Hi all..
I am having a Dell Venue 7 tablet. I bought it around 6 months ago. Everything was working fine.
2 days ago, when I woke up in morning, and was trying to power on my tablet, It didn't power on. I thought, it might happen due to battery drain. But, after charging for hours, I am still unable to power it on.
I tried pressing power button for a couple of seconds many time after random intervals of time, also with combination of volume buttons too. But, nothing made it to power it on.
Same problem happened last week, but that time after a night's interval, I was able to power it on normally.
Can anyone HELP ME to understand the problem and sort it out.
Thanks.

I know it takes about 3 seconds of holding the button for this tab but I have no doubts you know that... Have you tried powering it on WHILE plugged in perhaps? I would try using another charger as well, maybe you have a lose connection or bad wire that only charges sometimes. Also I think it is hold the vol up key then press power for recovery, might wanna double try that. Besides those things I would pull off the back cover (it's easy, at least on my venue 8, just remove the SD card first) and try manually depressing the power button inside and check the battery connection. Only thing it could be outside of all this is a bad button/main board. If you manage to get it powered back on then maybe don't shut it down anymore? As long as you don't have some app affecting it the battery should lose very little charge in standby. Mine is always on and carried in a pouch in my purse. I simply plug it in overnight to charge. Good luck!

sounds like stuck in download mode to me connect to a pc open device manager see id you see any unknown devices pop up or intel-soc / cloverview devices if so hold power until it goes away if it does disconnect the device from the pc power on holding vol down and power should boot to droidboot if it does select recovery from the menu when it boot to recovery hit its either volume up and power or volume down and power to show recovery menu select reboot and the device will reboot I've seen tons of these fail to set the boot mode properly and appear dead.

Hi Everyone,
About 20 mins ago, my Touchpad running CM7 Alpha 2 suddenley stopped responding (the touchscreen that is), so i held down the power button to turn it off.
However, it wont turn back on! I have tried Home + Power + Vol Up for more than 30 seconds about 3 times and nothing. I am charging atm and nothing on screen. I have also tried holding the power button for about 10 seconds. Nothing!
Any suggestions?

Home + Power button for around 20 seconds should bring it back to life.

Sounds like your moboot has some problems when you forced shutdown it, try go to the webos recovery statue (the statue when you install CM7 into your TP), connect TP to your PC and reinstall moboot, or the whole CM7 if that doesn't work.
Good luck

Same problem! Did you find a solution yet? I'm trying to figure out how to follow tigerdavid's advice.
Ok follow-up on this - I can't even get the TP to be recognized by my computer. What now?
How long did you leave it plugged in i had to leave mine plugged in for a couple of hours into the wall outlet before it would show the batter charging icon then turned on shortly after that

hi,when your tp is in the off statue,try holding both the power and the volume up botton, and then you can see a usb icon on your screen, that is the webos recovery mode.

When you are in the webos recovery statue, the one I said in the last post (there is a usb icon on the screen), you can connect it to the computer, and neglect windows' response as it cannot recognize it, because it is actually a false warning. Then try following the steps for installing CM7.
had the same problem yesterday. just held power+home til it said to release the buttons.(previously i released as soon as the hp globe came up and it turned back off) hope this helps
When all else fails try this:
Hold power, Volume Down, and Home until the HP logo appears. May take up to 30 seconds or longer. Release all three buttons and the Touchpad should then boot. Worked for me the one and only time I've had to use it.
I charged Touchpad's battery full and turned it off about a month ago. Now I tried to turn it back on, nothing happens.
I plugged in usb charger, button under display started blinking. After 10mins, tried to turn it on, display turned on and it said attach own charger to get best results... blaablaa.. and then turned back off
Now it has been on own charger over an hour, in the beginning button blinked again for a while. Now it's all black and nothing happens. Tried power, pwr+front btn, pwr+vol up, pwr+front btn+vol down. Nothing.
Maybe I just haven't given enough light treatment?? I'm getting worried..
edit: overnight at charger, no change... battery dead? This sucks.

Bummer. I don't think it's good to let a Li-Ion battery fully discharge. I've had bluetooth headsets and older spare laptop batteries die because they were sitting in a drawer for months. It sounds like this is what may have happened to your Touchpad. You should have left it plugged in somewhere!

Yeah, that's what seems to have happened. I just dont digest the idea that it died in 3 to 4 weeks. In standby, yes, but in off state.. if this happened after months, but we are talking only few weeks.
Any idea where to get a spare battery? Ebay show zero results.
Swyped from sgs2
It isn't likely its the battery, probably some kind of internal failure, but even if the battery is stone cold dead you should still be able to plug it in and run it that way.
You can change another microusb cable to re-charge again, b'cas the original cable quality is not good. Led blinking shows that battery is in low capacity, TP will bootup after charging to minimum battery voltage.
HP Back in life..
Got it working...
I let it be a week without any trying. Then plugged it's own charger on and the home started blinking again and after a while battery image came up! So it was in some sort of hang situation and needed to drain the battery again.
I did that also first time but at that time it just stopped blinking home and did nothing after that.
Now few hours later it's turned on and charging, 45%..

Dear all,
I have my new tab (64Gb/3G/wifi) for one week and I cannot power on since few days.
I'm sure that the battery is full because it was in charge all the night.
I tried many things (holding power button during 5, 10, 30, 120 seconds, holding power and volume left button) but each attempt failed.
I just know that when I connect it to the laptop, Windows sounds as it is recognizing an USB device but 2 seconds later sounds as the device was removed....
Is there any way to fix the problem? Have I to send the tab to the samsung support?
Thanks for your help... :-(

That's why I need to know if there is a real fix for this issue...
Try holding power and volume down button at the same time dor aprox. 15 seconds. Then you should see the "download" logo. Then press volume down to switch to CVM - acknowledge with volume up. Then in CVM just choose reboot.
Hope it helps you

I'm leaning toward faulty.
This one looks to have worked for mine - Tab locked up and died on Sunday, and *fingers crossed* looks to have just come back to life (within the last 10 mins so am not 100% sure).
Leave the battery to discharge completely. Then charge it up. That's it.
With the lack of screen output, the only way i could see to tell if the battery is dead is to plug it into a PC via the USB cable. If you get ADX mode then it's not discharged. Leave it a bit and try again. When you plug it in, if it doesn't show ADX mode make sure you press and hold the power button for a few seconds to make sure it isn't just turned off.
**Edit**
Looking good so far. Am leaving it to charge for a bit before i turn it on but i can at least now press the power button briefly to get the battery indicator
**Edit 2**
Having left it to charge for a couple of hours i then took the plunge. Booted up no problem so it looks like this has worked for me.

I have this same issue. Mine was fine went to bed woke up and it was dead no life at all. I have done all button combos different cords and factory chargers nothing. I even swapped the battery for a new factory samsung battery inside nothing. i dont get anything when I plug it into my computers though no found sound or anything. I left the battery unhooked for an hour before connecting it to the board inside also. I now have the power button taped pressed for last 2 hours hopeing that will drain the battery like other have done and then I will try to hook it back up to a charger. Any other ideas why it was fine then next day dead?
Yes exist a fix back to 4.0.4 stock recovery and all bugs gone for me that works

I've already read the other topics I could find regarding this problem.
Last night, my tablet's battery was at ~70%. It was turned off for some reason couple of hours later. It struck me as odd since it was sitting on my bed the whole time and no one else had touched it. I attempted to turn it on normally without luck.
Naturally, I started googling and searching XDA. Tried doing several suggestions like holding down the n button and power button for 20+ seconds, holding down the power button and volume down key, tried bunch of other button combinations, plugged it into the wall, plugged it into my computer, took the SD card out, etc.
But maybe if I missed something so if anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it.

Have you tried charging it? If for some reason the battery is dead, it takes about 15 minutes of charge before it will boot.
Another trick to try: connect the NT to your home computer (turned on), using the provided USB cable. If the battery has a charge, this should wake up the NT and establish a USB connection.
Most likely, though, the battery had run down, so by all means charge it up first. Good luck!

Another thought: If it turns out to be your battery depleting too quickly (and if this is a pattern rather than an isolated event), then this is a warranty issue and you should contact B&N for a replacement device. There are some weak batteries out there, even in recently purchased units, so don't live with a bad battery when you can get a warranty replacement.
I haI this problem, hold down the power button for about 30 seconds, release it, then try yo power it on as you would normally.

Hi!
I've been having a little trouble with my Motorola Photon 4G this past week. So far it wasn't that bad, but it got worse during the past couple days. I've had it for about 2 years, and have to wait until February to change it. (Note: it is not, nor has it ever been rooted)
It started by just freezing and restarting at random moments. Then I had to remove the battery to restart it when it froze, because the power button wouldn't respond. It started going on reboot loops, where it would freeze, I'd take out the battery, it'd restart, and go through the restart process over and over again until the battery died. I could still turn it on. After a couple days, the battery would drain extremely quickly, to the point where to actually be able to turn it on I'd have to remove the battery, plug the phone in until the "looking for battery" icon popped up, reinstall the battery, wait for it to charge, and then turn it on.
Now, no matter what I do, it will not turn on. If I plug it in a wall outlet, it
-With the battery installed --> LED turns green, nothing pops up, power button is not responsive
-Without the battery --> Nothing happens
If I plug it in the computer, the LED turns white, but the Dual Core screen doesn't pop up. When it rarely does, it freezes there.
I have tried the whole "hold power button and volume down" (Stuck in RSD mode or something like freezes on the screen), or "hold the power button and volume up" (Fastboot freezes on the screen), and the holding the two volume keys when the Dual Core screen pops up doesn't work either.
I can't get a new contract, since I am moving away in a couple months in another country, and an US phone would be useless.
Does anybody have a solution?

Try this:
1) Power down (if not already powered off);
2) Pull the battery out;
3) Plug power in *without* putting the battery in;
4) Boot the phone.
If it does not start, we'll have to go from there. If it does start, you need a new battery.

The light is green because it's powered and the battery doesn't need charging (not in the device). At least we have that.
Ok, this will sound stupid, but let's give it a shot:
1) unplug power;
2) remove battery (if not still removed);
3) Let it sit for a while (10 minutes would be overkill, but what the heck);
4) plug power in (not battery -- leave that out);
5) Press and hold the power and volume-down buttons for a good long time -- get a motorola screen?
If we don't get the motorola screen, could be a couple things -- screen dead? Or hardware prob (maybe the power button is dirty -- push good and hard just to be sure).

Okay because I'm just going to have to have everything literally spelled out for me. I wasn't exaggerating when I said I was a noob haha
As I thought, battery shot. Confuses many. So, an unbrick might not be necessary. The battery just won't even pull up the bootloader.
If you get the new battery, and you never rooted, thus didn't load the clockwork recovery hack, it should charge, and then boot might be ok. We will see, but until you see no boot at all, unbrick is the last resort since it's a slog and you're not overly experienced.
I can help, but the OP on the unbrick thread is a great help in most cases.

No worries -- your duty (of course) is hit the Thanks button when folks help and we get somewhere. I also fixed a couple typos in my reply (typed on a phone, and naturally ends up imperfect. Just didn't want you confused. One way or another, you can get the phone back up and running.

Not quite sure what you're saying, but the new battery the OP in this thread purchased should charge fine unless something is really wrong (never rooted so never loaded any charge-precluding mods).
If you are saying that on your phone, with a new battery, you still had to unbrick it because it wouldn't charge ... hmmmm ... seems very strange. Even the clockwork recovery mod would come up and then allow rebooting normally.
We'll see when the new battery comes. Hopefully no unbrick work required, just a charge.
what i am saying is that when the phone is bricked.. i mean bricked... nothing works what so ever except rsd... then thats it... it will not charge the battery. if you have a dead battery then dont expect it to charge while rsd. i needs power on the battery to allow RSD because the computer doesnt flash when the battery is dead and doesnt flash without the battery.
thus... he needs a changed battery. you could buy a seperate charger if you like... but it is much more expensive then buying a battery
Ok, I see what you're saying.
Yes, if truly bricked, it's an unbrick operation. Smells bricked, but I find it plausible the OP gets a battery with enough charge to try a boot. It is concerning we couldn't get booted on power without battery, though. That should have worked. Do it all the time working on kernel modules.
Just saying don't unbrick until trying out the new battery, the former of which the OP could do on power alone.
To qualify so no confusion -- I reboot into recovery mod without battery merely by plugin in -- so I can flash over modules. I've never been able to boot in to the OS normally without the battery in, but we still should see the moto logo.

First of all, sorry if this isn't the right place to post this thread.
Last night i was playing TFT on my Xiaomi Mi 10 as it shut itself down without any warning.
I'm sure i had more than 20% battery left.
This device is about 1 month old, and it crashed one time before, but i could just reboot it with the power button.
This time though, no reaction.
I tried every possible combination of Volume Up/Down and Power button presses, nothing. No vibration, nothing on the screen, just plain nothing.
It literally bricked itself. I did not root it or anything similar, I just used it normally.
Any ideas on what caused this, and more importantly how to fix this? I can't believe this.

Call service. Sorry. If it doesn't boot into fastboot (vol-&power) things are bad...
Try plugging in your phone to a computer. I had a similar thing happen to another phone a little while ago when out of the blue it just died. I tried charging it, wireless charging it, trying power buttons etc but it instantly fixed itself when I plugged in the phone to my computer via USB. Let us know how it went.

Try different cable or check if the cable you use is working. Then press both volume up, down, and power button for at least five minutes. It might reset the phone. It happened to me once time not on the mi 10 but my rog phone 2 and I press that 3 buttons combination and the phone booted up again. I know the mi 10 might not work the same way as the rog phone 2 but you have nothing to lose to try it.
Yeah I tried using another cable, although I know this cable works (old phone). I also tried charging it via my PC, I even tried to connect to it via ADB, it didn't show up in the device list after installing the drivers.
Pretty sure I'm going to give it to service, I still got warranty and I even have insurance for it.
Because of that I don't want to open it to get the battery out and back in, although I'd really really like to know what caused this. I literally played a game and zap it goes black never to be seen again... I hope the service finds the cause and tells me.
Anyway, thank you really much for the suggestions and the help. Incase I get to know what caused this I will write it here as long as I remember to. Until then Cheers Lads.
Same here. My step-daughter purchased this phone and received it Tuesday morning. Now it won;t respond to anything.
I was handed the phone with "pcsuite.mi.com" on the screen but upon connecting to my laptop the screen went black and now won't respond to anything at all. No Recovery mode, no fastboot mode, no vibrations, nothing.
From reading reports online from other users, it seems like Xiamoi really "dropped the ball"/"shat the bed" with this model

I've also performed "lsusb" to see if the device is alive and there's nothing there either
