It's possible it's not a ROM issue, but that they developer needs to update the app to work under Lollipop. I know it says on the store page that it works for 4.x or later, but usually, the devs will say in the description that ii has been updated to work under Lollipop.
Do you know for a fact that it runs under Lollipop on other devices? Just curious.
No I have never been able to run qremote on lollipop. Installs but won't run. But some one else said they Believe it worked on an earlier build of a ROM (I believe that's what he was saying.)
But yeah as far as lollipop goes it's a pretty complete build for me. I just wish I had that darn remote...

Then it's an issue with the ART runtime. Under LP, ART is the default runtime, not Dalvik. The app obviously wasn't programmed to work under ART, so until the dev fixes it, it won't work under LP at all. No LP ROM has Dalvik enabled as the default. I don't even know if any of them allow switching over to Dalvik under LP. There might be some that allow it, and that might be the reason it worked for the individual you mentioned, but ART is considered the defacto standard for LP, and Dalvik is dead and buried.
You can go into the "developer options" in system settings to see if you can switch from ART to Dalvik and try that. If you don't see that option in the developer options settings, then you are stuck on ART.
What about the official lollipop released to g3s overseas, they have all the bells and whistles.

You may have to browse to /system/etc/init.d/ and set permissions for file 100Remote to match other files in folder. I had issues at first with proper file permissions so I update the install script but during my testing the Remote program will run even if I do not have proper permission for file.

It did not work on my LG TV. I am waiting to hear from a anyone if it works for them to see if there is a problem.

Gonna try it right as I get home. Anyway, it would be great if we could get the G2-like QRemote, not just the 'lite' one from the G Pad
No go for me on sale sony tv on cm11. Also neither bluray nor DVD have anything in their lists once you click those options.

Is it possible to add Vizio the list of TV makes? This worked great before I moved CM11 and now that I am on CW11 I would love to get my QRemote back but this version post does not list Vizio tv's. (The version that came stock did)
If it helps, I have a backup of the stock rom I made before flashing.
Thanks!

Did you notice in the system dump of my GPE that there was a LGQRemote.apk? I ran the APK from root explorer but I didn't get any icons in my launcher.

Yes I did notice and got same results. If you use an activity picker to start up remote it does not start up either.

This is not even working fully yet. I lost track of this due to working on GPE ROM. When I have more time I can check why it is not fully working.
From what I have seen the only way to ad other devices would be for LG to allow it. LG encrypts their IR blaster so only devices listed in the quickset device profile work if LGs IR blaster unless someone can crack the encryption. You can search play store for quickset and install the version from play store to see if it has more devices but IR not working yet on AOSP based ROMs yet.

Oh okay, I take it the reason it was working before is because then I was on LG's ROM not an AOSP rom? If this is case, would the backup I made of the LG ROM be of any use? I could pull out the quick remote app or something.
I don't know much about coding for android devices but I can still help. Let me know what I can do to get this project rolling again!

The app is from the LG ROM... Going to have to debug more and see what's going on. You can use the Android SDK or app from play store to see logcat output and see where the errors are. I just don't have time to work on it right now...

I no longer have v500, returned it and waiting for my v510 to get here. Hopefully we can figure something out that works on both models.
If you check in the G2 themes and apps forum there is a way to get QRemote working with AOSP ROMs and maybe the same method and/or files will work on G Pad.

My friend got it working on his g2 by just download an apk, but trying to put that apk on a v500 (running cm11) unfortunately does not work.
I reckon you'd need a lot of LG framework in order to make this work on AOSP. I wont stop you tho, would be neat. ^^
Hi everyone, I know from the adaway thread that some of us have had problems getting adaway working with the gpad.
I tried it again 2 days ago as I'm finding other apps/mods to be less effective.
I can only speak for cm11 as that's the only one I've tested, but adaway is now working properly with it. No fiddling, no tweaking the app, just the normal straight forward install.
As I have said I've been using it for 2 days now (still v2.8) so I don't believe it's adaway that's been updated more something that's been changed in cm11
Hope some of you will find this helpful,

Hi,
I can recommend you Xposed framework with MinMinGuard. So far 100% effective. Easy to use.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2597332
There are many other useful modules (block YouTube ads, XPrivacy, Halo...)
Be sure to use Dalvik runtime. Xposed is not compatible with ART for now.

Hi, adaway was always working 100% fine with stock rom, so it certainly has to be something with cyanogen mod and not with adaway. Looking at cm11 thread i see that many people report that in the last days they have fixed various things in the rom like the knock off feature and some games like dead trigger 2, and now you report that adaway is working normally. So i guess every day that passes the cyanogen has fewer bugs than the earlier versions.

Yes I already use Xposed, for several apps including the Youtube blocker.
I'm subscribed to the MinMinGuard thread already as I think it has lots of potential.Though I need extra defence for Chrome. Hence why I like adaway as it does it all.
The thread was more to let others know that Adaway is working again with cm11 and as a few of the roms are based on CM, hopefully the changes will trickle down to them too.
It's a bit odd but the gpad has had problems with running adaway since we started getting roms. So it's all good news for us

I really love the scheduled messaging option that @sbreen94 re-enabled in Hyperdrive rs15, but that disappeared in rs17, so I added it.
This is my first time modding an apk and was it frustrating. Realized that I had to use the stock framework-res and twframework-res, then came the signing an apk. I also had problems using apktool at first. I ended up having to download apktool2, manually configure java through the Linux terminal, and etc. I can now do this in like 2 minutes now, though!
I did take the apk from the Hypderdrive RS17, which is based on KK. I'm not sure if it'll work with all KK or only Hyperdrive. Let me know, although I don't know enough to fix it.
Change the permissions to 0644 and move under /system/app or /system/priv-app/ (depends on the Rom)

Yeah. Relace the SecMms.apk with this version. When you open the app it asks if you want it to be your default.
I'm not sure what ROM or Android version you're on, but my settings app (just got done modding it too lol) has a Default Messaing App option under More Data Options.

Alright. Let me know. I installed it on a friend's phone and it worked fine. I'm working on changing the package name so that I can give it to people without having to have a rooted device, but that's a bit confusing because I'm having to decompile the app. If anyone sees this and wants to shoot me a link or what to edit then I'm all up for it. I edited the .yml and the Android Manifest file.

Not decompiling the app. That's not confusing. The confusing part is trying to find everything I need to change and what files to copy over to the original after I change them.

I cannot get xposed working on this (11112014) bulid of beanstalk or the previous build of beanstalk. Sent from my SGH-I717
No, I believe what it is saying is select to switch to dalvik, and that it is currently running ART. Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but that's how I see it. Does anyone know of a way to enlarge the font on one app independently from the OS on ART?
Has anyone been using these builds for the vs985 by Invisiblek?

I had this same exact problem. I am currently running the 20151118 build. I tried the 20151119 build but couldn't get my phone to boot. I have yet to use any of the newer builds.
I've been running the latest builds no problems at all. The only thing that I have to do is if I'm flashing an update I flash the zip and also flash the make permissive zip. If you don't the ROM will not boot. I hope this helps.
CM13 has been running great for me, aside from:
a hard lock when trying to pair bluetooth devices. No matter what I try, I can't get this to work.
The built in camera app is good for one picture at a time for me.
20151129 nightly and these issues are still present. If these aren't dealbreakers, or if you want to see if maybe you don't have these issues, give it a shot.
