[Q] Help! Ace dead :( - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So this is my first time I'm actually writing on XDA
Earlier in the week i had successfully flashed cm11 on my Ace gt-s5830i but found that it did not support SIM cards so i did a little research and i found out that by flashing the modem of galaxy y i could use my SIM but after downloading i opened it and saw that it had the pda modem csc etc and put my phone in download mode and by mistake flashed the pda of galaxy y on my ace and in the end when it rebooted 1/3 of my screen was black and white dots and the other part had galaxy y written on it. i knew i was screwed because suddenly the flash turned on and the menu and back button lit up and it refused to go into either download mode or recovery mode . I tried a usb jig but failed and i don't know whether I failed to make a good jig or the phones dead. Help tell me what to do!!!
I do not know if i will be able to find anyone here with a jtag riff box
Thanks!!

[Q] How to unbrick samsung galaxy s2

Having recently installed a miui rom, i found that my phone has become brocked. I can go to dwonload mode, and I can turn it on but there is only a blank screen. Does anyone know how to unbrick it?
Thanks
go into download mode open up ODIN and flash a stock ROM. Simple as that.
you should buy a jig to get download mode. Did you tried recovery mode ?

to get recovery get into download mode open Odin and flash CF-Root Kernel and then try to get into download mode that way.
I flashed the CF Root Kernel (XW_CLK_KF3), but it failed in Odin

onli flashing pda wont work i thinkk... you may need to repartition
go to http://androidflip.com/android-2-3-4-gingerbread-xxkg3-firmware-update-for-samsung-galaxy-s2/
flash it by repartitioning
download the package in it. it worked for me
Where can I find the stock ROM for a Bell Samsung GS2?
try samfirmware.com
they have all of the official released firmwares based on geographical region.

my t-mobile galaxy s2 is dead after ICS upgrade failed
i am noobi. my galaxy s2 went through 2 stages before becoming dead.
1. i tried to flash I9100XXLPQ_I9100OXALPQ_I9100XXLPQ_HOME.tar using odin. it got stuck in connection mode. then failed. when rebooted the phone, i got a message "firmware upgrade encountered an issue".
2. now, odin still sees it. I tried different ROMs then the phone becomes dead. the phone is dead even after pressing the vol up+vol dn or any other key combination.
Now, windows 7 reports driver error when connecting the phone via usb. Linux sees the Qualcom modem, but heimdall failed to detect the phone. Any suggestion beside throwing my phone in trash is appreciated.
If you can't get into download mode (home/power/volume down), only thing you can try before you send it back to Samsung or get it JTAG repaired is a jig, which unfortunately is unlikely to work. Still worth a try tho.

I had the Exact same problem as you this is what you need to do.
1. Take everything out of your phone micro sd ,sim battery
2.Get your Usb Port and connect the first side to your pc but not to the phone
3.Insert Battery
4.Hold the vol down butt and at the same time connect the Other side of the cable into the phone then you will see
DOWNLOAD MODE!!!!!
5.From there install your sock rom again using samfirmware.com
6.Done

[Q] Phone is bricked.

Hello friends,am in serious need of help,i plug in my ace to my computer using the cable and kies detected a new firmware which i tried to update to,after downloading finish to 100%,my phone restarted and shows downloading on the screen, for like 1hr it didnt change to any other thing and kies couldnt detect the phone,so i disconnected it from the cable,i removed the battery and inserted it again, now the phone can start up but all i can see on the screen is a computer icon with a phone icon,i dont know what to do,pls help...anybody with useful information or solution should post it here thanks.l
Remove then insert battery. Then try holding volume down and home button while holding power button. Will it go to download mode? If yes, read hubix's tutorial in the development subforum it's a sticky thread.

Next time , use ODIN for flashing firmware . Kies was NEVER EVER reliable .
go to recovery mode perform a factory reset/data wipe that should fix it
Please use ODIN and flash with the one-package file from samfirmware. I did the same when Kies bricked my phone too while upgrading to Gingerbread. It works!

Nope, there is no recovery mode accessible either when Kies bricks your phone. Happened to me so. Just a stupid screen with a computer and phone icon with <!> in between them. But anyway my suggestion above of using ODIN should help him out. =)
I am just sharing my experience and hope it helps.

I had bricked my phone once where I could just see black screen and after some tries white screen and nothing. I removed SD Card and SIM Card and kept it aside. I then removed battery and tried putting phone in download mode. It still did not work then I waited 4-5 min and then inserted battery again. Then I tried putting phone in download mode and it successfully gone in download mode. Then my phone was not getting recognized thru USB cable for ODIN. I changed USB port still same issue then restarted my PC and then I connected phone to USB port and finally got Froyo installed again on my Galaxy Ace thru ODIN.
My phone is bricked

thnx for the help but it isn't a boot loop but it just won't start up
only thing i can do is to push it in downloadmode after falshing original sw it still doesn't start?
is it bricked now?
need desperate help now snifsnif
I would follow the boot loop instructions first .
1) Turn off your phone. Unplug it from your computer etc
2) Hold down home, power, and volume UP. This will enter recovery mode. If you are using CF-Root, you'll get CWM recovery.
Do you have in CWM recovery Mounts and storage if so Format data system cache and sd card .
Followed by boot to download mode and flash stock rom .
jje
problem is i can't get in recovery mode either not original or cwm
so that is why i can only flash through odin
flashing original fw at the moment with odin but it is hangin now for about 5 mins. now with writing factoryfs?
Ok lets try flash CWM root via Odin
Root + CWM .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Then enter recovery .

ok did what you said but it started by giving boot image with triangle but after that nothing can't get into recovery or download mode
only thing is that it still gives a battery pic when i put it in power socket
is it really broken now?
trying to get the original fw/sw on but is it normal that it takes so long to write factoryfs on th phone?
No should not take more than 10-15 mins to flash in full .
Edit it was broken from your first post but we can recover 90% of the time .
You are out of options return to service centre and say it failed during a Kies update .
jje
now it worked with frankensteins fw xxxk3 startss up with original samsung letters without triangle but it won't boot or startup as it supposed to do?
when i use vol up+home+power i get a grey battery icon?
samsung centre not in neighboorhood only thing to do is get it back to vodafone shop where i got it.

So at the moment you cant even get into download mode, you need to tell us exactly what files u were trying to flash and where you got it from, it;s very difficult to brick this device
was flashing sensation rom then it turned off after that tried several times to get the original fw to get it on but i could still get it in downloadmode after flashing frankensteins xxkh3 fw it turned off and now it's still down won't start up anymore screen keeps black and no vibration at all butt warms up when in power socket but i don't see the bat icon anymore
allrigth i did bricked my phone i have black screen and nothing happened and is on his way to samsung service center to be repaired?
i'll give feedback when it returns hopefully by next sunday.
can anyone tell me if they can see if it's been rooted after i put original fw back before it died on me.

If the phone is not responding to any button inputs now, your only choice is a JIG that may be able to force download mode, if that doesn't work, a de-bricking service

Guide: How to fix a bricked SGSII from failed flash, no recovery & no usb recogntion

Guide: How to fix a bricked SGSII from failed flash, no recovery & no usb recogntion
Now Fixed. - Thanks: Below is the guide to how I broke and fixed it with a little help from my XDA Friends. Maybe the MODS could sticky it as a unbrick guide to go alongside the rest?
So I was flashing a ROM through Odin as per the instructions on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
The flash failed and when I restarted my phone I was left with the following:
1)No Access to Recovery Mode through Vol Up + Home + Power
2)Access to Download Mode through Vol Dwn + Home + Power
3)PC would recognise a device was connected on any USB port but kies or Odin Could not detect the phone
4)when phone started or attempted to be put into rec mode just a splash screen saying firmware upgrade failed and a picture of a phone and pc with a yellow warning triangle.
The Cure:
1)Uninistal and Re-Install Kies and Samsung Mobile Device Driver
2)Pureley by accident left my phone connected on flash screen of death through the process and on loading ODIN it connected perfectly right away
3)Set PDA to ROM and flashed.
4)Reflashed as per normal routine again due to boot loop this time in download mode.
5)Factory Reset via Recovery Mode to force CSC update to match ROM
6)*When it arrives use USB jig to re-set flash counter to 0*
Step 2 is not advised as goes against what all the instructions say, please try download mode before this method I don't know if it was just luck I didn't further mess up the phone, but to be honest bar screwing my IMEI it couldn't get much worse! And as I said I found it by accident and it worked. Don't know if anyone has an explanation. From the message on the screen and what I read on Kies ref the emergency recovery I think this is a kind of emergency download mode for when stuff goes wrong as it hints kies can fix it from this screen.
I tried to flash the 02 2.3.5 file from the carrier branded thread, followed all instructions. File was a .tar.md5 i left as is as per instructions.
the flash failed when the phone powers up i get upgrade failed, I can get to download mode but odin doesn't recognise the phone as being connected ive tried multiple usb ports
kies also wont recognise it
i cant access recovery mode
is there any way back?
ive read most of the other posts but don't seem to be getting anywhere other than fustrated!
In kies there's an option to install drivers, try that first and see if it'll find the phone again.
kies
no joy that root, the pc knows its there as every port i plug into it wants to install drivers for device and does so
Remove Samsung Kies from phone and reinstall it and try again .
jje
Cheers will report back, what i don't get is why i cant get to recovery mode would make things easier! Can a jig do this? If i try i just get the failed update screen
I also get same. Screeb when plugged into charger does thos mean its not even charging?

Its stuck in the warranty repair centre, I dont expect it to be fixed, so will try this soon when it comes back !
Lol i spent ages reading multiple posts about bricked phones nothing seemed to be working do asked, someone suggested the kies reinstall, then by accident i deviated slightly from instructions in terms of not disconnecting phone and leaving it on brick screen and it happened to work
Alot of people flame for posters asking previous questions but these guys were really helpful to me.

put the phone in download mode (hold volUP, home, power)

On that screen, the phone is effectively in Download Mode already.
Just connect Odin and flash away, did it on my phone a lot of times already (I sometimes forcefully enable this screen manually - don't ask why - and always flashed directely from there.)
Thanks for that i didnt realise till after I'd flashed that this was still download mode, i was still in flappy panic "dude i bust my phone " mode. Still trying to find out why windows ****s up the drivers when the flash bins out

[Q] Cold dead hard brick S5830i - what is the last resort?

The story:
Got a phone with some software problems when calling from a spouse. Tried to update the ROM and it bricked.
Status:
endless loop of bootscreen
could enter recovery mode and boot CWR
can not enter download mode
unable to boot system
Tried endless guides and instructions with stock ROM's and firmwares. Some of them installed some didnt - none worked. Still in endless loop.
Gave up yesterday and went to bed to keep trying today.
Now its totally bricked.
- no recovery mode
- no download mode
- no boot screen
- cant connect to PC via USB (Odin wont recoqnize)
The only sign of life - whatever I do it has black screen with backlight on but nothing else.
What can I do? They say that a broken phone is only with hardware problems but could I have f**** up the software so much that its the same?

You can try this guide by @SuperMini to force open Download Mode from odin. Here is the link,
How to unbrick Samsung Galaxy Ace
Make sure to use the key combination of Download Mode for your device as the one mentioned in the guide is for Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830. If that doesn't work, then you can try the USB Jig (not always guaranteed to work). If USB Jig did work, then it will force open the Download Mode so you can flash stock rom back using odin. If USB Jig doesn't work either, then your last option is to consult the Service Center. Do post the result. Hope I Helped

1. make sure you have installed drivers on your computer
2. remove battery > connect phone to computer > press volume buttons and lock key
3. if you get a black screen just press the volume up button.
odin will recognize the device
if this does not work then try multi-formatter
using it, format rfs partition and then install some custom rom.
