My xtz2 seems to want to keep it's screen on when charging. Even if I turn off the screen it comes back on. How do I turn this off? I have not ticked the option on developer options

1.) It does this with original charger
2.) Not being able to use 3rd party charger is a HUGE minus
There is a setting for this in Developer settings.
sigh...
"I have not ticked the option on developer options"
i.e. the option to keep the screen on when charging is OFF in developer settings

I am experiencing this too. I think its hardware related. Any time I try to charge with the magnetic USB cable , the tablet soft reboots. This is using the OEM charger too. Do you still have the issue? What ROM are you running? I considering rmaing with Sony.
I sent it in for repair, they replaced the board, fixed

Looks like I'll do the same. Was it rooted and running ROMs? Didnu relock bootloader and restore factory os?
No mine was stock lol

Hi, is anyone else having issues with their screen not turning off when plugged into power? I have my time out for 30 seconds. I need to go to display settings each time and press 30 seconds again and it will work fine, but will happen again in a matter of time. The only thing that is different is that Im using the power/usb adapter that came with my HTC Touch Pro 2 and plugged my micro USB cable to that. I cant imagine that would be the issue. Could this be another bug?
Have u tried deselecting the "keep screen off" option in development under applications in the settings menu?

Well TBH, if your having problems and your using an accessory thats not specifically for the 3D, that could be your problem. Most likely its something else, but did you try to see what happens with the normal charger to rule that out?
Hey there,
i noticed that my phone turns on the screen while charging when it reaches 100%.
That is quite silly, to keep screen on for hours.
When i go to bed i will charge my phone, and everytime i wake up my screen is on.
Is there any chance to stop it?
greetings
no one?

When you switch the screen on during charging does it go off or does it stay on?

Mine wont turn off at all by itself when on the charger. If a sms comes for example the screen stays on until I switch it off myself. Same happens when the charging is finished.
never had such issues

mine started behaving like this and the only way i could find to fix it was to do a full wipe :/ not ideal..
it's working ok though now and my "desktop mode" is checked!
I did the full wipe aswell and it was ok until i plugged it into my pc.. No differece with desktop mode. I also have a german one even though i do not live in Germany and after the full wipe all my languages on stock keaboard are gone apart from German.

Hi,
I have an Xperia U which suffered a broken screen from something being dropped on the phone. I replaced the screen but since then I seem to get the following charging problem.
If the phone is ON, it will not charge from USB PC or Mains charger, despite the phoning showing a charging icon and reporting 'Charging' in the Battery parts of settings.
If the phone is OFF, it will charge. During this charging, if the phone is switched ON, the phone will continue to charge!.
Any ideas please?
Gavin

Basically, if the phone is on when the charger is connected, the phone shows that its charging but it doesn't charge, the battery continues to drain.
The phone only charges when switched off. Whilst it is charging I can switch it on and it continues charging.
I guess to summarise, if the phone is on when the charger is connected then the phone doesn't charge!!
Any ideas?
Gavin
Even i face the same problem

Wipe all data and re flash the firmware. If your bootloader is unlocked fastboot the kernel again too

no, this is not a solution; I`ve tried another charger, USB cable, battery, factory reset, flashed new firmware... problem persist... at service center told me thad USB connector have no problem, so is the chance that problem be in CPU?
I had this problem with the new 3.4 kernel on the XS you see. It was because I flashed and didn't fastboot the kernel. Thought it may be the same for you
When you flashed new firmware did you completely wipe the phone clean?

No... bootloader is locked and not rooted
If you done nothing to your phone like root or unlocking bootloader then I think it is hardware defect

Here's an odd one. It seems that something on my phone, or perhaps the Stamina mode, is causing X-Reality to become deselected.
It's a low power option in Power Management, but when the battery is charged up, it should surely re-enable it? But mine is remaining off until I go back in and turn it back on.
And in any case, I've only invoked the lower power mode a couple of times because the battery is generally so amazing.
Any ideas what it might be?
Does it only happen after the phone has entered Stamina Mode?

I've got Stamina enabled all the time. However, I don't know when it has been disabled, just that it has been the last few times I've gone in to Settings/Display.
It's still on now, so I'll try and check regularly and see when it goes.
Yh same here, stamina mode switching it off after I turned it back on.

funny, I was gonna make a thread regarding this. it's been turning off randomly, never had the problem previously. always been on stamina mode.

checked mine too and yeap, it's gone again. I give up, didn't exactly notice a huge difference in pictures/videos anyway.
edit: I realized that docking my phone (mimics the effect when charging with a magnetic charger), it turns on X-Reality. when I undock, it automatically gets unticked.
notification LED seems to fail randomly too. man I hope this phone isn't dying.
Solved!

Bingo! It's when you take it OUT of the dock (or disconnect a magnetic charger) that it deselects X-Reality! Well done for finding that out, as it was really confusing me.
As shown here in a very quick and rough video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFHb-bZlHK0
PS. It doesn't matter if you use Daydream or not.
my best guess is that the restrict performance option makes it such that it turns it off when unplugged.
like in you said in OP, it'd be nice if it's turned on when juice is at an acceptable level.
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
I just checked and mine doesn't do that. Xreality stays checked no matter what I do. I tried USB cable, magnetic cable, restarting the phone, etc.
I've got Stamina mode enabled with restrict performance enabled. Probably that, although I'm out and can't test theory right now.
Edit: don't need to. Toggling option turns it off, so that's it. So even if you set 'restrict performance' and manually re-enable X-reality, the mag charger resets it.
Got the same problem guys. Anyway to relay this bug to Sony?
I'm on 314 btw
Sent from my D6503
Same problem on .314. Whenever I check x-reality after a night of charging the phone (although it doesn't go below my low-battery mode limit of 20%) it is always unticked! I don't charge using a magnetic dock because I don't have mine with me at the moment but even on stock USB cable it still does this. I think it may be a bug with the x-reality engine or the battery saver mode that turns it off.
So no solution at all? Do we know if it happens to Z3? So maybe with 4.4.4 will be fixed?
305
It happens on my Z3 too with the extended function turned on. Tried selecting manually, plugged in a usb charger, and plugged it out and when stamina kicked in, got deselected again!
Damn feature!

Solution is:
Settings → Power management → Stamina mode → Extended usage (have to be deselected)

Hi all, recently my phone when on charge the screen won't turn off, even when locked it turns itself on?! Any ideas to fix..
If you have activated Developer Options then look in there to see if Stay Awake is ticked, if it is then untick it, if that is ticked then the screen will stay on when charging.

That's not ticked, it seems quite temperamental. Can't work it out!
Hmm, have you tried turning off Daydream in the display settings if you use it? Only other things I can think of are maybe a Xposed module if you use them or a app running in background.

Well if there is no fix, then i'll have to take it back, as it keeps the phone very hot by keeping the screen on and off.

There is a small fix... it is to use a USB cable that has no "data capability".
I've purchased a battery pack which has a short usb cable, which has no data connectivity function (only used for charging) and that will not trigger the monitor on in anyway. For the temporary time being, I have that used to charge every time.
