fast boot enabled, locked and unable to get into recovery - HTC Droid DNA

I have an htc droid dna running cyanfox 4.4 its locked and i cannot get into it, it also has fast boot enabled so i cannot reboot into recovery, what do i do? Ive looked but cannot find anything like it.

Plug your phone into your computer. open a command prompt in your platform-tools folder, and type adb reboot bootloader. This will reboot your phone into bootloader, and from there you can access your recovery to do whatever you need to.

Sorry i forgot to mention but my usb debugging isnt enabled. And it being locked i cannot get into it to enable the usb debugging or disable the fast boot.

You are running a custom rom?
In any event, hold down power until it hard reboots. Once the screen shuts off, keep holding down the power button and press the volume down button at the same time, this should boot you into bootloader to access recovery.

Yes i do have a custom rom. I tried your tip but it did not help. When i tried (while the phone was on) the phone shut off and the second the screen went blank i pushed down the volume. But it did the same thing as always. Htc logo flashes twice then it boots up.

No, password locked so i cant get into the phone and change settings. And i cant do a factory reset because the phone has fast boot mode enabled, and i dont have usb debugging enabled. So im in a corner here. I was hoping disconnecting the battery would work like a hard reboot and kick off the fast boot but it did not work.

You don't need usb debugging enabled to do fastboot commands.

As ive said before, the phone is not in fastboot mode for programming. The fast boot im talking about is the mode on some phones that makes it boot up faster because it doesnt turn the phone completely off. Because of that i cannot reboot into my recovery or fastboot.

Holding power and volume up until you detect the reboot and then switching to holding only volume down overrides that. Make sure when doing this you are not plugged in.

Soooo, why not just input the password to unlock the phone, just a shot in the dark OR give it back to whom you stole it from?

do you get to the white Vibrant screen?
I would say try to get into download mode, and use odin to get back to stock. Just my $0.02
No, after the galaxy boot I get the dark blank black screen. But the menu buttons are constantly on...
Well at least youre not bricked.
you cant get into recovery by holding the volume buttons?
if not then I think ODIN is your next option unfortunately.
LAME! Well here goes nothin'...
'course i don't know everything, maybe there is some magical way to get it on... good luck.....
If you can get it to turn on and display Vibrant then you are not bricked. Boot into recovery and try and wipe. If that doesn't work boot into download mode and reflash the stock rom with odin.

I have tried over and over to boot into recovery as well as download mode to no avail. I called T-Mob and they are sending a replacement, but I want to wipe my device as well as recover my files. The real kicker is that I made a nandroid backup earlier in the day.
My main concern is if I reflash with odin, how do I get to download mode when I've tried a million different ways?

There are supposedly a bunch of ways, I find the way that works 100% of the time for me is. Dont touch the power button at all. Unplug battery. Put it back in. hold down both the up and down volume keys. Then plug in the usb cord thats already connected to your computer. Good luck.

Also try 3 button combo, when you see splash screen let go power and volume down but continue holding volume up(maybe will unstick volume down)

I can't boot the phone since i'm stuck at the "galaxy s2 screen" since my volume down is acting up i can't enter recovery "holding the button down"
either i'm doing something wrong, but adb doesn't recognize my device and i have the drivers. it sucks not have the - volume button not working.
is there another way that recognizes the phone to get into recovery?
could always get a jig to get into download mode, flash back to stock or another rom.
EDIT: next time, i suggest that app or setting up a recovery mode link in the power menu

the problem is that I can't use my "volume down button isn't registering" and adb doesn't see my device. in device manager all i see is galaxy s2 with an exclamation point. and the phone is stuck on the splash screen with the yellow triangle. if i could get into recovery i will be fine. the volume button is killing me right now. i need to get adb to see the phone i reinstalled all drivers and programs no luck. googled for 2hrs. struggling here
Sounds like a driver issue if the computer sees the device with a yellow bang on it.
I would check for another set of drivers and then select the device and do update drivers and point it to the newly downloaded ones.
I don't know for sure, but would a jig get it into a mode that would allow for a flash?
Did your volume buttons ever work? Are you trying with a case on?

Please help - Possible brick?!?!

Hi all,
My Transformer Prime will not boot past the initial Asus screen. It's remains stuck on this screen but when I hold power down, the device reboots. I am not able to get into recovery using power and vol down, then vol up. I cant turn the device off, it reboots every time. When I try to hold vol down while rebooting, the normal white writing doesn't appear, it just continues in the same loop at the Asus screen. I dont even get as far as the EeePad splash screen. I'm at a loss for what to try. I can get into recovery or fastboot and it wont connet to the pc. Am I screwed? All of the advice I can find needs recovery etc. The problem started when I tried to wipe the device. Could it have deleted the recovery image, rom etc? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

First, this belongs in q&a or general. Your problems have nothing to do with development.
Secondly, I posted a link a while back in the EOS3 ROM thread in reference to recovering from the exact scenario . The post includes which tools, drivers, and the process in detail on how I recovered down to the command for fast boot flashing the recovery ( which had a specific value for the device ).
EDIT:
Here is my detailed post. Try that and see if fastboot works for you. I was literally in the exact same boat not terribly long ago.

Aso I forgot to ask.... were you already on a JB boot loader? If you were on ICS, make sure you download the ICS blob for twrp from the link and not the JB blob. That's crucial because if you flash the wrong recovery, you are screwed lol.

Thank you for your response so far and apologies for putting the thread in the wrong section. The instructions given were great, only I am unable to get into fastboot. When I try and turn on the device holding vol down, it just boots normally. It doesn't give me the white writing and options I had before. I can't seem to turn the device off either. When I hold the power button it reboots, but doesn't shut down. What can I try to get into fast boot?
Thanks

I've tried holding the buttons down while it reboots but nothing happens. If I hold the vol up and vol down while pressing power, the device turns off completely.
The problem started when I tried a factory reset in CWM. It crashed after a few seconds and the device rebooted. Not there doesnt appear to be anything on the device. I havent heard of CWM doing this before.

Without fastboot and nvflash there is no hope for recovery except for calling asus and requesting an RMA.
It sounds like your device has the boot to recovery flag, but with a broken recovery, something which the bootloader has no exit path from.

Without a bootloader you will not get any output from the device, the bootloader is what displays the asus splash screen. Without it the device would just drop into apx mode.

Do not lie but don't tell the whole truth if you know what I mean
Don't go into too much info and get straight to the point, also don't show any technical knowledge.
"It doesn't turn on any more, it just flashes on a screen showing Asus".
"It wont turn off"
If you are lucky and they just look at it and not check what has happened they might just switch motherboard rather than messing with it.
Also try to run the battery out first. Harder to check
You shouldn't be covered at all because you agreed to that when you unlocked, but you might get lucky while staying truthful
p.s. I find my grandmother can get away with it more than me

And how did you try to go back to stock? Did you even get into the stock rom. Didn't you just forgot to flash the boot.img when going back to stock?

to flash a rom I
1. Switched off my phone,
2. hold power + vol down (to boot into bootloader recovery), just blank screen no boot.
3. hold power button + vol up, again just blank screen no boot.
4. when us connected led lights up, and PC detects as "unknown device found".
not booting at all.

GT-I8260 with broken screen (LCD and touch) and pattern, probably without recovery

Hello!
My friend has a big problem. He broke his phone screen (LCD and touch). His Android has pattern to unlock and usb debugging off. System work's - I see about 15 px of top menu and hear sound from speaker.
Is there any chance to recive data from internal memory? He broke that phone about 3 month ago and right now he probably don't remember pattern.
I try connect mouse and keyboard with OTG cable, but it does not work. I try push 3 buttons and open recovery menu, but nothing to happend.
It is possible, pattern locks are really simple to crack using adb (tons of tutorials online).
Once you have done that, you can try to use the good ol otg combo.
If that doesn't work, boot into download mode (usually power button + home + volume down) and flasha recovery (don't wipe the userdata). Then from there, adb can recognize it and you can create a backup from there and access shell to get the files.
Good luck.
