Whenever I disconnect my Gear S from my Note 4 via Bluetooth I receive 10 of these text messages from AT&T. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this also. It seems I can't forward the calls from my phone while BT is disconnected, however data on the watch works.
Seems like it might have something to do with the way the watch was added to my account, but I'm not sure.
Any ideas?

hello all,
I have just updated my TP to 3.0.4 and was eager to see that we can now connect none palm phones to the TP and send/receive phone calls and sms via the TP. THe good news is that now my TP does recognize my Evo (running Decks ROM / CM7 based) but I can not use it for anything, not even to transfer files (pictures, documents, etc...) does anyone know how to correct this? Or is this feature still not supported for the Evo? TIA.
Having same problem with EVO and TP paring.
I have also been able to pare my HTC EVO with the TP as a phone but cannot make or receive calls, send or receive sms messages. Every time I try the TP has a pop up that states Must be connected to phone, I click on this and verify that the EVO is connected but still cannot do anything?
If your touchpad is connected to your phone via bluetooth, and you have that blue check on your touchpad saying your connected, then you're good to go.
However, I believe your only limited to receiving phone calls on your touchpad, nothing else. No making phone calls, no sending/receiving files.
Give it a shot: connect it via bluetooth, make sure its connected, and call your cell phone from a house phone or something. Your hp touchpad should light up prompting you to receive the call.
The bluetooth profile required for all of this to work properly is implemented on very few handsets. It doesn't work properly for most people.
A number of recent HTC handsets supposedly support it, but it sounds like the Evo doesn't.

you sir, are correct. I am only able to receive phone calls. Anyone referencing this thread should know that (at least with the evo) you can not make phone calls, send/receive sms or mms, or transfer files via Bluetooth. You can only receive calls. Maybe someone in the dev community will create a fix or patch for this in time. In any event, its an improvement.
I was able to pair my HTC Sensation to my touchpad and was able to make/receive calls and send/receive text messages
Mods for EVO?
Are there mods that can be made to a rooted EVO that would allow to both send and receive calls and sms? If so what and where would they be found?
I'm using different SIM cards, with different numbers, on the Android and on the Gear S. The Gear S is set to use the Gear number for calls and for SMS sending. If I send an SMS to the Gear number, it always arrives there. If I try to send (compose or reply) an SMS message from the Gear, then:
* 99% of the cases it gives a timeout and is not sent
* if I quickly put the Gear in airplane mode, then turn airplane mode off, then send immediately the SMS, is is always sent
Any hints? Does anybody have issues with SMS sending (originating from the Gear, not proxied via the phone)?
Br,
C
PS. - I guess I just posted in the wrong area, but I have no clue as of how to move this to the Troubleshooting zone ...
When this happens, is your watch connected to your phone via BT? The watch's cell radio is auto-disabled whenever it is BT connected to the phone.

The watch is not connected via BT when this happens, and the 3G is always on. I made sure it only has the 3G connection and it is set to use the Gear number ...
Then you probably have SIM card or account setup issue not related to Watch itself. I don't know which region your watch is from. Here in US, my AT&T version won't allow sending text message from watch's radio using another number. It has to be the number of the watch itself. Security restrictions from the carrier I guess.

Did that too, forced the operator to send the configuration again to the Gear number, received it on the Gear, approved the setup, got the MMS and internet APNs updated ... the Gear sends SMSs from its own number, and it works for a couple of minutes after it is out of airplane mode, then stops working. It can also receive messages anytime, without any problems - so it must be something else. Since I seem to be alone having this issue, I will probably reflash and reinstall, maybe it fixes itself
I'm having almost the same problem except with calls --- texts go through fine both ways, but I can only receive calls, when I try to make an outgoing call on the gear in standalone mode (phone not connected) it says either "unexpected response" or "emergency calls only" I think it could be a firmware bug as I found two firmware updates I'd missed (will test it tomorrow, currently a storm so no ATT reception here) but make sure your firmware is latest version, if it's not, update it and try again.
i'm on the latest fw, take care, you may lose text messages too
Ah, well I guess it wont help you >.< sorry. Good Luck!
Though in my case, after updating the firmware it works perfectly for calls/texts now! Data doesn't work, but I don't really need that (I have an unlimited plan on my phone and excellent reception usually, the gear's tiny plan ($10/3 months) is just for those odd times when I forget my phone or it's battery dies, or it has no reception and I *have* to make a call --- to date not had a problem like that in 10 years, but peace of mind for $3/month is worth it )
My call forwarding on my AT&T Phone and AT&T Gear S won't connect. Anyone know of any threads or remedies?
Fixed My Own Problem
Ok I fixed my own problem and now it works better than before. I got on the chat with AT&T and they set up the call forwarding on their end. The Gear S still says there is no call forwarding connection though, so I disabled the option. Since it is enabled through AT&T, however, on a remote connection I can receive calls from both my phone number and my Gear S number. All the while call forwarding is disabled on the Gear S. I can receive texts through both numbers as well. The only downside is, to disable the call forwarding I would have to contact AT&T again. But I don't really know why I would ever want to disable that. I'm just going to leave my phone in a constant remote connection and get all the benefits of a regular bluetooth connection plus the ability to receive calls and texts on my Gear S number.
Customization
Ok wait. To customize my watch, such as adding new clocks and wallpapers, I would have to be on bluetooth. But that's no biggie i'll just reconnect.
Nevermind
This method does not work. Calls to my original number do not show up on my phone. Just my watch. I missed a call today because I had my watch turned off. Even though my phone was turned on, I didn't see the call. It went straight to my watch which wasn't on. AT&T said there is no way I could get the same call to appear on both my watch and my phone. So I'm still out of luck on getting the call forwarding option thru the Gear S working.
Considering a Gear S over an Urbane, specifically because the Gear S can function absent my phone (Note 4). However, I keep reading the Gear S won't do this or won't do that. It has me confused. Please confirm the Gear S will do the following if my phone is absent:
1: Recieve a call, Make a call.
2: Recieve a text, Reply to a text, Send a text.
3: Recieve notifications (Gmail, Handcent, Calendar, ect).
4: Using Opera Mini, view/reply to email & add Calendar events.
What won't it do without the phone?
Lastly, I understand the Gear S can be connected via Bluetooth (phone close by) or via data (phone far away). Which is better for battery life?
It does everything you have asked as long as you have a data plan through a carrier (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, etc.). The watch is given it's own phone number to receive and make calls/texts. There are options to use the watch's # or the phone's # when you are connected via bluetooth to the phone. It also has a wifi chip so you can connect to a network instead of using your data plan. It also has a standalone GPS chip for navigation or running.
When you're not connected to your phone, it will still receive all your phone notifications on your watch.
If you have a note 4 and are looking for a watch, this is a no brainer. I have a note 4 and I love mine.
Excellent. Thanks for the response.
I have a Samsung Note 5 from Verizon. My friend has a Samsung S6 from Verizon. We both have issues receiving app related messages in Whatsapp, Line, Kik, and Skype. When the phone, I'm guessing its a sleep mode when you hit the power button when not using the phone, we don't receive notifications of texts until you open the phone and or start the app. It doesn't happen all the time but enough to make you mad. Also sometimes when the phone is even on. I'm guessing its the OS because of my friends doing it also with a different phone. The phones aren't rooted or anything. We are in good WIFI areas and its connected. Also I noticed if I shut off the WIFI and turn it back on the phone it will then receive the text. And no were not on the same WIFI, different states. Has anyone else had this issue or heard of it? Thanks for any help.
