[Q] Nexus 6 flip cover with qi support - Nexus 6 Accessories

Preordered my phone yesterday and now i'm looking for some case. I think that I will go with some "wallet" case. Does somebody now good case in this gategory which support wireless charging ? This type of cases look's so thick, that does wireless work with these ?

Wireless Charging should not be a big issue in a case, it mostly just depends on the quality of the Charger.

There are several posts here about the Case Mate folio stand case, with good reviews. It is reported that the case works with wireless qi chargers, and, for the most part, it is favorably reviewed. It is also fairly slim, if a low profile is important to you.

I recommend you not to buy a flip case if you frequently use wireless charger!
Hi,
I recommend not to use any flip case. Yes, wireless charging may interrupt sometime if you use flip case. It also reduces the charging efficiency of device. So better not to buy a flip case if you frequently use wireless charger to charge your device.

I have used only wireless charger with my nexus 5, and will do same with N6. Well, maybe I have to forget wallet cases. Thanks anyway !

Idea for Qi Charging Case

The magnetic charging docks are not bad. Also, the qi charging case from Sony is pretty nice. However, the best case would be a plastic case with a Qi wireless coil inside with a lead that wraps around and fits over the magnetic contact. Qi chargers like the Tylt work really well and they are so handy at home and in the car. I wear a holster so the flip cover is not necessary.

Sony Cancelled the accessory.
They also removed any trace of it on their official websites.

I know, that's why I asked if maybe there are some prototype floating around
I did not mean to infer that I had one of the Sony Qi charging cases. I may have purchased one had they been available. I prefer the a slim fitting tpu or hybrid case. However, none that I have found fit correctly. Sony's magnetic charging docks are great and work fast, but one has to remove his case to use them. Yet no one makes a good case that covers up the SIM/Micro USB cover and exposes the magnetic charging area. This is totally stupid. One only seldomly changes his SIM and needs access to the micro usb port, but one always needs to charge.
If Sony is not going to add a Qi charger in the phone, they should at least make some good folio and slim fit cases at a sub $50 price that can be left on while charging using the magnetic dock.
Also, charging with a car dock is a pain without Qi charging using the Z2. The buttons are all in the wrong place also and interfere with the sides of both my car docks.
It's a real shame that Sony has not made a better attempt at charging options combined with cases. The Sony Z2 is a great phone. Even better yet woukd be a removeable battery. This is the only feature that keeps me going back to Samsung.

I have been thinking about trying this. I have dismantled a magnetic charger and there are only 2 wires in there. Positive and negative. Is there anything stopping me buying a universal micro usb qi adapter and soldering the positive and negative from that onto the positive and negative of the magnetic charger and hiding it all inside a case?
That's an interesting Idea. I've thought of the same thing, though I wanted to connect to the magnetic charger contact rather than the micro USB port. I'd like to make a case with a Qi charger and FM radio antenna built in. It wouldn't take up that much space.
I hope someone at Sony is watching this thread.

I for one actually feel a bit cheated.
The did announce Qi charging capability through a case and plate and while I had to choose between the S5/M8/Z2, this was one of the element that I considered...
Now all of a sudden they decide to cancel...
Though I would much prefer a Qi charger, the magnetic chargers can be useful. I bought some cheap magnetic charging cables and cut some of the plastic off them so they would work with my phone's case on. The magnets are weak and it s a pain to get them attached but of charges quite fast.
I was hoping that the Z3 would come out of the gate with wireless charging. In a statement made a few months back, they stated they would have Qi charging by the end of this year.
Hopefully the Z4 will have it. They also need to put 32 GB of internal storage in their phones.

If someone made a QI charging case, I'd be willing to pay for it, as long as it looked good enough!
might be worth testing out to see if the WCR14 connector and charging type works on a Z2. i can see the connector alone makes the phone look much bigger.
Why sony decided to put a magnetic charge on the side is beyond me.
Did anybody get any where with this? I am thinking about getting one of the coils on ebay for the samsungs and modifying it, they look very slimline as I suppose they are design to fit behind the battery cover?
I am planning to have it sit inside a TPU case I have. The difficult part will be the magnetic part / Soldering....etc

WCD-100 wireless charger with cases

It would be good to write which cases can work with this charger.
example 1: I use this charger with that case (spigen, slimpack, puregear,...) and works perfectly
example 2: I try with that case (verus, tudia, caseology,...) and charging was bad

Please search around there's another OP with the same question and answers.
I look but didn't found. I found for universal chargers but i ask for this one. Because i think to buy one and it is not cheap to test with my case.

That is true, however there are quite a few posts regarding this charger in there.
Anyway I have the WCD-100 and it works well with my Cruzerlite cases. The Spigen slim armor is too thick and it charges very slow if at all. The same problem occurs with the Spigen ultra hybrid that I have. I would recommend a thin hard case or a TPU case. The qi standard is to charge from up to 7mm so you also have to account for the thickness of the charging stand and backplate. This leaves minimal room 3-4mm thickness for a case which isn't a lot.
I use slimpack case

I think that it will be big problem to use this charger. Because case have two parts.
Someone else?

I have this bumper but sell it because camera is not safe.
WDC-100 + Ringke Fusion - charging works, although it's slow charging mode

AirDock?

Kind of curious: has anyone tried the G3 with an AirDock:
http://www.theairdock.com/
Wondering if the curved back presents any problems with adhering to the micro-suction surface of the dock.
I have one and the charging works great. Only issue is that if the pad or surface isn't clean the phone doesn't like to stay put. The surface is some kind of nano technology. In my opinion it needs to be improved and the magnets need to be improved. The curved back does limit the overall contact surface area but I am getting a new SUPCASE and I am hoping that the material will stick better.
I have the AirDock, and it does not work with my cheap, Chinese Qi charging sticker. The very same sticker works on my Tylt Vu, however. I'm curious what Qi receiver you guys are using.
Thanks!
I found a couple of posts here on XDA that indicated the magnets in the Air Dock interfere with the Qi stickers. Air Dock (the company) doesn't recommend the mount for use with the G3.

Though on their website it clearly says supported (with additional hardware.) I assume this to mean with the QuickCircle charging case, which is horrendous and annoying. You are spot-on regarding the magnets. I asked if those can be removed, and support responded that they are necessary to keep the phone from sliding off. I am not convinced that is the case on the G3, because the phone slides off VERY easily without some sort of flat-back.
Sounds like G3 owners should just wait it out...
Me:
Howdy Howdy!
I noticed that the LG G3 is officially 'supported' (with additional hardware,) on your site, and I was curious if any developments have been made? I am still using the cheap Chinese sticker with my Tylt Vu, but of course that doesn't work on my original AirDock. Is there a recommended charging sticker, or do you guys still recommend the Circle case?
In all honesty, it's hard to recommend the naked G3 on the AirDock, because it can barely hold it. I have to clean my foam almost daily for it to stick, because the phone's back is curved. My friends with flat-back phones never seem to ever clean the foam and it works great.
Thank you!

AirDock Support:
Hi Steven,
There are a couple things that are going to be better about Version 2.0 and the G3.
The transmitter in V2.0 will work well with that aftermarket receiver sticker. That's the biggest difference. It's an upgraded transmitter from V1.0
We will also be supplying a special version of V2.0 that will be curved to match the back of your G3 so that you can have the same grip strength as your flat backed phone owning friends!
Thanks
Me:
Whoa, that's awesome! I wish there was a trade-in option because I've been pretty bummed about this one, despite getting a few friends to pick one up for their more well-suited phones.
Thank you for the update!
Sounds great, but I already came up with my own solution. I grafted the Qi charger and phone clamp from this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M685JTG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (made by the same company as the Tylt Vu)
With the sticks-anywhere micro suction base of this:
http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Windsh...UTF8&qid=1417825105&sr=8-1&keywords=iottie+xl
My only real complaint is that the Qi emits a shrill beeeeep every time it gets power (i.e., when I turn the car on).
But if the Air Dock 2 described above had been available, I probably would have bought that one. Good news for future buyers.

I have the original airdock and have been using it with my G3 with no problems. I have a thin ringke case and use the airdock sticker and it charges fine. I'm considering getting the LG g3 slim guard case because I don't like having the sticker on my phone. I read someone on here write that the LG g3 slim guard case sticks to the airdock.
What Qi receiver are you using?
I'm using a replacement battery cover with qi sticker that I bought on Amazon. I'm guessing the company puts the sticker on an oem battery cover but it has qi and nfc

Strange, then you are the first with an AirDock to get it working with the Qi sticker. I have followed the threads very closely, and even AirDock says it won't work. Do you have a link to the sticker/cover you bought?
Thanks!
I do... But I don't think I can post it. But if you go to Amazon the seller is 38 Ave. It's an oem battery cover with qi and nfc. I also just ordered the LG g3 slim guard case. I've read it works and sticks to the airdock.
I finally received the original LG g3 slim guard case. It is for the US version. It works great with the airdock. Sticks to it and charges it with no issues.

When you drive with GPS on, screen on, streaming music over bluetooth, does your battery stay charged? Mine won't even do that with a 2-amp USB connection. :/

Regardless of the input to the Qi charger, current Qi coils output at most 1 amp. But to answer your question, no, mine slowly discharges under the conditions you describe. If you're doing that for a long period, unplug the cable from the dock and plug it into your phone.

Dang. That's the entire time I've driving -- always. I should have done more research on Qi before ordering the sticker or any of these chargers. My Tylt has an almost impossible time keeping my phone charged when streaming and keeping the screen on at work. Nothing else going. Just heats up like crazy.

I don't seem to have any issues when I'm not streaming or using GPS. Just keeping the screen on seems to be fine. Make sure you're using a good USB cable. I found a couple of cheap ones I had wouldn't keep the phone charging consistently - it would keep cycling in and out of charge / discharge modes.
This won't help now, but there's a new Qi standard in development that is supposed to provide higher rates of charge. I do wonder how they'll deal with the extra heat, though.

I need a wireless battery cover

What the best wireless battery cover for my note 3, need to use the new option in 05 camry.
Thanks
You can find the Samsung OEM wireless charging battery cover on fleaBay for around $15.
I notice that there are also Mugen "wireless ready" covers that fit their extended batteries for $20. Kind'a cool if you don't want to ever be concerned about how much charge you have - and don't mind a fatter phone.
I'm pretty sure that neither the OEM not the mugen will work with any of the "standard" cases.

anyone know if I get a Samsung oem wireless charge back cover if it fits into a otter case and if it will charge through the otter case?

I don't know about an otterbox, but mine will charge through a UAG case when positioned correctly (edit: aftermarket coil in stock battery cover).
I got the wireless charging cover for $15 shipped on ebay, from a US seller. Came in retail packaging.

No it doesn't, won't fit in the inner clam shell. I use a Qi coil that lays on your battery from amazon for $10, works great with otterbox defender case on.

It works through a thing TPU/gel case, which is my preferred type.
I use this one with stock back and with S View cover (fully functional), and there is a slight bulge but not bad. With the stock back, no issues in any of my cases.

The retail Samsung wireless charging back consistently gets 25-30ma more when charging. Not really enough to make a difference. Wireless charging takes ~3x as long as using the stock Samsung adapter and USB 3.0 cable IME. I swap batteries when I need to be fully charged. I use wireless just because it is so convenient to set my phone down on a qi dock at my desk or my nightstand.

CZ Eddie, yup, kickstand4u kickstands are back in stock - yours was shipped today! Thank you for your order and support!
FYI, I have a Sprint LG G3 (rooted) and a LG G4 (stock) both with wireless charging backs with a kickstand installed and a 3 coil TYLT charging stand - they both work fine, but it seems that the LG G4 is not as finicky in placement on the stand for a good wireless connection.
I bought the sview wireless charging cover approx 1 year ago via amazon, around £35. Highly recommended, works beautifully. You wont regret paying the extra cash.

Ravpower Qi Car Charger Review

Hey guys!
Thought I would post a review for this Qi wireless car charger since I didn't see much info about it and help those in deciding one for their car.
I have been using this Qi wireless car charger for about 4 months. The weather here is summer now so the car interior does get super hot, and so far this charger has been working like a champ in the heat.
The charger comes with a bunch of accessories which include:
-Vent adapter holder
-Traditional suction cup stand holder for dashboards
-Micro Usb cable
-Usb car chager (1 input)
-Sticky pads for wire management
I used the suction cup on my dash since my vents in my car are not ideal for my setup. The Qi charger is made hard sturdy black plastic and the section where you place your phone is made of a softer grippy rubber that holds the Nexus 6 very well. There is button on the back that release the two arm clamps. The Nexus 6 being a big of a device I thought it would be a tight fit, but I am happy to report that there is plenty of space. I have a Caseology Case and still a bit of extra room on the dock. So for those with thicker cases than mine can still fit, but in terms of it charging through a thicker case is something I do not have to test, but for those familiar with my case which I will put a link on the bottom of this post, my phone charges perfectly fine with it. Also the Qi charging unit in this has a 3 coil system so placement is not an issue and wireless charging is maximized and efficient as possible. There is a LED light on the bottom that indicates if it idle or charging, Green means idle and Blue means charging. The cradle of the charger is very sturdy and holds the Nexus with ease, have not had it drop my phone (yet) and hopefully stays that way. I use the charger everyday for the past 4 months and yet to encounter an issue, remember I am using it 95 degree weather for the past 4 months and it has not died on me yet. Once winter comes I will update on how it handles the cold, hopefully like a champ as it does in the summer! I attached some pictures for everyone to have a better look at it. Overall I am very happy with this charger and highly recommended!
Any questions about this product let me know and I will try my best to answer and help!

If you mean having the suction cup on the windows then yes it works even better cause the surface on the glass gives it an even better grip.
