How to deal with photo album(s) and directories

Hello,
can anyone give me some hints (setting or extra app) how to deal with the mess in the gallery and album name(s)?
I have for e.g. a local HDD dir with name "holiday_2003" and plenty of subdirs.
In the gallery I get a separate album for each directory (instead I want a single album with name "holiday_2003")?
Also my music picture(s) are shown which I would not like (I mean cover art etc.). This may come from separate cover art files from within the music folder(s) and there may be no workaround.
With the Samsung gallery App itself there are not really many options to set this up.
Otherwise I would have to go into the SD card folders and clean everything up which waste(s) my time ;-(
Any advice or better gallery App I could use?
i did -
plug in phone goto sd card create forders pictures music notifications videoes etc
place your photo albums in pictures then they show indavidual folders in gallary same for albums just put ur music folders in music folder etc etc

Music on SD card

Hi,
I need an help: I put SD card with Albums, Videos and Music on my ZU.
I can see albums and videos but I can't see music on Walkman or Google Play...
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance!
Restarting the device usually makes it rescan for media on internal and external sd, but if it doesn't, go to apps, Media app (I don't remember the right app as I don't have the device now), delete cache and after a few minutes you'll have all the music in your apps.
If this doesn't work try again with Walkman app and Google Music app, delete cache and open app.
If none of this work, maybe reformat the sd card...
Tapatalked from my mother in law's horribly small, painfully slow, still at ICS LG 2X...
I have all music on my SD card but if some files not showing up I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.clypher.mediascanner
The phone does however rescan by it self most of the cases, It just need a few minutes to work
The phone should rescan by itself when you transfer files using an USB, but if you transfer wirelessly it won't do that. I transfered some songs with AirDroid yesterday, and I had to reboot so it would rescan. That's the unnecessary way of doing it, or you can trigger a rescan by installing an app that does this.

Music on EXT SD card not seen by Music Apps

I've been on my S4 for about a month, and have encountered an annoying problem.
I have about 10 gb of music in a folder called Music on my external SD card. I can see and pltany song via my files, or ES file Explorer. But none of my music apps (Samsung Music Player, Winamp, or Google Play Music) can see any songs that are in the Music folder. They can see music in the download folder on the sd card, but not the folder that houses my music files.
I've tried changing the default location in My Files, but that had no effect. I've cleared defaults, and tried everything I can think of, but no luck.
Has anyone else encountered this? How can I get my apps to see my music folders?

Try popping out and polling in your SD card. That forces the gallery to search for new files. Never know, that might be the problem.

Check for files called .nomedia and delete if you find any. That's really all I can think of right now

[Q] Movies App, Movies Small App Free Content

Hi
Q1) - Movies Small App
On my Z3TC, I have the Movies App version 8.x+ and recently got the 'movies small App' via OTA. I have seen a couple of tutorials on how to use this, but my Movies app does not give me the button that I need to display said video as a small app. Its just not there. I have only tried this with content already upon the device.
Q2) Movies App does not see files on SD card
I sync my movies using folder-sync. Due to the SD card restrictions in Kitkat, apps can only write to their own bit of an SD card under /android/data/com.app-name.blah As such I have foldersync sync all movies to this location. ANY app can read ANY location. How can I get the Movies app to see the hoard of video's under /storage/sdcard1/android/data/com.app-name.blah ?? MX Player can see the video's, the moves app cannot.
Q3) Free Content
The Sony bloatware is always asking me to create a sony account and sign in. Is it worth my doing this - ie are there any freebies to be had??!?
Nigel
I don't know about this Movies app since I have never used it. I'm using mostly VLC and MX player for video.
Anyway, you can use the preinstalled File Commander app to move your video files to any folder on the SD card. Because File Commander was preinstalled by Sony with system rights it can write to the SD card. It can copy, created, delete and move files in all folders on the SD card.

Is there a way to prevent album images from showing in Gallery

I got my spare battery and 200gb SD card from LG. I decided to put all my music collection on the card that way I dont have to stream it, which sometimes I cant in bad service areas. I put a lot of the music on the card and see that the album art is now showing in the gallery. Is there a way to exclude these images from the gallery? It has added a bunch of folders that are not needed.
Any info is appreciated.

Using a file manager, create a file called .nomedia in the folder that contains the album art. You may need a 3rd party file app from the Play store, not sure if the stock one lets you create files.
Edit: I just noticed this presents the music player from recognizing the music as well. I feel like I've done this before tho.. Lol
Album art file should be named albumart.jpg and they won't show up
If you use a tag editor to load the images ( this may require you to transfer them to the internal memory then back to the SD) then you can delete the files all together.
