP, even after trying to root again.
Has anyone rooted after doing a OTA update?

What's the worst that can happen ?
I've tried iRoot. This will automatically install the 'Secure Search' program (and more!) in your browser which is very difficult to remove. Therefore iRoot is definitely a no go for me!
I recommend "kingroot" not kingo root. I used kingo but was having trouble with lucky patcher working properly. When I used kingRoot it worked like a charm.

Root cubot x9-TWRP recovery
Here is a quite simple guide to root your cubot x9 and install TWRP recovery. I have tested myself and it works fine!
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON YOUR PHONE! DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK
What you will need: A cubot x9 (Yeap I know...dont be shocked)
A PC running Windows (This method has been tested on win7 and win10)
A USB cable
Ten minutes from your life and some magic files that I will post at the end of the post.
*IMPORTANT* : Because I am a new member on the XDA community I cannot post any external websites so I cant post any files *sorry * . To find the files that I am referring too just google needrom . com and login in in this website search for cubot x9 and you will find all these files over there *OR* you can just send me a PM and I will reply with the links of the files.
(1):First of all before we start rooting we need to make sure that we have the correct drivers on our Window PC. Simple open the Control Panel go to Device Manager. Then turn off your phone and plug it in your computer. If you see for a moment a device with the name "PreLoader USB VCOM Port" the you have the correct drivers (clap*clap). If anything else appears you need to download the correct drivers. Just download the "All MTK USB Driver 2014.rar" file and unzip it. The re-plug your phone(turned off!) to your PC and when the device shows it self quickly right-click on it and choose update drivers. Then choose update through your computer and choose the folder you just unziped and press OK. Wait a while and *boom* you have your drivers. Before you continue check again if the drivers are correct ( if the "PreLoader USB VCOM Port" shows on Device manager). If not repeat this step.
Now lets root our phone like there is no tomorrow !
(2): Download and unzip the "SP Flash Tool 5.1343.01.rar" and "RECOVERY CUBOT X9 (MDS TWRP Recovery 2.7.1.0.). Rar". Then download the "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip" file. Turn on your phone and copy paste the "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip" file on your phone sorage(as a zip!). After that unplug your phone and turn it off. Go to the SP FLASH TOOL folder you unziped and run the flash_tool application. You press OK on the first window that pops up and then you choose on your right Scatter-loading. Browse your PC and choose the "MT6592_Android_scatter CUBOT X9.txt" which is inside the recovery folder that you unziped on the beginning of this step. Press ok. Then on your left you go to options->option->download and make sure to tick the box which says DA DL All with Checksum. Close that window and find and choose "Download only" and then click download(see the image on the end). After that the application is ready and it looks for our phone.
And now here is the tricky part. Right now our program is ready and searching for our phone. If we have the correct drivers and connect our turned off cubot the program will install the TWRP recovery in a few seconds. If everything went good a green circle will popup. After we see the green circle we have to go fast and press simultaneous the volume+ and power button on our phone till we see the CUBOT sigh. If we were a little too late the recovery will be lost and the phone will boot normally on stock. If this happens repeat the step (2) again.
(3): (Do you feel it? Root is near!) If everything went as planned right now you are on the TWRP recovery. Simply press install and find the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip you saved on your phone storage before. You choose it and the you "swipe to install". After the installation finishes reboot your phone. After some magic your phone is now rooted!!!
After the reboot if you ever want to run on the recovery simple turn off your phone plug it on the power and press volume+ and power simultaneous.
Please hit thanks button
for root i have used Kingo ROOT

See the instructions (author has since updated) at
http://click.xda-developers.com/api...Touch Pop S3</b> 5050 | Every Android version
and the second page comments for recovery hints. TWRP requires some study and preparation before use so it's not good to be stuck when attempting recovery.
Note the comment on the 3rd page about the updated recovery image that lets you see what you are doing on the screen. For me I got it working, working in the dark (ie. not seeing anything on screen), so it's too early for a video tutorial.
Please Help me :/

Rooting using Kingo Root
Rooting nowadays is very simple.
But the easiest way to do it is the following:
1. Download Kingo Root for Windows, Mac or Linux;
2. Install Kingo Root;
3. Open the program;
4. Connect your phone to your pc through USB cable and wait for Kingo Root recognize it;
5. If your phone is rootable it will appear a button saying "ROOT", click there (If your device is not rootable then you are out of luck and you must try another method)
6. Don't remove your phone and don't click anywhere, wait until the rooting process is finished;
7. After this your phone should reboot, it means you are now rooted (If your phone did'nt rebooted, manually reboot it then);
8. Enjoy!
Note: Rooting will void the device's warranty, root at your own risk.
Download the phone's drivers if needed and disable Windows, Mac or Linux firewall if needed.
Hope it works for you!

T-Mobile Coolpad Rogue 3320A - Any one working on Recovery/Roms for this?

So I as successfully able to root the phone using the Windows version of Kingo Root and then installed Super Su and Busy Box but I can't get a recovery to work on it, yet.....would love a Recovery like TWRP or Phil's and CM13 port for this phone.
Finally got it rooted with KingRoot
Just noticed that the build.prop has the ro.build.id-LMY47V
That's the 5.1.1 for the 2013 Nexus 7

Hi I would to know how you rooted the Coolpad Rogue 3320A. I was looking at Kingo root and KingRoot and they dont give good instructions.
I tried the android versions of both KingRoot and Kingo Root without success. The Windows version of Kingo Root failed but the Windows version of KingRoot succeeded in rooting my Coolpad Rogue 3320A.
The Kingo Root Windows app gives instructions in English when you run it. Which are to connect the phone to the computer with a USB cable and enable "USB debugging" in the phone's "Settings" under "Developer options'. Then click the ROOT button when it appears. KingRoot is in Chinese, but I just followed the same procedure.
To get "Developer options" to show in the phone's settings , you need to give 7 or 8 taps to the "Build number" under "About phone" in the phone's "Settings".
Before I tried rooting I also ran COOLPAD-140926-SETUP.EXE in the CD Drive labeled "Coolpad_USB_Driver" that shows up in Windows Explorer when the phone is connected to the PC by USB cable. I also installed minimal ADB and Fastboot and Google USB drivers using 15 seconds ADB Installer v1.3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48915118 But I think that they may not have been necessary.
The version of Windows KingRoot I had success with was KingRootSetup_v3.1.0.1125_105002.exe downloaded from kingroot.net
There's a setting in the developer options to allow the bootloader to be unlocked. I've not tried to fastboot to work yet.
"Vanilla" ROM or at least vanilla dialer/phone apps?
I'm interested in some kind of vanilla dialer/phone/telecom app set (5.1.1 based) or a full ROM that's AOSP so that I can toss out T-Mo's "Wi-Fi Calling" and use the built-in Android SIP client with its normal configuration screens.
If anyone has accomplished the same with this device or any other T-Mo 5.1 based device, please let me know. I'd really like to be able to configure the system dialer to connect to my SIP PBX directly rather than use a half dozen hacks to give me half-working VoIP calling of my own.
(Note: If there's a T-Mo 4.4 based image out there, that would suffice, as I can at least make VoIP apps intercept dial requests, which T-Mo Wi-Fi Calling prevents on 5.1. This device shipped with 5.1, but it might be possible that a similar model's ROM image might work on this as well.)
/system image
anyone with a rooted 3320a that might be able to provide me with a stock(or rooted stock) image of /system? i managed to softbrick my device after rooting and i forgot to do a dd of the system partition before mucking around in it
thanks in advance

My Arise don't have a custom recovery either. This kind of disappoints me, as this phone is a good phone for the price.
However, I thought I'd share with you guys that Root Genius may also work to root the Rogue as it does root my Arise. (I don't own a Rogue, so I can't confirm this.) It's always better to have more than one way to root your phone safely right?

so i'm still trying to root the RCT6303W87M7. i'm not really trying to install custom roms on it, i just want root access. so to update, i finally got my pc to recognize the device; but i dont beleive that it's recognizing it properly. here's what i did, making sure that USB debugging & OEM unlocking are both enabled in the developer options, i did this:
1. hold the 'power'+'volumeUP' buttons until you get into recovery mode
2. once in recovery mode, go to and select 'Reboot to bootloader'
3. when the 'Fastboot mode' message appears at the bottom of the screen, plug in the USB-A male to male cable to the PC
4. if you have your device manager open, you will notice that it is recognized as 'Android Phone'/'Android Sooner Single ADB Interface"
i tried rooting with three different 'one-click root' pc applications: iRoot(v1.8.8), Kingoroot(v1.5.0), and King Root(v3.5)
these are the results i got:
-iRoot: it connects but the message reads 'Not support mode'
-Kingroot: it detects the device and trys to connect but gets stuck in a loop trying to connect
-Kingoroot: this detects the device as 'HTC Device'. i click the 'Root' button and it trys to root, but it only gets to 19% and then it fails
i'm theorizing that maybe if i get some different drivers for the pc or maybe making sure that the 'one-click root' applications are the latest versions might help. i dont know, we'll see.
again this is for the RCA RCT6303W87M7 running Android 6.0.
if anyone tries this and has more success, please let me know.
so to update on this, updated and installed the latest versions of the 'one-click root' applications and got the same results as before. let me know if anyone else tried this.
this is for RCA Viking Pro, model RCT6303W87M7, Android 6.0

that's what i posted in another thread
Any luck rooting this device? Would love if there were some custom rom that was downloaded. Don't use all the Google apps installed.

I have not rooted anything without a how-to. Prehaps someplace there is a how-to to do this but this is what makes sense to me:
My New Motivation:
At this point my issue is that the unit has not had any updates including security since i purchased it. I really expect more and it's to the point where I feel it might actually be more secure rooted than not.

I just searched , saw it could not be rooted easily and was like whatever.
Ideas about how to get started
Get the adb tools working and using those get as much information from the prompt as possible without root and share it all.
If factory ROM images are around or can be backed up from device then prehaps a disassembly of the ROM images and examination of settings files will reveal any interrupt hooks for getting root that are as of yet undiscovered.
Gleaning any information from online sources .. prehaps a tear down of the unit, we need to find the most similar models to this model family.
See if there is any information available from the OEM. Determine who did the Android build. ....
What do you think?
