There is an app out there by the name of HOOPLA digital. find it under hoopla in the play store.
many public libraries use it to download digital content ( audio books , movies , music etc..) to their patrons' phones.
does anyone knows where this app stores the downloaded content?
For the life of me I am unable to find either the file or the folder on my phone where downloaded content is stored although it plays just fine.

You should have Sdcard0/com.allinone.free
Sent from a stolen phone!
HOOPLA digital-where is content stored?
Shivadow. Thank you for the reply. Much appreciate the help
I did search for the allinone file or folder but could not find anything like it
What is puzzling is that when I download a title. I can see it downloading and it plays through the hoopla app but there is no file on the device that even resembles an audio file . Even if I sort all the files by date I cannot find anything that matches the download date. I even shut down my phone for a day so as to isolate the date and still nothing .
I have looked in my emulated folder sdcard0 folder and extsdcard folder.
This is bizarre. can you or anyone think of a search strategy to find that content
Thanks again
I found audiobook data in /data/data/com.hoopladata.android/files/audiobook/ and a subfolder with an ID that I'm assuming is a UID for each book the app has. The files within this folder are .ts save for a .key and a .m3u8 which I believe are the AES 128 bit key to decrypt the files and a m3u playlist with metadata about the key.

You cannot see the location on an unrooted device. You need to perform an application backup to get the files onto your computer if using a rooted device. I played around with the audio files, but could not get them unencrypted.
Has anyone been able to figure this out? I've been trying for over a year to no avail. My current device is not rooted so I may be SOL. I found a post on another site for recording the online stream from Hoopla Digital . com but I wasn't able to get it to work.
Courtesy of zly6t
"Working solution! A little slower than what I was doing before but it isn't too hard. Captures the online stream - takes about 10 minutes to DL a 20 hour book; another 5 to convert; and then however long to chapterize. Here's what I used.
Three pieces of software:
1. rtmpDumpHelper (stream ripper)
*one program that requires three separate downloads - all extracted to a single folder*
http://rtmpdump.mplayerhq.hu/ (rtmpDump - intervenes in audio stream)
https://github.com/K-S-V/Scripts/releases (rtmpDump 2.4 patch)
http://nirsoft.net/utils/rtmp_dump_helper.html (UI for rtmpDump)
2. Pazera Free Audio Extractor (.flv to .mp3 coverter)
http://www.pazera-software.com/products/audio-extractor/
3. WavePad (chapter splitting)
http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/
I'm purposefully leaving this a little vague because if figuring out how to use the linked software is too daunting, you probably don't want to mess around with this. But it does work!"
How could that work, though? The audio files on the device are encoded .ts files, there is no way that they are sent over as .flv files and then encoded on your device. I would suggest looking into a audio capture app. DL the book, and then record as it plays.

Do you mean for PC then? It is entirely possible, whatever they do for PC users uses some browser based FLV solution. Your best bet probably would be to do some stream capturing off of the PC, particularly if they use some unencrypted FLV. Secondly, you could try to beg some help from encryption experts for the Android files; It really should be possible.
See my stackoverflow.com question Unless it was a red herring, they include the encryption key with the files, and even a decryption configuration file like ffmpeg likes. Strangely though, the key is encoded in base64 (solvable). But also twice as long as it should be for AES-128, which is both the designated encryption and really the only one you ever see used on encrypted .TS files. ffmpeg will attempt to use it, even with a key that is too long, but does not recognize the output so will fails. So maybe it is encoded in AES-256, in that case we need a more general decryptor to decrypt it than ffmpeg, or maybe PC ffmpeg take the first N characters of a too long key and android ffmpeg takes the last N characters?
Per Hoopla:
Question: Can hoopla content be downloaded?
Answer: Yes, but only to the apps. Downloads are not available for web browsers. All downloads are temporary; they are limited to the duration of the lending period, and at the end of the lending period they are automatically returned. Downloaded titles are also wholly contained within the hoopla app to protect against piracy – they will not appear in iTunes or other “downloads” folders. If users log out of hoopla on the app, any titles that you may have downloaded will automatically be removed from your device. Once logged back into hoopla, users may re-download their borrowed titles to the app. They do not need to re-borrow the titles, just re-download. A title is limited to two downloads per lending period.
I assume that if you turn your device off you will lose any downloaded material also. Maybe someone else can confirm.
Hoopla content is encrypted simply, but not as simply as you might hope (ie keys are not in the m3u8 file)...
Clarification
The full path with my Note-4 connected via USB to my Win-10 PC is:
This PC\SAMSUNG-SM-N910A\Card\Android\data\com.hoopladigital.android\files\downloads\bsa_9781433235177
.ts files are a part of a video storage system for DVDs. Hoopla breaks files into like 3000 pieces, either to make download easier or more likely to enhance security.
You can download to Kindle Fire, then play back offline with audio cord from Kindle's audio jack into a recording app of your choice on your PC but it takes 1:1 recording time to play time, still . . .
What is the current status of extracting audio from hoopla?
How about decrypting comics (jpg)? Anyone has an idea? The files are easily downloable, just can't view it.

Hoopla can be set to download onto your external SD card. Look on card under HDHC("D" /Android/Data/com.hoopladigital.android/files/downloads/(LLL_#############)/ 3 files(Manifest.mpd, (name).jpg, (name).mp4.
Not a normal MP$ file. Can anybody convert it to MP# or play it outside of Hoopla?

Hi all
Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer music downloaded from Napster to the xda? I have tried copying but I just get an error.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Try synching your xda, then right click on the file or files you wish to copy, click on explore in activesync, find the place you want to copy to, then right click and paste.
I can get the wma across, but it wont play as it needs a licence! I have got round this by burning to CD and then copying back to PC then to XDA.
My question really was why can you not transfer directly from windows media player? The Napster site, and Windows, gives a list of devices that are compatible, mainly mp3 players. Do you need special drivers and if so do they exist for the XDA?
Thanks
sync your xda then from within media player choose copy to cd or device. Select your xda from the drop down list on the right and the tracks you want to copy from the list on the left and then choose copy. This should copy the tracks and the licence (as long as you have bought the track cos the licence you have if you don't buy the track does not allow copying to a mobile device)
I have tried this but I get an error when copying. I have seen that some mp3 players need a special driver. Is that the case for the XDA?
(I can transfer other music that I have copied from CD so I know that the process does work for normal music).
Thanks
Hi all,
I just bought a archos 70 250gb and i bought it with the idea to have a backup of my music and pictures. But now i have about 24.000 media (pictures, music and some videos) files and the scanner is having a really hard time finishing the process and mostly seem to fail.
Is there a way to monitor where it goes wrong?
Is there a limit for the amount of files the library is able to scan?
Is there any other way to finish this process?
Now i can only play my files by a folder player (now using poweramp) and i can't watch all of the pictures because it fails on scanning them.
Now it's kind of useless to have 250gb if it doesn't work properly.
Are there other people that have the same issues, and might have a solution ?
Thanks in advance!
(i have searched, but couldn't find anything similar)
Received an answer from Archos:
Dear Customer,
The android operating system used by your Archos limits the number of files indexed, because of this limit some files like music, videos or pictures will not be added to the media library of the device and will not be visible when you browse the media library by Artist, songs, albums etc..
You can access to the files not indexed by using the file browser of the device, or by the “storage” item of the audio player (or video player).
This limit can’t be increased
Kind Regards,

Does anyone know an android music player that builds its own library?
I know poweramp is trying to release one in april, but i would like one now since i want a good working device..
Mixergy does not build its own library, but you can point it to one or more folders and have it play those.

What error show up??
I have over 80GB Music putted into my Archos 70 250GB too, also have 30~40 videos in it.
First time I need to download '.nomedia tools' from Market, than tick all non media folder to apply .nomedia, then do a media scan again and let it run overnight, its done!
This has been covered before:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-925337.html
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-920675.html
.. but to be honest, that won't help you a lot unless you've got # symbols in your files.
I eventually managed to get all my music files scanned, so I think the 20000 limit is not quite as set in stone as they say. However, it took a couple of weeks of solid effort and some coding on my part (feeding music files one by one into the media scanner and leaving it running overnight several times, and over one whole weekend) - not something I can easily give to anyone else, and something I'd hate to replicate if I ever had to clear my media library.
When you download a google play movie. What directory are they downloaded in. I want to try to put it on sd card after that point for more space when offline. Although I know its probably not possible. That is fine. But does anyone know where its downloaded and what format ? Oh yah I know internal phone memory but where.
THanks,
Ok does anyone at least know the file extension will be ? If you could tell me that I could find the directory . I know it will be at root level
Ok I finally figured out where it is stored. So I temp unrooted my phone made purchase and then selected download for offline viewing. So in the directory there is a file
application_4jSa8szMNjs.wvm
so i brought my root back to get into that directory then where i was stumped i figured it would be wmv mp4 3gp or whatever with drm protection but no its wvm I have never heard of wvm. so anyways I moved the wvm file to a different directly. Temporarily unrooted my phone . Then went into the google play movie app and it said that the download was missing. so i know I have the proper file. Now my question is does anyone here know anything about a .wvm file ?
Wvm is a file format used by a program called wave to store engine data. Shouldn't be possible to have it as a video file but you can open the file on a pc using vlc media player and use its view codec menu option to see what codecs are used.
It could be just named .wvm so people can't guess its codec by the file extension but vlc would tell you.

thanks
wvm
okay, so from what I can tell the file is stored in:
/sdcard/Android/data/com.google.android.videos/files/Movies/****.wvm
I downloaded the file, and opened it in VLC Media Player and it shows:
- Stream 0
---Type Audio
---Codec: MPEG Audio layer 1/2/3 (mpga)
---Sample rate: 22050 Hz
---Bitrate 80kb/s
I can only think that this is either the audio file and the video file is sitting somewhere else, or that this is the video and audio file and it is encrypted in such a way that it is only recognized as audio.

You should be able to tell if it is really just audio by the files size in megabytes.
If it is small it is likely just audio.

i was wondering the same thing. Found the movie in the place mentioned, it's called framwork_345345_blahblah.wvm
I can play the opening "20 the century fox" part in any media player then it hangs. However, Gallery can play it fine. I am going to try and move it out and put it in my movies dir and see if gallery sees it .. nope, it will play from that directory if I use Gallery as the player, but the Gallery up doesn't show it as a movie in my movies list. Wonder if I play with the extension...
Edi: nope, even changing the extension to mp4 didn't work. Unless gallery didn't refresh or something.

Yes, the movies are removed.
I have a similar issue....but I'm going to add a little twist here.
So I purchased the Wolverine DVD from Walmart, it came with a digital copy and a code to be able to download a copy from the Google Play Store. I did this, and then decided to move the movie to my external SD card. When I try to play the movie, it hangs during the "Universal Studios" opening at about 12 seconds in and then displays "Video cannot be played". I've downloaded countless different video players, but all have the same result.
Now here's the twist.... I used a file explorer app to locate the video folder and selected the movie file, it gave me the options to select which of the many video players installed I wanted to use to play the movie, I selected the stock player, and played the video through there instead of opening it from a video app directly, this time it worked! The movie opened, and played fine, but when I stoped the movie and tried to use the same procedure again, it failed and now displays "Video cannot be played" yet again.
Now no matter what I try, I can't get the video to play. This is very confusing, how can it work once, and then not work again, almost as if it got corrupted? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

If you copy that .wvm file to your desktop on your computer, you can use Handbrake to convert it.. Just FYI
Can anyone confirm that using hand brake works to make it play

I can confirm that you can't. I purchased the HD version of Elf for $5 and moved a copy of the file to my computer. When I try to open the file with HandBrake, it states: Scan failed: Unrecognized file type.
Would be nice to figure out how to remove the DRM on the google play movies so I can play them on the TV without having to purchase a chromecast. I wouldn't mind one, but it sucks being forced into it. Only other option is to download the BD copy online.
Hello,
I m a new user to this group. Would like to post my views since I was searching for the same thing as you guys are.
I downloaded couple of movies from playstore. Reading the previous comments, I went to the directory - Andorid/data/com.google.android.videos/files/Movies/*. there I found 3 directories - knowledge, subtitles and some blasdfjsd. I checked all 3 and came to know the last directory fjsdnfdjnd, contains my movies since the file size was huge.
I have Astro File Manager, using it, I copied one video file from that dfdsjnfdsjf folder, pasted it in Downloads folder. Then I selected that file -> Open As. It gave me some options. One of them is Video. Selected it. A list of video players came up.
Selected MX Player since its very renowned n can play any format. Ta Da. It starts working fine. I can play, pause, stop.
Only thing needs to be remembered is, for playing this file, you have to go in file explorer and then play as MX player.
If I open MX player to search for the file, I cannot see it in the directory.
I hope, i answered correctly.
Thanks.

Will someone please post instructions on how to download a movie you purchased on google play, and then move that movie to a laptop to watch on the laptop? Perhaps also give instructions on how to convert it to an mp4? perhaps also give instructions on how to remove DRM?
is this impossible?
Ok, so I'm able to download wvm file, and transfer to the PC. but how can you convert OR watch that movie file on a laptop without an internet connection?
Hi Guys,
I had a thought, whilst trying to look through the Google PlayStore for a DNLA Server app to play some files both off my Android Device and via the NAS Server I have connected to my Router. But unfortunately couldnt find a decent enough App in the PlayStore that catered for every feature I want, and thought...
1) Wouldnt it be AWESOME if the CyanogenMod team include a built in DLNA Server into their current roms??
and,
2) (This is where I am hoping a talented Android Programmer viewing this post may step in...) It would be really useful to have an App that can scan your NAS (or whatever other storage you have), and then list all the files (especially movies) as to:
a) What folder they are in
b) What name the file is called
c) How big that file is in size
d) What format, codec, and resolution
... and so on!!
Some Apps do show some of this information, but not all of it... And so wondered if anyone could code such an App?? Sure it wouldnt take a talented programmer too long to write a file scanning App that could create/output to txt, csv, html reports..??
Does this sound like a good idea??
Cheers, Lister
Anyone?
hi mate,
in wich form do you serve the media on your nas?
You mentioned that you have searched for dlna progs on google play, whats with BubbleUPnP?
Its working fine for me. Or do you have a smb connection to your nas and just want to scan there for movie files?
In this case wouldnt a good file manager be enough?
Hi @clonednull,
Thank you for your reply, and interest....
1) Not sure what you mean by "which form do you serve your media on Nas" ?
My media is various movies (DVDs mainly) that I've ripped in MP4 or MKVs of TVs and Films, stored on a QNAP NAS for easier viewing via my TV (networked) but also on Mobile devices around the house....
2) DLNA Apps on GooglePlay, much like uPNPBubble
True, there are many Apps on the PlayStore that support DLNA, but I guess I'm being a tad fussy here.. I am looking for something that has the looks, elegance and features, such as 3D carousel view of media that can be flicked through, but then clicked and pushed to DLNA devices. I am looking for an App that can push local (on my Android device) as well as networked media (such as my NAS) too the TV. But it all comes down to looks, and so many Apps either look dated, or the ones that look good dont work with local content, and only networked content...
3) SMB Network connection to NAS
Not too sure on the networking side of things, just know I have a QNAP NAS, that works fine when connecting/viewing via the TV. However an App such as "FX Explorer" on the PlayStore views the NAS connection as a SMB.
However the App I am looking for, to connect to my NAS via an Android App... I would like it to be able to scan the directories, count how many files/videos are in each directory, be able to tell me their file sizes, the file formats, their dimensions (ie: 720, 1080, 352 and so on) and then if possible, be able to export this data to the SD Card as a report, beit txt, csv, html and so on....
Basically so I can audit my data/content, so easy to browse and so on....
I did start to look at File Managers, rather than SMB scans or Movie Collection Apps... But cant find a single App on the AppStore than can scan my OWN content, and list it in the format that its recorded in and so on....
If you know any Apps, I would be very grateful...
Many thanks, Lister
Lo @Lister Of Smeg!
Aha so you want a viewer / streamer / dlna client + server / media list scanner + exporter for all specific file informations and this all should be wrapped in a fancy 3d look.
I'm afraid what you are searching for will not be found in one app.
As before mentioned i personally like BubbleUPnP for dlna content and i use the default file explorer (wich is Solid File Explorer) to search arround in my smb content.
If you want a good looking movie library of your smb content check out apps like MovieFlow
A nice looking video player with upnp and smb support is also Archos Video Player
Last but not least you could try out XBMC for android. It looks nice, has a lot of features and also plugin compatibility for many things but it is somehow "overdressed" for most situations.
Check them out at their Homepage: xbmc.org
Hope i could help a little bit mate and wish you all best! :highfive:
Hi @clonednull,
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.... and thank you so much for your reply!!

Indeed, lol.... Yeah I appreciate Im not going to find summit that ticks all those boxes in one App.... :crying: But that wasnt really what I was after, I'm kinda after 2x seperate Apps...
1) A DLNA Player/Server, that can play both local content on my phone, as well as videos found on my NAS. With a CoverFlow kind of interface...
So many of the Apps will not play locally or if do, they pass the playing feature onto another 3rd party App installed. Or they dont have a very good GUI on them, and have something like that of a Gingerbread App... lol
I've tried the Archos Video Player out before, and I think that is awesome... Especially on a Google TV Stick. I bought my folks one of these for Christmas, and have it pointing to my NAS with all my films and TV shows... Looks beautiful and plays beautiful too...
Also tried XMBC, but on previous hardware it didnt really run to well as it wasnt designed for it, and so had a lot of crashes, but it was fairly early into the development days... Looks a lot better now on my phone...
Tried MovieFlow, had a few issues with that... Didnt really want to connect too well I think, and I think it maybe because of the English Database issues its having at the moment (or at least thats what the App says....)
Solution: I think maybe I'll ask the MoboPlayer team, if there is any likely hood of them adding a DLNA client into their App sometime in the future. As that App can play anything and everything, has a lovely interface for local stuff... and especially the CoverFlow. Just needs to add SMB scanning and DLNA output and we're sorted
2) SMB Directory Movie Lister, basically any App (Movie or FileManager based) that can scan SMB / NAS devices, read all the video files on them, create a report on: Folder Location, Name, File Size, Screen Dimension Size, Format, Totals.... and then be able to Output it to a file (beit Cloud based, or local SD Card)
I am really surprised nothing like that exists out there, despite how popular NAS storage is for movies, and even though some Movie Apps can identify such detailed info when scanning files on these Servers, why cant any of them do Reports, say Movie Collectors/Audits...??
But thank you for all your help, very much appreciated... as always!!! I shall update this post if I hear anything back from MoboPlayer team...
Cheers, Lister
Hi, I have a question about suggestions for getting my music to play where Amazon isn't allowing me to play it. (Not specifically looking for cracks/encryption bypass.)
Amazon Music (Unlimited subscription tier) now includes an impressive number of Atmos-encoded music releases, including back-catalog remixes.
At this point, so far as I can tell, there are three ways the app will see/download/play these files:
On most mobile devices two-channel playback (e.g. my Pixel2XL)
but with some conditions (downloading, but not playing on Bluestack emulator)
On an Amazon Echo Studio standalone speaker
On a Sonos system
I want to play these files on a device with an HDMI output so I can hear them on my home theater system.
My device options with Amazon Music apps are:
Xbox One
Windows PC
Android TV (Hisense H8G from 2020) (over ARC, possibly the files will pass as EAC3...)
(I have an older phone with root, but it seems authorities isn't the issue.)
The old locations for file download (sdcard/android/ ... data/ or media/; /0/music seem empty of all downloads in the new lossless/Atmos format on my actual phone, though some of my older .MP3 downloads are still there. I'm assuming the new files are just hidden.
The .log file I can see in the filesystem for the instance running on the BlueStacks emulator (/data/.../music) suggests different playback profiles, all using mp4 files for encryption.
Amazon Music .log from bluestacks - Pastebin.com
Pastebin.com is the number one paste tool since 2002. Pastebin is a website where you can store text online for a set period of time.
pastebin.com
In the same folder on the emulated instance, divided among arbitrary-named folders [e.g. 00,01,02...; 0a,0b,0c...] are some mostly-arbitrarily-named files that are the right size and with a few naming hints that indicate they're the music files I'm looking for.
e.g.:
B089N5NK21.UHD96.0
B089N5NK21.UHD96.1
B089N5NK21.UHD96.2
B089N5NK21.UHD96.3
...
So...
I'm going to try exporting these files to another device and see if the Amazon Music apps will play them.
But I'm confused about why the emulated instance will download the files in "Atmos" but only plays them in "HD".
Any other ideas?
(Re: decryption/cracking, I have seen all sorts of advertising for Amazon Music downloaders/decrypters, but what I've tried isn't working due to the Amazon website not detecting a valid browser when the downloader app tries to use my login...)
