I'm using the official dock, and it's been charging for 4 hours, from 40% to 75% using supplied charger
This seems really crap. Is this normal? Is this a limitation of charging via the pins than the microusb port?
Nothing in the docs mentioned this limitation.
14 hours to fully , 1% every 8 minutes..
I don't have this issue with any of my docks or magnetic cables.
Sorted it. It was the USB extension cable i was using. Connecting it diectly to charger and it will do a full charge in 4 hours.

That's quite the misrepresentation made in the original post where you said you were using the oem dock and cabling etc - of course the extension cable can change charge times! Glad it got sorted.
I'm using quick-charge 2.0 charger and the charging rate is extremely fast. Almost 3000mah. voltage is 3.7. I started at 1% and in 3 min im at 7%

Hi,
Can you share which make and model charger are you using please? Would like to get one...
I am using the Sony supplied EP880 charger and Sony micro-usb cable - and in the past 1hr the battery has gone from 14% to 42% - i.e. 28% in 60mins = approx 0.5% a min - whereas you are getting 2% a min!
Many thanks!

It's from japan. From the carrier ntt docomo there. Bought it from ebay. If you're in the US you can also buy puregear charger or droid turbo. Any charger certified by qualcomm as quick charge 2.0

Thanks for the reply - will look out for that or other QC2.0 chargers.
In the end, the EP880 took 3.5 hours to charge from 14% to 99%. But then it took another 15-20mins for it to get to 100%!! And I was not using it during that time - just kept occasionally turning the screen on to check the charge level.

The charger it comes with is ****. You can get 2A chargers for about $5 from various places.
Are you using the stock charger? Overall all Galaxy devices charge horribly slow down

As he said, the stock charger does not seem to effectively charge the phone well - try using a different wall USB charger. I use an old blackberry one and it works great, and my girlfriend uses her iPhone charger with the same results.
I have a similar experience. When I am using the phone and must charge I like my HP Touchpad's wall charger which can charge slightly more than the phone uses. However I bought the Samsung desk charger with the spare battery and when the phone gets to 20-30% I just swap and charge the battery in the dock. FWIW I can get from 8- 35 hours on the batteries depending on use.

Just wondering if this iPad charger would harm the Note 3 if used. It is 2.1 amps 10 watts. It seems more powerful than the note 3. Just wanted to get an expert opinion. Thanks

should be fine. I've been using my girl friends ipad charger in the living room for weeks. according to my phone it's pulling 1800 mah from it, same as the original charger.
It won't damage the phone. The charger has a 2.1a maximum output. The phone will pull as much as it needs to charge. If you hook up a ten amp charger, it won't hurt the phone. The phone's circuitry was designed to use whatever amperage limit it was made for. If the phone only pulls 1.8a at full usage and charging, then that's all it's going to use. It's better to have a power supply with plenty of extra amperage output, at the same voltage, than a smaller output at same voltage.
---------- Post added at 02:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:12 AM ----------
Bigger amperage capacity is fine, but it needs to output the proper voltage for what you're using it on. For USB devices, it needs to be five volts DC. You could have a hundred amp power supply as long as its out put is 5vdc then you're fine. It doesn't shove 100 amps down the device's throat, if the device is using 5 amps then the power supply is only going to give it 5 amps.
Thanks for the helpful information! I really appreciate it.

Hello friends today I will tell you how u can charge your note 2 very fast.. As we all know note 2 takes quite a long time to charge.. So I will tell u a simple trick to charge your note 2 faster than ever...
What u have to do just replace your Samsung's data cable to nokia's data cable.. now many people will ask me what's the difference in those data cable.. guyzz there is a big logic behind this..
In samsung's data cable there are just 4pins in pin.. But in nokia's or in lg's data cable there are 5pins in pin that's why they charge very fast.. Take a look on picture I have lg's data cable and it have 5pins in pin..
So guyzz just use nokia's or lg's data cable to charge your note 2 very fast.. believe me guyz it really works..
Hit thanks if I helped you...

Use a 2+amp charger. Anything else will take longer.

It's true. I am using the cable from my old HTC phone and it takes 2-2.5 hours to charge the phone. It will take 5-6 hours if Samsung cable is used.
how does having 5 pins help in charging faster ?
ultimately on the other end there are only 4 pins right ?

Download "Galaxy Charging current" from the play store and you should get 1800 mA as your max and current if it's lower than that then you should replace your cable with a note 2 original cable just like what happened to me suddenly my note 2 needed 8 hours to charge now it's back to 2 hour \o/
My charger takes me a hour and a half to charge incredible I purchased it at handtec and honestly its amazing

i'm using Anker Astro E5 15000mAh External Battery USB cable... Trust Me... very fast charging:good:
i though best is using the galaxy current charging app to see the power current charging rate between 1600-1800 ?
does this LG 5 pin cable charging rate between 1600~1800mAh ?
Wont the charging tweaks fill in the hypothetical gap of both the pins in the cable? I mean im sure you can simply adjust the kernel to push out a higher current, or will the higher current be limited by the Samsung cable?
Actually yes! Just use persues kernel. You can reduce input voltage to as low as 0.3amp and as high as 2.1 amp. N2 Charges by default at 1.8amp.

As per my point of view its all misconceptions ......as long as ur phone is getting more than 1600 mamp current it will fast charge with any of the cables ...and if ur getting less than that it will charge slow ...so instead keep an eye on that ...as soon as it starts reducing check the cable .....

I charge in less than 2 hours with a charger I bought at a shop nearby.and it has the HTC usb attached
I agree to Manish
I agree to Manish.. check first in galaxy chaging current app what you are getting. Currently im using a 3 in 1 usb cable and Im getting 1800mah using the 2.1amp charger and 1200 if I connected it to the usb port of my laptop.
ive noticed it takes a really long time.
Takes me 2 hours from 0 to 100% with the original DK30 dock.

about 2.5 hours here from 5%, but I normally just plug it in to the PC over night and that would take about 6-8h? at 500ma from near flat.

Here is a question for you as I brought it up above, would a slow charge from USB be better for the battery than a charge at ~1500ma on the stock Sony chargeror even close to 2000ma from a Samsung/etc charger?
I've seen about 1900ma peak on one charger
Mine take 3.5hours from flat to full.

Hmm, i know @hamdogg knows about batteries and stuff like that. I'm using the stock 1,5mAh(?) magnetic charger, and it charges my battery in about 2 hours. I don't dare using a third party (even Samsung) charger on it, since the risk of damaging the battery is too high. I'm willing to do it after 12 months though, since i have, and other have nothing to losen (warranty is gone).

It should take no more than around 2 hours with an original charger. Use either the original SONY USB (included in the package) or the original SONY 30DK DOCK. Are you using a third party charger? If yes, don't use it.

In theory it should take just over 2 hours, but this being the real world...
Just wondering, our stock charger is rated 1.5A.
How come it seems that it can only charge 900~1100mA?
Many factors... Convertion loss.. Charging algorithm.. Temperature... So on

Is that normal? Are your Z2 chargers also like that? My usual charging time from 10-100% takes up 3hrs+ and it really takes so much time.
Back then on my Nexus 5, using stock 1.3A rated charger it only takes an hour and a half for a 2300mAh battery.
How come it takes double. Z2 is only 3200mAh right?

If your charging is slow you could try my rev4 quick charging mod from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62425879&postcount=224
Also, please note that Ampere does not show you the input charge.
