Hi Guys and Girls,
First of all I apologize for starting a new thread about this, I have put a search in both on Google and XDA and there is one possible solution I just need some clarification being a noobie!
I purchased Co Pilot 8 quite a while back when I was on stock rom but have since tried several different roms each time reinstalling my co pilot. After each install I obviously have had to reactivate it, last week after trying yet another rom my Co Pilot wouldn't activate. I contacted Co Pilot support and after several emails the outcome was that I had activated/de-activated several times and had reached my limit. They have allowed me to activate one last time(their words) but I know I'm not going to stick with the same rom so unless there is a way around this my purchase appears useless, especially as I have bought text to speech and live services as well!
During my search I came across a possible solution to back up your activation key which is licp8 in the windows directory. As I only have one activation left I need to get this right so if someone could clarify this for me I would be most grateful. What I need to know is if I now re-activate Co Pilot and then back up the above file (licp8) to my storage card, when I put a new rom on my phone if I then copy my backed up activation code from my storage card back to the windows directory, does this mean my Co Pilot will be activated without having to do so over the internet as this will obviously register with ALK Technologies?
Does that make sense,(no pun intended).
Sorry about the long winded explanation.
Thank you for any help
No offers?? Ah well I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet the next time I load a new rom.
can you not install copilot on the sd card so you won't have to activate every time you flash?

That kind of works, but only in the sense that you don't have to type all of the ridiculous long numbers for activatio again. It will remember all of your keys and your email/account settings.
I don't know how often I have re-activated, probably about 20 times, haven't had a problem since. But if you have a valid license and it has always been on the same phone (as in you didn't share the code) then how can they justify not re-activating the product. I like CoPilot, but if they try a stunt like that I will never buy it again.

Thanks to both of you for the reply.
I do install it to my SD card and like smackmac says that only partly works.
@smackmac
I have probably activated less than you so I don't understand that one?
In one of the emails they sent me, they have limited activation to protect against software piracy, I can understand that so I asked them why don't they link the software to the IMEI number but they said they can't do that. The software is fully legal and I have only ever had it installed on my current phone,(HD2). I did give them an in depth explanation of the reason why I had activated/deactivated but I got the impression they didnt believe me, I even had to scan my email receipt and send as an attachment as proof of purchase. Like I said I will try that possible solution in my original post the next time I put a new Rom on the phone and ill update the post to let everyone know whether it worked or not.
Thanks again for your response.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Please let us know how your test goes eddyedwards007.
I just learned from CoPilot Support/ALK Technologies today, that I have also reached this "activation limit", that I was totally unaware of. I would warn anyone considering CoPilot not to buy if they ROM flash often. Or even if the hard reset often. Or even if they just think they'll have to reinstall the software often.
After I contacted CoPilot Tech Support/ALK Technologies about receiving an "error 1027" when trying to activate the product after a recent ROM Update, I got the following response:
Dear Darnell,
Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support.
Unfortunately the reason why you are receiving error 1027 and why you are no longer able to continue activating CoPilot is our Activation server has seen that you have reached the maximum permitted activation limit for a product.
Looking at your product key code you have activated 24 times.
Unfortunately there is nothing further I can do to unlock your Product Key Code to allow for further activations as this falls under excessive uses of activation.
You can resolve this by purchasing a new version of CoPilot but if you continue to activate to the same level that you have already been doing then your new key will also be locked out after a period of time when you reach the maximum limit.

So basically, they have my money and I have no CoPilot.
I have never had an issue of this sort with any other product on my HD2. I guess the magic number for me was 24. I had no idea reinstalling to the same device multiple times was an issue for them. This is an issue anyone considering CoPilot needs to be made aware of. Ticks me off when we who follow the rules and pay the money are treated like the bad guy . For crying out loud, we paying customers are the ones that DO keep them in business! Trying to use the product honestly now has me locked out.
So I fired off a response to the support ticket with a complaint of how I dislike them having my money while they fail to offer me service. My issue has now been fowarded to "Senior Technicians" and they are supposed to be getting back with me soon.
If they ever grant me activation again, I'm going STRAIGHT TO THE ANDROID VERSION. The Android version does not have to be reactivated as often, since when upgrading Android ports all the information is saved and comes right back through using the old data.img file or a utility like Titanium Backup. HD2 owners using an Android port have confirmed this for me. (See here and here.)

Hi Darnell,
Interesting post, I more or less got the same response, basically you are not going to be allowed to activate a product you paid for because they think you are making pirate copies. I have just downloaded the latest version of the rom I use and I will be taking the plunge tomorrow(19/11/10)
I sent a PM to Appelflap, who originally offered the solution, asking could he/she confirm it works and this is the response I got, [That's right. If you backup licp8.dat and copy it back to windows directory before copilot is started for the first time on the new rom, it will start as a activated copy.]
I hope Appelflap doesn't mind me posting the quote that was sent to me via PM.
So I hope it works otherwise I'll be left with a deactivated copy of Co-Pilot I'll let you know.
By the way I hope they grant you another activation, good luck.
Regards
Eddy
Activation
Hi All,
Just to update what happened.
I have installed and updated my rom and did exactly as Appelflap suggested and .................................wait for it..............it worked!
So just to recap, if you have like myself, purchased co pilot and flashed numerous roms, you will eventually reach an activation limit and ALK Technologies won't allow you to keep activating indefinitely.
So if you go into the windows directory, copy licp8.dat to your storage card, and then after you have reinstalled co pilot, copy the licp8.dat file back into the windows directory BEFORE you open co pilot, that is important! This worked 100% for me and also my text to speech and live services I purchased are also working.
I take no credit for this, all the thanks and appreciation go to Appelflap
I hope this can be of benefit to other members of the community, and lets hope no-one from ALK Technologies reads the forums and comes up with a fix!
Regards
Eddy
Yesterday, I got this message from ALK Tech.
Dear Darnell,
Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support.
Please try activating your CoPilot again with the same product key.
Please be advised that it is imperative, before you upgrade or change the rom or the device, that you deactivate your licenses yourself in the future in:
Menu --> Settings --> Licencing --> DEACTIVATE
If you have any further questions, or feel that this incident has not been resolved to your satisfaction, please do not hesitate to bring this to our attention.

I was able to reactivate CoPilot Maps. But I am still unable to activate the Premium Live Services/Live Traffic that I also paid for. So I've asked them to assist me with activating that also.
A couple of things that may help
I've yet to hit limit and I think it is for the following:
I use XDA_UC (Energy version) to install the Laurentius26 CAB and also to copy licp8 (contains your license key and saves typing out on the ABCDE keyboard) over to windows which avoids the need to reactivate the license. Then CP8 when run does do not go thru the activation loop.
Clearly for this to work you need a purchased license. I've have changed ROM's several dozen times without issue using this method. I hope this helps.

I was able to successfully activate Premium Live Services/Live Traffic tonight. I think I was mistakenly using my old password when trying to activate that one. Since the old password was likely stored, but I had changed the PW when trying to initially figure out why I could not activate.
I sure hope more CoPilot owners see this thread before they run into any issues.
might sound simple but wont a backup or system image saved to your sd card restore your setting/co-pilot etc? ive done this with my phone a handful of timeswhen updating roms, never with anything fully registered but demo versions of apps and sofware ive installed are still within the preview time limit.
this way you can restore your prefered rom with your copilot and settings without having to activate it time and time again. may be totally wrong as ive never used co pilot but unless anyone says otherwise its gotta be worth a try?

Not usually good practice to restore a backup from an old ROM to a new one. It's usually best to only save and copy over just the nessesary files. Such as the one already mentioned.
To restore the full system image would also introduce any potential bugs that might have been in the old ROM's system files.
But we're trying to maintain what we paid for, not extending a trial.
Has anyone gotten Copilot Live US to work on the G-Tab? I purchased it and it installed fine. But when I try to run it, it gives the error that my IMEI ID is not correct and to restart my tab. I contacted their support and they said that I needed to make sure that I had version 8.2.0.590 installed from the market. I checked and I do. Still giving me the error and suddenly their support has gone silent on this matter.
I had this issue. Loaded a older version and it worked fine. This Weekender I updated to the newest version from market place and it works fine now also. I'm using the version you listed.
Do you happen to remember the version number you loaded that got you working before the market upgrade? Their tech support contacted me today and asked for me to send them a copy of the deviceinfo.xml file so they can see what is going on. I checked the file and there is nothing in the IMEI setting. Waiting to hear back from them tomorrow I guess since their tech support ends at 5PM.

Thanks... tried it and it did get past the IMEI error. But it is asking for a Product ID number. I checked my order receipt from the app market and could not find any reference to a product id. All I have is the Google receipt number.

You should get an e-mail from ALK with your ID. My understanding on market purchases is that it basically comes as a 15 Day trial with a generic ID... once you get your ID number you plug that in.
I had purchased Co-Pilot along time ago (for Windows Mobile actually), but the APK works fine with my ID (I had to de-activate my Windows install ... only one device can use the ID at a time.)
For those interested, here is where I get the latest APK's on Co-Pilot:
http://www.alk.eu.com/copilotlive/androidinstall/
This is not cracked, hacked or otherwise stealing. You still have to have a valid Co-Pilot license/ID to use this.

Customer support has been the only one that has sent me any email. They have now escalated the problem to their engineering dept. They say the new version should work on the g-tab. Sent them my config file and the information on the rom that I am using. Also told them that installing the older version allows me to go past the IMEI error but that I have no product id to enter so I guess it's just a waiting game now.
Thanks again for all your efforts.
I ran into a similar problem with copilot (invalid imei) on a g-tab running TnT Lite.
I figured the issue was, the device not being a phone, that it didn't have an imei, so I just got a refund and sent 'em an email asking for g-tab support.
Never heard anything back, but if an upcoming version is going to support the g-tab, that's good news.
FWIW, mapdroyd (free / no navigation mode) and navdroyd (not free but cheap / has nav mode) works just fine on the g-tab. The maps are all vector drawings, so they're pretty small, and, yes, it works offline.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfotunately, by the time I realized that the software would not work, the 15 minute time limit had expired. I've been dealing with thier support and they assure me that their software works on the g-tab. They wanted to know if I was on a modified rom. I told them I was on TnT enhanced which is the stock rom with market access. They said it should work. I've also tried it on every rom I could find and none of them seem to work.
My issue has been "expedited" D which is customer support speak for you'll probably never hear from us again) and was told to "wait for us to reply". I'm going to give them until wednesday to come up with an solution or I will start raising a stink about a refund.
It's a shame that this doesn't work. I have the exact same software on my Magellen 1700 and it is an awsome package.
The .504 version I posted above works just fine with the G-Tab. You DO need a license number from them. I haven't bought from the android market, so I don't know the full logistics of how they get that to you, but once you have that license key, .504 will work just fine (I use it all the time - and all version prior to .504).
Versions after .504 give me the IMEI error, so I just don't use them.

The version you get from the app store doesn't ask for a product code (or at least I haven't made it that far yet.) I installed the version you posted and it got to the part about the product code. I talked to their customer support and told them that I would be happy with that version if they could give me a product code id for it since I had purchased a newer version that did not appear to work. He said since I purchased through the app store and not thier website, he could not give me a product id. Then I asked if i could just go ahead an purchase a version from their website and here is the reply I got.
You can purchase the $19.99 Northa America version from our webstore but I would hate for you to buy that and still have the same problems. We will get back to you as soon as we can about this issue. We appreciate your patience.

CoPilot Technical Support
I don't want anyone to think that I'm attempting to pirate this software, I have purchased a version from the apps store but it just won't work.
Ok, now I'm really PO'ed. Just checked support site and they marked my service order as "Solved" Not a word to me about anything and certainly no solution to my problem. Guess next step is to contact credit card about refunding my money. Too bad, I really like the software.
I am still having this issue as well. Currently hve a support ticket with them.

Well, they just refunded my money (even though I never requested a refund). I guess the issue is "resolved". Oh well. I wish it could work.
Anyone know another good offline navigation package for android?

Just got my refund from them this morning also. Their explaination was "it was not designed to run on your device".
I've tried Aruna from the market and it installs fine. Then you have to download the maps individually. I downloaded the map for Indiana and it took me hours to complete and then the map would not load. So I'm still looking for a solution too.
I know you guys may be fed up with Co-Pilot at this point, but I still love it.
Is it worth a little more money to buy the $20.00 version from the website?
For me, it's an absolute must-have tool when I'm on the road (I do a lot of field work, so having GPS is crucial). I've used everything from In-dash GPS/Radio combos, to laptops on Ram-Mounts, to just using my Droid X.
My G-Tab/Co-pilot combo is just awesome

Thanks for the reply, seems I was a little too late! I also received my Xperia S on the 9th. Oh well, guess that's more money I have to spend...
I don't understand how, but I just received my SmartWatch (MN2) from MobileFun in the UK. Nobody has stock and MobileFun still say they don't have a confirmed release date...yet here I have one this morning delivered. I think what may have happened is that stores were given single units to display prior to the main release, and as MobileFun is an Internet retailer, they just passed it as normal stock! It was sealed and had never been used before.
Now I am not using it with a Sony phone. I have an HTC Evo 3D. Although it is working, I have hit 2 issues already
1) This phone is listed as compatible, but the email notifier does NOT work with HTC phones. All other apps, like text, calendar, call log, music player, weather , facebook and twitter do work fine.
2) If the bluetooth connection is interrupted for any reason, such as moving out of range, sometimes it does not resume correctly and the watch ends up in an infinite loop trying to reconnect to the phone. I have to kill the processes on the phone to reset this.
It installed a firmware update when I first installed the Liveware and Smartwatch application on the phone, so I am sure there will be further improvements for things like this in due course.
It says it includes a USB charger on some websites. It does not. It just includes a unique type of USB cable that you have to plug-in to a generic charger or computer.
The touchscreen works quite well, but the image is not that bright and there is a yellowyness to the colours. Swipe up to move to widgets, swipe down to move to app icons, swipe across to move between pages, and use two fingers to go back up a level! There is no speaker in the Smartwatch but it does vibrate. The screen resolution is adequate but limited.

Thank you for reporting. Great to see your micro review with key issues listed. Now, about the bluetooth, I just have to say I'm flabbergasted. Sony Corp. have had A COUPLE OF YEARS to get this right since the LiveView and they still manage to screw it up. I'm sorry, but it just isn't acceptable.

I am not sure, at all. The LiveView received few and poor updates. Further improvements - well they cannot even get the basic functionality right so they shouldn't release it. I do hope you have a non-release version. This is appalling.

Yes the vibration alert is key. Shame they haven't got the Bluetooth right, though. I would have got a Motorola MotoACTV. At least they do upgrade the software every few weeks, BUT it lacks that one crucial factor the vibration alert.
Still hoping Sony will correct things before release.
On sonymobile sweden homepage the smartwatch is listed as "New" now, before is was listed as "coming soon", i think it was today they change that.
Sorry for my bad english.
Guys is it that bad
or are you so demanding
I was hoping to have fun with some accessories for Xps.
But now i very concern about it IS IT WORTH's IT since i dont want to put my money on the mud
Cheer up
seem's that sony wont get any more profit from me !!! Too bad SONY
I also got mine from mobilefun. Works well except for email notifications with LTE galaxy note. I get a device not supported message. It does reboot a couple of times but auto reconnects.
Battery life is good so far, I am pleasantly surprised. It also looks good.
It is quite good. It just isn't super reliable yet with those odd disconnections. The more apps you add in the more it does those random reconnects. The hardest test is the viewfinder app which really stresses the Bluetooth connection. The mail app will only work with Sony phones. Just have to hope someone develops an htc one. Battery life really is good.
I preordered mine and it should arrive 5th of April here in Germany. Since I have learned that BT-issues may be caused either by the gadget and the phone itself I give it a try.
But as an old Sony-victim (MBW 100, MBW 150, both dead short after the 2-years-warranty), I will return it immediately for refund when BT does not work properly.
Give you a report as soon as I have my hands on it.
arrived a bit ago
mine arrived last friday,
I'm semi impressed, but to be honest I don't think they should have called it a "Smartwatch" i think Smart Remote, or Extended Display would have been more correct.
1. if it doesn't get a BT connection to a phone it will not do anything,
2. if it looses the link ( phone with dead battery, turn off bluetooth to save that last bit of battery you have left ) it has a fit and will loose time eventually flash's the time then goes to a connection type screen like when you first got it.
3. VERY FEW USEFUL APPS, yes new events, and social network apps are working but aren't really over the top, the ViewFinder app sadly wasn't even done by sony yet in the original Live View the same feature app existed made by sony. what gives? there are only a handful off useful things for apps and gmail notifier isn't one of them. it just says if you have a mail and how many unread , doesn't tell you anything more. so really it's a bit of a letdown.
All in all i'm fine with it, and i put up with it, but I see why now some of the standalone android watch's are more expensive. can't say IMWATCH would be any different but i suspect it would be as it has storage on it suggesting you can load a few things and run it without the bluetooth but if you wanted updated info then it would need to re-link to the phone. this would be much more attractive then what sony did. so hopefully they'll catch on and at least allow you to keep TIME and maybe an onscreen setting as to 1 bluetooth on/off to save battery and just use as a watch sometimes, ( maybe an app? ) and have it not go into dead mode. fair enough if you power it off it loses everything and will require linking to the phone. Also MULTI DEVICE WOULD BE NICE, i have more then one android device that can run the software thusly if i want to take my Galaxy Note one day, my HTC SENSATION XE another, or my p920 another day, i should be able to choose which one i want to use with the phone that day and not have to keep re-pairing it. just maybe they can limit it to one connection at a time bt remember maybe up to 4 paired devices ( or at least 2 )
( meh why rant here as Sony never reads here mosta the time anyway )
Received my free Smartwatch from Phones 4 U today. Not had chance to play with it yet to give a review but thought I would mention as it would seem the accessories are now becoming generally available.
where are you guys buying these in the uk? Cant find any retailers

You can do some great things with the watch, seems cool. Hopefully when more apps start to pour through it will get even better
I just receive mine this morning.
A gift from thephonehouse with my Xperia S
Some basic apps from sony works perfectly.
But other apps (japanese most of them) working as they want...
Like an app : it command your camera and you can see in your watch live images. This apps launch your camera or not
A workaround to enable email notification on non-Sony phones with the new SmartWatch - note requires knowledge of Tasker.
posted on augmentedtraffic dot wordpress dot com (post is titles Sony Smart Watch Observations)
(I cannot provide link since I haven't posted enough here).
Someone can give me one?
Hi i installed the truesmart master on my phone and osmart companionon TS but when i pair my phone with TS it says that Network access point of my phone is unavailable...
What am i doing wrong?
You are doing nothing wrong. Omate errors in the TrueSmart firmware cause this. Known issue all this year, but Omate has never fixed it. Don't expect them ever to.
so now i cant use it like companion nor like a phone(my signal is so poor)
Really nice brand
Not a nice brand and not at all a nice company. Avoid Omate, their parent company Umeox, and MTK products in the future.
I did find that with a sim chip from T-Mobile in my TrueSmart I could share its internet data connection with other devices through tethering them to the TrueSmart. This worked well, except the TrueSmart battery did not last long. I don't think that will help you much.

I also live in greece so we don't have t mobile here
But at this time I only have a watch that only will help me pass my classes
Its sad that I paid so much money for nothing...
If you are up for the challenge, install [ROM] 07.06 EnSec STOCK Secure + Root. You should see better battery life. After that, install Cyril's SWApp Link for companion capability.

I want to install the rom for many reasons but im a little worried that I might brick the watch... (for me now TS is a brick)
But as I said I want to pass the semester at September so after that I ll do it :good:
I m also in a thinking to send it back to fix my 3g antenna (if there is a problem) but im worried that I ll have it back next December
Putting any information on an unpatched TS is not unlike leaving your door wide open when you leave and hoping nothing gets stolen.
If you have had it more than 5 days then good luck getting it fixed. See very bottom of page
SWApp Link with bluetooth
I have that delayed bluetooth notification issue with all roms/firmware tested(1900NA)...Is there anything I can do? is this an isolated issue with just my device? Do I have to wait for Kit Kat? LOL

If you want to solve this, you have to exercise. Or you can lie to your watch and check "sport mode" anyway. Since I have done it (the second one) this morning, I receive notifications immediately. Soon I will see the impact on battery.
Thanks MrTip. Unfortunately it dies in less than 7 hours in sport mode with minimal use. Errr.
sport mode is a joke

Also, sport mode is a joke ! When screen is off, you can still click on it. You can randomly launch apps and change settings without knowing what you are doing. Congrats, another feature made useless by poor judgment.
My bluetooth notification delay issue stopped when the SD card was removed. It returned when the SD was returned. WTF?
I've been trying to get an original Omate Truesmart (mostly for Android 4.2) and I've been having difficulty finding this watch.
You can't get it anymore, can you? I bought an Ordro SW16 and the compass is broken on it, so I had to return it.

I sent you a PM.
The DooGee S1 and the Lemfo UC08 appear to be identical in looks and specs.
Thanks for the replies, guys. I just bought one off eBay.
After a bad experience with the ORDRO SW16 (a TS clone) because of it's borked compass, I decided to go with an original TS instead.
