your phone is sim unlocked? you can check it by dialing *#*#7378423#*#* then service info > sim lock
[ ] and 0 means sim unlocked
[x] and any number means sim locked

[Q] No Sim card Message after unlocking

I have bought a new Xperia Ray ST18a from Telus (Canada). I have successfully unlocked it using a code, called my voice mail without a problem. Then I downloaded Sony's PC companion to verify if the phone's software was up to date. When the update was finish, I tried to make another call and noticed the "Emergency Calls only. No Sim Card" message.
I used the Sim card in my old phone and it worked. I used another Sim card in my Ray, the 'No Sim card Message' was still there.
I sent the phone to Sony for repair and came back with again the same problem.
Anybody have a clue what is wrong with the phone?
The SIM lock Menu it shows:
[x Network 10
]
[] Network subset 0
[] Service provider 0
[] Corporate 0
[] SIM 0
Phone software version: 1248-9545_4.0.1.A.0.283 Generic -user
File System Version: Telus_4.0.1.A.0.283
S1 Boot version: 1241-3656-R9A029
ETS software Version: 1247-1301_7
Rooting Status: Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No
It's locked again
They have network locked your phone again. As for the SIM problem, maybe the phone/SIM contacts aren't clean enough. I don't think it's related to the network lock/unlock.

Thanks for the reply.
I have checked the contacts and even applied pressure on them when the phone was restarting. Same results.
How can you tell it's network locked again?
With which code did you unlock?
Does any other SIM card work?
According to the Network value, seems like the SIM-lock is still there...Is the phone branded?

Yes it's a branded phone.
I tried another SIM card from another cell phone and I'm still having the same message.
I bought an unlock code from a unlocking service from the internet.
Learned something yesterday!
Not all cell phones can prevent the insertion of the SIM card the wrong way!
On the Ray you can insert the card the wrong way and you will be able to install the battery and cover perfectly. I have re-inserted the SIM card in the right position and the "No SIM card" message disappeared and was able to unlock it with the same previous code. All is now fine.
I don't mind looking like a foul and hope this thread will help somebody else.
Thank you for trying to help.

wow,
I did the same with fastgsm ( its X Unlock Tool looks incredibly similar to wotans -quite identic?)
And my phone is the Xperia Ray ST18i:
ST18i detects a SIM card when booting, for I have to tip the correct SIM PIN.
Wrong PIN leads to re-asking for PIN.
Right PIN completes booting, but then there is "no SIM detected - insert SIM card and reboot".
No problem, if I only take photos, just use gps and always can use Wifi.
But sometimes I really want to use my phone to make a phone call or use 3G internet connection.
Now I heard something about 'radio something fix' in software.
Even some SIM cards should be unreadable for some ROM ???
Somebody there with more profund knowledge about that?
chorknabe1
btw, DanyBerumen,
might be better to NOT update the firmware over the air FOTA
with this I knocked out my Ray after unlocking with fastgsm.
Fortunately I found a way to fix it again... -but still "no SIM is detected" :crying:

maybe the sim card is not properly inserted or there must be any problem with the sim tray, my advice is to take the phone to a service centre

[Q] [P] Problem after upgrade - sim card not found

Hi there,
a friend of mine just got a used xperia p. He inserted his sim card and it worked.
After that he started the current software update. And here is the point. Right after the update no sim card is recognized any more - always says "please insert sim...".
Service menu says everything except sim is locked with 5 possible tries.
I just made a downgrade using flashtool which seemed to free the phone again according to service menu - but no sim card is detected.
An update using flashtool leads to the same problem (locked).
What can I do?
Thanks in advance.

Same problem with xperia U after wrongly installed update for unlocked bootloader while my phone doesn't have it unlocked.(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2410391)
When Sim is in: IMEI and baseband not recognized, also, no service.
with sim taken out: Emergency calls available, imei and baseband detected.
tried reflashing, downgrading, nothing helped.
did you find any fix?
please try with different sim and post if it works or not.
Tried with 3 different cards of different providers. No Solution yet - any idea?

SIM Not Recognised

Sony Xperia M4 Aqua, model E2303. Replaced battery as the phone was completely dead. During testing, I put my pay-as-you-go SIM in the device and nothing happened at switch-on. No 'Sim Not Recognised'.....just 'Emergency Calls Only'. When I remove the SIM, I get the usual 'No SIM card - No service'.
The owner is unreachable at the moment and has another phone so I can't ask him if there were any issues with it before it died.
Are there any checks I can do to make sure the SIM socket is actually working?
Thanks in advance.....
UPDATE...Using Sony Xperia Companion, I get 'Your device is locked'. So now I know!
Any ideas on how to unlock it for pay-as-you-go use?
