Hi Guys,
I just rooted my Motorola XT910 using Root Master & rooted it successfully. I tried to install cwm on it using bootstrap method but that method caused a error 'Encryption Unsuccessful'. I searched some forums and solved that issue by using RSD Flashing Method. So, is there another way to put custom recovery in it so that flashing of custom rom in it will also possible.
Please Help..

I have a xt912 and use Safe Strap. I believe it works on the 910. It's great! I'd routinely load 2 to 3 ROMs at any one time.

The umts spyder roms & safestrap is for your xt910.
Do not use the spyder versions for the xt912.
Here is link for latest safestrap v3.75 for xt910.

I have a rooted razr, with safestrap installed. Is there a way to use cwm recovery instead? I see that you can install cwm using bootstrap, but everyone seems to like safestrap better. well from what i have read. Any input would be great.
Thanks

Safestrap.
look at the back of ur phone. if it says XT912 (it's CDMA) use SafeStrap.
if it says XT910 (it's GSM) use BootStrap.

He's just saying that safestrap is safer.

Why would one be more safer then the other? I installed CWT (ClockworkMod Touch) before hearing about Safestrap, should I install safestrap and forget CWT? I much prefer CWT to anything else I've ever used... But I will stick with whatever is recommended
Safestrap
I have used both Bootstrap and Safestrap. I prefer Bootstrap, because it doesn't show up at the beginning of a boot up. If you want to get into the recovery, then you go to the app and select too. Right now i am using Safestrap v2.
A while back I rooted and installed safestrap recovery on my razr but never got around to installing a custom ics rom, and now my phone is unable to update to ics. So basically all I need is a little help getting pointed in the right direction to getting ICS on my razr.
Do you have xt912 or xt910?
With the xt910 (gsm) you can rsd lite with ics fastboot or update.zip
Evening you need can be found in the development section

Just like marconz said, I would recommend that you upgrade it using any fastboot images for your device, found here.
Please note that for most fastboot firmwares, you won't be able to downgrade your phone after upgrading it.

[Recovery] Razr ClockWorkMod Touch 5.8.4.5 Black Edition [Updated] [07/23/2012]
But this recovery probably works only wit MIUI rom, that's the only one completely usefull rom for RAZR.

You can install CWM but 98% of the ROMs for the Razr are all Safestrap based. You would basically be putting yourself on an island with a few dudes and little food

Hey guys so ive got a couple questions on installing roms. 1st will safe strap install all roms? Should i use cwm? Thanks in advance

Safe strap can be used for most ROMs.... the new ones in particular.... its the safest recovery mode .... very good

Use what the Dev of the rom you want to install suggests. If you decide to change roms, you may have to change recovery method. Always go with what Dev says unless you are an advanced user.
