Hi!
It looks like it's possible to use some USB Ethernet adapters with some Android tablets, but is it possible to have it running on AC power at the same time?
I suppose that this can be achieved with some special OTG cable, if it is possible at all. Have anyone been successful with this?
Please share what's your setup, i.e what tablet do you have, what Ethernet adapter works with it, and what kind of OTG cable are you using.
Direct links (Amazon, eBay, etc...) are very welcome for Ethernet adapters and OTG cables.
Thanks in advance!
PS: Hopefully this is the right forum to post these type of questions.
Hi, I tried with a otg cable which had an additional port for power but it's just for when u use hdds who needs more power then 450 mA to run. Android is not allowing to charge the phone during USB otg usage.

You are going to need a USB 1.x/2.0 Female Type A to Male Type Micro-B adapter cable.
The XTZ's USB port does not supply enough amperes to power most portable USB HHDs, so when selecting an HDD, make sure it requires very low amperes.
The WiFi mouse's Windows-based adapter will not work with the XTZ unless the mouse's manufacturer can provide Android drivers. You need to check with the manufacturer to see if they have any, but I highly doubt they have Android drivers. You will have better luck using a Bluetooth or USB mouse.
You can use a non-powered or powered USB hub to gain more USB ports. A powered USB hub would be a better choice because it would eliminate the problem of powering a USB HDD. Most powered USB hubs are powered by AC adapters, but you can find some that are battery powered.
There are several discussions in this forum about USB MHL to HDMI adapters. Search the forum to find out which adapters work with the XTZ.
You cannot charge a device using a charger through a USB hub. You will need a powered USB hub specifically designed for charging devices.
Right but the question is does the Xperia z tab can be charging the some time when is connect to tv via hdmi?

Try using a Micro USB Host OTG Y-Cable with Micro USB Power for Sony Phones & Tablets from Valarm, which they say has been tested with the XTZ SGP312.
Hi,
Has anyone managed to successfully find a solution to give an hdmi out display from the note pro 12.2, at the same time as a usb port via otg cable.
What I essentially want to do is to have the note pro at my desk connected via hdmi to a monitor, and still be able to use usb devices such as pen drives etc. Is there any kind of cable combination that will allow for this? I've not been able to find anything.
Thanks
Duncan
I have these:
Usb 3.0 Hub:

Usb OTG (with connection for external charger, a must have if you're gonna power devices via USB)

USB A to microUSB adapter, this one is for the HDMI cable:

You should try all-share-cast or screen cast(via miracast/chromecast) for video and audio. That would do everything easier.
I've been trying to find a OTG powered hub that doesn't suck for basically ever.
Assuming this works in USB2 mode I might be in love. Something like monoprice should have a USB C to USB2 A cable.
Chromecast ethernet adapter
Hi
I have also tried to find a good solution for a wired Ethernet solution, without any luck.
I tried the Chromecast Ethernet adapter, but without luck.
Following this thread to see if you have any luck with the compute stick hub.

I was just wondering about the compatability of the lg g5 with a usb hub in this way. I already have a usb hub(just an amazon basics one) and wanted to make a little media/gaming setup using an otg cable and miracasting it to my firestick. I don't know if it would be compatible with my controllers and pendrives etc. Or will i need a specific type c usb hub?
Ooops sorry for double post but i understand i may have posted this in the wrong section and it should have been in accessories. Not sure how to move it though. Sorry again.
well I think it might work but the hub needs to have additional power to do that
5V is needed to power it since the phone will not be able to power all mounted storage
I have a Ugreen HUB that I also recommend if you want to try it as it supports additional 5V power supply (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Ugre...-LED-indicator-for-PC-Laptop/32526640882.html)
Thanks for the reply,
So the since the hub is bus powered you are saying the phone will not be able to power the mounted storage and say a gamepad or something? Is it that the phone is not capable of supplying it or that it will drain the phone quicker. For example if i had a usb otg cable that supplied input too the phone would it be possible?
If it is the case i should go for one of these hubs are there any you can recommend on amazon as I would rather not wait 2 or 3 months delivery?
If you plan on connecting gamepad, storage and so on at the same time, you will most likely lack enough power since the phone alone can not supply it therefor you will need additional power to the hub
So far the phone should be able to support powering a USB storage device (USB stick) but if you plan adding a external HDD for example, it will not work (I managed to test with a 1TB external HDD and was not able to fully power it)
As for a amazaon suggestion for a HUB, well not sure but you can try one that supports additional power supply (https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Port-2-5A-power-adapter/dp/B00DQFGH80)
Thanks very much for the reply i might purchasr that as well and see if there is a difference between using both. Anyone have any recommendations on type c otg cables?
My otg cable got delivered. And i used it with my current usb hub that was bus powered... It doesn't work reliably(it has worked once for me). I'm not sure why this is, I assume its because of the power. So if i was to buy a usb hub now that was powered such as the Ugreen 4 port usb hub will i see better results with that? Also anyone know the best gamepads i can buy for otg as i dont have a usb x360 or ps3 controller.
I was interested having a otg setup for my car, usb dac for audio, plus phone charging, but i dont think its possible to have otg + charging.
Even if you get otg working on a hub, chances are you wont be able to charge at the same time which is an issue for gaming?
hello guys. can i connect a Ethernet LAN to mate 10 pro by USB c to Ethernet adapter?
does it support wire internet?
Yes you can. You need something similar to this :

Funny, I have the Anker one, but with a USB-B port. Connected in a USB-C hub, that provides HDMI out, USB-C to charge and USB-B, in which I plugged this. While the lights flicker, nothing works. I tried plugging a USB memory stick, won't read it (my Anker adapter has USB 3.0 and gigabit ethernet). But, if I plug the key directly in the USB-B port of the USB-C hub, no problem. So somehow, that one does not work for me. Anyone else been able to get an adapter to work? At best, I want something like the Dell WD15. It's an overkill, but any alternative providing ethernet, hdmi, usb-b and a mean to charge like usb-c. A mix of video ports is even better, but not required.
