[Q] Huawei Y550 - Unlock - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently bought a Huawei Y550 in the UK and returned to Japan (where I live)
In Japan I can connect to local networks (Docomo 4G) using my UK EE SIM card but when I insert my Japanese (AU-KDDI) SIM card it won't connect to a network - selecting the KDDI 4G network gives the error 'can't connect to the network at this time. Please try again later' (or something like that). I get the same error when using the various APNs available.
When the phone lists the networks with my UK SIM inserted, Docomo has a 'tick' next to it and the other networks have a 'plus' symbol next to them. When I insert my Japanese SIM, KDDI has a 'plus' symbol next to it while all the others have 'no access' symbols next to them. (Image attached since I can't insert links as a new member.)
I was under the impression that if my phone was SIM locked I would be asked for a code when the Japanese SIM is inserted but I have full function of the phone (all apps, wifi etc) with that SIM inserted; I just don't have a mobile network connection.
Not sure if it makes any difference but this phone is bootloader unlocked and rooted. The problems were the same before and after rooting.
Is my phone SIM/network locked? Or is there some other reason that it's not connecting to the local network?
Thanks!

Unebale Conect to GPRS

Today i unlock my JasJam from my provider (Cellcom), thay give me the unlock cod.
I put Orange Sim but when i try to conect to the internet it say cant conect on roaming
Anyone know why???
Your phone knows why, it said "can not connect on roaming"
You inserted a sim card of a different provider but did not change the settings (access point). Now you are trying to access the Cellcomm Net with an Orange Sim Card so you are roaming.
BTW: Last week I was in Lithuania for some days, more or less out of curiosity I tried to check my emails with my Austrian Sim Card inserted - it worked without any problems. GPRS Data Connection via roaming, I think this will be expensive
I change the internet setting with a new access point/
but its still say "There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in the roaming netwark you are in"
i am in the same country
Yes you are in the same country but obviously you are roaming with another network. Roaming means that you are using another network, different to your sim card.
Please check "Settings/Phone/Network", in the top you can find your current network. If its not Orange, switch "Network selection" to "manual", search for networks and set it to Orange. If its Orange ask their support for the detailed GPRS settings or have a look at their website for a *.cab file with all the settings.

[Help]Phone Not Allowed MM#6

Hi Guys,
My friend has asked me for some help with his x10i.
He's purchased it from a market, and it was locked to T-mobile.
Its since been network unlocked by a local store, in theory to allow use of any network sim card.
However when you boot the phone with a sim card in, it comes up on the notification bar
"Phone Not Allowed MM#6"
It will show the little signal bar full.
Checking phone status it shows
Service state - In service
Mobile Network State Disconnected.
It appears to register onto a network, be that orange o2 ect.
But we are unable to make outbound calls, receive calls.
Yet browsing via gprs is working.
I have checked the IMEI with the T mobile. They advised that the phone is clean and not barred.
I have Tried different Sim cards i know are working.
I have Flashed the Firmware back to Stock, Tried the Latest Firm and a few other different combinations.
I am now Stuck.
Any suggestions?
Thank you

barred but sim working

so back again
recently had a post about my galaxy s2 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1502801 ) having network connection problems
so since the galaxy was bought second hand, i unblocked it with helroz application. The point is - it doesn't recognize my sim card in the country where i am now (Orange - France -only emergency calls), but accpets my foreign sim card (Roaming of course - but connected to one of the operators (SFR)).
Does this suppose to mean it's barred?
Does not accept a sim card
Sim Card faulty
Sim Card blocked .
And what do you mean by not accept have you set the Orange network connections ??
jje
both 2 cards work perfectly on other phones, so i don't think it's sim card problem
for each card the gsm ask for pin code - correctly input
but only for the orange card shows - emergency calls only
by settings you mean the APN?
aren't they supposed to be automatic when you insert the sim?

Click to collapse
Nope, sometime you need to configure yourself, send message by you network operator or manual install, just give them a call
APN are fine
they were correct, deleted anyway and input again, same situation....
other suggestions?
still don't get if phone is barred why is my foreign sim card working since it uses the roaming netowrk?

Sim card not registered?

Hi guy's, have a UK SGS2. It's rooted and running Criskelo ICS rom. I've recently been in Brazil for 6 months, my phone worked fine over there. I've come back to the UK and got a standard Vodafone PAYG sim card. When I try and use it the phone says "not registered on network"
The sim card itself is fine as it works in my old mans SGS2.
I have wiped the phone and installed the standard software and it's still the same.
Anyone got any ideas what could be up?
The phone could be network locked (sim lock)
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
That's what the guy on Vodafone web chat suggested.
How and why would it get network blocked?
The phone was originally on the 3 network. I bought it 2nd hand about 1.5 years ago and it's been fine on T-mobile ever since.
If it is sim locked, is there a way to unlock it?
You can unlock with:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sImV1LmNoYWluZmlyZS5zZ3Myc2ltdW5sb2NrY29kZSJd
It's free on google play.
I don't think it's sim locked, I can put any chip in it. It doesn't ask me for an unlock code.
I have run the sim unlock tool. The code it came up with is 00000000
When you go into the network settings, it shows all the service providers. every provider I click on says "can't register on the network"
I'm wondering if i've had some sort of network update in Brazil that's screwed it up?

I'm sure its something to do with being abroad as i've read about someone that had the same issue when they went from China to Denmark.
If I go to settings - phone it says...
Network - Unknown
Signal Strength - 103 dBm 5 asu
Mobile Network Type - HSDPA:9
Service State - Out of Service
Roaming - Not Roaming
Mobile Network State - Disconnected
My Phone Number - Unknown
IMEI - the correct number, I checked
The fault isn't with the sim card itself, I can use it in other phones and I can save a contact to it in this phone.
I'm wondering if some of those network settings I had from the Brazilian phone company's have messed something up.

XZ1 from Japan. Installed latest CE1 FW, partial Simlock

Hi. I've recently ordered a new XZ1 from Japanese distribution. Phone is working (without NFC of course) on latest Customized CE1 firmware. But I have a problem with calling. I can call anybody but no one can call me. LTE/4G and Edge/2G data is working. But phone doesn't see any 3G networks (I tried 2 Polish Play SIMs and one Plus SIM with the same effect). I enabled VoLTE by flashing oem from Japanese Softbank but this didn't help. I checked service menu - simlock status and there is one "X" sign at Network subset with number 5 beside. So now - is it possible to fully unlock sim so that I could actually use WCDMA connectivity to receive calls?
Network [0] either means the phone is network unlocked or unlocking no longer available
Network Subset [5] mean the phone is Carrier restricted and this restriction only allow certain SIM cards (most being seen CDMA network band I 2.0GHz)
you might have to either contact the distributors (au, docomo, SoftBank) or provide these informations to 3rd party services.
Hi,
I've got the same issue with my japanese XZ1 (SOV36), only EDGE or 4G.
Did you figure out how to fix it ?
