Edify Defs help! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been trying to get my device into dsixda kitchen but can't configure the edify file. Can someone tell me how to make it? Also there is a partition called "konka". What is that? I have attached the dumchar_info, mounts and emmc files from proc folder of stock rom and the updater script from a working custom rom I found online. My phone is Symphony Xplorer W128 bulid.id= W128. It runs on the mtk6582 chipset.

[Q] create initrd with hello world

Hello!
I've got a gt-i9100 (glalaxy SII) with android 4.0.4( No CWM, no Root)
I want to make a recovery image, that when it start running a simple HelloWorld application (printf("Hello World\n") on the screen for example).
1) Samsung Stock recovery image running init(which initializes fs, mount partitions. etc.), then running recovery binary file, which doesn't contains exec (so, I can't add "exec /sbin/HelloWorld" in recovery.rc file).
Is there a way to run the application, modifying rc files in initrd? (I can compile stock kernel from sources, pack/unpack an initrd)
2) I make my own initrd, which contains busybox+udev+some initial scripts. But after flash, phone is going into reboot loop
Maybe someone managed to create "own little" initrd?
3) I think than I can use update.zip file for my goal. So, I downloaded an example of update.zip and make my own update.zip file with HelloWorld application. I've install ZipSigner and "sign" my update.zip with all keys. But for every key stock recovery says that update.zip is not verified.
I don't know how to work with zipsigner and update.zip or ZipSigner doesn't support 4.0.4 android?
Maybe someone was trying to do the same work?
any ideas?
Thanks!

[Q] Problem with using android kitchen. Help needed.

I had been trying to make a custom ROM or porting a ROM for Micromax Canvas A 96. It has only one custom ROM found in 'needrom' site. As the stock ROM is in a format suitable for SP Flashtool , I wanted to make a CWM flashable ROM in zip format, so that porting will be easier. For this purpose I need 'METAINF' Folder with updater script. So, after searching I came across a guide on 'Converting boot.img +system.img' to CWM flashable zip ROM. I followed it and used android kitchen and got a ROM in zip in the output folder which I re-named (during working on 'cygwin' window). Now I checked it by extracting with 'Express zip' windows software, and it says " The zip is corrupted or encrypted or empty or in an incompatible format'. Now, I do not know how to go about it. Please help me.

How to make yaffs2 img on windows

Hi everybody
I'm new on this big forum, so this my first post...
I have made a backup for my chinese tablet (MT6582) by using MTK droid tools, and I have installed a recovery for it and I installed a rom but it didn't work. So I want now to restore the first stock rom by installing the backup with the SP flash tool ... I have all the wanted files (img) just the system.img file because I have just the system folder. So my question is: How to convert(pack) the system folder to a yaffs2img file. :good:
up ; I'm waiting your answer
please help me

How can I mount/extract .img files from MTK scatter firmware/rom?

I downloaded the stock rom for a Motorola device (E4 Plus) and know how to flash it with SP Flash Tool it but I'm curious as to how I could mount/extract the .img files to see what's inside and try modifications.
Trying to mount the .img files as ext4 on Linux fails and running simg2img also fails. Any ideas?
Another thing I'm wondering is if there's a way to convert the scatter files to a flashable rom (zip file)? and why are the scatter files so large compared to "normal" flashable roms?
