Hello.
I saw a video of Galaxy Alpha and its keyboard had a separate number row at the top of keyboard. I can't find any option to turn it on on my phone. I do now want to install any other keyboards (swiftkey etc.) I am looking for an option to get it work on stock Samsung keyboard. Is it possible that it is because of the customisation from Orange?
Best Regards.
If it's not in your options your keyboard doesn't support it.

It is possible and this keyboard looks like a stock keyboard.
I have installed official software without Orange brand and problem is solved.

Open Split Keyboard has now been verified to work with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. This keyboard provides three different layouts: split keyboard, full keyboard, and one handed keyboard. It defaults to a holo theme, but can be switched to the Gingerbread or stone themes.

Nice find, I've been looking for a decent free thumb keyboard layout.
Doesnt work for me. Installed it but does not show up in keyboards to select from in tab 10.1 (16gb 3g version with new touchwiz version that comes by default in europe now).

It should be in Settings>Language & Input>Keyboard Settings>Configure input methods.
You have to check it to enable it to be chosen as a keyboard.
Works amazingly well. Love it.
Love this keyboard
Cool. Thanks.
Smail bug with split layout. Under full the space below the spacebar triggers spacebar, under split it triggers the next row up. Makesnfor?some?interesting?sentnaces?if you aren't playiny attention!
Can somebody tell me if it is possible somehow to turn voice input from stock keyboard? I looked in settings but couldn't find it. Also, do you use other keyboards? I got used to use HTC IME by jonasl, but now on 1280x720 it is obviously to small for the screen. I am testing Smart Keyboard now which is pretty fimiliar to HTC IME and has the option of voice input. I don't like Swipe as I never swipe, got used to "click" symbols. I would continue using stock keyboard if not the lack of voice input.

I use smart keyboard Pro. Been using it since the X10 days, love it.
Im using "Ice cream sandwich keyboard free"
works well, and gives you the voice input button there too
I'm typing quite a bit quicker on this keyboard as well, seems to be working for me.
give it a go
I've always used thumb keyboard on any android device I use. Has good customization options and keyboard themes.
I use ICS keyboard full ..
It have a good arabic letters layout, and I use gestures to change language, close keyboard , and delete last word ..
I works great in this big screen and just take a little space of the screen ..
even I already purchased Swiftkey X, but I feel more comfortable with ICS keyboard ..

Hi folks.
I am new user of Sony Devices but old users of Android and I was checking the possibility to activate the option to have "Voice to text" button at the keyboard for Sony Devices, but I am not able to see this functionality available. Is that something related with Sony customized ROM or some configurations that I am missing?
I used to have a key at my Keyboard to use Voice to Text functionality at my Samsung Nexus.
Thank you.
I think it's a ICS feature. We may see it on ICS on a few days

This is not ICS thing. Before have Samsung Nexus with ICS I had (Atrix / LG Optimus 3D) all of them with Gingerbread and this functionality was available.
I think is something related with customized ROM from Sony. Any other Idea whether we have a possibility to activate this functionality or Sony removed it?
One functionality I remember that was specific from ICS is that once you was speking for ICS the text was being created in the same time Simultaneously . But with Gingerbread you have to press the button, speak, and waif for google to convert and return the text for you.
Go to settings then keyboard you would find the settings I am using it now it comes default on Xperia keyboards

Hey everyone.
I come from an iphone 4 and recently bought this amazing phone. One thing Ive noticed on stock ICS is that when you type incorrectly a word it shows you a red dotted line underneath that word so you can change it to another.
I havent seen this on any keyboard. Not on samsungs stock keyboard or swiftkey or swype.
Am I doing something wrong or is it that it doesnt come preinstalled in the SGS3? I need that to see which words I typed wronged. How can I enable it?
Thanks!
I got 99 problems but a keyboard ain't one.
Move this to /system/app and choose as your default input method, its the stock android keyboard from ICS. (LatinIME.apk)

Anyone know a 3x4 portrait keyboard the same or similar as stock S3 4.1.1 with ability to add own words to install because Samsung f***ed up again with 4.1.2 and I just don't like portrait qwerty keyboards.
Are you asking for a T9 Keyboard?
Look up "T9 keyboard android" and try out some that look good?
As for the custom words, you can add them manually into the personal dictionary or use an app which keeps it's own custom dictionary.
Might I suggest to try out SwiftKey. I am pretty sure it does not support a T9 layout, but the QWERTY keyboard by them is amazing, and the word prediction after using it for a few weeks is just incomparable to other keyboards.
Yeah it's just the T9 3x4 numeric portrait pad I'm looking for, and I've tried loads from the market but just can't find any that work the same as a normal numeric pad, and I've tried qwerty portrait pads but just find them awkward and slow. And this is such a major problem for me I'm gonna have to downgrade to 4.1.1 if I can't find an answer.
Well in that case you just need the 4.1.1 Keyboard APK. I do not have enough knowledge to help you with this. But there is a thread here about it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952804
You can look around on google for "android 4.1.1 keyboard apk" and hopefully find something that will help you.
I really hope you can get it working with your current ROM so that you do not need to downgrade.
Wish it was that simple mate... But it doesn't work like normal keyboard IMEs because it's a system integrated App, and they changed the keypad on 4.1.2 so much that nothing from 4.1.1 will work without major mods.
