CM 7.2 i717 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Just out curiosity. Would it be possible to build a CM 7.2 ROM for the i717? And would it be easy/difficult? I have never actually built a ROM before.

I would start by searching the forums for tutorials in building for quincyatt. There are some good ones in here.

AOSP= Android open source project.
Cyanogen= this is the developer team. This team create many good custom roms, and Cyanogen a nick name,I think so

It is based on the AOSP coding with ALOT of changes and alot of recoding. So while it is based on the source code it is not pure AOSP.
Now I get it. Thank you very much zelendel :victory:
do they accept AOSP based kernels??? IE: I have CM 12.1 and want to use a KT aosp 5.1... Is that the correct conversion?
Thanks

No they don't accept AOSP kernels. They are as far away from AOSP as any oem rom

No you cant. A pure AOSP rom doesnt have the theme engine and with the upcoming android version CM themes will no longer work due to RRO which is android own theming set up.

[Q] old cm10 nightly

What's wrong with the 10.1 builds? They are nearly perfect anyway, and as far as I know, the exynos4 hack is still present in cm10, whereas the 10.1 builds are secure. I believe you still can get the builds on the get.cm website if you look hard enough.

i tested 10.1 for a while and in my opinion is slower than cm10 version (maybe because i upgrade from cm10 without wipe?).
furthermore in 10.1 there are many things that are useless IMHO (tile,user-switch,daydream).
i searched on get.cm but i really don't find anything about cm10 for s2.

Yes you should wipe everything and do a clean install bcz cm10.1 is a different android version. BTW nobody uses cm10 now bcz 10.1 is better
Thanks my friend

[Q] AOSP ROM Question

Hi guys,
FIRST, this is NOT(!!) a thread for asking which is the best ROM.
i'm coming from Galaxy S2, and i'm using Omega and crDroid for a while...
on the S2 i had AOKP or AOSP but here, i cant find any stable version.
on the S2 there were JellyBam, RootBox etc.
any one can point for a STABLE DAILY USE rom aosp or aokp?
all i see is compiled nightlies and i dont know if that is stable enough...
thanks for the help.
Shahar.
You've clearly not searched enough.
Jellybam and Rootbox are available for the S3.
Search in the dev forums

None of the Jellybean based cm based ROMs are stable. So at the moment you will not find what you are looking for. They all have clearly listed bugs.

@shahar2k9
Why don't you try supernexus 2.0. It's based on jelly bean 4.2.1 and it is nice and stable. I am using it as a daily driver along with a lot of other people. I would definitely check it out if I were you.

That might not be what you intended but as you can see from the post 1 above this one, that's what this thread is becoming.
Nightlies are actually more stable than most people give them credit for... just look around in the dev forum, find a ROM you like the look of, flash it. If you are satisfied, great, if not then move onto a different ROM.

[Q] Confusion about android basics

Tbh, i know just jack about ROMs and aokp or aosp builds.
Im much confused between what are and the differences b/w AOSP and AOKP builds. and what is Omega (is it a ROM? or is the base for AOKP. i mean i just dont understand all this confusion .. u get the idea how much i know )
if CM is a ROM and AOSP is its base, then is CM also on AOKP ? if im wrong in what i understand pls correct and teach me from zero.
i know about rooting phone just confused between all the technical terms and ROMs and builds and whats Omega, and hows it diff from CM etc. etc.
Pls im desperate and eager. Anybodies time is greatly appreciated
Thanks!
just btw, using galaxy s3 (intl.) rooted and cm11 nightly flashed.
All ROMs are based on AOSP. Since that's the thing people call Android. There are then ROMs that are based on any of the 3 biggest ROMs out there. So you might see a ROM that's based on CM which in turn is based on AOSP.

No, CM is not on AOKP. They are two completely different derivatives of AOSP. I have no idea what omega is. You'll just have to do some research for yourself.

Netflix and cyanogenmod

Hello guys! I was just wondering if someone could explain why Netflix doesn't like to work with AOSP Roms. I'm running a CM 12.1 nightly build on my galaxy note 2 (t0ltetmo) and Netflix just has never worked for me! Is it something to do with Netflix security or system libs or something? Thanks!

It's mist likely the changes cm made to the code. I run a rom based in aosp but not cm sources and it works fine for me.

So it must be something to do with CM specifically? Damn, sucks for me because no other ROMs support my device at the moment, lollipop came out and most ROM teams ditched my device! Haha
