[Q] MEdiapad 10 Link and 10 Link+ hardware difference? - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

Hello
My question has being - due search i came up - Mediapad 10 Link and Mediapad 10 Link+ appear to be similar devices except CPU speed - one is 1.2 Ghz quad-core other is 1.6 Ghz quad-core.
Anything else looks exact same - buoth are 4G tablets with 3 Mpix camera and 0.3 mpix front camera. GPS on both present, Wifi present.
Difference in numbers in Huawei support site seems to be S10-201L and second model is marked as S10-231L
For first one u can find only file available - 4.1.2 version for second model u can find 4.2 with EMUI 1.6
I have not seen any links of Link+ file system or anything else around on forum .... maybe someone can bring some additional data in ?
Comparsion link http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6169&idPhone2=5507
[EDIT - found answer after 2 hours of diggining deep in to dirt}
CPU: - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HiSilicon - appears , it's not only Cortex A9 u look at, but chip itself in play :S
32 bit Huawei HiSilicon KIRIN910 Hi6620 V9R1 on Mediapad 10 Link+
32 bit Huawei HiSilicon K3V2 Hi3620 on Mediapad 10 Link
along with graphics difference -
ARM Mali-450 on Link+(S10-231L) and Vivante GC4000 on Link (S10-201L)
Does someone know - if graphic drivers are compiled in to package separately "for platform" or they are universal something?

I think the drivers are in .so /.ko libs and modules along with the kernel code to talk to the vivante h/w via the blobs (example mali.ko )
If you are choosing between the two avoid the K3V2 in the 10Link, huawei dont seem to be producing the updated vivante drivers (blobs) required for KK/lolipop kernels, too old i guess.
If you intend to any developing i would look at other brands of cpu, the docs on the Hisilicon based cpu's is poor to very bad.

I would ask someone with more experience than me. May try someone like hashcode or koush.... they will be more helpful.
Please hit the thank you button if i helped!

Sorry man, i know how to edit roms that have already been made and make apps, but making a rom work on another phone is past me.

Galapad Galaxy G1 (Galapad 7)

I rooted this device by finding an update.zip on a chinese forum, since april i see it is already here too
Now i want to use a DSLR with the Tablett but OTG seems not be correct implemented or 100% working with the camera.
I already posted a threat to DSLR Controller in this forum but meanwhile i would be interested if there is a way
to install a custom kernel or custom firmware like Venom (Viper) / Cynogen?
Data:
- Android Version 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean)

A Friend of mine got a Galaxy Nexus 7 and could install with no problem a windows.
Is there no way to install a custom kernel or custom rom on it, if which one could be the right one?
Any help appriciated
Primary target so far i want to make a recovery like i can do now with 4ext Recovery on my HTC Sensation with VIPERS.
If you are interested there is an English forum for the Galapad here at slatedroid.
Hopefully we get some update there.
Hi, I am considering buying the same galapad 7, for the same purpose dslr ptp.
@Ebshow: the link you mentioned does not contain any info about OTG
@cobra98: did you manage to make the OTG working?
thanks
Yes, otg works. Wireless KB and mouse also works.
If you consider to buy one, be sure to get atleast the 16Gb version. 8 fills up easy.
I can't root this device and I can't move programs to sd card. What should I do?
Was anyone ever able to get source code from the company?
Hi, anyone knows what rom to install in this device to make it run atleast android 5?
Thanks!

Hi !
I think i am close using Chuwi Hi8 Pro or Cube iWorks 10 System.
But my efforts have been stopped as i was stupid enough to flash the newest FW that DISABLES booting Android.
Can someone answer here who has NOT flashed the new Firmware.
I need someone with this version:
BIOS: American Megatrends / Aptio, Core Version 5.011, Project BW3_VT4_C.10E
OR very similar. NOT the 109 version / BT4 found on the Trekstor page !
If you got it i have the tool to back it up to a file and THEN i guess we can make Android work.
Ender
Edit: got the file but something is wrong, have a Brick now

I'm sure you're no longer searching for the answer but here it is for those that come against it.
Long Answer: It depends, if the developer supports open source on their hardware and provides everything for a complete root of the device. Then if that is the case you would need to have all the exact model numbers and hardware versions for your chips. WiFi, Bluetooth, North bridge, South Bridge, etc etc. Then you would need to compile the kernels for all of those into your operating system. After that you would need to reconfigure your bios to to boot from the medium you put the completed image on. After that you would need to carefully install the OS. My guess is it wouldn't work the first time and you would have to do some tinkering to get to work properly. After all that you no longer have support on the device. All of that would be null and void.
Short Answer: Your better off just buying a micro PC for 150 on Amazon and using that. The potential for disaster with a non IT Expert is just plan Russian roulette. At that it only may be possible your hardware vendor could not support rooting the device. Then you would need to see if others have built a root package that unlocks the boot from as well.
