Need some help for my gs3 usb port - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Here comes the problem. I have gs3 with usb port not working. I completely removed all the data from gs3 (which was totally dumb ass thing I did) so my gs3 does not boot up. So I want to get help from someone knows about how to port OS either CWM without usb or how to connect usb wire direct to gs3 motherboard. I can solder so no need to worry about that. i really need help for this so please help me. Sorry for the bad eng tho.

HELP Bricked x10 and computer can't read it

Hi guys,
I recently bricked my X10a and have been having problems trying to connect it to my pc. I can get it into flash mode and connect it to my pc but when its plugged into my computer, FlashTool can't detect it and my computer can't either. Is there anyway I can check? if I have the proper drives? Also if I don't have it is there a way to download it? Thx in advanced.
Btw I'm using my freinds HTC G2 USB cable to connect it to my pc. Could this be effecting it? Do I need the official sony ericsson USB EP700? Thx for this as well.
Running windows vista home basic 32-bit
do you have seus the sony ericsson program on your computer?
I believe that will help you get the proper drivers when you install it.
its on the sony ericsson website under downloads.

Use SEUS i have the same and it helped me
I tried using seus but it won't read my phone at all. Unless I have a broken USB port on my phone It can charge but not connect to my computer.
Are you using a USB hub?
It's straight into my computer. Idk whats going on :\
Do you have a firewall or something similar installed? It might interfere with the connection if you have the firewall settings set to very high. Might need to specifically set permissions for it to have seus and the drivers run...
After doing some research I'm almost certain it is the cable. This cable is the official one from HTC and on further reading it says only compatible with HTC phones. But thank's for the help guys. I'm gonna but a new SE USB cable and hope it turns out good. I'll be back if anything goes amiss.
Come on... Tired to read "I bricked my x10" when you have 1% to really brick it, is this so hard to use correct words ??????????
Bricking is non-sense in x10, even with custom kernels... PSP CAN be bricked, a "real" brick, not x10.
It looks many people is new to this, there's no problem but it's very boring to read sensefull words for everything... These people definitely didn't live the period bricking was meaning something.

Bricking in the x10 world is the bootloop. When our bootloader gets cracked the meaning of it will change.

I agree, but bootloop is no way a brick.
Misunderstanding dogs and cats is pretty weird
Hopefully with loader hack we will give indeed a much more realistic meaning to what bricking is
I also learned that the hard way i guess.

No, you just need a plain USB cable. I have both the X10 and the HTC HD2 and I use the same USB cables between the two. No issues.
Hey! its hard to brick an X10.. maybe you have a lower battery problem. try to charge it fully with an a universal charger or another X10. and use another desktop,USB port. the cable must be an a micro USB only. its doesen matter if the cable comes from an HTC, Nokia or other device, it shoud work Remember the drivers.. hope it helps! [Q] [HELP] real trouble with SGSII

my girlfriend has the GSII and for about a week now it keep randomly saying its connected to the usb when we are clearly nowhere near any cables at all today it has been saying in the top left corner that it is 100% charged whilst on the right hand battery symbol clearly says around 75% we have tried charging with a different charger, usb and usb adapter as it randomly turns off and looking online it says that it could be related to a "cooked" battery . when turning on it flashed a big battery symbol followed by a yellow triangle and a thermometer, so we bought a new battery charged it up (using a separate phone that we know works fine) but with no luck we still have the same problem ..... its on the o2 network in the uk running 2.3.6 i think but is definatly GB STOCK any help or advice would be greatly apperciated as we are at the end of our knowledge and the phone is only 2 months old and last time she sent a phone to be repaired it came back in a worse state than it went in
sorry if this is in wrong section or if it is a duplicated post
Sounds like a dirty USB port. Try cleaning it.
have used almost a whole can of air cleaning everywhere i can possibly get to i think its cleaner now than when it was new haha
Canned air may not help. There could be something stuck on the little board inside the port that is shorting some of the pins.
Try a dry toothbrush first.
If that doesn't work try (with battery out, then let dry when done before putting battery back in) rubbing alcohol on a q-tip or something similar.

it is strange that doing data facrory reset bricked a phone.... I have done it countlessly.... it will bring your phone to the same status of the phone when you purchased...no harm. just to try only but chance is less..I dont think it will help you as ctomgee told if it sound like a hardware issue, software reset wont make any difference

would that affect the charge and usb etc ?
im just wondering if its the usb shorting and making the usb mount option function incorrectly i.e when there is no cable plugged in
sorry im not 100% on what things are called although i do try to learn as much as possible about these things
ok have tried with no luck guessing the only thing left is sending it for repairs and just hoping that it comes back fixed and un-damaged unlike the last phone that had to be sent away
it's usb board is propably busted, but you should get new one thanks to warranty
Sent from my sgs2 running cm9 using xda app
looks like it is the usb board so i think its going to have to go off for repairs id do it myself but it looks far to fiddly and i don't want to void any warranty just in-case i do something wrong
cheers for your help trouble shooting this guys
hope this may help others out too

[Q] Soft Brick and USB issues

So a little history, I flashed my vibrant from Bionix v1.3.1 (fishmanmod) to ICS and started to have a lot of troubles with random restarts and battery issues. Prior to ICS everything was perfect. I've tried so many different versions of ICS and all of them have resulted in random shut downs. The most recent one I tried was Slim ICS. After having such bad luck with ICS roms I decided to go back to Bionix. However my phone now cannot be recognized by my computer which was weird because it did when I flashed it back to stock to install ICS cleanly. I tried various different drivers, uninstalled, reinstalled kies, almost everything I thought of. So then I was like okay, I'll just go back to a nandroid backup of Bionix. Stupid idea, should have read up more on that as it softbricked my phone. Now I'm stuck with a phone that stays on the Vibrant screen. I can get it into download mode with holding vol+ and power but that is no use because windows keeps saying it cannot recognize my device. I can't get it to recovery mode either to flash any roms I have on the phone. It might be a hardware issue because my mothers vibrant gets detected with the same drivers but just a couple of days ago I flashed my phone back to stock with odin which really confuses me. Does anyone have any ideas I could do? Is there a way to get into recovery mode to flash different roms? Is there a manual way of installing the drivers or surefire way of knowing if the vibrant has hardware issues?
Also when I flashed back to stock with odin it did take a good hour of installing and reinstalling drivers for my computer to recognize it in download mode. I've tried 3 different cables, one by samsung and the other two are third party. All these cables work on my mother's vibrant. I've also tried a different computer as well, no luck.
Try deleting ALL USB drivers from your PC and plug in the phone. It should automatically search and download drivers. If that doesn't work then its most likely something to do with the USB cable. I recently soft bricked my vibrant too and my USB would not work at all but it worked fine on a friends phone(weird). So I bought a new one from T-Mobile themselves and it worked! I was really close to believing I had a bad USB port on my phone,if a new cable doesn't work that could be the issue for you. There are a few places online that will replace your USB port on the phone for around 40 bucks, a new USB cable from T-Mobile will cost around $15.
PS: You can search ADB reboot recovery but this will not work unless you can connect to the PC. I personally would buy a new cable from T-Mobile just to know if its a bad USB port on your phone.

Yeah I've read in another post about how someone bought a replacement cable from T-Mobile which fixed the problem. I find it weird how the stock samsung cable does not work yet the T-Mobile cable did. What makes the 15 dollar T-Mobile cable better? I'll definitely give it a shot though.

I'm not sure what makes it better to be honest, it's just one of those things where their cables work better. It is most definitely more durable than the stock cable that came with my phone. If you have a problem with Tmobile's USB cable not working then you most likely have a bad port on your phone(happens more than you might think). I feel like a new cable will solve your problem tho, let us know if it works!

So I bought the T-Mobile universal data cable in store for 12.99 and turns out it did not work. That's okay, they told me I could return in within 30 days to get a full refund. Now my only hope is to send it to someone who could repair it.
The phone can go into download mode, so hopefully once this usb port gets fixed I can finally get into odin. Thanks iTz KeeFy for the suggestion to try a different cable.

[Q] DNA problem, need some advice

So. I have had my DNA for like a year and a half. I have Viper DNA 2.5.0 installed and customized to my liking. I've been noticing a few little glitchy things here and there but for the most part the phone is functioning okay. Here's my problem. A few weeks ago I went to plug in the usb to charge and there must have been a little speck of dirt, gravel, or some of pocket debris and when i pushed in the connector it bent the pins inside the charge/data port. I have managed, using a pin, to straighten all of the pins except one which was beyond repair. I can plug in the cable and I can get it to charge but it will no longer be recognized by the computer. The damaged pin is one of the data signal pins so connection to the PC via usb is pretty much out.
Here's my question... Should I try to update my rom by wifi file transferring the latest viper DNA update file to the phone and then installing the zip in recovery? If anything goes wrong... i will not be able to connect the phone via USB to run any recovery options if things get boned up.
Is there a situation i could get myself into that not having a usb connection will totally leave me screwed?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,

If you accidentally wipe your storage and system there is no way to pick a rom without connecting to the computer. That's one potential problem I see. I also see that if your recovery gets messed up you can't use fastboot commands to flash a new one or wipe it's cache. So if it were me, I wouldn't risk it. You also can't ruu of something goes terribly wrong.

Thanks... I definitely see your point. I'll hold on as long as i can but current stability conditions may force me to pull the trigger.
I appreciate your advice.
now its more meesed up
Everything kept crashing on me so despite Jagggar's advice <sorry>, I downloaded the latest viper to the phone, rebooted into recovery and attempted to install it. I figured it would be minimal risk because I'm just updating an existing viper dna installation, not really installing something new or different.... well the aroma installer failed mid way. and when i rebooted, it just hung at white htc screen. Luckily I had a CW backup from before i installed viper on the phone in the first place. It was from Jan and attached is the SW version info. So now im stuck on this. I have root and CW Recovery installed. My major issue here is I have no USB connectivity and I want to make my phone current. I dont care what rom, stock, or whatever, i just want my DNA to not be several software revisions behind. Is there any method that should work? I can wifi file transfer anything to my phone, reboot into recovery and flash but that's about it. Thoughts?
Forgive my newb-ness, but i see posts about firmwares, basebands, radios etc... are updates to those things only done via a usb connection or are those things copyable/flashable? if yes, then shouldnt, in theory, i be able to do them?
thanks for your patients with me.

[Q] Want to root but have HUGE issue

So my sister has one of these phones and wants to trade it and tons of accessories to me for my current s3.. It works flawlessly, However it's biggest flaw is the charging port does not work. Not sure what's wrong with it, but it will not charge whena cord is plugged in, nor will the pc recognize the phone. I have to charge the battery in an external charge pack on the wall. That however is not an issue for everyday use. BUT i require root for alot of stuff i will be using the phone for. So my question is, is there ANY way to root this phone without odin? Considering odin will never recognize the phone due to the port being bad? If so can someone please point me in the right direction because i'd love to be able to swap her phones and start using the note. thanks in advance for any/all help.
Nope sorry. A PC connection is required to root the phone.

Since the charge port is messed up i suppose it's fixable..Does anyone know if the charge port out of a samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket would fit the galaxy note? cuz i have an extra skyrocket laying around for parts
The skyrocket and note 1 have similar hardware, but physical changes are unknown. I'm guessing they are different. Open them up and see!
I got a replacement usb port on eBay for 14 bucks. But the cellular signal wasn't as strong. It's a known issue when replacing usb ports.
