Hello all, and sorry for my newb-ness!
I was looking around for making my SGS2 "legal" again, flashing it with entirely "old" firmware, but the firmwares i found here, are not fitting the original description i have.
my phone ran (XWKI8 before rooting and flashing new firmware to it)
but the problem is;
[ROMS]Official i9100 carrier branded firmware download for Odin Flash
The only fitting my phone and operator is from the SP (3), where mine is Telia...
I even tried getting the ones from 3, but as the download links doesnt work, im pretty lost, can someone help me?
XWKI8: http://www.multiupload.com/H975DHZQLE
Firmware info: PDA:XWKI8| PHONE:NEKI2| CSC:HTDKI1
XWKI8 Stock Kernel:http://www.multiupload.com/4O6DVGUGSU
Password: [email protected]
can i just flash either one from "telia" and then update normally via kies, or whats the best solution?
i want the SGS2 so legal that i could turn it in to my provider for service!
or any firmware for Telia
or can anyone link to me to any firmware hardcoded with telia's info?
none of the ones linked in this forum, or others are valid... downloads just doesnt work, HELP
Telia

Are you based in Denmark? If so, then this would be the latest Telia fm from that thread. KK5 is newer than KI8.
Yeah... but the download link doesnt work!
and thats my problem, because i CANT find it anywhere
thanks for the reply though, but if you find a working download link for the KK5 it would be much appreciated!

You'd need the stock kernel relating to the rom, I've had no need to service so not sure, if anyone else who has had previous experience on this could help.
thought as much... and all the download links relating to the XWKK5 are busted
think im am going to try this one, until i find a legal one

Try Checkfus. There's a thread on here, search for it.
what should i do with that?
i dont need to check if there is an update, i just want either an older version kernel/firmware from Telia Denmark
which is working, so that i can update the old fashioned way!
or what was you intention with checkfus?
You can download the KI8 firmware with Checkfus. Try it & see

Nope. You can download them. I tried it late last week & downloaded VAUKJ1 for ****s N giggles. The download/decryption of the firmware works perfectly.

what to do if a Odin firmware upgrade hangs?
it hasnt been moving for a few minutes now, still stuck at the <ID:0/005> data.img part
just wait it out, or any other ideas?
can i abort it, and start over with one i know works?
Sadly... checkfus was of no help
but i got my phone running on the XWKK5 firmware, and it works ok!
but still not the best solution, i simply need the KI8 for Telia

Can you give me an example of how to fill out the info in CheckFus?
because its says error every time...
i've tried an exact copy of this:
Firmware info: PDA: XWKK5| Phone: XXKI4| CSC: OXXKJ3
help
In my case, in the standard tab I chose Android/GT-I9100T/Australia (Vodafone), then I clicked on check firmware. Checkfus told me KJ1 was the latest available, I clicked download, waited for it to download the firmware and at the end of the process it automatically decrypted it.
Which gave me a zip containing a tarball (just like the firmware in Intratech's thread) I can flash in Odin if I ever need to go back to stock.
See... I didnt notice if my phone is a regular GTi9100 or a -T, -N or whatever the options are, how do i find such info, because i was so smart not to make a backup of my current settings :-(
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
So... now i came this far:
my phone is:
Baseband :I9100XXKI4
Kernel : I9100XWKK5
so far so good...
but i have trouble appending the predictive and T9 dictionary... are there any addons i can get for these, because i really want to be able to use dictionary in my language (Danish + German and English)
please help
Nvm---
Found the solution (or rather the Firmware)
found an unmodified version, that had multilingual
thanks for ALL the help, greatly appreciated
btw, how to thank ppl in here?
Hi,
This might be a stupid question but which is the most stable GB stock ROM available out there as per your opinion? and what is the harm in installing a ROM with different CSC as to yours current?
Does doing a factory reset after installing a ROM, removes all the settings from your old ROM ? as in is it like a format on a PC?
Thanks in advance.

This is TOTALLY subjective, as you yourself stated with "as per your opinion", and usually starts a bunch of arguments. Which is why these threads tend to get closed. I expect this one to get closed shortly.

You probably won't get updates via Kies anymore, if you were ever able to in the first place.

A "factory reset" essentially restores the last ROM you flashed to how it was the moment you flashed it.
EDIT to add: to the above factory reset question... it does remove all user installed apps and data too though. So it is KIND OF like a PC format, but not exactly.

Hi thanks for the reply. No i don't want to start a long thread of debates what i meant was, is the latest GB 2.3.6 better and more stable than the 2.3.5? The reason i asked about the CSC was coz 2.3.6 is not available for my region so was wondering if it is more stable than 2.3.5 i would upgrade it!
I updated my system to 2.3.5 via kies and all the software & everything else was how it was before I upgraded to it, does kies reinstall the stuff?

I'm still on XXKI3, which is 2.3.5. It's perfectly stable for me. CSC only matters if you want releases through Kies. If you want to continue to receive Kies updates, then don't change anything. Otherwise, you can flash whatever CSC you want.

No. Kies updates are non-wipe, which means it won't touch the data partition, where your apps live.

one last question, when flashing a GB stock ROM which is not available in my country via KIES do i need to put the following in ODIN:
The .tar with modem in the name is the phone/baseband bit of the package
.tar with csc/multi-csc in the name is the csc bit of the package
.tar with code/PDA in the name is the PDA part of the firmware package
for that particular ROM? or is there something i shouldn't mess with?

no need to worry, any FW package you download should contain these 3 files, to select from respective sections of the ODIN
or all these in a single TAR file to select from PDA.

You've for sure got an I9100, right?
USUALLY, full firmwares are all inclusive. So they will contain modem and CSC already. So you just put it into the PDA field in Odin and leave everything else alone.
You only put modem and CSC in if the package you put in PDA doesn't have them already, or you want to overwrite the ones that are already in a package.
Make sure you don't re-partition, or include a .PIT file unless you REALLY need to, the .PIT file is FOR SURE INTENDED FOR YOUR MODEL OF PHONE, and you know what you are doing. Flashing a .PIT file for a different model of phone will completely hard-brick your phone, and there won't be anything you can do to recover it yourself unless you get your own JTag box. Otherwise, it will have to go to Samsung or a service point that has JTag.

Installed firmware XWLA4 it is working like a charm and it is much much better than any before. Before i had 2.3.3 and wen i upgraded to 2.3.5 from KIES i was disappointed by the lack of stability in 2.3.5, Now when i upgraded 2.3.6 it is far far better than any other stock GB available.

If you used MobileODIN, try reflashing the same ROM, but having the .md5 in the external SD card, not in the internal storage.
I had this issue once and that's what worked for me.
Anyhow, forget about the Brazilian ROMs (such as ZTO). They are all outdated already.
Get one from NEE (new) or ITV (newest). They are better, newer, leaner and work flawlessly in Brazil (and yes, they both contain Brazilian Portuguese).
may I ask you to show me which one (ITV) should I use? Or just tell me what country I should look for in checkfus!
Thanks !!

Raphael, if you're going to use the non-GUI version of CheckFus Downloader, this is the command line to get it:
Code:
CheckFusDownloaderCmd.exe -dl I9300XXALF6/I9300ITVALF1/I9300XXLF5/I9300XXALF6 ITV GT-I9300
Otherwise, for the GUI version, just copy/paste the parts below in the "Firmware info" of CheckFus Downloader 2.1:
Product Code: GT-I9300MBDITV
PDA: I9300XXALF6
CSC: I9300ITVALF1
Phone: I9300XXLF5
then click on "Check Firmware" and then "Download".
it was not so easy to find it in checkfus...I didn't find in gui version, and on nongui I downloaded, but after the download the program crashes and broke the file. 3 times.
But I found it at Sammobile, downloaded and already flashed! Thank you again!
Mine's also says CSC Unknown... I'm on Official JB Polish rom... do I have to flash that CSC package?? But what is the one correspondent to the Official JB Polish??
I have the same thing after the Polish ROM. Does having an unknown CSC actually matter for any reason?
Threads seem to indicate that it doesn't, and my phone is working normally, but maybe I'm missing something obvious.
CSC may play a part if your network has fast dormancy .
CSC essentially contains a list of network setting for local areas .
Example
<Country>UK & IRE</Country><CountryISO>GB</CountryISO><Region>EUR</Region><SalesCode>BTU</SalesCode><NbNetworkInfo>20</NbNetworkInfo>-<NetworkInfo><MCCMNC>23410</MCCMNC><NetworkName>O2 UK Pay Monthly</NetworkName></NetworkInfo>-<NetworkInfo><MCCMNC>23410</MCCMNC><NetworkName>O2 UK Pay & Go</NetworkName></NetworkInfo>-<NetworkInfo>
CSC code is part of the HDSWVER code that is used for Kies /Ota updates if anyone actually uses that route .

You have corrupted CSC, Flash the rom again in Odin as CSC, i.e. put the MD5 file in CSC instead of PDA and it will fix the problem.
You have better reset your firmware by using "Firmware Upgrade And Initialization" in your Samsung KIES 2.5.0.12114_1.
You don't need a correct CSC for your phone as it will just download the firmware for you according to the serial number you provided to the software. However, please back up your phone first as it may delete all your data.
Is there a way to fix this WITHOUT resetting? I didn't encounter it until recently. I assume it's something related to using Mobile Odin, but not sure.

I am not sure about that. Maybe you just try to download the CSC corresponding to your firmware version and flash it with odin, but I don't know if it will reset your phone.
Anyone who really does know how to fix this (or if it is even necessary)?
I also had this problem. Reflashing the firmware again fix it for me.

Reflashed via desktop Odin, rooted via Chainfire's latest root method. Reset. Flashed CWM touch. Device status is Normal and CSC is correct.
Just for future reference, in case anyone searches for this later. This was the actual problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950082
Simply reflashing the ROM via Mobile Odin and allowing the stock recovery to be flashed solved it. Flash the CWM recovery later, if you want it.
Works like a charm.

Look on www.sammobile.com/firmware for samsung firmware.Telia is not listed, also not on check fus. So i think you need this rom http://www.hotfile.com/dl/163050326/a3cfdf1/I9300XXBLFB_I9300NEEBLF1_NEE.zip.html for the Nordic countries. Install Triangle Away (here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114) first before flashing the rom with Odin to reset the flash counter. After you flashed the rom do a data/factory reset. Check first if the above rom i mentionedis the right one.

If i flash the new firmware again, do i need to root the phone again or does it "keep" the root i made earlier... Sorry for all the stupid questions i'm an old iphone fart. :silly:
I tried to search for a sammy wiki or something to become a little more clever about rooting, rom and firmware.
As i see it:
The firmware is kinda the phone bios, doesnt matter if you running a hacked version of the system or not.
The ROM is the "system" it might be stock or cyanogen etc.
You have to have a hacked firmware to be able root your phone.... Or am i totally wrong here?

If you buy Mobile Odin Pro and flash the firmware with that app you will keep root and you don`t loose no data. If you flash with Odin on your pc you will loose root and your user data will probably be deleted.
The firmware i just linked is it not possible to root using that and odin nonpro? Do i have to use an older firmware then?

Wow, Sammobile Firmware download for GALAXY S Ⅲ GT-I9300 now charging a €16.50 for a 30 days membership to download 1 firmware is pretty steep.
Edit: I just found some S3 I9300 stock ROM's here on Samsung-updates. They have BTU 4.3 & 4.1.2.
Why do you need a stock firmware?
Maybe you could try a XDA Samsung-based ROMS like NeatROM 4.3 which is using a repacked Samsung kernel? I used NeatROM 4.3 on my GT-I9300 for a couple of years with success, now on Official LineageOS 14.1.
Maybe after that you would need to flash a UK [MODEM] Radio for GT I9300 Europe.
Please report back if it works for you or not.

Thanks but it's already running a custom rom hence needing the stock one as i'm sending it in as part of my trade up to a Note 8. I've got the stock recovery and triangle away from the walk through on here but I still need the stock rom!

The file no longer exists on that link provided either.
To get mine when i had an s3 i had to google for offers for a trial period on rapidshare (the server samsung used at the time) and use the trial to get the fimware. Long winded but i got there eventually.
This is the link I have used:

Why did you link to the server instead of the website?
So people can find other Samsung stock ROM firmwares for other regions: https://samsung-firmware.org/model/GT-I9300/
GT-I9300 4.3 stock ROM BTU region: https://samsung-firmware.org/downlo...tional-__/o890/BTU/I9300XXUGMK6/I9300OXAGMK6/

I linked directly to the download .
