[Q] Lenovo P780 System app kitkat - Lenovo P780

I have updated my lenovo p780 from JB to kitkat OTA last november, and it was running fine, not using root ever since on lenovo.
earlier this day, dec 7, 2014, there was a notification for a new OTA update, I haven't kept any screenshot on my version settings.
I downloaded the OTA was around 170mb, and it says that it will not erase the data, but after the update my Settings app is not there anymore,
when I tap it when I swipe up from the homescreen, it says "app is not installed" help guys how do I even do this? my system settings app itself is gone.

[Q] Is something like cwm for tablet s?

Im new on tablet s, and im wonder if there is a way to backup all the system like when i use cwm in other devices.
My device isTablet S SGPT111AR/S 4.0.3 r1a ROOTED by bin4ry method
im thinking to do this procedure
TWEAKS AND MODS SUBMENU:
[ICS-OK] Install "rescue-backdoor" - anti-bootloop protection, gives opportunity to reflash current firmware
if something goes wrong with modifying system things.
[ICS-OK] Run OTA ZIP autodownloader - you've got to have "System Update" notification to use it.
Make it if new OTA comes in, or after "rescue-backdoor".
[ICS-OK] Toggle OTA system updates and notifications - you can disable annoying update notifications
(after "rescue-backoor"). Also enable back.
but i have a question, what will happend if i do the rescue-backdor procedure, and then when the update notification apears i press update the system?
i will have a non rooted Stock 4.0.3 and thats it? or something could go wrong?
cheers
Yes that is correct. It will install stock ota. Use ota disable in aio
Ok, thank you

well, after doing all the procedure correctly:
[ICS-OK] Install "rescue-backdoor" - anti-bootloop protection, gives opportunity to reflash current firmware
if something goes wrong with modifying system things.
[ICS-OK] Run OTA ZIP autodownloader - you've got to have "System Update" notification to use it.
Make it if new OTA comes in, or after "rescue-backdoor".
after that process, i decided to update when the ota update notification apear, update download started and then the update process, when the update proces finishs the tab restart as ussual, but it get stuck on the sony logo forever, so i powered of the tab, then power on, the tab booted ok, but a window apeared saing something like update unsuccesfull error code 0
need some light here to install a stock ota again, any help will be apreciated
cheers
Ok, finally solved

[Q] Installed 2012.11.07 Update... need help

Hi,
I was previously current with the stock firmware, but rooted. I have OTA Rootkeeper. SU was backed up and did a temp unroot before the update.
After installing the OTA 2012.11.07 Update, every app at startup threw "Unfortunately, ... was closed" errors. I could not even launch any apps without them closing. Subsequent reboots ran through the "Updating Applications" cycle, but kept the same error result, basically creating an error loop.
I was able to "fix" it by manually installing the firmware update (now running 10.4.4.20-20121026 without error), but have lost root. OTA rootkeeper has no listing to restore root. So 2 questions (1 is very obvious, at this point):
1. Did I lose/overwrite the rooted SU binary or can this be relocated/replaced somehow?
2. What the root options (if any) for the TF700T Android 4.1.1 version?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

There was another OTA update? my crappy tablet hasn't received any update since the original JB update. It says no update available. ASUS website doesn't show any new firmware update files.
I (painfully) solved my problem. I flashed back to Gingerbread, got root, then upgraded to the latest Jelly Bean. This time OTA rootkeeper did it's thing. No idea why it was so broken before. Unfortunately, it removed all my apps and settings so I'm busy restoring for the night

[Q] Received OTA update on a custom rom

So I have an HTC One rooted and I just flased trickdroid 2.0.0 and in the notification bar it says "System update downloaded... touch to install." I've heard that you shouldn't install OTA updates if you're on a custom rom so I was just wondering how this came to be and whether or not I should install it. Is there any way to make the system update notification disappear?

LTE Tab Z Rooted - OTA Update Fails

Evening all i have been using my Rooted tab Z on 4.3 for a fair while now. But the Flickering is getting to much.
SO today i saw my 4.4 is ready to install via OTA.
I understood, that OTA means i will keep root?
Here are the problems:
Downloaded the 4.4 Update 369mb 10 times in a row
Click Install and it shuts down
Android Upgrading logo appears with a blue line underneath - Blue line dissapears and the tablet reboots
Back into tablet and still on 4.3
I DO have Custom recovery - I DO have SuperSU and i DO have Busybox installed.
I had Foldermount installed but disabled that to see if it was causing issues. Seems not.
Any ideas of how i can OTA?
I think If you have played with the system folder files removed some of them or something like that mainly it will not install.. You'll need to flash the system folder with flashtool (you will lose root). Root it again then you might be able to update it OTA ..
But No... OTA doesn't always mean you will still be rooted.
So best way to update it and have a rooted system is to follow the guide by ryany67 in the tablet z android dev. section and start from the 10th step.

Accidentally cleared MM update-how do I make it appear again?

I woke up and saw the update notification. But I restarted my phone and the notification went away. Went to system update and it says the update is live but there is no download button anymore. Says update will automatically download between 11 pm and 4 am. Problem is the update already downloaded. How do I make the notification pop up again to install it?
If you care about root then dont install it. But if you dont care about root then it should be able to update in the update section in phone settings.
So I guess you'll need to wait for those times.
For me it shows up ever couple of days (I'm rooted and have flashed modified rom so I don't want it).
Do a factory reset
If you want just the update use your comp and update with the lg program. I believe it's called lg bridge.
