PIM Backup v2.8(Release date 20 Jan 2008)
- fix for keeping old files when value is 10 (schedule options)
- fix for subfolders having same name as folders under root (messages restore)
- fix for the delimiter selection when restoring contacts from csv file (contacts mapping fields)
- fix for "add only new messages" when restoring binary backup (messages restore)
more infos on www.dotfred.net
TODO:
MMS Backup/restore doesn't work!
- fix problem with mms "attachments" which are stored on disk but are not considered as attachments in the cemail.vol (wonderful!)
Arcsoft MMS software uses own-defined properties (blobs) in pmailMsgs table in cemail.vol but I cannot decipher them for the moment.
- conversion of text backups <-> binary backups
Version 2.7:
In 2.6, the backup/restore thread priority has been diminished so it took less resources during the task, and so other programs could continue to work properly. The problem is that a backup/restore task could take much more time to end. This has been changed by adding this feature as parameter, and so it can be changed manually by the user.
Version 2.6:
- fix bug in binary restore of contacts (birthday overwritten by anniversary)
- fix bug in binary/text restore of appointments (status, reminder not correct)
- fix bug in zip utility => unicode compliant
- fix bug in restore of tasks (wm2003se only) for (partially) undated tasks
- fix bug in restore of messages (only messages from an unknown account are discarded)
- fix bug in csv contacts import (csv coming from another application)
- fix bug in restore of speed dials (wm6 only)
- added restore custom files individual selection
Version 2.5:
- fix bug in binary backup of appointments containing recipients
- fix bug in binary/text custom files backup
- added rename old file option in custom file restore
Version 2.4:
- fix a crash bug during restore of a text backup for messages having no
subject
- fix a bug in scheduled backup
- add one instance only
Version 2.3:
- fix for notes in wm2k3
- add more error messages in case of backup/restore failure
Version 2.2:
- fix for messages backup problem that causes wm2k3 pda's to soft-reset
- fix for custom files not found in list in csx backup file
Version 2.1:
- fixed bug introduced in hex fields in text backup in v2.0
- add a custom backup functionality for specific files, folders or file types.
- changed some cosmetic things in the layouts
- fixed some minor bugs
- fixed bug in binary task binary backup
Version 2.0:
- added escape character in text, so the parsing of csv text works in all cases.
CAUTION, a bad parsing can still appear for backups made in earlier versions.
- added binary backups for fastness and reliability. (A tool will be provided in the future to allow to convert text backups to binary backups and vice-versa).
- schedule problem fixed.
- added UNC folders names for default folders (inbox, outbox, sent items, drafts, deleted items) in messages, so the restore could be done on a device having another language.
- fixed the problem of messages stored in folders at the same level as Inbox
- creation of temporary backup files can be either in memory or in the backup destination folder.
Version 1.9:
- fix bug in all day recurring appointments restore
- fix bug in non recurring tasks restore
- restore for "add only new..." option should go faster
- remove empty files from \Windows\Messaging
Version 1.8:
- fix problem of lost records (csv parser has been redesigned)
ADVICE: In WM6 if you have to restore call logs, do it separately especially if you have a lot of them, because cprog.exe (phone application) will take all the cpu to rebuild the links between contacts and calls, so this is not good for the rest of the restore.
Version 1.7:
- fix for crashing bug during restore of contacts or messages
Version 1.6:
- Yomi included for contacts (not tested, need confirmation on this)
- fix for call logs in WM6 (allynm)
- fix appointments load (leo ramik)
- fix problem for messages load (same as appts)
- fix csv parser bug (last one, I hope)
- fix problem with speeddials restore (WM6 only) (it is slow, but it works) (work around provided by dan1967 (thanks!))
- fix for appts restore (_vint)
Version 1.5:
- fix toolbar bug (wm2003se only)
- fix sms backup bug (wm2003se only) (carolos)
- fix schedule bug (ebliss)
- fix birthday bug in contacts (gambit999)
- fix csv parser bug (exel07)
Version 1.4:
- fix a bug found in backup/restore of messages in WM2003SE (choas)
- fix a bug concerning exclusions of folders in backup of messages (faria)
Version 1.3:
- fix a bug found in restore of call logs backup under WM6 (backup made on WM6 only) (faria)
Version 1.2:
- fix a bug found when handling unicode files with chinese character set (Sipher)
Version 1.1:
- fix a bug in CSV parser (borjok536)
- added option verbose in main menu (allynm) (the status list is less updated without verbose)
- added SystemIdleTimerReset to avoid that the pda is suspended during the backup/restore process
Description:
This tool has been made in order to replace the PPCBckpContacts application.
As its predecessor, PPCPimBackup allows to backup/restore the Personal information of the pocket pc user, but new functionalities have been added.
This tool allows to backup/restore:
- appointments
- call logs
- contacts
- messages (SMS, Mails, ...) NEW !!!
- speed dials
- tasks
Restore contacts:
It is possible now to restore a text file containing contacts backed up from other applications, like in Outlook Express, the only constraint is that the first line should contain the fields and the fields need a separator. (See screenshots). The tool allows to map default fields to fields found in the file. It is possible now to insert duplicates.
Backup messages:
The mail database is completely parsed to retrieve all the messages stored in every directory and subdirectory. It is possible to select which account and directories should be backed up. You can save attachments as wel if they exist on the pocket pc.
Restore messages:
Same as the backup, you can select which account and directories should be restored to the device. Caution, if an account doesn't exist on the pocket pc, this application will discard the messages that belong to that account.
Restore appointments:
There was a bug in PPCBckpContacts where appointments with the same name on different dates weren't restored. This should be fixed in this tool.
Schedule backup:
It is possible to schedule a backup, each day of the week and this at a specific hour. If the pocket pc is suspended, it will wake up and do the backup. You can eventually control the number of backups to keep and switch off the pocket pc after the scheduled backup is finished.
The schedule backup creates a notification that can be cleared via the Options Menu.
File types:
There is only one file type now, which is .pib (Personal Information Backup), in fact it is just a zip file (so you can open it with a zip application) which contain the different text files used in PPCBckpContacts, so you can still extract these files, edit them on a pc using Excel or Notepad and eventually restore them without putting them back in the .pib file.
This is the first release, it has been tested on WM4.2, WM5 and WM6.
Comments, bugs, suggestions are welcome.
Yours sincerly,
.Fred

I just hope this will finally allow me to move from one aku version to another without installing M$ Outlook
Tx for your effort m8
PS:
Did you manage to reproduce the "different versions in same device" error?
Another great tool. Thanks. Even contact pictures were restored.
BTW. My pim.vol was reduced in size: 788kb => 508kb (restore into empty pim.vol). The reason is clean and fair.
Thanks again.
I'm still having a problem with appointments and not sure if it's caused by your program or another one of M$ "gifts". The error is that appointments with never ending patterns don't appear after the actual day although the data in each appointment is correct
Suggestion
1. Consider backup/restore program settings.
2. Command line switch -AutoRestore dirName would be nice. This should restore everything from the latest backup from specified directory. Restoration process should be aborted if one/any/all databases are not empty - to avoid accidentally use. This command line switch could be used during autorun after hard reset. I think -AutoRestore should copy program itself somewhere into main memory to allow scheduled backups (if settings would be restored too) - storage card is not alway inserted into PPC.
It even works on my T-Mobile SDA WM5.0 Smartphone except for the options part( i cannot uncheck the boxes)

you can use SPHelper or any other similar app that simulates a cursor on your SP. I find those apps really useful hen trying to run PPC apps on SPs.

I will take a look, honestly I didn't go into deep testing for appointments...

Thanks for the tip oh GREAT ONE
@FRED thanks for this freeware.
Does that mean that,
1. PIM Backup from AKU3.x can be use in WM6?
2. PIM Backup from AKU2.x can be use in AKU3.x?
3. PIM Backup from WM5 can be use in WM6?
4. PIM Backup from WM2003SE can be use in WM6?
5. PIM Backup from WM2003SE can be use in WM5?
6. Any missed combinations?
Thanks for PIM backup..
Looks like a neat lil piece of software.
I'm looking to ug from Wm5 to WM6, but I don't want to retain any old useless data that may conflict with the new O.S.
Is is possible to only back-up & restore just the MMS? or is it all messages and email?
Thanks
Can I use this to backup non-Treo SMS and restore to Treo 750v?
This is most excellent, I have a few suggestions / questions:
- when backing up LARGE groups of data, it seems more effort goes to updating the list box than actually reading the data. (i switched to another application and came back to find it was going 2x when not having to refresh the list). also, the list slows considerably when passing 1000 entries for any particular type of data.
- the device (tytn) is allowed to power down during the backup - user has to keep hitting the screen to keep it alive.
- how does restoring work? is everything overwritten? are duplicate entries avoided? what if the restore is from a .pib that has been modified (multiple backups merged)? can several .pib files be restored with the end result of all data being merged on the device (say each covered a range of dates - no overlap)? what if there is overlap - do you end up with duplicates?
- is there some way to take a pim.vol (on the pc) and convert it to a .pib?
i'm trying to figure out how to merge the incremental backups i've made with SPB during each of my ROM upgrades. i've used SpbBackupUnpack.exe to extract the SPB images on the pc, and there are some txt files within the /Databases/cemail.vol folder of the extracted backup, but these are not .csv files, and there appears to be no easy method to convert them over.
i do have the pim.vol from each backup, but i've had no luck attempting to overwrite the existing one with the old one (in an attempt to then make a .pib within the device).
sms restore problem

It should work indeed. I don't have a WM2003SE device, only the emulator.
So I've tested only a part of these combinations.
Don't forget that in WM2003SE, the picture is not stored.
You are here guys to test those functionalities!

Hi borjok536,
Don't worry about the version, it is nothing to do with your problem.
I developed a CSV parser, and it's surely not perfect. This error means, that at line 17, the parser found a mismatch and couldn't retrieve the record with all its fields.
Here is the layout of the messages csv file:
Msg Id;Sender Name;Sender Address;Sender AddressType;Prefix;Subject;Body;BodyType;Folder;Account;Msg Class;Content Length;Msg Size;Msg Flags;Msg Status;Modify Time;Delivery Time;Recipient Nbr;Recipients;Attachment Nbr;Attachments
If a field contains a [CR], a [LF], a [CRLF], a [;], a [,], a["], it will be stored between double quotes.
For instance:
Code:
"Hello James,
How are you?
Did you get my message?";""Fred" <+12345678>";
Here the parser will find 2 fields and will keep them like this:
Field 1:
Code:
Hello James,
How are you?
Did you get my message?
Field 2:
Code:
"Fred" <+12345678>
Cheers,
.Fred
sorry dnt get it...
can this be fixed in the next version? thanks for creating this software for us.....

You need to either use the smallest gapps package available or repartition to a bigger /system.
You can try wiping /system, then installing the rom and small gapps(for example the arm;5.1;pico from HERE)
Or follow the steps from HERE to increase your system partition

thanks for your help, installing pico gapps worked for me :good:
the reason for that you trying to install all Gaps package which is not possible for your device according to space calculation
To fix this problem do these steps
1-create text file and name it ( gaps-config)
2-add these lines
Exclude Books
Exclude Chrome
Exclude CloudPrint
Exclude Docs
Exclude Earth
Exclude ExchangeGoogle
Exclude Slides
Exclude Sheets
Exclude NewsWidget
Exclude PlayGames
Exclude Keep
Exclude Hangouts
Exclude Fitness
then save the text file in the same gaps.zip file directory
3-now flash the gaps and done..
note you can exclude more aps or include other as you want as long as you had the space requirements .
i just downloaded only one Gaps package which is the full package , and then i customize which app to include or exclude and here is my review related to this error ( skip to 13 minute )

I could not get rid of the "error 70" which always told me, I got insufficient system partition size, even after rePITting it to 3GB.
So I packed my own tiny thing for Marshmallow 6.0 and up. Hopefully it will help you guys also.

Hopefully those gapps work and thank you for posting them.
But when you re-pitted, you probably only changed the /data partition and not the /system partition
It's all explained in at least two OP's(CM13 and Mokee MM) as well as this guide
Install diskinfo app from the store to check your partition sizes
Please note: The package I linked above was only working for few minutes for me, but then the play store began instantly to close after launching...... again and again and neverending. So, be warned!
I tried "I9100_3GB data - 45mb preload.pit" aswell as "I9100_4GB data - 45mb preload.pit". The system partition gets enhanced by adding the preload partition, except those 45mb, and shrinking the data partition. So, I am pretty sure my 800mb system partition which I had before icreased to 3gb while data gone from somewhat with 12gb to somewhat with 10gb.
But anyway, if I am missing any point I will have a look at this diskinfo app to get from "pretty sure" to "absolutley sure".
Any ideas left? Someone? Verflixter Mist.....
Cheers
I tried all gapps package I could find without any succes.
@Truhse
As I said, you are enlarging /data with those pit files.
Go HERE and use a pit file with I91001GB_xGB.pit in the name
The 1GB is the /system, the xGB is the /data. Some of the pit files available(such as the ones you have used) were made purely to install more apps to /data(ie from the store), before there was a need to enlarge the /system for rom and gapps
I have the same issue with CM13snapshot on Xiaomi Mi3w. I can install pico gapps but not stock one. Settings wizzard and google apps keeps crashing even with pico.
@noppy22: you were correct. it seems that I extracted the wrong PIT-file and rushed to fast through the flashing process, I even did not noticed the mess I made afterwards. I was so sure, the PIT-file was the right one.... dunno why.
Sorry. Now, everything is nice with 1GB for my system and 3GB for my apps.

Hi guys, I also have the same error even i have checked i'v got 555MB free space in system (1GB total)
---------- Post added at 08:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:17 PM ----------
Now i'm thinking that stock gapps are to large even for 1GB of system storage. Try use smaller. It worked for me. What's more make factory reset after installing or install it just after soft in order to optimize apps.
Solution!!!
Opengapps is highly customizable. You can put a .gapps-config file in the same folder as the pico zip, with commands to control what it installs and also to remove some stock apps to make room. So just now I had one with these lines:
Code:
# stock removals
Browser
CMAccount
CMUpdater
Email
ExchangeStock

Hi all
I earlier filed an issue at github/XPrivacy, issue 2253:
| I've been using XPrivacy for a few years, but this issue is new, possibly triggered to an update to the latest
| version.
|
| I found that my calendar has stopped showing any entries, and then I noticed that the Exchange account has
| disappeared. Eventually, I managed to track the problem down do XPrivacy.
|
| With XPrivacy disabled/removed, I am able to create an Exchange account and use it normally.
| From there, after installing/enabling XPrivacy and rebooting, the Exchange account has disappeared (and
| doesn't come back after removing/disabling XPrivcay).
| Trying to set up the Exchange account with XPrivacy enabled, there's a message that Exchange services have
| stopped before setup is complete.
|
| I'm not sure there are any settings I could change because the software only shows restrictions for user apps,
| not system apps.
|
| Android version 4.3 (latest available for device)
| Device Sony Xperia SP (C5303)
| XPosed Framework app_process 58/XposedBridge.jar 54
| XPrivacy 3.6.19
to which I received the following response by M66B:
| I am quite sure this is not caused by a bug but by a restriction.
| I don't know which one, however.
| Your best bet is to ask for help in the XDA XPrivacy forum.
So I hope I found the correct forum.
Thanks.

to which I received the following response by M66B:
| I am quite sure this is not caused by a bug but by a restriction.
| I don't know which one, however.
| Your best bet is to ask for help in the XDA XPrivacy forum.
So I hope I found the correct forum.
Thanks.

@john257
I'm having a similar problem, but do not use XPrivacy: still, my exchange account is being deleted.
My question to you is: how did you track down who/what is deleting your account? I can't figure it out on my end, and am going crazy trying to make sense of this.
Thanks for yout time!
@ricarva
I figured it must be one of the security related apps, and there aren't that many installed. Also remembered that I updated XPrivacy just a few days ago.
Sony will not release any updates for this phone, so no change in the OS.
SGFiles and SGFilesPro.
Compatible from Android 6.0.1 in forward.

SGFiles solves comfortably the problem of the message that goes out for us in the mobile periodically: " LITTLE SPACE OF STORAGE ". Liberate space.
Or it provides comfort to us at the moment of treating our files: IMAGES, etc, erasing or moving. As well as to move to the Card SD (external memory; microSD). Instead of being entering 10 folders and managing, with SGFiles it assembles in the alone one all the files to manage them easier (I marry To move). Or we eliminate in few clicks it of these 10 folders. Winning time in both cases.
SGFiles has the necessary interface TO CREATE TASKS that facilitate the labor to us.
What is a "TASK"?:
A task can be a folder where we receive constant PHOTOS ó VIDEOES ó GIFS ó DOCUMENTS, etc.
If we have 4 folders (PHOTOS, VIDEOES, GIFS, DOCUMENTS), we will create 4 tasks, for example.
To create a task is very simple:
Go to the eyelash TO CREATE.
1.-Put a Name: Images or Videoes, etc.
2.-To choose an Origin: to erase (in this case to mark the button To erase) or to move.
3.-To choose a Destination: to where we want to move.
4.-To give in Creating task. ONCE CREATED THE TASKS (free version only 1 task, version pro (SGFilesPro): we eliminate the limit), ONLY IT IS NECESSARY TO GO TO THE EYELASH LIBERATE, to make it manual or To programming (To programme to move automatically: only available in the version pro) in order that it is realized without our intervention once we have programmed it. For safety, the paragraph of Programming only will be able to move files.
A. - I INITIATE:
1.-To manage tasks. The created tasks are seen in this paragraph, where we can edit to modify or to erase the task.
2.-It Copies of tasks. Give in the paragraph of Copy of tasks in Doing safety copy. This copy Storage guards in the internal Storage in the folder interno/SGFiles/com.sgfiles.sergad.backup/
3.-To personalize. It will be able to change the aspect of the application. Only available in SGFilesPro.
4.-Usefulness. - Files - - Images - - Videoes. - - Audio - - To see space of storage - - included applications To show system - - Adjustments of the application-. BEGINNING - Usefulness. To have it accessible in the same space, without having to look for it for the mobile. The 3 last ones only available in SGFilesPro.
5.-Instructions. If it has some doubt it can consult this paragraph.
6.-Cloud. I access to different applications that allow storage in the cloud. The only aim is to have it more to hand.
7. - To programme. Once it has created all his tasks, mark the día/s that he wishes and the hour and later it gives in Guarding automatic task. SGFiles reads the tasks created with the Origin and the Destination and moves the files of automatic form without the user should worry nor be hanging. Only available in SGFilesPro.
B. - TO CREATE: IT IS WHERE I KNOW MUST BEGIN TO CREATE THE TASKS mentioned previously like: (PHOTOS, VIDEOES, GIFS, DOCUMENTS, etc.).
Only it must put a name. To choose an Origin and a Destination.
The first time, after giving in Origin, probably should pulsate in 3 points that exist above to the right of the window that goes out for him and to give in showing internal Storage or Card SD.
Pulsate then in 3 lines that exist above to the left side and to select internal Storage or Card SD.
Between in the folder wherefrom It wants To erase or To move files and of in SELECTING, that is below to right hand.
If only it is To erase, later mark the button To erase and give in CREATING TASK.
If it is a task of Moving, pulsate in Destination, select internal Storage or Card SD, between in the folder where it wants to move the files, and with the button To move marked, pulsate in CREATING TASK.
The application also will warn him if it has files to move the SD.
REMEMBER: SGFiles WILL MAKE HIM WIN TIME.

Hello everyone:
I want to share my application: SGFilesPro, that is, in its FULL VERSION.
With one caveat: functional up to and including Android 9. Valid for: Android 6, 7, 8 and 9.
To work with the official version (which is updated and works from Android 10 onwards), uploaded to the Play Store: click on the button with a red background shown on the main screen, redirect us, click on " Uninstall ”, and click on the one to the right to purchase it.
From Android 10 onwards, the App that I share, when opening it, it will only show us a message to redirect us to the Play Store by clicking on the message.
Only the official version of the Play Store receives updates, this apk (App) that I share will not be updated or updated.
And what is or what does this application do?
It is mainly used to delete or move files, with one difference: in a few clicks I have deleted or moved the contents of many folders.
1.- Delete everything in a few clicks, because we don't want to save anything.
2.- Move everything to a single folder in internal memory or external memory: I see everything in one folder, except for another that interests me, and I delete what is left over. I don't have to be going into 10, 15, 20 directories (folders) to check what I have.
3.- Recover space by deleting disposable files: I have recovered 2 GB.
As soon as it rises again, we remove and that's it.
Or I don't need to recover space because my mobile is of the latest generation with 1 TB of storage, but I need to have an order with my files: that's why we move everything to a single folder and delete what I don't need.
4.- I can program the day/s time at which I want everything to move automatically to the microSD or external card. As well as the internal memory if I do not have a microSD.
5.- I have a cloud and I use it a lot. But…, we don't want to upload it all, do we?
If at least I have it organized (I have eliminated the leftover),
I can synchronize a folder with what interests me so that it is automatically uploaded.
6.- EXTRACT APPS: yes, yes, it is possible to extract the apps that you have installed on your mobile (those of the system do not), in order to have a copy.
7.- Other functionalities. More information on the Play Store, searching for SGFilesPro.
There is no excuse for not using this App.
I hope it is useful to you and if you find it useful, uninstall when you have thoroughly tested it and install it from the Play Store.
The application has a section to join the Telegram chat where details can be clarified, as well as links to other social networks from which possible doubts can also be raised and solutions given.
If you want to share with someone, you just have to copy the Dropbox, Mega o Drive link and paste it in that person's chat.

** SGFilesPro from Play Store **
- IMPORTANT UPDATE -
The system stopped processes when moving files, in the following sections:
* Backup or Move to microSD
* Easy release
Automatic move was not affected by having the appropriate code implemented.
* In those mentioned, when consuming RAM or resources the system stopped it if it needed to recover RAM.
* This I have already solved.
* Now the system cannot stop it.
* Among other things because these processes do not consume RAM memory or resources.
* Naturally this is more pronounced in devices with less resources.
Consumption control in Apps was introduced from Android 8 (previous versions do not have this problem).
--------------- ALREADY UPDATE ---------------
** SGFilesPro from Play Store **
IN THE PRO VERSION OF THE PLAY STORE:
If when you give to move, etc., it did not work the first time, it would be necessary to click on the REFRESH button of the App to make it work and move files. This would only be necessary the first time, successive times not.
Last night I upgraded My Realme 7 pro from Android 10 (Realme UI 1) to Android 12 (Realme UI 3.0).
Now the problems I'm facing :-
Whatsapp Folder moved to %internal%/Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp; After upgrading Whatsapp shows that there are no media files (Documents, Audio, Video, Photos). A new option pops up (Migrate Media for Android 11+). Select it, select old WhatsApp Folder (%internal%/WhatsApp). It took 6 hours to migrate all media (14.6 GB total), on top of that it changed all media files creation date to "Today", so now I cant sort by date/time.
I used to have ".nomedia" file in whatsapp "Media" folder so nothing was shown in any photo viewer app (any gallery app), after migrating I noticed everything is shown in gallery. Created .nomedia in "%internal%/Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Media" and it got deleted instantly. Cant create .nomedia in Media folder.
List of folders which can be hidden by .nomedia:-
1. Media/.Links
2. Media/.Statuses
3. Media/Private
4. Media/Wallpaper
5. Media/WhatsApp Animated Gifs
6. Media/WhatsApp Profile Photos
7. Media/WhatsApp Stickers
8. Any "Private" and "Sent" folders
List of folders which CANNOT be hidden by .nomedia (.nomedia file is deleted instantly, just like Android "Downloads" folder)
1. Media
2. Media/WhatsApp Audio
3. Media/WhatsApp Documents
4. Media/WhatsApp Images
5. Media/WhatsApp Video
6. Media/WhatsApp Voice Notes
Does someone know any workaround for this. I tried 3 different file managers (Files (Stock android), Files by Google, MiXplorer). Tried copying .nomedia from other folders - does not work. Tried creating .nomedia - does not work. Tried a few gallery apps to hide folders - does not work. I can only exclude these folders in some gallery apps from scanning, but it still visible in all other gallery or file managers (Files by Google shows "WhatsApp Images/Videos" on the first screen).
I know its not WhatsApp problem. It was working yesterday on Android 10.
I'm willing to root my phone if necessary.
