Hello,
I've been digging around for a while search for an answer to my question and didn't found nothing concrete.
I have a S2 (version I9100 XWLSS) with root, latest Philz kernel+recovery and stock 4.1.2 firmware.
The goal is to go back to completely stock, including stock 4.1.2, stock kernel+recovery and unroot.
After reading a while, I understood that flashing stock 4.1.2 will unroot the device, is that true?
Regarding the kernel+recovery, how can I do it?
Is it possible to extract from an original 4.1.2 XWLSS dowloaded from sammobile and then flash the .zip?
Thank you in advance.

My Galaxy S2 I9100 is from Singapore and has the baseband version : I9100DXLP9
But i can't seem or rather can't find the way to upgrade to 4.0.4 as most of the custom roms require the ICS 4.0.4. Any help?
If you want to upgrade to ICS, first go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/ and search for a GT-i9100 firmware. Then, learn how to use Odin (do a search around here) to flash the firmware onto your phone
I'm already on 4.0.3 ICS. Rooted with CF kernel. But most roms require 4.0.4 like cyanogen mod. I can't find any firmware for LP9 for the 4.0.4
If you want to use CM9, flash the Resurrection Edition in Odin, then flash Gapps & the latest CM9 nightly. All the instructions are on the first page of the CM9 discussion thread. I suggest you read the first page very carefully & follow the instructions to the letter.
Is there a way for me to upgrade the firmware to 4.0.4? I can't seem to find the firmware version for I9100DXLP9. Or possible to upgrade via flashing a 4.0.4 custom rom?
You seem to be asking how to upgrade to the official Samsung 4.0.4. Well, there isn't one. And you wouldn't need to in order to install a custom ROM that is 4.0.4.
Ahh right right.. thanks for clearing it up. So i'm on a 4.0.3 rooted all i have to do is flash CM9 Resurrection and upgrade to the nightly build from there?
That's what was just said. And that's why I didn't even mention Android version numbers in my post. Because they're irrelevant.
Hi,
i have several kernel related questions.
The 9300 has 4.0.4 stock with an insecure kernel flashed.
I did that in order to use s3 tool kit. Now i wanna go back to
original stock samsung kernel.
Where do I get the right file to flash with Odin?
What is the biggest mistake i can do?
Will everything work like before or will I have to reinstall stuff?
thanks
Hello xda forum,
I'm a total newbie to rooting and flashing Android and I would like to root and install a custom rom based on Jelly Bean.
That would be the AllianceROM i9100 JB V5.2.
Is there a overclocking tool included?
My Phone is a Galaxy S2 european version with stock Android ICS.
Is there a way to root the Galaxy on a Mac, or is a PC with Odin required?
Is it enough to just root the phone and then install the file of the AllianceROM i9100 JB V5.2?
What method is the best to root the Galaxy S2 ( I don't mind losing the data on my phone, backup already done )?
Do I need a kernel or modem or is that all included?
Thank you for the help.
And sorry for the total noob questions...

yes, in sdtweaks that come with rom, there is a section that will allow you to overclock.

You can use heimdall on a mac to flash but it is safer and easier to use a computer with odin as there have been some reported problems with using heimdall.

Once rooted, just follow the instructions posted in the AllianceRom thread as recommend by the developer.

easiest way is to flash the siyah kernal with odin and it will root your phone.
here is the link to the siyah 4.1.5 kernal.
DOWNLOAD TAR (for Odin)
Do I need a kernel or modem or is that all included?
once rooted, kernal, modem and all other files are included in the alliance rom that you want to install.
Thank you for the help.

Before yu start flashing read and understand the flashing instructions throughly to save yourself from mistakes caused by improper flashing.
Thank you for the reply!
I thought that the root method with flashing a siyah kernel was not possible since in the AllianceROM 5.2 thread the following is mentioned:
" Kernel - Philz safe kernel. THERE IS NO SIYAH OR DORI FOR SAMMY JB. DONT ASK FOR IT!!! "
So people who want to install the Alliance ROM on their stock Android 4.0.4 Galaxy S2 should just root their phone and then use the ROM Customizer to install the zip file from the internal sd volume.
Or flash the AllianceROM ICS version with Odin and then use ROM Customizer to install the AllianceROM 5.2 package.
( Which has the Dorimanx Kernel I've heard? )
Ok.
Thanks for the help again.

Flash back to stock, or if you prefer, stock plus root. Flashing the stock kernel with Odin will give you the correct button combo and mic and clear the I9100 boot screen, but will not reset the flash counter.
Hello, and many thanks for your great efforts here. I have purchased a new i9100p mobile. Now, i want to root then try a new ROM. My kernel is 3.0.15-i9100pxxlps-cl674609, so i have downloaded a root file '' CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LPS-v5.4-CWM5'' is this right?
second thing, after making it with odin, do i have to install superuser? or just root with the above file and i am rooted? and later i can install any ROM.
last question, now i am on 4.03 originall stock firmware, and i want to try custom Rom 4.4.1, is it possible after rooting?
help me please, i am a noob
The CF Root method is meant for the I9100. But since I9100P is almost identical to the I9100 (except for NFC), that file should work. However, I suggest you go for Philz kernels, which includes root kernels meant for the I9100P also.
After flashing CF Root or Philz kernels via Odin, you don't need to install Superuser app. It will be installed automatically. And yes, you can try any custom ROM after rooting, including 4.4.1.
