Hey guys,
I've been looking for a cheap excahnge email soultion everywhere, but can't find anything. Everyone want from $15 to even $250 for exhcane email with push. So i decided to run my own exchange server.
However, even this solution is expensive to maintain.
If anyone is interested in an exchange email with push let me know, there would be a small monthly charge which would help me maintain the server and pay for the bandwidth.
PM if you are interested.
Thanks

I use www.1and1.com I pay 6.99 a month looks like they have a 6month sale for 3.49. I like it a lot. Here is a direct link to the sign up page with details http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/Ma...59E303CB5.TCpfix140a?__frame=_top&__lf=Static
That's not too bad, deffinetly cheaper than most I've seen.
One thing I noticed it's one mailbox/email address. I would need more.
And their mailboxes are 1GB, I know that is a lot, but I recieve a lot of attachments and I keep them on the server.
I was also thinking of charging less, and if more people think it's it's benefitial, i'd be even less.

does the registration process check on your location/IP address such that if you're outside the US, you're unable to register & eventually use the NT?
i read somewhere here that even on a rooted NT, you can't bypass the registration process w/ B&N to start using (& eventually rooting) it. i've been keeping tabs on these NT forums with plans of buying one for use outside of the US. (courtesy of the root exploit, of course).
TIA for any merciful god/s out there!
also, this might be a good thread for all general concerns on using the NT, rooted or otherwise, internationally
just like NC, it should have no problems.
so, you could easily register from anywhere in the world with no hassle?

yes, i've registered mine from Italy 2 days ago and no problems.
of course the services that works only in us will not work but... for the whole rest tablet is working sooooo good!
I heard from one of the B&N booksellers in person that you can register but you will not be able to purchase anything from B&N outside of US.
But the same B&N account can be used to register up to 5 devices. I am in US now and I will be gifting a NT to my niece in India registered with my account. So whatever I purchase here, she will be able to download and read there without any issue.

Hi,
My name is Mohamed Asiq, I from India. I have a nook tablet, but have not registered it yet. So please I kindly request you to allow me to use your nook account. I ensure that I will not misuse it or purchase or use it, besides in India the account will not work. Please consider my request. Please.....

Why don't you enter any U.S. adress, for example the adress of a Barnes and Noble store? The adress you enter to register your device should not matter, considering you will not buy anything directly from B&N anyway.
And by the way, stop spamming threads with your request.
and there are many consumer shipping forwarders which offer a us shipping address for free. like shipitto, comgateway, etc...
thank you

thank you very much for your reply. By the way I am no spammer. . i think you know how you will feel when you bought a device at an extra $60 and it does not run. i bought the nook in India from a third-party with no bill or warranty.
i would consider your solution, but will not the B&N server want a proper credit card address. Guys i am not forcing anyone to share their account, there may be other possibilities that i do not know, so please help me with any advice not just your account.
Would this work?

YOU ARE A SPAMMER - You're littering your pleas all over the place.
We understand your frustration that not able to use a device that you paid a lot of money for. But that doesn't deprive us of our right to enjoy a enjoyable forum experience.
Seriously, XDA does not have the most behaving forum - Lots of noob and useless posts and that. But your spams are on another level!
This is not a playground that you can come and shout around. Well, even at a playground I guess you have to behave yourself.
I will give you the benefit of doubt that you're new to this thing called Internet forums, maybe things are little bit different over there in India or the forums you used to be, but stop doing it or I'm sure the mods will ban your account very soon.
No one in his right sense of mind will give you, someone we don't know at all, his bn.com account with the credit card information. This is soooooo stupid to ask in the first place and so I believe you have no malicious purpose.
But we still won't.
PS To avoid us being labelled racists or discriminate against Indians, lots of us are *not* from the US nor Europe.
see if this helps too http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/t5/NOOK-Technical-Support/No-credit-card-for-nook/td-p/787914

I don't think you need a VPN. You need a credit card with a US address, the physical location of the tablet shouldn't matter.

You don't even need a credit card to register your device. I registered mine without inputting my credit card information. You can register with B&N without a card, they just won't let you download anything from their app store. Load the Android market on instead and you'll have access to everything.
so everything is okay now, right?
Hi is there any way to get a free developer's account for the Android Market? Or will someone be willing to let me use theirs or buy one for me in exchange for a favour? I am only 16 and my family have no credit cards, and I haven't seen an option for bank accounts on our bank. I have also tried to contact Google but they completely ignored my emails.
PS I'm only going to host free apps.
Thank you and as for favours, if anyone needs any Android hacks or general help for Android, PSP or PC I'll help them.
Cheers
Hey, I understand your trouble, but you don't need an android dev account to use/ create apps, just to publish them in the market. You can just download and install them straight to your phone.
There is no way I know of to get a free account.

Hey mate I cannot pay them the $25 dollars because I do not have a credit card and they do not accept the bank that I use, if I could pay in cash or a gift card I would do that in an instant.
I also want to publish apps to the Android Market for the world to see my work.
How about using friends credit card and pay him by cash

Another option is to use alternative markets where you don't have to pay in order to have a developer account.
I don't know in which it's necessary to pay or not, but some of them are:
apktor, aptoide, getjar, handango, onlyAndroid, slideMe, appoke...

Or you could make a thread in themes and apps, and host the file there.

Hi All,
I'm looking to publish a pay for version of my free application. It's all ready to go and I foolishly thought I'd just need to set the price I wanted to sell the thing for and Google would sort out all the tax concerns etc. What a fool I was and after searching online I'm not the only one to have fallen into this quagmire.
I'm hoping that amoungst the wonderful people in these forums that there is a UK app developer who has been through this (what looks to be a) traumatic step and can give me some brief advice/guidance as to what I should be doing to do this properly.
An idea of questions I have are
1. Do I need to register a business before diving into this?
2. As a UK resident do I need to be gathering and paying the US (or other) buyers tax as well as my own VAT? If so, how?
3. What else don't I know about?
I realise that this advice should come from a trained professional accountant but as I don't know any (or think this current app is going to generate a revenue worthy of paying a professional) I'm hoping the developing community would be willing to share their experience. I'm happy to take this offline if need be, I'd just appreciate any pointers in the right direction.
(I have seen a few topics on this site vaguely around the same theme but not from a UK perspective, if there is a thread I should see then please direct me to that, but I have tried to find one already, honest!)
Thanks in advance,
Leighton.

I'm not sure what quagmire you refer to, google take fees and taxes out for you. Just specify the price of your app and upload it, they even automatically set right tax for you.
It was a year ago I set an account up but if I never registered as a business, don't think you have to.

This is not the impression that I get from their T's and C's. It explicitly says that google pass on the tax to you and it is tour responsibility to ensure this is dealt with correctly. Am I misinterpreting that or does it not apply to the UK? Does everyone else agree with Dave and I'm making something out of nothing?
Cheers,
Leighton.

Just to show you why I'm thinking that we do need to take notice of the tax. Here is a link to one of the latest notifications I had in the Google Play publisher site.
{linked removed due to newbie status/possible spam risk}
It explicity says, "Keep in mind that Google will continue to pass on the entire tax amount collected to the developer, and calculate the 30% transaction fee off the net price of the product. For example, if your tax inclusive price is 10GBP and your VAT is 20% (as set by the developer in the Google Merchant Center), then Google will first calculate your net price (8 GBP) and then apply a 30% transaction fee to that amount (2.4GBP fee). The developer would then receive 7.6GBP (includes tax collected)."
I'm pretty sure this is something I need to atleast understand properly before continuing.
Leighton.
My apologies, because I only have one for sale app and don't have to pay taxes (falls below minimum level of earning at which tax is applied) I knew google add the tax rate automatically but forgot that the developer pays it to tax office.
Here are the uk vat rules.
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/vat/start/register/when-to-register.htm
Basically you don't register to pay vat on your apps unless you earn £77,000 a year or more from them.
So if you are earning more than that you pay them the pounds per app sold that you owe as tax but not otherwise. In my case I don't have to pay vat.

That is great news to me, thanks Dave. My app will never come close to that kind of revenue. Hopefully one day this headache will return

Ok so i have an app on the windows phone and store that im in the process of converting to android (c# to java has not been too painful yet but i havent started on the ui ....i think that may be were the pain will be!)
my app was not a huge success but then it was aimed at a niche market, and in the 2 months since i published it has only had 230 downloads and not a single donation. so im thinking of adding adverts this time (hate to do that but a lot of time goes into the apps) or making it paid (hmmmmm shudder)
So i was looking at the requirements for google play and saw they want $25 to class me as a developer, i cant see me making $25 on the app and dont want to just throw money away ...hell im a min wage working doing this as a hobby i dont have this money thing they want lol
but then i remembered with android unlike windows phones i have options ! so what app stores do you guys recommend ?
the windows version of the app:
I realise of course choice of market site will be subjective but want to avoid bad ones that may steal my app and sell it on or have a bad reputation etc
