Give Patience Not Petition To Xiaomi ..
I made this thread for those who are getting frustrated with Xiaomi and recently they are talking of signing Petition for releasing source code of Xiaomi Mi3 specially in India.
Beofore I start this thread, You must know that from begining, Xiaomi is Providing the Best to us.. How?? Let us Know..
Xiaomi Mi3 was first released in China for Almost Rs. 24000 and it was running on android 4.3 JellyBean with Miui V5.
Then It was rumored in India without Revealing the price and we thought its price will be almost 20000 and it will be a great choice.
When Xiaomi revealed it will be Only 14999, we smiled. Then You says, its JellyBean, Kitkat would have been better.. Xiaomi does that to You & you smiled More. Then when Mi3 was released price was cut 1000 more meaning only Rs. 13999. You smiled More & More..
After the last sale of Xiaomi Mi3, or after 0ne-two months, Xiaomi Owners started to request for these things..
1. Lollipop Update
2. Miui V6
3. Source Code
I want to say, its only have 6 months from the last sale of Xiaomi Mi3, What more you want from Xiaomi as they are constantly releasing device such as..
1. Xiaomi Redmi 1s
2. Xiaomi Redmi Note
3. Xiaomi Piston earphone
4. Xiaomi Power Bank (5200mAh & 10400mAh)
5. Xiaomi Cases & Covers
6. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4g
7. Xiaomi Redmi 2
8. Xiaomi Mi 4
9. Xiaomi Mi Note
10. Xiaomi Mi Note Pro.
11. Xiaomi Mi Band
12. Xiaomi Mi Box
13. And Many More..
But You still want those three things.. Common man lets wait, and give Xiaomi More time..
If Xiaomi will only focus on upgrading Software releasing source Codes, How can they focus on their Upcoming devices in Many Countries. But still they are promising, they will update you as always..
So why Signing the petition, lets congratulate Xiaomi and Give our Best Wishes for their upcoming Products..
Thanks for Reading This..
As much as I agree with you, be prepared to get flammed from some members here !
24000Rs might be for the 64gb variant.....

1. They promised on the kernel sources FEW TIMES and breaks that promises BEFORE they announce that it will be release in Q1 2015. THAT what made many people angry.
2. You only look at the India Market situation but Mi3 has been sold in other countries months before that. If you waited for 1 month, we have waited for 3 months. How fair is that to make such a statement by you??
3. The issues with Xiaomi, MIUI and GPL is NOT a new thing. Some has given them few chances since then. It has been YEARS that xiaomi is breaking the GPL and against the community.
Maybe you jumped to android recently.
Maybe you knew MIUI just recently.
Maybe that's why you don't know the whole story.

Xiaomi is not my brother to keep a cover for them but the thing is, the thing which made something nearly impossible into possible, the thing which warm your pocket without firing on it, I respect it..
There are times when people doesn't understand, because they don't care of wahtever you are doing or whoever you are..
and that happening to xiaomi..
1. Xiaomi breaks promises, i agree, but why people not became angry at the time when Xiaomi breaks promises about price and gave you devices at much lower cost than they announced.. So i have empathy on under what conditions it does not providing Source Codes, may be you jumped to Xiaomi recently that's why you no nothing about it..
2. You waited for three months and we waited for months, nice statement.. that's why, xiaomi mi3 doesn't even have a rom since it came to India.. No need to talk from when I'm using Miui, Maybe before you ever learnt how to spell those four letters.
3. Talking about GPL, read GPL's first line what it says.. "It designed to take away your FREEDOM" Maybe the whole story you know, probably it doesn't meant to you or you even don't know..

How does one can angry on a good thing? And how does an "announced price" can be considered as a promise?
Based on your arguments, i can see the level of your maturity and intellectuality..
You may don't know me but some people may do and even used my miui rom before, or even used my translated miui apps before. So, unless you provide more valid and intellectual points of argument, i have no reason to reply anymore and can only say Good luck to you.
Good day.

Really, I wasn't angry.. I was laughing.. and Still am laughing out loud.. Because the level of maturity and intellectuality does not depend upon words.. People used your rom, apps, wow that's the only reason someone got to know you..
This is my last reply to you in this forum.. and I commited to it..
Because when I commit once, I ain't hear even myself..
Haha I just cant stop laughing. Great and funny post.
Please
don't let this subforum become like the miui official forum. This thread is totally useless, whether we agree or not with you. Think about it, if everyone with an opinion posted a thread about it, what chaos would ensue? Moreover, this topic has been discussed over and over and OVER, the only sensible thing to do NOW is wait until the end of Q3 and see what happens.
Redmi note 2's community is big, but unless xiaomi release the kernel source, modding will be very poor. II found this petition, I don't know if it useless or not, but I signed anyway (it takes few seconds). I want to share with you, we really need the kernel source. If you want to sign too, here's the link: https://www.change.org/p/mr-lei-jun...utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink
it's petition for Redmi 2, not Redmi Note 2.
Neither Xiaomi nor Mediatek will care about any petition.. I have the information that someone bought the full source. I am afraid you will have to buy it yourself, if you want it.
This link is for Redmi 2, not Redmi Note 2. Vv
Please create one for Redmi Note 2
Since the Readmi Note 2 is now sold internationally. Malaysia, Singapore (more to come). I am sure Xiaomi will have to do something about the source. They can be sued in these countries. in their home country China they don't care.
It's Xiaomi's responsibility to drop the source not Mediatek's. Since Xiaomi is releasing the product. and they have the source (if they didn't they couldn't make this phone) .

No one in these countries cares, and Xiaomi is way to chummy with MediaTek to release kernel source (and basically help out their competiting clones while doing it). There is only ONE hope, and his name is Hugo Barra. Being from Google, I can see him pushing to get the right thing done. I am from North America and have become a big fan of Xiaomi products these days, and I think I see a lot of his influence in the product line.
I also have the feeling that Xiaomi is trying to tie you into their ecosystem, and charging for services rather then profit off hardware (which is why the phones are so affordable). Allowing good AOSP ROMS to surface will affect their business model.
Hello dear XDA Experts
Which Xiaomi phone shall I buy (in Europe) that will be the most popular Xiaomi device for a long time (people will talk about it and buy it for a long time), have the longest support and have many and many custom roms made even after pulling it off the market and most of all custom rom Devs will love it?
Any answer is welcome to help!
BTW Do these devices met the above criteria? (Redmi Note 5 (Pro or non Pro, remember Europe), Pocophone F1, Redmi Note 6 (if it is available in Europe))
Flagship is what you are asking for, you should decide upon your needs because it is unfair to put the devices you mentioned in a comparison.

If it were SPECS differences that I'm looking for then yes but I'm looking for not SPECS but something else (I wrote it in the topic).
Why is it unfair? Is it because You think that POCO is a flagship?
But Thank YOU very much for a reply sir!
Probably A2

Dude, really?
I'm a bit shocked cause in Europe the sales of A1 and A2 with all it's variants were nothing compered to Redmi Note 5 (Pro)
Thanks for answering but please tell my why would You pick A2 and which variant?
get the poco, or the note 5 (whyred). But I'd suggest poco because it's better, newer and more popular.
This forum is for Redmi 5 plus (vince)
Also. Redmi series are midrange devices with lower prices, poco is a flagship device with a midrange price. If you can afford poco, go for it. People are crazy about it now.

I am considering POCO but imagine that in Europe my native tribe has nowhere POCO in mall shops or dedicated electroncis shops. The only way to get it is by ordering online (not from China).
However, the RN5 (whyred) is widely spread in every shop. The online shops have always some percantage off the price of that phone. The sales of this model is beating every sale that both kind of shops had and thay can't keep up with supplying the overwhelming demand. So I think because RN5 (whyred) is so popular that it will get much more custom roms than any other phone. For POCO is to early to see cause they don't have it in local stores.
nah. devs will soon move on from RN5. Most custom rom devs are from Asia anyway so availability in Europe is irrelevant. Just check their XDA sections for both and see.

Did I understand You correctly?
The current situation is that in XDA's CUSTOM ROM section of RN5 (whyred) has less custom roms than the XDA's CUSTOM ROM section of POCO?
With Xiaomi becoming the most successful smartphone maker in India, it's turning everyone's attention. Even people who used to call it a chinese junk, have either bought or planning to buy a Xiaomi handset.
There was a time when some people used to feel ashamed to take out their Xiaomi handsets in the middle of all Samsung/Apple/HTC users. But look now, most of the past glorious companies have either stooped the business or in a brink to stop. Even Samsung and Apple are now fighting hard to cope up with the immense popularity of Xiaomi.
Share your memory with Xiaomi (like when was the first time you used a Xiaomi device and how was your experience etc).
Cheers!!!

Redmi Note 2 (hermes) with mtk SoC, several years back, to replace a Zopo. My hermes was great for its time (full HD, etc) and is still going (in fact, I am still building OrangeFox TWRP recovery for it). The problem then was lack of kernel sources, which stymied custom ROM development. In the hermes forums we spent a lot of energy trying to "skinnify" the MIUI ROMs (removing bloat, and surreptitious attempts by various parts of MIUI to "dial home" to secret servers in a certain country). I also learnt a great lesson - Xiaomi + mtk are not a great recipe for custom development - hence the move to Xiaomi with snapdragon SoCs ...
Hi there, I'm using Xiaomi phones since Mi 3 it was really good device back then, until now I'm using Mi phone very affordable with great specs.
The first Xiaomi i owned was a Redmi Note 2, but the first device I used as my main phone was the original Mi Max. As a fan of large screened devices this was a perfect fit for me. Since then I have mostly been using Xiaomi devices for my main phone - Mi Max, Honor Note 8, Mi Mix and currently the Mi Max 3. I'm hoping the Mi Max 4 will be based off the RN7 Pro

Hey Bro eagerly waiting for orangefox for violet and thanks a lot OFR is lob <3
---------- Post added at 11:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:32 PM ----------
I used Mi4i for the very first time in 2015 and my reaction to it was wooooowwowwww! it was such a good phone i such a good price point and that strategy of price fixing is still there and i preferred the Redmi note series used kenzo, mido, whyred and now Violet ! thank you xiaomi and thank you XDA :fingers-crossed:
It was not available in South Africa for a while, I read reports of their phones offering great value for money back when I had a Samsung.
A friend of mine got the Redmi 2 as it became available locally and he enjoyed it. When my Samsung died and I needed a new phone, I found the Mi 5 on special from China and ordered it as it was speced very well and super cheap for the specs!
I loved that phone and was super proud to own one. Eventually the battery died and I then found a Nokia 6.1 Plus at a decent price and the specs seemed good - although it was a super **** phone and actually got stolen. So I then got this Redmi Note 7 Pro and loving life again!
Xiaomi make amazing phones, great value for money, the software work well and the phone works as a phone should.
They are not available locally in South Africa, so we have to import them from China.
I have helped two of my friends get a Xiaomi, one has the Mi A2 and the other has the Mi 8 Lite. All 3 of us are super happy with our phones.
The thread was created and thinking that they share and add all the information they find about the update to MIUI 13 or Android 12 on the Xiaomi Mi 9, thinking to make a request if this does NOT change.
Why do I think Xiaomi does not plan to update the Xiaomi Mi 9?
Browsing in different news articles, analyzes, reviews investigating the Xiaomi phones that will update to Android 12 or failing that to MIUI 13 note that among the device lists there is not the Xiaomi Mi 9, in some they do include devices of its variants such as the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G and Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer, but not the Xiaomi Mi 9, this information is anticipated, it may change, because of course being ancipated it may change, currently in Their update lists also include very lower-end devices such as the Redmi Note 9s and it will be updated with a Snapdragron 750G processor hardware that is well below our Xiaomi Mi 9 that has a Snapdragon 855 processor hardware if this is A final decision by Xiaomi to include the Redmi Note 9s device and its variants in its update list, but excluding our Xiaomi Mi 9 would be a too unfair decision and not so successful because no Our Xiaomi Mi 9 has a hardware almost equal to the Black Shark 3 Pro that has a Snapdragon 865 Hardware processor, another top of the range from Xiaomi ... So far there is no official information on the update of Xiaomi devices, they are still highly anticipated things, Android 12 has not been officially released on the Google Pixel (the first to receive the update), but we already have some ROMs such as Arrow OS 12 based on Android 12 AOSP, I think it is too fast and unfair if this is a decision final so that the Mi 9 is obsolete in terms of software, in a mobile that supports ultra graphics and high FPS in games like Fornite, PUBG: Mobile or Call Of Duty: Mobile, or high-end emulators ... we are in the flagship forum for custom ROMs, which adds support like six years later but this decision also affects how ROMs are created and the errors in them but it is always better to have the official version or, don't we think about that here? more in a high-low end mobile like the Xiaomi Mi 9, what do you say? Shall we create a petition on change.org? Do we write emails to Xiaomi reminding them of the update? Do we post notes to press on Xioami? Do we make requests at c.mi.com?
You tell me what you think Xiaomi does not want to update the Xiaomi Mi 9 at the moment and what you propose to do if Xiaomi does not update our device officially.
This phone is over 2 years old, meaning it's over its support period. Eventually it will be EOL on November 27th. Whatever comes after that, is a gift from Xiaomi, if any.
Damn that's hard to read

Unfortunately, it's not specs that matter, but time. When the device was released, there's already a deadline for how long the device will receive updates, be it base Android version, MIUI version or even just security patches. And until the recent 11T series announcement, it was 1-2 years only. Anything after that was always a bonus.
