Camera Folder Wiped out - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
the camera folder just wiped out after i was shooting a video, when i finished i went into the gallery to check the video and there was nothing but video and all other images and vids in the camera folder are gone.
other folders were intact only the camera folder, they are still taking place on my internal phone memory but they are not anywhere to be found. when i select all the folder to check the size it give me 4 gb, when i check the phone storage it says 7 gb used. the 3 gb are the files that i cannot see.
i tried to connect the phone to pc/diskdigger/hidden files/different gallery apps but nothing worked. hope any of u guys can help me out.
thanks in advance.

Sound like corrupt file table, backup your data and format internal storage.
If it happens again then your nand memory is probably dying.

sdcard unavailable

My sister recently did a factory reset on her Xperia X10 mini.
Ever since the reset her phone keeps saying that the Sdcard is unavailable
I have tried the card in other phones and they say the same.
I connected to pc as mass storage and the folders where like this.
Is the card beyond repair as she has all her pictures on it?
Is there any way to recover the pics?
Thanks
Have you tried backing up everything on the SD card and then re-format it?
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
Are the data also corrupt or do they only have strange names?
If they aren't corrupt you can search for the pictures on the SD card and take them off there
it keeps saying error everytime i try opening a folder or file so im assuming its all corrupted.
All the file names have changed aswell as they were all basic folder names eg pics, music, dcim, bluetooth.
As you can see from pics that is no longer the case.
Thanks

I guess then the best is to do what andy_dunlop said: "backing up everything on the SD card and then re-format it".
You might can try as last shot to install a application to recover corrupted files.
For example: http://download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-...Name=platform=Windows&filter=platform=Windows
Although I have less experience with that so do on own risk.

Video files are gone after flash

Yesterday i flashed a new rom.. everything went great got all my apps back with Tiitanium and flashed the camera HW button mod.
Now i was trying to play a movie file.. But all my Video files are gone! The folders are there..even the subtitles are there. Both internal sd and external sd got no video file. Any1 know what happend?
all my SII camera material is gone and also 3,5 gb of divx.
No one ever had this problem? all pictures, music and text files are still there.. my SII only "wiped" all of my video files it doesnt matter in which folder (internal or external sd)
That's kinda weird behaviour...
Could you please tell us more about the steps you've followed while flashing the new ROM? Did you reset to factory defaults with CWM?
i first had Rarity rom on my s2 and wanted to switch to Omega rom, these are the steps i performed:
-made a nandroid backup..
-Wiped data/factory reset
-Wiped cache partition
-Wiped Dalvik cache
and installed the rom.
after installation was succesfull i used titanium backup to get my apps back, Restored apps with their all data (no system data) and i flashed the camera HW button mod via CWM.
I feel you man!!! It happened to me too but I didn't flash anything. Did absolutely nothing to cause this. One day I took the phone and all video files were gone. I got so angry that even wanted the throw the phone to the wall.
Every single video file!! Movies, personal videos everything. Both from internal and external memory. Absolutely not a single video file left. Wtf was that? I lost every video I had. I wasn't keeping videos in internal memory cuz was afraid that something like this might happen but keeping in external didn't help either.

Thanks to JB's Freaking Portable Media Player Mode I Lost My SD Card!

Why did Jelly Bean have to remove the USB Mounting???
Today I connected my HTC to the PC and was deleting a folder in the SD Card had to access it via the freaking Portable Devices > SD Card and it was taking too long to delete a folder with an mp3 file. I cancelled it and restarted my phone to recovery to do a flashing.. Before flashing it I mounted the SD Card and went to the file manager only to know that my card has been wiped clean!
Used Recuva to recover some files but most of them is lost!
Then the strangest thing happened, I was recovering the files from recovery after mounting the USB drive. After rebooting back > Browsing to the SD Card via portable media I could see that the I had all the files intact.. Then after going back to the SD Card Root and refreshing, The folders were disappearing until I was left with the WhatsApp folder and some other folders (I guess whatsapp was running hence the folder didn't get deleted).
Can anyone explain what had happened and is there any way to get back the files?
Thanks

In all seriousness the data probably became corrupt when you removed It midway through doing something, check lost.dir on your Sdcard it will probably be full of un-openable files (there is way to get your data from this files)
Next time try using a SDcard reader

You cancelled an operation and directly unmounted the storage, that did corrupt the data.
If you want UMS mount SD in recovery

I don't understand. How does cancelling a deletion operation corrupt the data? I didn't pull out the chord in middle of an operation or anything like that.
I cancelled the operation and did some other tasks on my PC and later unplugged the chord and booted to recovery.
Anyways I have recovered some data with Recuva and now while I was at it, Did a full wipe (including SD Card) and reinstalled the ROM.
@prototype-U and other kernel developers! Can you add UMS support to the kernel soon?

It needs more than just a kernel modification imo

i suppose it would be easier in aosp rather then sense. But still very difficult. Will look into c8813 sources coz it has MTP/Camera/UMS all three modes.

Internal memory almost full, no idea why

Hi, I have a s3 international version, rooted and cm11 on it. My internal memory is almost full and I can't seem to move apps to external sd card. Also, a few months ago I had 5 gigs of space left, now 900mb... Did a complete whipe and started all over again, but still 900mb free memory. Is there a way I can delete everything, maybe go back to stock an start all over?
Thanks
Camera, or game data files, or changing rom to rom
1.When you switch from rom to rom( like 4.1.2 to 4.2.2) it leaves the previous rom's files in an folder named '0'..
2. when you may put some pirated games, after wipe.. the folder( data files) still exist
3. well, have you been recording a lot of videos or took a lot of pics??
I did have a few '0' folders, but I deleted them al.
Could be a few app folder, but definitely not 4gigs.and I have maybe 50 photos on it and no films.
Would it be bad if I deleted everything on the internal sd?
I also have a folder storage/emulated/0 and storage/emulated/legacy. In both are the same files. Can I delete 1 of the 2 entirely?
Thanks for the fast reply btw

To be on your place I would install Root Manager from G.Play and carefully looked inside. In acc to result i would be acting next step. And probably you will find another 0 folder. ( personal experience)

Use any file explorer (ES file explorer has one) which has storage space analysis tools.
That'll help you to locate the folders which are using most of the space.

Urgent ! Redmi Note 4 storage suddenly disappeared

Hello guys please help me,
I am using 64gb varient of RN4(snapdraggon)
Few hours back, I was transferring some videos from my device to my laptop via data cable,
then by mistake, I moved a 2.4gb planet of the ape movie to neighbor folder from the root folder.
as soon I realized I cancelled the task, but the window froze for 10 second.
after a while, I disconnected the device from my laptop
and now, my memory is gone
all apps are present, but the videos, audios and pictures are gone.
I opened the es explorer and device folders are nearlt neat as a newly formatted device.
also only 12gb is filled from the 56gb usable storage
kindly help, if there is any option to get back the folders
or please guide me to format my device.
device is out of warranty, so i cannot go to the service center.
thankyou

From what all you typed, I can make it out for sure that your files are in the internal storage, whilst invisible from both Windows Explorer and any Files app on Android. Check if you can access images from WhatsApp. If you can, make a quick backup online and reboot into TWRP to check the visibility of files. If you cannot recover any data, I'd suggest you to clean flash your device after clearing your Internal Storage with F2FS format to fix bad sectors. This would help you prevent any such errors in future.
