I can't believe someone is actually selling the INFO to open a new Sprint SERO account for $190? Really, its easy to get a SERO account for FREE! just google it and your done... jeez and this guy has sold numerous "plans" stealing someones hard earned cash. He seems to want to lure you in thinking that the evo 3d in included but there is a catch.
He then goes on to say that you are just buying access to the site to create your account and you still have to buy your phone plus pay any other fees associated with it.
check out the listing here BUT DONT BUY THIS IM NOT PROMOTING IT
his listing says:
Up for sale is Brand New Sprint Sero Premium Plan with 2-year agreement with sprint. This plan is $40 a month.
You can buy any new phone you'd like from Sprint's website. Even the new HTC EVO 3D!
Remember you pay for the phone separately. This price is just for the plan.
If you select a SMARTPHONE then its $10 a month extra.

I emailed him asking if he was a sprint authorized dealer, and I also mentioned that I called sprint to ask if the $190 fee was a one time fee or if I had to re-pay it every 2 years. and they didnt have an answer, so I would like to know if he knew? haha LOL. just hope nobody here fall prey to this guy.
If this has been posted b4 sorry, just dont want any of us e3d'ers to fall prey to this asshat.

Sprint Employee Referral Offer or something like that. I use to have it a few years back when I had my Touch Pro. It's pretty much just a discounted plan. Kind of hard to keep when you get newer phones because they try to make you switch plans.

The sero plans seem ok, but if you really wanna save some money you gotta get on the wireless advantage club. I pay $40 a month for 500 mins, unlimited data 3g/4g, unlimited texts, tv, gps, etc etc. The base is $20 + $10 for "iconic devices" (basically any decent phone) + $10 for any phone with 4g. But you have to know an actually employee willing to put you on their plan

How is 500mins for $40 a good deal? Do they still give you mobile 2 mobile free? If not, how can you use that plan???

The lowest non sero plan with unlimited data is $80. If you are like most people and only use small minutes every month, you save $40 a month and the taxes are cheaper.
Keep in mind SERO is dead, and the new plans are EPRP and are ~$20 more than SERO and the only way to get an actual SERO plan is from someone who has one adding you a line, then transferring it to it's own contract, people have been doing this, and charging a premium amount of $150-$200 since 2008.

My girlfriend and I are on a plan where we share 1500 minutes. With 12 days left in the billing cycle, we've racked up a whopping 186 minutes between us. If I could have a shared plan with 300 minutes on it for much less, I'd love that -- email, instant messaging, and texts have pretty much eaten into actual phone calls for me. Neither of us has a land line, btw.

Exactly. I have the advantage 500 min plan and I use MAYBE 150 minutes a month outside of mobile to mobile and free nights and weekends. Not to mention we get yearly upgrades.
Advantage Club is awesome. Being an employee was more awesome though.
I have 2 epics on the $129 plan, less 20% though. That's 1500 minutes w/ free cell calls and nights/weekends, and unlimited everything else as well, which makes it $51.x / per line.

Not really. People will still need data plans. At most, Google might be snatching the small percentage of people who don't mind paying more for an unlocked device rather than the majority who tend to buy subsidized devices on contract.
Well If you go to a carrier with a phone that is yours outright. They cannot make you sign up for a data plan.
If you brought an unlocked Iphone to Tmobile, they have no reason to charge you for a monthly data plan..
However if you decide to use it with out a plan the price would be costly..
but you can just use Wifi..
that is how I had my Iphone working a few years ago on the tmobile service..
I never had any issues.
You get a cheaper phone through them. how ever they make up the money in the data plan.
So Google did sorta screw the carriers..
Actually the customer gets screwed and the carriers benefit. If you buy a $200 phone, you pay $100 a month for a data plan. It's $100 a month because instead of paying full retail for the phone, you are paying a little bit of it each month via your plan. So roughly $10-$15 of your bill each month is covering the cost of the phone.
The problem with buying an unlocked phone from someone else, is that the carriers don't discount the price of the monthly plan for you. So you still pay $100 a month, but you paid $400 for the device instead of $200. So you've been screwed $200 basically.
Now from the carriers perspective, they love this. Instead of taking $10-15 a month to recoup what they lost on the phone, they charge you that money anyway and it's pure profit.
When the original iPhone was released it was unsubsidized and people laughed at the $600 price. But, for $20 a month you got unlimited data and texting. so yes you paid more upfront, but your bill was $20 a month less than a comparable subsidized phone. So over the course of 2 years it was a good deal.
Unfortunately, I don't know of any carriers that will discount the monthly plan when you bring your own phone.

Realy?! My data plan is $30/month 6gigs regardless of the phone I use. If I get a new phone from them ,on say a 3 yr contract, I don't have to get a new plan. How does what you say make any sense?
If i was to change carriers (why would you unless you are cconstantly moving?) every time I got a new phone and was always getting a new contract to reduce the purchase price of the phone, then yes, the price of the plan would probably be higher to subsidise the cost of the phone.

You're missing the point. The monthly 4G plans are the same price as the contract plans, at least last time I checked. I looked at buying the international Galaxy Nexus when it first came out and putting it on T-Mobile and that is what I discovered.

You're misunderstanding what I said. You pay right now $30/month for your data plan (in my example I chose $100 to represent minutes, data, and texts as an example). If you were to buy an unlocked Galaxy Nexus right now and put it on your plan, you'd still pay $30 a month, but you'd be out $400 for the phone. However, if you are due for an upgrade, you can could get a phone for $200 (subsidized) and still pay $30 a month.
In both cases you are paying $30 a month, but in the former you are paying more for your phone. The only advantage to buying the unlocked phones is not being stuck in your contract if you hate the service.
But my point was that US carriers base their monthly rates on the fact that they have subsidized your phone. When you bring your own non-subsidized phone, they don't discount the phone accordingly. So you end up paying more and they ending up making more money.
Doesn't T-Mobile have lower monthly plans when you use your own phone or buy one at full price?
Most people would want a data plan on their smart phone. So its cheaper to get it on contract since they require smartphones to have a data plan regardless of where you bought it. Data plans are not cheaper if you brought your own, its the same. The only good thing about buying a phone off contract is you can jump to another carrier without ETF. IMO, the only.phones I would buy off contracts would be unlocked international ones.

I didn't read up on it, I'm going by the first few sentences at the top. I have a few friends that use this plan.
Since this phone is not carrier specific, does that mean you can use it with AT&T using the $15 unlimited data plan?

I am referring to the unlimited data plan for "non-smartphone" from AT&T. As long as you are using a phone that's not sold by AT&T then they won't recognize IMEI and treat it as "non-smartphone".
For the samsung galaxy, AT&T has its own branded one and there is also a "world" version which also supports AT&T 3g band but AT&T don't recognize it. I assume the this is the same with this phone sold directly by google?

Do you think the Galaxy Note 2 is worth giving up unlimited data? I can only imagine how much data I would be using with this phone. I could imagine being limited. I couldn't see myself paying ful price to keep unlimited data going. Sprint nor Tmobile have LTE in my area.
Has anyone found a way around being pushed into the upgrade? I also found it obnoxious that they are charging a $30 upgrade fee and giving me a $50 upgrade discount at the same time lol.

Nothing is worth giving up unlimited data.
4g tethering / internet practically anywhere there is 4g... I would never give that up for anything. I use around 7-10gb of data on the average.
I will be giving up unlimited data this go around. After getting laid off of my job of 6 years I had to take a lower paying gig and the only way I could talk my wife into the Note 2 was if we combine our plans. I have never used more than 8 gb in a month and she uses 1 gb. We will either go with the 8 gb shared and save $30 a month by combining or maybe the 10gb plan. Its a small price to pay for me to upgrade from my X to the N2. It is what it is, I will make it work even though it does suck.
I'm likely buying the phone outright and keeping the unlimited data. Even my wife doesn't want me to give up the unlimited data.
That's cool. With 2 mortgages and 2 kids I couldn't justify 1400 for 2 phone's when we can get both for 700 and save 30 a month by combining. I hope all of you guys can keep unlimited, in 2 years ill see where the carriers are with respect to unlimited and move to another carrier if my 10gb plan isn't working for me. Honestly I doubt we will be having this conversation about unlimited on Verizon in 2 years. My guess is Verizon will decide in the near future to end it completely.
I wish there was a way to keep the plan. It's crazy they try to force you off.
My replacement Fascinate is defective with the constant reboots and overheating while charging. I was going to replace under warranty but I dropped it and the screen cracked which they have already tried to blame that for the problems. Assurion wants 99 bucks for a replacement. They keep telling me that my data usage is low. Yeah, my phone dies in 4 hours and crashes most when I use my web browsers.
Prior to that I was using 3-6 gigs a month. LTE + 2gb a month is like getting a Lambo to drive only in a parking garage.
Since I live at a University, I have to share with everyone else. I am averaging about 16GB a month so I have to keep the unlimited plan.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Yup. 16 gb would cost you 170 (40 + 130 for data) a month on the new plan.
Wouldn't it be illegal for them to "force" you to change data plans later when people continue to buy phones outright.

I just got back from VZW Corporate store.
I have 4 lines on a family account, i'm the owner of the entire account - I have TWO upgrades on my account and there's literally no way to be able to keep the unlimited data if the upgrade is on the line that has unlimited. It only works if you use a tiered line's upgrade for your unlimited line.
I know this might seem hard to follow but in short:
Unlimited Line has upgrade = wasted, nothing you can do with it
Tiered line has upgrade = useful for unlimited line
I don't find really any phone being with $600 to $700 after tax. That's just plain robbery. I've been doing it on my past 2 phones and now that I have upgrades actually available, i'm plainly fed up. I threaten to close my account with VZW but they would LOVE for that to happen because they don't want unlimited plan folks on their network anymore.
Now it's a game to test my wits.. How long can I go with my SG3 before going insane? I have to wait another year for one of my tiered lines to have an upgrade available.

So why don't you use the tiered line upgrade and then switch the note to your line? I'm not really following this since you said two upgrades are available one on the tiered line and one on the unlimited.
Speaking of lines and unlimited. Our plan states that both are smartphones share the unlimited data. I keep hearing people talking about no unlimited data on certain lines??
I did preorder Note2 full price so we could keep unlimited and we were not eligible anyway as my line isn't up till Feb.
I can't imagine not having unlimited with the Note2, because its so powerful and with large screen, plan to use Netflix and music a lot!!
I'll be buying outright simple because they tacked on a $30 upgrade fee when I tried to preorder...Yea I know it makes no sense but its a principle thing now...haha

Have you considered dropping carrier texting and lowering minutes to 450 while keeping unlimited data and using Google Voice and Groove IP for unlimited calls and unlimited SMS over data? You can also look into applying a corporate discount on your plan. As far as the Note II you're bound to find a good deal on Craigslist.
Yeah I'm buying it at full retail just to keep unlimited. This will also be my last phone with Verizon. Moving to prepaid T-mobile after this one, hopefully they have real 4G by then
I've got a 5th line with a 3g dumb phone on Family Share Unlimited plan. Upgrading that to the Note 2 for 2year contract discount. Killing that in 24 hrs and transferring N2 to me/current Gnex and putting dumb phone back on 5th line. Keep unlimited data
So I've been with Sprint for years. Currently have a unlimited data family plan with 2 lines and like 1000 or 1500 minutes and also get a 25% discount as my girlfriend who has the other line used to work at a company that gave us the discount.
I upgraded my EVO 4G to an EVO LTE 2 years ago at Best Buy and had no problem keeping my same plan with the discount by signing a new 2 year contract.
Question is will I be able to do the same if I upgrade through Best Buy or maybe another place? I don't want to be transferred to their new plans, lose my discount, or pay monthly for a new phone. Would rather pay the $200 or whatever upfront. Please provide me with as many details regarding this as possibe and thanks in advance.

you can keep your same plans, however they will do a check to see if you are still eligible for the employer discount. They will request to send an email to the @domain.com of the place she worked, and then click on the link in the email sent, to re-verify for the discount. If she has a friend still working at the company she have the email sent to them, they can forward it to her and she can simply click on the link. There is no other association or follow up to verify for the discount. I have not worked for MSFT for years but still get my discount because I have a few friends with @Microsoft.com email addresses that I can have sprint send the work discount email confirmation to. They may talk up new plans to you, but you can politely refuse and tell them you want to stick with the same plan.
Thank you for the reply. She worked at a daycare and never had an email account so not sure how we can do that but do I have to go through Best Buy or could I go somewhere else? Even a Sprint store to keep my current plan and pay for the new phone upfront after the discount?

in that case, they might need a form filled out or something - I was assuming a larger corporation, my bad.
you should be able to go anywhere - sprint store, best buy, amazon.com, etc. but you may need to talk to a real person to do the keep the same plan. I have never purchased a phone online from a place like wirefly or amazon yet. Perhaps someone else could chime in on how that works.

I purchased my upgrade from Amazon and was never pressured to change my plan. I could have kept it if I wanted to. I did change to the new "my way" plan however because for my two lines, it was $20 cheaper than my old unlimited data plan which was similar to the OP's.

@op I've been leaning on sprint and tmo the last few days, asking questions, as I'm thinking of finally switching to tmo. That said, if you go to a sprint store , they have the pay monthly plans they're being pushed to sell by corporate. I, too, would prefer to pay a few hundred up front and be done with it....screw increasing my monthly expenses. If you buy online, you don't pay monthly and you keep your plan. Rep told me that even if igo to best buy or target or something, they still have the normal upgrade with contract and without changing plans. They have N5 and HTC One each for only 100, no monthly payment and no plan change.

The only issue with the discount is that if they approve it, part of the clause is another two year contract...as well as that with the new Framily Plan styled contract, the discount is only applied to the data costs of the phone, not the entire plan cost. *smh about that*
So with say a 20% discount and it only being applied to an unlimited plan, you'd save maybe $4-6 a month.
Yeah, but the OP was talking about upgrading and maintaining his current plan, not switching to Framily.
Framily plans may be marginally less expensive than a Family Share plan, but they don't subsidize the cost of upgrade hardware. For about the same cost of a Framily plan over 2 years you can have the standard family plan, discounts net about $20 off instead of 5, and phone upgrades are subsidized. I think he's on the right track.

Greetings All!
Okay, after some hesitation I'm planning to upgrade from my much-loved GS3 to the LG G3.
Currently I'm on the Everything Data 450 plan ($69.99) plus the smartphone fee ($10). I never use all my minutes, not even close, since all mobile to mobile and mobile to VOIP calls are included and free. I only talk to one person that I know of who still uses a traditional landline. My corporate discount saves me about $10 a month as it applies to the $69.99 portion of my bill.
Unlimited, My Way, is $50 for unlimited talk and text plus $30 for unlimited data. Just a penny more, but I have verified that my corporate discount would only apply to the $30 portion of the bill so I would be paying several dollars more a month.
Ergo, I'm planning on keeping my old plan. I see no advantage to switching. Am I missing out on something here?
Many thanks in advance.
Cheers, Henri
I had a similar experience a few days ago. Wanted to get my gf the G3 on the easy pay. I was told to use easy pay I would have to switch to the new plans. The salesman says "it costs the same". But me being a mathematician, lol, quickly figured it was going to cost me $275 before taxes, for 4 line and a tablet. Where my bill on traditional account is about $240 with taxes and fees.
I have 5 lines on the ED1500 plan and I get a 23% corp discount. I worked out I'd pay an extra $60 or so a month switching to the Framily plan even if I could get an extra 2 people to get me to the 7 member threshold for maximum discount. Framily is a crock compared to the old plans if you have more than 2 lines.

Made the unfortunate mistake of signing up on framily and ez pay. Hasty decision as I wanted the phone and got talked into the plan under the guise that it was cheaper. Got home. Did the math and it was about 40-50 more per month compared to old plan. Spent 4 hours in best buy returning the phones and reversing the plan only to leave with no devices as my available upgrade was no longer available. Now back on an s3. Upgrade is now activated again, just need to go back and rebuy the phone. Looking forward to getting the g3 back. This s3 just doesn't cut it anymore.
They talked me into the framily plan its me and two others my bill is about the same. I wanted a new phone (g3) but it would cost like 100 a month. They said they could add people to my plan or what ever to lower my bill i waited one week now pay 69 a month for my line with unlimited and insurance. Its awesome just ask them to add people to your plan

If you'll forgive my anonymity, a large, well known bank. Previously, I had the same discount through Nortel Networks but the company went bankrupt and no longer exists.

Yeah, I just don't see the benefit. I have 5 lines. My brother pays me monthly and my sister direct deposits 1/2 the amount of her bill bi-weekly directly to my bank account so I really only pay for my S.O., my daughter and myself which ends up being $197 and change. Upgrading every year would be nice, but I finally have a phone where I don't think I'll need to do that. Also, Framily does away with free navigation. I knoe Google Maps is free, but I have not always had good experiences with it.
Happy to have the g3 back and all parts of original plan back in action!

In my case... Let me let you know. I have the Framily Plan. In the group that the Store Sales Representative create for me are now 10 persons with my 5 lines. (He add to it other 5 unknown ppl) I only pay $25 bucks per line + taxes... I have 2 LG G3, 2 HTC M8 and 1 Nexus 5. My UPS Corporate 25% discount on the account only works when I buy accessories because all the lines just have 1GB of data. I don't see the fact of have unlimited when everyone here all day is connected to Wi-Fi in work or home so..
What I want to say is I HAVE NO EASY PAY installments... This is the trick.
I had an old plan, (all without contract since June) this week I renew all the contracts with new devices and then the Rep changed me to the new Framily plan.
I was supposed to be charged for $15 bucks until I can renovate or something like that on all the lines but the rep says for some reasons (maybe because changes were made at the same time) the system would not charge me. Now I have my phones without payment and are mines. You should try this.

I use UPS and get 23 or 25% can't remember.
Don't forget the biggest difference between the old plans and framily is that you no longer get subsidized devices.
