Apps not installing to watch - Samsung Gear S

I am currently using a Samsung S3 with Scott's latest ROM. Anytime I download a gear app, in this case watch styler for Gear S from Samsung app store, it installs on my phone, loads... then crashes displaying " Failed to install app." It seems like the phone is unable to "push the app install" to the watch. Any Samsung approved app Engadget, timer, opera installs fine.
Any ideas?

Try Try again these apps for Gear S are hit and miss. Uninstall the app from phone settings manager and try to install it again until it shows up under gear manager

Turns out Scotts Cleanrom 8.2 isn't compatible with Gear manger. I installed AllianceRom 4.3 - Build 23 and successfully installed watch styler!

[Q] Android market not installing apps

Hi,
I am facing a strange issue witg my android market app on samsung galaxy tab 10.1.
I have 4 applications in the not installed list.
I choose install for all 4 and give permissiin to install, the applications are not installing, they keep showing up in the not installed list.
What could be the issue.
The problem does not go away even after reboot.
Srikant
Sometimes i find that i have to try and install the app twice before it actually starts to download and install.

Try signing into Google Talk and then go back into the Market. I'm not positive about Honeycomb, but previous versions of Android have used Google Talk as a type of authenticator that the device is registered to a specific user.
I've had this problem as well, sometimes dis/re-connecting to wifi works.
Check your app drawer, they are probably installed. I've been having this problem too. They show up as not installed in the market, yet I'm using them. Use the market report form, and tell them what's happening. I did and they asked for more deets and screenshots.
What I've noticed: If you check the box to add a shortcut, it doesn't happen
If you click the app that says it's not installed, it will show buttons to install and uninstall. Tap install and the list updates, even though the thing was definitely installed before. It has only happened with paid apps, but that may be a coincidence.
Again, report this stuff so they can address it.

[Q] Problems with Android Market

Using Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Android market if I try to install any app, it works like this:
10% of the time the app is installed immediately.
10% of the time the app is installed after 2-5 minutes
80% of the time the app is not installed at all, but the "waiting to install" message is just displayed for eternity. But if I go to the My apps page I can see the app I'm trying to install in the "not installed" section. If I select it there and click on install, it's installled immediately. So all in all I'm just hitting download and then go immediately to my apps not installed section to install it from there without any further delays.
This cannot be by design! Please help. All the relevant ports the Market App uses are open and forwarded in the router to the galaxy tab.
market update stopped working, have 28 updates queued

Exactly the same problem on my GT 10.1, the message "Waiting to install" hangs forever way too often when I try to install an app.
Didn't know about the trick with "Not installed", thanks for that.
What market version are you running? I had persistent issues after installing 3.20
I have the same issue
I'm using 1.0.28, the official latest version for the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Use "old market" to revert to pre 3.2 market. But 3.3 works fine for me... s

may be due to slowness in internet. try with high speed internet.
It's on a 32Mbit cable line. Downloading with the Android Browser gives 4 MBytes / second.
I also have this problem! I keep getting disconnected from google talk too. I wonder if these problems are related, since I've heard they both use the same connection to google's servers.
Just to add to the general mess here ... I'm also having the same issue.
Only after restard (sometimes after wifi reset) am I able to download.
I think I've fixed the problem. My mother's google account was associated with a hotmail address. After making a gmail address (from the same google account), she seems to not get disconnected from google talk anymore (after using it to log in) . If your google account doesn't use gmail, try making a gmail address and login with that!
I've had this problem since I got the tab (about 4 months ago) and of course it's had various updates since, none of them fixing the market issue. All I do is cancel the download and try again. this can take several attempts but eventually it works.

noob question, can't believe I'm asking this...

For the life of me I can't find "app connect" anywhere on the Fit (has the NE5 firmware, Kies says it's the latest one) or the manager app on my wife's new S5 active. Where is app connect so that I can enable Strava?
edit: I installed gear fit flashlight as a test and "app connect" appeared instantly and also works just fine. For some reason Strava never shows up in app connect. Uninstalled/reinstalled strava multiple times, restarted both devices too.
According to the strava website, the update version 4.1.7 removed support for the Fit. They claim it was causing issues with the app. You may have to try and fingers an older version of the app.
Try endomondo. Works well

I'm getting gapps FC on every reboot whenever I install a google keyboard (including L). Can't tell if it's actually affecting anything yet, but don't like the FC on reboot.

Are you running Xposed..., if you are disable it and reboot a couple times, could be from that. Just happens sometimes. If you're getting it that one time and nothing bad is actually happening don't worry.
Thanks. No, not running xposed. I may not worry about it if it's not affecting anything. Just see it on reboots.

Has anyone been able to get any other Android Lollipop apk files working? I cannot get gmail, google music, calendar, fitness, etc. to work on a rooted G3.
gmail, music, and others get the error message "application not installed because an app with the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed"
calendar just won't install at all, giving the error "not installed"
fitness installs but upon opening requires an update through the play store, but the play store is unable to find the app
I am running the latest version of google play services (6.1.83), on jasmine ROM with xposed installed and the "show all apps in play store" 240 dpi mod enabled as well as the G3 tweaksbox.
I could try going into the system/app folder and removing the gmail and music apks so I can update them, but I haven't tried it yet. mostly I'm concerned about the fitness app.
EDIT: I also tried the keyboard, and that installed okay, but any time I wanted to type any text the cursor would show up but no keyboard would show.
Thanks!

You could try removing the stock ones with TiBu then wiping cache and dalvic then try to install again.
If you back them up first using TiBu you'll be fine in case that doesn't pan out.

Pretty sure u will have to remove stock gmail...etc...replace with new apks...set permissions. That's what I've read so far. U can do this with root explorer or whatever root file browser u prefer.

I tried this. Google music and lollipop keyboard are working. Fitness.apk gives the same error as before, Gmail quits on boot (repeatedly) and if renamed to Gmail2.apk, downloads an "update" from the play store that reverts it back to the 4.4 version (previously the farthest I could get was "welcome to the new gmail" and you can watch a video about the changes, but once you say "Ok, got it", it force closes. Clearing the gmail data prevents the force closing at boot, but will not allow the app to get past the "ok, got it" screen.

Do u happen to have the newest version of play store installed? Just checking.
Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
I think so - I am using play store 5.0.32, play services 6.1.83. both install just fine on 4.4.2. I also tried everything with the previous 4.9.X versions of both, but that wasn't very productive.
I tried removing the gmail apk and all instances of com.google.android.gm, which I could find in /system/app, /data/app, and /data/data, then installing the gmail 5.0 apk or placing it in /system/app and setting permissions to rw-r--r--. Both of these result in a "disabled" gmail, which can be "enabled" in the play store. Enabling results in multiple force closes and the app cannot be opened. I wiped the app data and tried again to no avail. I then resorted to deleting gmail 5.0 through TiBu, and then tried installing directly from the play store. This results in a "version not supported" error during download, and the installation can not be accomplished. At this point I tried reverting to gmail 4.9, but it can't be installed, giving the "application not installed" error after going through the installation process.
Fitness.apk still opens and requires an update through the play store which cannot be found.
I wiped everything and reinstalled JasmineROM this morning to get a working gmail. I will update gms and play store to 5.0 versions soon.
The keyboard Force closes in landscape.

Yea the messenger seems to not be working for those on Stock ROMs, maybe someone has figured out how to use on stock if it's possible but I'm not sure myself, as I've said before I'm not on stock so it's working fine for me.
Hopefully once bump comes out and AOSP ROMs are available for the masses, messenger can then be enjoyed by more people.

Gear S doesn't heart iHeartRadio

iHeartRadio is not to be found among available apps in the Gear S manager, but when I install it on my Galaxy S5 via Google Play:
1) iHeartRadio sees that I have a connected Gear device
2) proceeds to try to install iHeartRadio on my Gear S
3) generates an error message about failing to install the app on my Gear S
4) proceeds to remove the app (!) from my Galaxy S5.
Both devices were configured to allow for external installs. I'm guessing Samsung wants to retain exclusivity for Milk, but I hope it doesn't mean they will also be blocking the release of TuneIn. I'm more of a news guy than a music guy, and I'd really love to see a streaming radio app land for the Gear S. Right now I'm making do by copying news podcasts over to my watch, but that's a pain.

Hm. Can you run a logcat on your phone?
Me too, have the same issue. Not sure if samsung is blocking it or if iHeartRadio is trying to install a version that is not compatible with Gear S (Gear 2?? - http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer...ar-2-and-gear-2-neo-smartwatches-is-available), as a result pulling off both the mobile/ watch installations!!

I installed the I heart app via Amazon app store on my note 4 and so far it seems to be ok. I didn't receive an error message after install and the gear manager didn't uninstall it. I will test this out for a day or two and let you all know if i run in to anything.
Ditto I installed iHeart from Amazon app store it stayed I do not have a iheart on my Gear S though not sure if I was supposed to have one or not
This is why I love forums. Thank you so much for the info. This worked.

I installed the Iheart app from the Amazon store, and it didn't install anything on my Gear S. Is there something I'm missing?
Is it still not working?
There is currently no fix for the gear 2, the app will only work on you phone at this time. I heart is aware of the issues and is working with samsung to get this issue fixed. Hope this helps.
I was able to succesfully install iheart on my Note 3 and Gear 2, when the Gear 2 came out. But on my Note 4 and Gear S, no success. Only option now is like whats already mentioned. And thats installing it through Amazon app store. That also wont install the watch app. But as a work around, you can use the media player on the Gear S to control the volume, skip songs, and pause/play.
