[Q] Gallery Shortcut error in stock Camera - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have a quick question. I recently got a SGS3
And I'm trying to get rid of the extra Samsung apps by uninstalling them or turning them off.
I wanted to use the Photos app from google instead of the Samsung Gallery app.
I checked the defaults and there was nothing to clear...I turned the gallery app off.
But when I try to click on the photo shortcut in the camera app.
It doesn't open the Photos app but gives me an error and directs me to the turned off gallery app.
Check the attachments.
What to do? What am I doing wrong?
How can I solve this issue?

You've turned off the stock gallery app, turn it back on.
Replacing the stock app is possible, but I would not recommend you attempt it until you have more knowledge.

Stock camera goes only with stock gallery, that's it

The Gallery App that is loaded using that method seems to show Picasa albums by default. I know normally that you can go into your Account and Sync settings to turn that off, but I cant seem to find those options on the Nook Tablet. Any ideas on how to disable the online Picasa Albums? Could I just, somehow, remove Picasa all together? In the meantime I have been using QuickPic, but was just curious about the default Gallery App.

A question about the photo gallery [SOLVED]

Hi all,
since yesterday I'm also an extremely happy owner of the Samsung Galaxy SIII and I was wondering about a thing.
In the settings I've already removed the checkbox regarding the syncing of Picasa Web photos however they still appear on the gallery.
The only way to remove them is by changing the view to local only but in that case The facebook photos don't appear either.
Is there any way to do remove them but show all photos except Picasa Web?
I had a similar issue on my G Nex, try this. Once you have all the syncs turned off, go into settings >> apps and clear data on both Gallery and Google+ (if G+ is installed). That should do it.
Deleting the cache of the gallery did the trick! Thanks!

[Q] Share option (Picasa)

Okay, after taking a picture, when in the gallery, it gives you numerous options to share the photo, like text message, gmail, email, facebook, picasa, google+
for some reason, the "picasa" share option doesn't work. this is what i want to use cause i can get a url for a picture the fastest way.
when i choose to upload, after i set a name for the photo, i get "failed to retrieve account information" and it exits.
does anyone know why this doesn't work?
bump
Hi, just tested it and its working here no problem.
Hmmm, it was initially working on my vibrant, and then at one point I remember it stopped working. I'm not sure why it stopped working on my vibrant, but that carried over to my new phone. my picasa albums are syncing perfectly fine in my gallery though.
Try to uninstall drop box if you have it installed. It used to be an issue in the past. Drop box stopped Picasa.

[Q] 3rd party gallery apps can't share MMS?

I searched and couldn't find any other discussion of this.
I use QuickPic because it has always been way better than the built-in gallery app, but I noticed that on my DNA I don't get the "messaging" option when I hit the QuickPic share button. I can share via facebook, gmail, and about 6 or 7 others, but not via messaging or mms.
I then tried a few other gallery apps on the play store with the same result -- messaging is not an option when I try to share a pic.
It works fine if I use the built-in Gallery app.
Is there a fix for this or is this a limitation of sense or gb?
Thanks!
I noticed this as well, I'm presuming this is due to Sense as it worked fine on my Galaxy Nexus.
It sucks not being able to send photo's from facebook via text. Anyone found a solution to this problem?

QuickPic - default picture viewer, troubleshooting, stock android 4.1.2

On my S3 mini with stock 4.1.2, I've uninstalled the stock gallery application (SecGallery2.apk) and replaced it with QuickPic. Everything is working great except two things:
when I'm tryin' to set a picture as a contact photo (Phone->Contact->Contact Photo -> Image), I get a toast which says "No pictures are available on the phone";
when I'm using stock camera application, when I want to browse the pictures on my phone using the button link, the camera application cease to function and I get an error message "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped".
It seems that "contacts" and "camera" applications are not aware of QuickPic presence or there isn't a bound between those three apps. I want to use QuickPic to set a custom contact photo or browse my pictures, directly from "contacts" and "camera" applications. What should I do?
