Hi All,
Can someone please recommand me a good protector? I'm currently using the Smartphone Experts one...the material does a great job in reducing smudges and oil marks but I strongly recommend against that brand because it looks like it was cut by a 5 yo with safety sisscors. The non straight cuts and horrible fitment doesn't bother me too much as the Innocase covers the edges, but it causes the protector to be lifted around the entire edges. This drives me nuts as I'm pretty anal regarding cosmetics.
I know there's the Brando (?) one, but haven't found any reviews regarding quality..any others?
Thanks,
I've used only three brands of screen protectors... I can recommend that Clarivue is the best of Stock T-Mobile Screen Protector and Zagg. Clarivue is simple and is anti smudge/glare to apply to your phone and much tougher than T-Mobile Screen Protector, but Zagg is even more protective but it has issues like orange peel and the screen is very sticky and hard to apply, and it doesn't look so good with smudges and oil marks. The worst of all is the screen protector is very hard to slide your finger or even stylus around.
Just ordered. Thanks for the recommendation!
It's on sale for $10.99 for 2 + 10% discount (code: Clarivue7) + free shipping = $10.38/tax!!
I also found a great detailed review here.
Edit - can't post link..but you can google "Clarivue Anti-glare screen protector for Droid" posted on androidforum
I have been using the Boxwave anti-glare screen protector and I think it is an excellent product but I do not like their customer service. Just recently I noticed a scratch on my LCD so I email Boxwave to send me a replacement.
It took them 3 days to return my email, and I ended up playing a cat and mouse game with them to send me a replacement. Keep in mind everytime I sent them an email it took them 3 days to get back to me. I first opened a case with them on 4/05 and finally as of yesterday they accepted the RMA and will send me a replacement.
That is very poor customer service due to the time frame. They do not even post phone #'s to call them directly. I really cannot tolerate poor customer service and I will be doing business with them again. I've dealt with ZAGG, bodyguardz and Phantom Skinz. None of them took this long to take care of an issue.
As I said if you want a nice anti glare screen protector try Boxwave's, but if issues arise don't expect them to handle it any time soon.
I read good things about Boxwave too, but $15.55 each shipped is a little too steep for me. According to ppl who have used both, quality between the 2 is minimal. :fingers crossed:

Cool, hope you respond to this thread again when you get it and give us your review
So I received my Clarivue Anti-glare protectors today. I must say the whole order processing/shipping process was very fast.
Comparing this to the SPE protector, physically, the material is noticably thinner which makes the touchscreen a bit more responsive. As for cut, this one is better, but still not perfect comparing to Seidio or OEM...but it's ok because my Innocase covers most of the edges. One thing that bugs me is the bottom is straight cut (not cut around the horns by the buttons), which I don't like.
I've been putting on protectors for years, yet I still suck at it. Took me about 10 tries...kept getting dust in between. Since it's static, I washed it a few times with soap and water and it held up fine. I also applied it when it was still a little wet. I want to note that this protector is cut very well, no rough cuts meaning no lifts/airbubbles around the edges like the SPE.
Performance...well, I'm quite disappointed. Yes, it's thinner so it's more responsive, but I never really had any complaints/issues with the SPE one in that department. HOLY COLOR BLEEDING!! With Anti-glare protectors, it comes with it. The SPE one had it, but not enough to ever bother me, but this one, it's pretty bad. Also, on white (ie email), you can really see the red/white/blue. I'm going to keep it on and see if my eyes adjust..if not, I'm going to try the Brando one or go back to the SPE.
Note, for the TP2, I've used OEM, Seidio, SPE, flea market special and now Clarivue.
Edit - Since it's a thread on anti-glare/smudge, I should mention that it does very well at hiding fingerprints. Oil/face prints is ok, hides it better than reg protectors like it should. As for glare..not sure yet. I'm a hermit working in the flippin bat cave so I'll see sunlight when I leave work.
Update - it's only been a couple days and it already got a bit scratched. only wear it saw was in and out from my pocket...not amused
Pro-Tech Seems to Work
I've used Pro-Tech screen protectors for my last three phones -- works great: put it on once (carefully! follow directions!) and forget about it. About $10 for screen protector, and mine still look good after a couple of years each. Makes a good anti-smudge surface.
http://www.protechyourdevice.com/servlet/the-496/Protech-Invisible-Protection-Screen/Detail
figured id chime in on the screen protectors ...ive used about 3 different brands and finally bought the skinomi tech skin it was on amazon for 9.95 + ship and it comes with a lifetime replacment warranty ive had it for nearly a month now and although it doesnt help with the glare as much and shows finger prints .....i myself have personaly ran it through the paces ...i used my car key for a stylus one day ....just to see and sure enough it scratched it to what i thought was unrecoverable and then i plugged it in over night and when i woke up in the morning the screen was as clear as it was the night before so i wiped the fingerprints off of it and tried again
I have been using the ClearProtector for about a month now, and really like it so far. The fitment is just slightly off, but not so much that it would be a problem and it's very tough.
I personally LOVE my Ghost Armor. I used to only use Zagg, but I do not like the very rapid discoloration, the "orange peel" texture, and the stickyness of the film. Ghost Armor is clearer, thinner, smoother, and it doesn't give you that sticky feeling when you run your finger across it. It fits VERY well, and if you have a kiosk in your mall they will apply it for you in about 20 minutes. This also means if they mess up the application of the protector, they will just use a brand new one and fix it for you!
Go with Clarivue Anti-Glare!

I ordered the Clarivue Anti-Glare with the same deal back in February. (Except no tax, so my total was $9.89 for 2 screen protectors.) HERE is link for CDMA version. Other versions available at www.clarivue.com.
I love it! It makes screen glare almost nonexistent. Best of all, no fingerprints! As an added bonus, the tactile feel of the protector is nice, sort of like running your finger over fine paper. After a day, you don't even notice the difference.
Some people claim to experience a very slight "wet" or "halo" effect. I don't see that normally, unless I have strong reading glasses on, and then I only slightly notice it. In any event, it is not enough to defeat the positives.
All in all, I highly recommend the Clarivue Anti-Glare Screen Protector! I've used daily since February and am still on my first of 2 protectors. And with the deal, it's even better!
i know this phone has gorilla glass 2. But i read a few story of people getting scratches like nothing. Would like to know if anyone here is getting scratches and how
Not me but I use a screen protector. Best $10 I ever spent on my phone! Well any phone for that matter.
Yep I have scratches. Not quite sure how it happened. Thinking it was when I had it in my pocket one day.

I just picked some up from ATT until my Otterbox case comes in. I think it was a "Moshi" or something like that. I got it heavily discounted from the corp store. And to be honest its a pretty nice screen protector so far! Easy to apply and take off to clean.
What about you? I hear good things about SGP. Easy on the wallet and great quality.
I haven't received my gs3 yet but I have had the Droid since the day it came out and I keep it in my pocket with my keys and everything. It has very small scratches but nothing that you can see with the screen on.
I can't imagine the GS3 being any less scratch resistant.
No scratches at all. Always put it in my pocket and no screen protector. Had my SGS2 for 8 months without getting any scratches on the screen without a screen protector.
I got a pretty deep scratch right in the middle of mine... I think from a piece of sand or grit or something. I dropped the phone from like 2 feet, it slid off the couch onto the hardwood floor before I got my case and screen protector I was pretty upset, especially after seeing these videos of people going at it with knives and screwdrivers and whatnot with zero damage. Had my nexus one for like 2.5 years no scratches on the glass...
I keep mine in my pocket all day no scratches yet. Don't like screen protectors they make the screen look crappy

No scratches here, either. My previous phone was a Moto Photon (first gen Gorilla Glass). No scratches after a year of pocket carry.
I never use cases or screen protectors. I like the naked feel of a phone.
Yah I got a scratch already. My bad. Only notice it when the screen is off. No worries.

I have a couple of little micro scratches that can only be seen if the light hits the screen at the right angle. No big deal at all. I hate screen protectors.
Yup, went in at about 10 am today, finally left around 10:45 with my new phone and it had light small hairline scratches on the side of the phone. I hadn't even touched it other than to login and download a few apps. My hands were clean and I didn't put it in my pocket, as I walked outside I noticed the scratches because of the daylight glaring on it.
I took it back and they exchanged it for me.
I am on the no screen protector and no scratches bandwagon.
Release day gs3.
Also release day gs2 that didn't every have a screen protector and no scratches.
And I do not baby the phone.
I don't baby my phone either but managed to get a scratch on the very first day. All I can remember doing was holding several phones together walking in from my truck and it got a scratch from some sand on the back of one case that was up against the S3 screen. Way too easy if you ask me. I took my original Zagg off of my nexus and put it on the S3. Can't see it now though.

I got it on release day for sprint, about 2 days ago my girlfriend borrowed it quickly to make a call while I had it out playing with it, she handed it back and I saw a smudge. Turned out the smudge was a little cluster of 5 light scratches, tiny though.
Earrings are the devil. It's not even like they were diamonds or anything super expensive, just cheap daily wearers.
I was a little bummed immediately (hid it well though to not make her feel bad, lol) but really they are only noticeable if the screen is off and you're trying to look for them. Now it's officially mine
So yeah, guess I should of thought ahead but being that I don't wear earrings it never even occured to me in the moment. Still not going to grab a screen protector, I'm sure with how I abuse my phone in 8 months or so I'll end up having to get an insurance replacement anyway lol.
Nope, had a screen protector on it since day 1
I dont have any scratches. I kept the in-box screen cover for almost a week until Realook started shipping their dry-type protectors. Now I got them and I can recommend to anyone. No change to screen quality and tocuh feel. Had Realook on my Vibrant for 2 years and served well.

I have no scratches on my screen; I just use a tpu case.
yeah mine had scratches right out of the box and the paint was chipped. gonna take it back.
I have had my Note 2 for one week now, and I have gotten a few very hairline scratches on the screen. I have NEVER placed my phone in a pocket with keys, dirt, debris, nor have I ever dropped it or misused it. The scratches are right where I normally swipe the screen to scroll on web pages, but I have never tried this with dirt on my hands.
I have babied this phone since day one and I feel frustrated that the Gorilla Glass 2 doesn't hold up nearly as well as its predecessor.
Questions:
1) I have a few days left to buy into the Geek Squad Protection Program, is it worth it? I've heard horror stories about them not standing behind their service.
2) Has anyone else had this problem with it scratching easily?
3) What is the best screen protector on the market?
Check the spigen Ultra Nano Clear screen protectors, they are awesome.
I have had my N2 since the day they where released and my screen is perfect even with no screen protector.
As far as the BB protection plan, my Son is checking into that right now (he has the plan on a razr maxx that needs to be replaced) His best friend works at BB so he is checking on what they do/don't cover next time he goes to work.
I have also had a great experience with my SGP ultra crystal protector. It doesn't even collect fingerprints as badly as I thought it would.

My screen is still pretty scratch free, with the exception of a few minor ones.
As far as the Geek Squad Plan, I used to work for Best Buy Mobile. In my time there I never refused a phone. The one thing to be aware of is that scratches don't count as it being a broken/faulty phone. If it was cracked it would then be replaced. Other important factor is that you don't get an immediate replacement. They send it out and you get a new phone shipped back to the store in about 2 days. You can either use an old device or get a "loaner" phone from BB. I don't work for Best Buy anymore but still do have the Protection Plan on all my phones. I've used it a few times even after rooting and returning to stock. Never had a problem.
Hope this helps.
You had something as hard as sand (or harder) rub against your screen.
There is nothing defective with GG, or GG2 (the difference is that 2 is thinner, not tougher). It just so happens that a substance harder than glass scratched it.
GG is not scratch proof, not by a long shot. Your phones didn't scratch like this before because they didn't encounter the same substance that scratched yours.
Gorilla Glass is pure marketing. All of the things they show not scratching GG, doesn't scratch other tempered glasses either.
Had my note 2 almost 2 weeks and have noticed a few very small scratches on the screen too. I picked up the Just Like Glass protectors for mine, get them in the mail today.
Try out the tech armor hd clear screen protectors, they work really well. No orange peel effect or screen distortion at all. Also they are going for under $4.00 on amazon if you have a prime account. In regards to the bb protection plan. I have never used it. I too have worked at bb in the past and all my coworkers agreed it wasn't worth it. Try out squaretrade. I have used them for all my phone warranties and they do an excellent job taking care of you in terms of sending a replacement or reimburrsing you should have to buy a new phone off contract price.

I've had my phone since before Christmas, and I do have stuff in my pockets with it during the week at work, though nothing metal, and the screen is still just as nice as before.
Ive had some scuffmarks appear..I just used some automotive scratch remover and it works great..

Well I think I'm going to try the Best Buy thing. Maybe my phone will unknowingly jump out of my pocket and shatter its screen next week.
The scratches are very small and hard to identify, but whenever I pull up a completely white screen, the scratches cause the light to reflect different colors. So a fully blank screen (white) has 1-2mm long and very thin blue/green/red-ish lines across it. Extremely annoying considering I will be having this phone for the next 2 years.
Any advise on the Best Buy warranty or the best way to go about filing for a new phone?
Also, screen protectors will be in hand whenever I get my replacement Note since it seems they aren't as durable as once thought.

It's actually very simple... If you don't want to get ANY scratches on your screen then buy a screen protector. :good:
I purchased a MIME tempered glass screen protector after trying others without success. First I had a Spigen nano glass tr which was nice. The Spigen didn't last long, my first 3 would lose the ability to adhere in certain areas after 1-3 weeks and my last one cracked without me dropping my phone. All of them were replaced by Amazon thankfully. I then tried the Extreme guard tempered glass which was so and I took it off after a day. I then did some research and decided that MIME would be the best because it only had the ear piece cut out as opposed to the huge ugly cut out that others have.
The MIME was by far the easiest installation I have come across. They include a anti dust sheet that is like a giant plastic screen protector that you user to get the dust off your screen before you place the glass on it. Then you just peel off the back and let the adhesive do the work. The quality is also unmatched in terms of the feel. There is no loss of touch sensitivity and the oleophobic coating doesn't wear off like my Spigen one did on my Note 3. It is also worth mentioning that the MIME has curved edges so it has a very nice feel and the curve prevents chipping for those of us who use the G3 naked.
After having my MIME for 7 weeks and surviving many small falls it finally broke. I was at school heading to my physics lab and my phone slipped out of my hand while opening a door. It fell down about 4ft and bounced onto some rocks off to the side of the building. I was worried that my phone was broken after that hard fall but thankfully only the MIME broke and there was no damage to my screen or phone at all. I was using a Cruzerlite TPU case which as most of you may know is very thin, yet it stands up to abuse very well.
Overall I'm very pleased with MIME and they even give you 40% off a replacement for any reason if it becomes defective or if you break it like I did. I'm ordering another one as soon as I get my code for the discount. Until then its back to the plastic one I had laying around my apartment.
When my replacement comes I will post an unboxing of the new one to complete this review. If anyone has questions feel free to let me know.
Here are the pictures of where it hit the rocks:
Great review.
I'm trying to decide which maker I get next.
I'm currently using a Spigen too and I have the same problem with the top corners losing adhesion. It looks awful.
Here is the one I am using. Its is sit on and has been on for going on 3 weeks now. I am very pleased with it..Good price and fit perfect even a case on the phone. Its the ICarez brand of Amazon..

I actually ordered one as a backup for until my MIME gets here. I hate using my phone without the tempered glass because the feel isn't the same and neither is the protection. The MIME is still three best tempered glass that I have tired over the past year or two with the 6-7 brands that I have used. I highly recommend it plus it doesn't suffer from the adhesion issue that others have.
Edit
also the two impact marks on the glass were fairly deep but MIME did a great job with their silicon barrier preventing any puncture or damage to my screen.
In the german Forum Android Hilfe is a posting of one user who´s G3 crashed on the floor, the Glas-Protection-shield without any damage but beneath the impact shattered the Display and the touchscreen modul.
Not even a scratch on the Hardglass Protector
Strange.....
I have a dbrand in order. It's gorilla glass 3 and .2mm thick. I am extremely careful with my electronics. I have never dropped my phone.

I am very carefully with mine as well, but unfortunately things happen when you are in a rush. I dropped my Note 3 with a Spigen glass tr and neo hybrid case from 7 feet and it was perfectly fine. I think it just depends on how it impacts the ground. Post some pictures of the dbrand glass, I'm curious to see how the cutout is on the top.
Its been 3 days and no response from MIME... Their website says they are having issues with their contact system. Does anyone know of another tempered glass that only had the speaker cutout and isn't Spigen or MIME? I'm anxious to get my tempered glass back and I currently have an icarez as a temporary replacement until I can find a better one.

It feels about the same, but mine keeps getting a tiny bubble off to the side which is annoying. I installed it perfectly with 0 bubbles/dirt and it keeps getting this rainbow bubble. So the quality isn't as good because it shouldn't keep popping up, also the cutout is not something that I am a fan of. If it keeps popping up I am going to send it back, but other that that, and the cutout its fairly nice. The fit isn't as close to the edge as the MIME so the gap bothers me since I'm OCD about how things fit on phones. (you can thank the years of going to school for engineering for that) I think that if I had a better cutout on the top (i.e. only for the speaker ) I would keep it as a permanent solution if it stays adhered to my screen.
Update MIME got back to me and sent me the 40% off a replacement. It should be here by Friday so I'll post a updated review with the unboxing and installation around then.
If I buy the MIME Tempered glass from a reseller (i.e. amazon) and not directly from MIME website, will I be able to receive the 40% off replacement ?

Amazon doesn't sell them as far as I know. I believe they are only sold directly from MIME but you would have to email them to find out.
Good luck with Mime I tried both there ghost and there regular on my nexus 5 , both failed within a month , I talked a good friend into buying one also at the same time , his failed also , chips on the corners , on each one , and I'm not talking about dropping it either , at first I thought it's my fault for trying something new at that time there Ghost had just come out , so after three times I'm sorry folks in world that means your OUT, yeah big deal they will keep selling them to you at I forget 60 % off or 40 % doesn't matter if the product keeps failing time after time every time , I've had an Iloome on my Note 3 for almost a year now still perfect as the day I put it on , and I bought an icarez for my G3 a couple mnths ago still perfect also , maybe it was just my bad luck , and my friends also , but if I had a choice I would buy Either an Icarez or an Iloome , I'm sure spigen's are great but at 3 times the price there are better options.......................Peace
if I use the Tempered glass with the Original LG G3 Quick Circle Case, am I going to have any problem to keep the flap in place (attached on screen, not slightly raised) due to the slight thickness that the glass adds?

My quick circle never liked to stay shut even without a glass screen protector. Spigen makes a magnet clip to keep it closed if you're worried about that.
What 3d glass screen have everyone ordered? Please share on this thread, my screens should be coming soon!!
I'm not a fan of glass screen protectors on a curved screen. There is always to much glare.

Thanks, looks like I will just go with a plastic protector. I've got a glass one on now but the touch sensitivity is pretty ****ty.
Not a great cover

I'm in the same boat with this screen protector. I put it on last night. I appreciated the little frame to help you guide it, but the screen response is crap. There is one section that I have to forcibly push down for it to register. There are some parts that lift and you can hear the plastic coming down to make contact with the screen when being touched. Not the best fit, and for $50 it better be perfect. Calling Best Buy after work to see about a return / refund. There was a $24.99 one there that I'll try next, but it didn't curve.
Just returned mine.

I just got back from Best Buy like 2 hours ago. I returned it and they asked no questions. I did, however, keep the screen on until I got there because I wanted to explain that I was afraid of breaking the screen protector upon removal. They said it was fine and to go ahead an remove it. It came off pretty easily, which made me wonder how long it would have stayed on if I would have decided to keep it. I got my $50 back and I instead bought the $24.99 I think you're talking about. Also made by Zagg called "HD Clear." Its a floppy plastic one and a lot harder to put on correctly but this is the one I had on my S6 and I loved it. Currently I have my S8 curing so the small bubbles can evaporate.
I'm wondering if after I return my Zagg I should just make a drive to the mall and visit the Ghost Armor kiosk and pay to have them put it on? Their website shows a 'case friendly' one costs $29.99 for the screen alone. Not sure how much the person putting it on would charge above that, but I've at least used them before and they also have a guarantee.
I had a tempered glass protector on my S6 that was great, but it had a flat screen so no issues. I tried 2 different tempered glass on my S7 Edge. Neither were any good so I went with a plastic shield that was OK but it's not the same as glass. I just put a Armorsuit plastic screen protector on my S8. It looks better than the one I had on my S7 Edge. If you go on Amazon and check out the reviews on the glass protectors, you see almost all bad reviews. The good reviews are probably mostly fake. I'm going to wait and see if someone finally makes a glass screen protector that actually works properly on curved screens.
I ordered the Philonext on Amazon, arriving tomorrow. I will post later on how it is.
The problem with the 3D curved tempered glass is that the adhesive they use is not like the flat glass versions. Not sure why no one can do this. If you look at all full coverage glass (had one for the LG V20, same issue) the adhesive is only on the outer most edges. Since the adhesive is like .02mm or so, the rest of the screen doesn't sit flat against the display. So this causes the user to use a bit more force to press down on the glass cover. Until someone can fully coat the glass with adhesive as the fully flat glass does, then all will suck. I bought the Verizon Full coverage glass and it's the same...bad touch sensitivity!
