Hey I just had a couple questions on this rom. First of all Mad Props man , I love this rom and it was my daily driver 2 days after u first posted it here . Best rom i have ever had . Period. But I totally fu*&ed it up and to make a long story short i basically ended up having to start over and flash both roms again. So i just tried to do that and followed your instructions to a T just like the first time i did, which when i did that i got it right the first time and had no issues at all installing it and booting up and had no problems . So I tried to do the same thing and this time after i have tried to do it over and over checking and rechecking everything that i could before i came on here and asked a question. So the problem is that after i flash the Bada$$ rom and reboot , thatswhe the boot logo appeares and thats it. I have let it sit for almost 30 minutes to see if i was just not giving it time to boot but that didntmake a difference . Still stuck at the boot logo colored circles and that is faras it will go this time. Now I am not sure but after eliminating all the other things that could be contributing to the issue , i come back with nothing and i dont get what the problem is cuz i did it successfully the first time i flashed it and so i was just stumped . But then I noticed something that i didnt at first .......The download links that u provided for the roms go to dropbox and I realized that it said that they were both updated recently and so obviously that is the only common denominator that i have and im not entirely sure but its the only thing that changed from the firsttime i flashed this. I really really love this rom and so maybe you can point me in the right direction as to my problem and what to do if anything . I am not sure what changed in the roms themselves so i just dont know and the thing is i dont see anyone else even talkiing about this rom. So i am not sure if anybody else is having the same problem after the rom zips were updated . ?? Anyways I apprieciate the time for u to read this and also for the work u do , freaking awesome. So any help/insight directions would be awesome.

Hey there, thanks for encouraging words.
When I make a change to Rom throughout the day, I'll re upload the changes at night when I go to bed. You may have downloaded at 'bad' time.
I've never had it not boot, though after flashing Badass it usually takes 2-3 minutes to boot. I'm uploading now, wait at least a few hours and let me know how it goes. Apologies for so long to reply, first time I checked q&a

Awesomeness! Thanks, I am about to try it out and I will post results. Appreciate the work!

Rom is down until I fix it.

Hello I wanted to post that I finally was able to download both zips and successfully flash the rom. Now I am running it but I keep having an issue and I am not sure why cuz I have followed the op directions with the s-manager but for some reason I can't FDIC the problem . It keeps telling me to update Google Play servicesbut for some reason when I try to update it through Google Play it always ends in an error saying that my phone has insuffifient space but I know it does I can install any other app. So it constantly has an error message in the notification area. I have tried several things to no avail. If anybody can help please it would be great . Thanks for your timevand I will post if anything works out

Yeah, okay, you need new GPlay Services for newer stuff like YouTube. I put a script in there to prevent it from updating because several months ago the new Services made it to where my device wouldn't deep sleep. That was killing battery life, I'm not sure if that's still an issue.
Go into Terminal Emulator, type
su (enter)
then type
chattr -i /data/app/com.google.android.gms-2.apk (enter)
Now you can delete the file, and update it
Also, find the dummy file at /data/com.google.android.gms-2.apk and delete it too. The script that does this is at /system/etc/init.d/ zzzz. I wouldn't delete it, there's good stuff in there, just delete lines pertaining to that app( because it'll delete the new app too and replace it with the dummy file )

[Q] problems after ROM Revolution HD (Camera, Video & Tethering)

Hello all!
I just rooted my HTC Amaze 4G yesterday. I used "[ROM] Android Revolution HD™ 1.1.0" because I needed Arabic supported on my Android.
Anyways, now I have Arabic fully supported, which is great. the phone is fast, and it is now actually 4G instead of 3G, which is better i'm assuming.. (when I got the phone few days ago, it was showing me that it's running on 3g)
so all that is great, however, I have few problems that I can't pretend they don't exist!
-----------
first, the camera now isn't working probably, when you press the camera button, you see a scrambled picture, however when you take the photo, it looks normal... I'll upload the photo I took of it.
second, when I come to play a video, whether it's Youtube or any other vid, the picture is also scrambled and it's impossible to see.
third, the Tethering isn't working at all! it says "error" when I try to turn the feature on.
so far that's all the problems I discover since I installed the ROM. not sure if there is anymore!
I looked in the forums, and on google on how to fix them, but it doesn't seem that a lot of people having the same problems.
does anyone know how to fix these issues? and if they are not fixable, is there a way to uninstall the ROM but still keep the Arabic supported????
all I need is the Arabic to be supported, and of course no issues with the phone.

Make Sure you intall the ROM EXACTLY how it shows you, if you get errors, do it again
^^^^^ I would do that also. And if it doesn't work, download super wipe script (if you havent) and use it before flashing, I use it for all the roms I flash, even though its made for ARHD

I followed the thread word by word... I spent 7 hours yesterday rooting it!!!!!!
at first it didn't work, but I kept trying until everything went fine with no errors at all.
is there a way to get rid of it and just install another ROM? I also noticed that the phone now takes forever to boot up!!
Thanks for your reply BTW!

Yes, simply download another Rom and flash, most if not all roms here need a kernel to be flashed, if you want, pm me and ill help you further

I will try that, and what is I want to flash another ROM, do I need to get rid of the rev hd or I can just flash another one after using the superwipe? and will that cause the Arabic patch to stop working?
so if I want to have a stock ROM and Arabic Patch, would they work together?
sorry for being too naive lol

OK! that's cool with me... I can play around with the ROMs, you know removing one and adding another, as long as they work with the Arabic Patch
if i want to go ahead and use Energy Rom, all I need to do is do superwipe, and flash the Rom, am I right?
thanks again co

ok, so I tried this again. used super wipe, flashed the ROM and installed the arabic patch.... no errors.... and still same problems.
I'm in the process of trying Energy ROM! let's see!
I flashed Energy ROM.. still exact same problems
I basically did superwipe. then flash. then arabic patch...
the arabic is supported, but again no fix for the other 3 problems :'(
Does it happen AFTER you flash the patch or no?

well, it seems to be after the patch, that's why i'm not installing the patch right now. just the rom... i'll see if that was the problem in a bit
it just finished flashing... still same issues.
No patch, no arabic supportd, and still same issues.
no idea what am i doing wrong!!!
is there anyway to undo the ROM. so just basically go back to the original system without losing the "root" on my device... this is my second day trying to get the device to be usefull!... I was an "Apple" person, and things there are much easier,... i'm starting to hate android!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I still don't get it, why doesn't google have Arabic supported on their devices... it's one of the most demanded feature that people ask for it in their phones!
Ah!!
Wallah ana ma b3rif lol. They should add it in.
You can install a prerooted ROM or go back to stock and install root.

I give up - Seeking Help

Here is my issue. I have SGH-i777 - Plugged it into Kies - Updated to ICS - Found a Guide (not on here - stupid me) to Root my SGH-i777 on ICS.
It worked, but I noticed the GT-i9100 under the Galaxy S II logo with a yellow triangle at the bottom -however, the phone worked great until I stupidly used ROM Manager - Bricked my phone. I found a guide on here, but again...stupid me...didnt realize I was following a guide for the GT-i9100 resulting me in solving my issue and getting the phone to finally turn back...but only to think it was fully a GT-i9100. The only two keys on the bottom that worked, were my home button and the menu button on the bottom left. Nothing else.
I have searched and searched for this, and found a Post on here that advised me to Download the Odin3 I777 One Click No BL. Once I finally got my phone into download mode (which was a chore in itself) I finally was able to show SGH-i777 in My Kernel Version when I go into About Phone. HOWEVER - I still get the GT-i9100 under the logo during boot, my Auto Play window that pops up on my computer when phone gets plugged in via USB shows GT-i9100 and Kies tells me it can not update the device but at least it registers as SGH-i777
My questions are, how to get rid of whatever it is that shows up GT-i9100...so I guess how to start ALL OVER. And second, is how to properly get ICS or maybe even Jelly Bean - and if there is a root for it. What the proper steps are, so I dont end up in this mess again. Thanks in advance guys!
Triangle away from the appstore works to get rid of the triangle and such. You can also flash most if not all the roms here they are all ics or jb anymore I think

Hey buddy,
Looks like you took the long way haha. Alright, first of all we need to check if you are already rooted. Not sure if the one click no bl for you talk about was rooted or not.
If you determine you are rooted, you should be able to go into the android development forum, and flash any rom (be sure to follow instructions in OP).
If not, post back your android version, kernel info, and we'll go from there.
Ps, triangle away removes the triangle and gti9100 logo from startup, but you must be rooted and on ics (not sure if it works on jb, def no for gingerbread)

OP thanks for trying everything yourself first and learning from your mistakes before posting! You have no idea how many people don't put forth the effort you have done already. So as a reward, I'll provide you with nice easy links to get you back up and running again! :highfive:
This guide will help you get back to completely stock, unrooted Gingerbread (as if you just bought the phone). You can skip only the last step of that guide since you're actually keeping your phone. Then you can use this guide to start flashing custom ROMs without getting that triangle thing. I highly recommend reading both guides very thoroughly and multiple times so you understand everything. After doing so, feel free to ask questions about anything you don't understand from your reading and I'll do my best to help you out. And after you fully understand everything you are about to do, here's a list of ROMs, kernels, etc for your choice of flashing (most custom ROMs for this phone versions of ICS).

Haha, thanks. I tend to find pleasure in finding out things for myself. I love messing and tweaking with things. But this has got me stumped. I am used to Apple (if I am allowed to use that word here ) And jailbreaking that was a breeze. This, is way more challenging and entertaining.
so this is all about the warning triangle? and how to get to ICS?
r u serious?
I had to of missed something, but already flashed i777 stock, so yeah
I'm guessing it was the fact that OP's post was written in decent English and explained his problem in fairly well, the steps he took to cause it and what he's done to try to resolve, that it took a whole hour for the regulars to jump in here with the typical bs posts. (and ya, I know this is a bs post also, but damn, it gets old reading these same guys crap)

Why are you trying to be such a ****? Honestly except maybe motomudder's (sorry man ) there weren't any bs posts and none were necessary. You say you get tired if reading the same old crap of telling everyone to do what they agreed to when they signed up but when we tell people to do it over and over it annoys you? Nice double standards.

hello, also a new user here, with a situation similar to OP's
I had a working, rooted ICS by flashing the siyah kernel. Then I ran ROM manager and ruined everything
I used "I777UCKH7 OCD Root No BL" to get back to rooted gingerbread, but it's full of errors "android.process.acore unexpectedly ended"
I don't want to make it worse, which is why I'm asking you guys. Do I need CWM to do a system wipe? Should I reset/wipe my phone first, then flash an ICS ROM? What about kernels - how do I go from UCKH7 to UCLE5 (if that makes sense)?
my end goal is just a rooted ICS

From my understanding you can do a wipe data/factory reset from 3e recovery while on KH7.....I'd search it beforehand. but IIRC.
But if you want stock. flash stock.
we dont need a working system to be able to flash a ROM with Odin or CWM.

LOL...yes. This, and we should also add that if you flash a ROM for the 9100 on your 777 you need to buy all the recognized devs on the 777 forum a beer
To kernelsprite: i don't have an answer for you, but I'm fairly sure that the people who can help you will need some more info. Can you boot your phone? If not, can you get into recovery or download modes? What ROM did you have in place before you used ROM manager? Was it just stock?
Hopefully with this info someone more knowledgeable than me will be able to help.

need help, root problems?

hey guys.
I gave my mom my Evo 3D, but before I did it I flashed a new custom rom from here that had 4.0.3 on it. I believe it was a nocturnal rom, not 100% sure now.
was having some difficulties with the APN settings and turns out I don't have "proper root".
superuser says it can gain root access (almost always) but fails when trying to install the latest binaries. busybox says binaries arent installed and that it can't install them.
I still have S-OFF, and I can still use Titanium Backup and Root Explorer to do things that require root.
what can I do to fix this without having to do a full root and losing all her files and settings?
thanks.
First things first, this belongs in q&a, not development

I gave my mom my Evo 3D, but before I did it I flashed a new custom rom from here that had 4.0.3 on it. I believe it was a nocturnal rom, not 100% sure now.
was having some difficulties with the APN settings and turns out I don't have "proper root".
superuser says it can gain root access (almost always) but fails when trying to install the latest binaries. busybox says binaries arent installed and that it can't install them.
I still have S-OFF, and I can still use Titanium Backup and Root Explorer to do things that require root.
what can I do to fix this without having to do a full root and losing all her files and settings?
thanks.

I have never heard of this before. So you are half rooted?
I don't think that's right. I would say make sure everything is saved on her sd card, format all partitions except sd card, and flash a more updated rom. Then try installing the latest binaries.
Edit: Make sure to use 4EXT recovery and nothing else to avoid problems.
it seems half root is right.
I did another check. su was in /system/xbin but the permissions weren't right, even though I had just fixed them.
I pushed a su from a rom I had I know was fine, and that didn't make a difference. all the files in /system/xbin had all permissions set, except su had all but the execute permissions. I change it to have all permissions...rebooted. now root explorer can't get root access. even though SuperUser says it can get root access and that it is succesfully updating the binaries.
what the?!
Dude, just flash a different rom. The post above yours seemed dead on and he took the time to help you even tho you posted in the wrong section. You could spend hours/days trying to sort this out, or just do a back up and flash a new rom and your must likely good to go.

thanks.
Why dose this all ways happen

is this a known problem?
I'm fairly confident this was a Nocturnal rom, and a newer version of one I already had installed. I've flashed countless roms over the last two years and this is the first time this happens.
luckily, i'm on a Galaxy S3 now with no problems and full root. just want to figure it out for my mom so I can get her MMS working on MetroPCS

if you bother to check, I've been a member for way longer than all of you combined and have posted more than all of you as well. maybe the rules have changed lately, but I KNOW that posts in the Dev section are answered more rapidly, which I needed a fast answer, AND are seen by Devs, who rarely go in the Q&A section.
but my question was answered. so thanks. I'll download a new rom and flash that when I get a chance.

Okay then if you have been in here for such a long time how come you couldn't find out the answer for yourself and you should know that you should never post in the dev section unless you have a Rom or a mod </rant>

[KERNEL]Droid DNA Cubed Kernel Stock/System Write/Unsec ADB[01.23.13]Added HSIC fix

Okay folks. I built this for those of you who prefer to be on a mostly stock kernel.
It is all stock except you can write to /system, and adb shell as root.
I will not be modifying, maintaining, updating, or otherwise doing anything else with this.
If you are coming from my other kernel, you need to flash the return to stock zip in the OP of that thread first to restore your files.
Enjoy!

So this happened with this kernel or another?
Sorry for asking, but i didn't understand... Does this kernel have a root? SuperSU or SU should work fine with it?

the modified cubed kenels are giving me issues... I only had one lock up in 2 days but I just woke up to another lockup... think I'm just going to have to live without sweep2wake... just flashed the stock/write kernel... I'm not angry I'm glad to see development making progress and every phone is different... battery life is fine with me on stock but its better on the modified kernel but I can't risk my phone being locked up in the morning on a work day if my alarm doesn't go off

since the kernel now supports write to system you can now root from the phone interface instead of recovery now... so yes SU's should work fine
Thanks for this! I've been enjoying the bullet-proof stability of UKB with stock kernel. Delighted to now have a writable system without the ups and downs of undervolting, overclocking, etc.

Thank you, very much. I, for one, had some issues with freezing and SOD's on the more customized kernel, but I just kept my mouth shut and used this one, rather than make a big deal of it. I appreciate the work you do and wish there was some way I could help with the development of the other kernel. Not that you need it, but I'd be happy to do any testing and provide logs, should the need arise. Thanks again for all the work. It is most definitely appreciated!

Keeping your mouth shut doesn't help. Posting as much info about when/what/how things happen is what helps. And not going nuts about it LOL.

I'm fairly proficient in adb... definitely not a pro, but I am able to work my way around. I'm going to try 2.3.1 and see how I do with it. If I experience any issues, I'll definitely post any info I can. I want to get more active in the community to give back to those who have given so much to me over the years. Without XDA and dev's like yourself, I might as well have an iPhone.
I also promise to make every effort NOT to go nuts about anything, However, bananas are an entirely different matter. ;p

What version of Gmail do you have on your 3d, and is it AOSP, or ICS w/Sense. And by the way, if I remember correctly, we couldn't copy and paste in GB Gmail, so there's a win and a loss in this situation.

Its always Sense Never ASOP and I don't know how to tell what gmail Version ? also on all my GB Roms it worked ??? ICS is when a couple Did not work but never partially as in this case it either worked or did not! now in my case the emails from everywhere else work and the Links are Blue and CLICKABLE but the emails coming from XDA are BLACK and I can not CLICK ON THEM ????? Please Advise
First of all, I stand corrrected. You CAN copy and paste in the GB version of Gmail. But that's besides the point.
I am not sure why the emails from XDA are UN-clickable. Have you tried uninstalling Gmail and reinstalling it?
Have you also tried backing up everything and doing a COMPLETE wipe? Or even test a different rom? Or a stock rom if you are using a custom rom?
Just trying everything that comes to mind...

Also what you could do is do a full Nandroid backup, make sure it saves to your external sd though, then do a full wipe, and flash in MeanBean. You could even then after flashing the Rom let it boot in normal, then see if you can open links.

Yes with MeanBean you would have to update the firmware, but it is well worth it. As far as going back after you've flashed the firmware... well I was able to flash in a non JB rom just fine afterwards. The best part of MeanBean Rom, taking into account your issue, is that FAPPLE is built into the rom as well as just about every other thing you could think of!
