[Q] Reboot Z Ultra On AC power - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Hi Folks,
I would like to boot up my zu c6833 when it is connected to AC power.
After some research, I noticed the Nexus 7 can achieve this through adding strings in bootloader binary:
Code:
fastboot oem off-mode-charge 0
And Samsung devices can achieve this through modifying the file "system/bin/playlpm" with boot command added in.
A similar solution works with Moto E through deleting the file "system/bin/charge_only_mode".
So, if anyone knows how to modify the ZU to get it automatic boot up when the charger is pluged? Thanks!

have a read of http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z-ultra/help/dash-install-zu-truck-externalize-power-t2896692

Thanks @blueether. I read the thread before but could not understand how exactly the ZU can be made to boot on charging from that thread.
Does the Pimped Kernel caused the ZU to be able to boot from AC power. Can I assume if I flash the kernel, I will be able to boot the phone on AC power? Thanks for your help.

my CM 11 kernel will boot when AC is connected, as will my build of the Sony AOSP 5.0.x kernel, just tested the Z1 multiboot boot.img on a c6802 and that boots on charge as well

Is that possible to give more details on the purpose of flashing Z1 multiboot boot.img on a c6802? Sorry for the noob question but I did not know the Z1 multiboot would work on a ZU and if so, the ZU would do multiboot as well? Are there any links I could follow and do more research?
Thanks in advance.

If I get time I was going to try and port it across to the togari. At the moment it only works for main ROM on the ZU

How?
Since it is possible to boot non Sony ROMS with LB ROMS are popping out of the ground like trees.
@ OP: Is it possible to do the same with KitKat (CM11)?
Nice work!
Wow amazing work, it is as if ROMs are raining down from the sky now on LB now.

All these roms existed back on 4.1.2...They were based on a 4.3 kernel..Now that we have a 4.3 kernel we don't need to change kernel so anyone can rebuild the roms based on the stock kernel.Unlocking the bootloader enables you to change kernels but now we have a 4.3 rom and if we rebuild it based on a 4.3 stock kernel there is no need of having unlocked bootloader.... KitKat roms require a change of kernel(4.4 kernel) which you can't change unless you have unlocked bootloader
Woooot.
And another one! ^^
TBH, the only one that's missing me is slim.... ^^

Thanks very much, can you make a function to lock apps? xD if not please
try to made a kernel to 4.4.2 for locked bootloader if possible?
You are awesome!

I LOVE U
Well, KitKat is totally possible on locked BL. We don't need to change kernels for it, we "just" need to compile a module for every change in the kk kernel, and then insmod the modules before hijacking ramdisk. So, it's possible, but really time-consuming.
The best solution is to get kexec working on locked BL's.
There's a thread on xda about it, where delewer, dh.harald and others tried to make it work. Maybe you, @bagyusz, should try? You showed us that you have great skills.
And, just to clarify, with kexec we will be prepared for Android 4.5, 4.6... and we won't need to make separate ROMs for locked and unlocked BLs. Also, MultiROM solutions would be possible.
Complete freedom and equality!
Sorry for my English!
BUG FOUND : CPU THERMAL HIGH
The cell is burning on my hand can you fix this?
Can you do a kitkat rom for locked bootloader ?

I need a TWRP recovery for CM12 and it must compatible with Xperia Z Ultra because I love TWRP and I have find so much mods and I have a selfmade Kernel and I cannot flash them.

[TWRP][lux] TWRP for Moto X Play

This is my version of TWRP built for the 2015 Moto X Play. It should work fine, but using it is a try at your own risk procedure. Your bootloader must be unlocked to use this recovery. Fastboot mode is used to flash or boot this recovery. To enter fastboot mode, turn off your device, hold PWR and VolDn for 3 seconds, then let go.
Differences between upstream TWRP and my fork:
My original green theme
No SuperSU
No TWRP app
No HTC Dumlock cruft
Updated pigz compressor (slightly faster and more tolerant of corruption)
To temporarily boot this recovery:
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
To permanently flash it:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
The download is up on the downloads tab.

Is this actually built for X Play? I know it sounds silly but there's no kernel source yet is there? Or do we not need that to build recovery?
Sent from my Vodafone Smart ultra 6 using Tapatalk
Yes it's build for X Play, based on G 2015 device tree. I'm using MSM8916 generic kernel from Motorola, modded by @squid2 (https://github.com/sultanqasim/android_kernel_motorola_msm8916)
Ahh that's great. Thanks for this my device should be delivered tomorrow so I'll be definitely using this.
We will still need kernel source for cm12 etc though surely?

TWRP working fine here on XT1562
I'm making a stock TWRP Backup + some partition dump
Next move will be starting playing with CM12.1

Yes i think we'll have to wait for kernel sources to get a working custom.
Already build one (SOKP) but cannot get it to boot (with stock kernel or msm8916 kernel)

Try adding these to the defconfig: https://github.com/sultanqasim/andr..._twrp2/arch/arm/configs/ext_config/lux.config
EDIT: I made a dedicated defconfig that you can try for this recovery: https://github.com/sultanqasim/andr...p2/arch/arm/configs/msm8916-minilux_defconfig
Wow thanks for your great work. Soon, we'll be able to get custom kernel to go with the stock firmware. We will probably get better performance with a properly tuned CPU governor. I'd also love to see CM12 being ported but the Moto firmware is already really good. In fact, I'm not sure if I could live without the added feature like Moto Voice and Moto Assist.

So flashing this restores functionality on a XT1562?
And another thing, if your TWRP version is working when I fastboot boot it, is it guaranteed that it'll work when I fastboot flash it? And another thing: Is there a possibility to backup stock recovery, just in case TWRP doesn't work properly? I tried booting your TWRP version and backing it up but that didn't work (duh.)
Best wishes

Stock Recovery is also available on my backup.
And yes, if TWRP is working while booting it, should work also fine when flashing it.
Be sure to use the latest version by @vache
Ok thx.
And another thing, I made a backup of my recovery partition via ls -al /dev/block/platform/7824900.sdhci/by-name
followed by
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p32 (the partition that had the name "recovery"assigned in the output of the first command)
and got a nice recovery.img written to my sdcard.
Now from my understanding, in case something goes wrong with TWRP i should be able to restore my stock recovery via fastboot flash recovery nameoftheimagethatidumped.img, is that correct?

Complete waste of time. I tried several different ways to flash this ROM but it's just not compatible with the XZ1 8341. Now i have to flash back to stock and the restore my TWRP backup.
Incompatible ROMs should NOT be posted on these forums unless they have been tested at the very least by the OP.

Hey, I'm asking this just to be sure that we can consider the rom incompatible for our device.
You used the rom that said A-only, right? Since the thread states that the XZ1 only supports build A-only. If so, we could try mentioning the issues you experienced in the original thread.
Thank you for your time.
Edit: I've just seen your posts in the original thread. Sorry for the quote.
No it's ok, I don't mind helping, it's just frustrating. I flashed the A only nosu vanilla version, then booted into TWRP and performed a factory reset and when I rebooted into system the phone just hangs on the Sony boot screen for ages then reboots and does the same thing again and again.
I had the same experience with all A-only versions.

[ROM][AOSP 9.0.0_r37][XZ1 G8341/G8341] [Vanilla][90/120Hz]

Xperia XZ1 G8341 Vanilla AOSP ROM
This is my first ROM and its fully Vanilla. I Just followed this Build guide without any modifications whatsoever.
The future goal is to build a stable Rom with mostly FOSS Software, stability and useful tools/settings.
Bugs/missing functions i discovered so far:
- Camera Not working always and -> Lens Distortion. Although RAW should be possible.
- Sony Bootlogo has some Artifacts
- No automatic APN setting
- No NFC 25.05 working
- No 90/120Hz mode (or does it?)
- No Display Colour Calibration
- Low Singlethread Geekbench Score (836) and (6060 Multicore) [Governors and schedulers not optimized]
Fingerprint Sensor is working and it takes some time to find Network (not sure if bug or normal).
I hope to find usable answers to those problems + ideas and hope, to receive enough feedback to improve as much as possible.
Just Flash all files (boot, recovery [or any working TWRP], system, vendor, userdata and the OEM Binaries [
SW_binaries_for_Xperia_Android_9.0_2.3.2_v9_yoshino.img] and you should be good to go.
XZ1 Single Sim(25.05.19)
XZ1 Dual Sim

120Hz Mode
Obviously I am not responsible for bricked devices or anything that this could be related to.

There is little to nothing about this I could find for the xz1 except one oreo based rom. I have to compile the kernel for it and find out if 60+ hz is really working and how to succesfully implement a toggle option for it. Since im new at this it might take some time without help but its something I want to impliment.
The Xz1s Display obviously is really underperforming in non Sony roms without the "Bravia engine" (colour apperence) imo compared to other open roms. I tried the Bravia magisk module but could not see any difference (also did not checked what it should do at system level).
So if someone has more knowledge feel free to share
I compiled a Kernel from here and modified:
arch/arm64/boot/dts/qcom/dsi-panel-somc-poplar-base-sde.dtsi
arch/arm64/boot/dts/qcom/dsi-panel-somc-poplar-sde.dtsi
arch/arm64/boot/dts/qcom/dsi-panel-somc-poplar.dtsi
(changed 60hz to 90/120hz).
How can I check if the Panel really is working under those frequencies and if other steps are needed?
When compiling I got an Error with drivers/staging/wlan-qc/qcacld-3.0 -> so i removed them from drivers/staging/Kconfig (So apparently no Wifi).
These are the Kernels (boot):
90Hz
*Update 29.05. I Fixed Wifi for the 120Hz version. link in first post
Camera seems to work without problems (also Raw) so I guess there is something wrong with the precompiled Sony Kernel.
Also the Sony bootlogo is not present (no artifakts??)
And again. Flash at own risk.
What about the version for two SIM cards?
Model G8342.
Your rom works perfect on my phone, thanks dev.
Btw, doesn't it support Treble? I cannot boot any of the GSI roms on the forum...

It should support Treble.
Maybe you also need to flash "Disable DM Verity" and "Magisk" after
Can be used on G8342 ? ?
Sent from my Sony Xperia XZ1 using XDA Labs

The Kernel is for AOSP (Linux kernel 4.9) so normally it shouldnt work with the Stock Firmware but i dont know if it works with the patched Existenz rom.

Its for the single Sim.
Im not satisfied with the current State but I can build a dual sim version as well. (Building on hdd due to small SSD so it might take a while)
Screen is not responsive (SOV36). Any suggestions?

Does it respond different while charging?
Is the screen properly clean?
Try flashing the last stock rom > same result?
If not try flashing any gsi > result?
Then full cfw flash + sw binary.
And do factory resets before flashing.
Hoping for the best. Not sure how and if the SOV36 model differs from the rest

Dis you try one of these GSIs and did you flash the SW-Binaries after?
How "non responsive" is it? Laggy/Not at all/Ghost touches etc.?
Since this is off-Topic i will delete this message after you read it. You shuld open a new Thread where the Problem could be discussed.:good:
