OtterBox just released a Defender Series Case for the Sony Xperia Z3v. But does anyone know if it will be compatible with the original Z3? Because according to the dimensions specifications in GSMArena the original Z3 seems to be slightly and I mean slightly smaller compared to the Z3v.

The Z3v does not have a magentic dock from what i can see. The phone will most probably be a bit loose in the case anyway.
Well, I ordered one early last week and I'm expecting it to arrive tomorrow. It was an impulse purchase as soon as I saw that it was available, I thought that OtterBox made a typo mistake by saying Z3v because at that moment, I didn't even know that Sony had released an Xperia Z3v lol. When I get it, I'll post back and tell if it's somewhat compatible and hopefully doesn't sit too loosely in the case. I have a Nillkin 9H Tempered Glass Screen Protector on my Z3 which makes it a little thicker. I don't even plan on using the magnetic dock portion anyways on my Z3, just charge it normally with a microUSB cable.
Just got the OtterBox Defender Z3v case in today, not compatible at all with the Z3. It wiggles up and down when in the case and not only that, you won't be able to charge or connect a USB cable at all while it's in the case.
EDIT: The opening for the USB cover on the case sits over half of the port cover on the Z3 so you won't be able to pull the port cover out.
If anyone with a Z3v looking for an OtterBox Defender Series case for it, I'll sell mines if you're interested, just PM me.

I bought Sony Xperia Tablet Z few months ago. I was using official sony cover which came with the tablet. After 3 months of usage I found out that the screen has scratches where it is always protected by the cover itself. Therefore I gave it to sony and they replaced it with a new tablet. However, I cannot use the cover now and therefore I need a new one.
I am looking for a flip cover where I can charge my tablet without opening the cover.
Please suggest one. I am located in India.
I have used MoKo(TM) Slim Cover Case for Sony Xperia Tablet Z 10.1 inch. You can buy it in Amazon. I live in Norway and Amazon doas not post it to Europe, so ordered it from Aliexpress fro China.
BTW. After I received Moko Slim Cover, I have modified my original Sony cover the same way by cutting small window 50x22 mm, 25 mm fom the edge.
I bought a poetic slim case from Amazon. Works great! there is an opening in the cover to plug the cable in while the cover is closed.

Poetic slim will damage LCD, I stopped using it and had to return my previous xperia tablet z because of pixel damage. The tablet is so flexible that removing device from the case puts a lot, too much pressure on the LCD.
I then bought the sony case and I prefer it. Haven't had any scratches from using it, its smooth on the inside. I kept the built factory applied screen protector on the tablet

Sony case is good. Only applies presurre from the left and right side of the screen landscape. You can remove tablet just by sliding it in and out (as opposed to having to bend your tablet, lol) it also provides a bevel for shock protection and can be used with the charging cradle.
The poetic slim feels nicer and i would recommend this case if you plan on never removing your tablet againand never dropping your tablet or if you do not plan on using the charging cradle. I use the cradle because I think overtime waterproof feature will be better maintained and I have read reports of the USB connector breaking off. Want to save that connector for delicate flashing use only

Just sent a message to Case-mate to ask if the Tough Sony Xperia Z2 Case ( really nice case) included a cutout for the magnetic charging port and unbelievably it does NOT :crying:
If using the charging dock (which I would be) means that everytime you want to chage the Z2 you would have to remove the case

Yes that is an option, However I have now purchased the Bugdroid Circuit Case for Sony Xperia Z2 case from cruzerlite.com which has them in stock in 11 different colours at only $9.90 .
Cool design & really effective at protection, here's a video of Zedomax drop testing the same case but for the nexus 5,

I opened a ticket to ask that specific question and Renee Michael (wife of Joel Michael - Owner & President) confrimed that it does have a cutout for the magnetic charger.
Upon her confirmation I have ordered one in orange, they have just finished production so should be with me within a couple of weeks, but that's becauce I am in the UK so takes a while for delivery.

Would it be safe to assume the Sline TPU Case from cruzerlite comes with the same cut out? Both cases look the same apart from a different design on the back, I prefer the Sline as it looks more elegant
Had a cruzerlite case on my S III and it was great!

I would think so , it would be stupid of cruzerlite not to do the same with the sline case.
However if you really want to make sure, best to open a ticket and mark it as urgent , they always reply to me within a day
This looks like a decent TPU case for only a few pounds.
Good to see that the magnetic charging port is exposed and that the case is slightly recessed to allow for the stereo speakers while still protecting the whole top and bottom of the phone.

Just got my ultra today. I also got 2 cases delivered. Both of these cases neither one of them has a cutout for the charging dock ports. i have the dock and obviously want to use a case that i can use on the dock.
can anyone recommend a hard or tpu type case that will meet my needs? no idea why these cases wouldn't have the proper cutouts
I've just bought an Incipio Watson case which also doesn't have a cut-out for the magnetic connector.
I plan to spend two minutes this evening with a craft knife fixing the problem!

You could try the Nillkin fresh series. I didn't really like the plastic back but what i like is the screen cover and that it has a cutout for the magnetic charging port.
Unfortunately, just because a case has the cutout, doesn't mean it works. this is the one I've got and while it fits in the DK30 dock (with the bigger inlay), the problem is that the dock has the phone sitting at an angle and I can't get the magnet to "grip".
I tried my best modding the thing to fit, didn't work out. So good luck with yours, please report back if you've been lucky enough to find something that works.
I also use the magnetic charging port for charging. I found the following TPU case. I purchased one in smoke, and liked it so much I then purchased another one in black. Works great. Highly recommended!

After dropping my beautiful phone and getting the corner peeled I decided to look for this exact combo; a case with a charging dock connection cut out that works with a magnetic cable. As you guys already know the charging port flap becomes pretty flimsy after a while and I did not want to risk it breaking.
After much trial and error I found a combination that works.

I noticed a commenter on the review mentioned how much he disliked cases without symmetry...I feel like I might be the same way, but I'm not sure and would really like a case that could work with the dock. So do you feel like it's not really a big deal? Still comfortable to hold on to? Should I just get over it and get the case? Haha

Aye I really don't think it's a big deal. It's slim enough and it's black so doesn't really stand out as a distraction.
I bought a charging dock, and the case, and they should both be here by Tuesday.
I received the Nillkin today and unfortunately the Magnector X charging cable does not fit. I managed to trim a little bit on the sides though and now it works! Good to know before you order

I actually prefer without the case! Phone feels amazing metal and glass but a case just takes away that feel
I'll just be careful
I like to feel the glass back as well and didn't want to put a case. I am using a bumper to cover the sides to offer some grip

No, not the cable of course! I trimmed a little bit of the case where the lower part of the magnetic connector touches. You will see it when you receive both the case and the case.
Can anyone verify that the MagnectorX magnetic cable will fit alright with the Case Mate? I just ordered it up as it doesn't fit with my current case. It looks like it will be good to go, but just want to be sure.
It's all open side that end on the Barely There so yeah shouldn't be a problem.
The MagnectorX connector adapter will fit with the Case Mate Barely There, but it is not a completely secure connection. It will charge fine, but moving the phone while it is connected could dislodge it. The angle of the connector is very steep and leaves the cord very close to the case. On this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/accessories/magtrons-magnector-x202-cable-adapter-t2919541 it appears that the Magnector cable has more clearance. From those pics, it will fit with the case with trouble. The Barely There case works fine with the Z2 dock DK36, however. I purchased that dock since the price was lower than the dock for the Z3.
I also have a Sony XSP-N1BT receiver in my car (basically a dock which turns the phone into the face plate of the receiver and it has the magnetic pins to charge the Xperia phones) and with a little bit of fiddling, the phone will charge with the Barely There.
like the barely there case because of its slim design. but still would prefer a case that covers all the edge as well. maybe the casemate slim tough will be more suitable?
Since barely there is hard plastic, will it cause scratches to the phone eventually?
is The clear's finish is it the same as the black?
I didn't want to spend ~$40 on a dock, so this was the next best option. You can get the USB cable or USB Adapter

Im just curious though, the z2 had a problem where the magnetic port was actually coming of the phone when stronger magnets were used. I'm hoping this issue was solved with the z3. If you ever run into issues please share!

Nothing currently, I've used it a few times already a didn't notice anything!
Just got my magnector x cable here from Amazon. Paid roughly 25 with shipping to Toronto. Can confirm it works great ringke fusion case and Case-mate barely there case with nillkin tempered glass applied. No issues at all as both cases have a cut out and/open space for the pogo charging.
