X10 mini pro charging problem - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

I used to charge a BST-38 battery in my X10 mini pro with a 1000mA charger and it worked just fine (fully charged from ~30% in like an hour); now I switched to an 800mA one and it almost doesn't work. It takes hours (and I mean like, 8 hours) to charge even from 35% and I can actually see it going down at some times. I left it charging overnight, and it went to 13% from 58%! What happened? The 800mA one works with my Xperia E just fine.

Charge questions.

H, I just got the x10a. I have some questions about the process of charging the phone.
With my last 2 phones, an k850 and a xperia x1a i learned to charge the phone every night. I arrived at home, plugged the phones to their chargers , sleep. Wake up, went to work at 7, battery was at 100% every morning.
Now with the x10a, i arrive at home, battery is almost at 40% aprox, plug the phone to the charger, and go to sleep, wake up at the same time and battery is always at 60~70%, with the cable and back of phone running hot. Yesterday went to see the phone status at 11pm, battery was at 90%, went to sleep, wake up at 4am checked the phone and battery was at 52%, so instead of charging, was discharging, is this normal behavior? I removed the battery and put it on again and the charge jumped to 85%.
All of this is normal?

Kind of if it's new, cycle the battery a few times and it should sort itself out.
Yeah the same thing happens to me. I checked juice plotter and at 2:30 am, I'm fully charged then at 5:00 am, I'm at 70 percent. The it repeats the cycle.

That is very odd.. has someone timed how long it takes for the battery to get to 100% Just today I got the please charge now message.. it took 2 hours give or take to get to 100% it maybe you need to cycle the battery. I am using my blackberry 9700 battery charger ( OEM one was left in my hotel room ) The blackberry is output 5VDC and 700mA.
I've noticed that charging the phone using a USB port takes a lot more time that when using an AC/DC adaptor. The USB ports on my PC give out 100 milliamps while the AC/DC adaptor that came with the phone gives out 700 milliamps. Are you charging using a PC USB port or an AC/DC adaptor?

I've had this happen a few times I plug the phone in at night & when I wake up it's still charging and warm. I now shut my phone off before plugging in the charger & have not had the problem. My guess is some process is running in the background preventing it from properly charging.
ya just cycle the battery few times and it should be okay. it should be noted that the x10 will charge to 100% and stop charging until the battery drops down to 90% (at least for me)
Phone off worked!
Had a same weird issue after 5 months of usage. First 5 months were fine (needed to charge once every 24 hours). Have noticed in past 2-3 days that when I leave it for chanrging overnight, it does not go to 100%. Sometimes it would go upto 76%, other time 86 and so on. Cannot understand this. Have not installed anything in last 2-3 days either. Do not know the root cause but solution suggested by Phoneguy above worked. That is, I put netwrok setting OFF and then switch my phone OFF. Then I plugin phone to charger and start charging. This way it is getting charged to 100%. Hopefully this workaround will last for another year, at least

Mine does the same thing. I checked with battery graph. It charged to 100% and then it'd stop and drop to 90% and charged back to 100%, in repeated cycles. Is this just a X10 thing? I want to have 100% before leaving the house!

This is normal and for Security. When you leave the Phone charging when it has 100 it stops Charging until 90 or something then charge again becouse if it wouldnt do it your Battery will run too hot and could make real damage.

The phone actively discharges the battery when plugged in. I've tried the above suggestions and they worked, but only found small success as the battery wouldn't charge past 40%. Now my phone will not boot and the battery is completely drained.
I called SE North America last night and they told me that I broke the battery. I called BS and they then told me that they'll send me a free new battery as a courtesy despite it not being covered in the warranty. Overall, a pretty good experience, but the key point the rep said was to not trickle charge the battery.
I do have a sneaking suspision that it's not the battery because it's only 5 months old, but good because they didn't say anything about the phone not being officially released in the US and not being supported by a warranty.
I hope this post doesn't get deleted as well...lolz.
here it is my graph for the last day, plugged the charger aroung 4pm batt was at 13%, in the office and around 8pm from home, if you see, from 8:44pm to 9:41pm the batt was at 100% an then it goes down and reach 60% at 3am, so it was discharging, and then it tried to charge to reach 100% but couldnt. at 6:30am i woke up and bat was at 78%. so, how can i get it to keep the charge, i dont mind going form 90 to 100 but not going from 100 to 60 and to 100.
anybody can help?

Any diference betwen original charger and a china charger?

Hi there.i bought my phone, an xperia x10 with a non original charger.it takes about 1,5 hours to charge completly....and the dischatge it seems to be fast (a half of day woth medium use, with internet activated). On my car i use an original nokia n97 charger, and it takes a lot of time to charge and the discharge is more faster. If i will buy an original charher for home and for my car....will be any improvments on my battery life? Will the charge circele be more faster? Thanks for the answers.

im thinking charge in car is the similar to charge in laptop, they both take really long since the voltage isnt that height, i dont have a car yet but imo, it wouldnt make any difference

The original charger charges about 2~4 hrs on normal not so very hot temperature day, but on a very hot day it will charge for about 4~8hrs and will not even reach the 100% mark. I use LG Charger and Sony Ericsson Charge(the one that came with my x10), and I don't really see a difference, on the other note, I've tried using blackberry charger on my office mates bb bold and it charge a lil bit faster but not much difference.
All charger that I have tried would lasted a 8hrs minimum to 1 and half day(depends on weather, since heat cause battery to drain quickly),
all internet connection is on, auto sync to gmail is on, facebook notification is on, no timescape, 2 homescreen(launcher pro), browsing web either through device or tethering and it will last for about the whole day on the average.

You mean current.
Voltage is always standard. "5V"
Look at the amount of mA the charger supplies.
A normal usb2 port supplies 500mA
Your wall charger supplies 700mA
there is controller of charging in x10. so if you use 1200mA charger - x10 will recieve only 700mA to avoid damage.
and full charging from 0to100% takes about 1.5 hours (5-7hours by usb). discharge-1-2days of non very active using. it's normal.
china chargers are adverse and accident-sensitive most of all. do you want it burns out when you're sleeping?

[Q] HELP it take 8 hours to fully charge my x10

[Q] Charging As Slow As A Snail?

hi to all,
I got an Xperia Tablet Z recently.
I found that my battery drains normally, but it charges as slow as hell. What happened?
I'm using the EP850 charger and the official SONY data transfer cable. Last night it was 10%, I made it charging at night. After 4 hours, I found it was 12%
Something's wrong with your tablet or your charger.
Mine is EP880 and the tablet has been charged after 4-5 hours
EP850 should charge it from 0-100% is around 6 hours (if the Tablet isn't used). There is defiantly something wrong with either the charger, cable and/or your Tablet.
I've the same problem. Even while charging if I am surfing via WiFi then sometimes battery percent decreases. And tablet takes almost 4 hours to charge more than 50 %.
Using IPad 2 3G charger helps!! It's like 60% faster
I noticed that if the tablet is switched off and charging, it takes forever (10hours - only 50% charge), but when it is switched on but with no activity (e.g. in craddle) it charges noticeably faster (10-hours - 100%). So as far as i understood, while it is off it restricts charging current to 500mA, and on it uses full power from the charger. Also it was mentioned earlier that ipad or samsung (high current) charger will charge your tablet faster than a stock one.

+1 to this.
I use an iPad charger for my Tablet Z and it is quicker (as it should be, iPad charger =2A , supplied Sony charger = 1.5A).

Wall chargers strange phenomena...

Hello!
Phone wall chargers strangeness... So we are talking here about the phone Lg g3 and my adventures with chargers for it. So my original charger broke so I decided to find myself another one original but couldn't find. I got myself original 2 ampere samsung charger probably for the s4 and made some tests. From 39% to 49% on airplane mode with everything turned off and only the display constantly on for all the time on zero brightness, I got it charged with 10% for 20 minutes which is exactly 1% for two minutes. Then I charged it with 1.5 ampere nokia lumia charger and for 10 minutes i got 10 % charge which is exactly 1% for a minute. And finally I charged it with 850mA old sony ericsson charger and i got the exact same result as with the samsung charger which is in theory 1.25 A more powerful . Is this something about the incompability with the lg phone on a samsung charger or what?
Thank for the future possible replys and have a nice day.
