Hey everyone, this is my first time on the forum, unfortunately it's not for a good reason. I have seem to of soft-bricked my phone and I knew this is the place to go. I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 on NK1. The phone just sits at the Galaxy S4 logo thing when booting. The reason I believe for it doing so, was I tried flashing CyanogenMod to the phone even though I was not on the MDk boot loader. Stupid mistake. I have scoured the internet looking for the [ODIN][TAR] Complete Device Wipe/Repartition and Emergency Recovery for Nk1 Build. But I have had no luck can anyone help me?
Check out the original post in this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2959613 Under the troubleshooting section will be your tar. You will have to use Odin to restore NK1. The instructions posted there are a little short in description. Just pay attention to the directions. We're all here to help out. Welcome to the XDA forums!

see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
and also find the corresponding firmware to this kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
This is the easiest way to root, by flashing this kernel. all you have to do is boot into download mode once for the rom, and second time round for the kernel. job done.
Also don't post stuff like this in the development thread, people will flame you for not reading in the first place...
This might help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmvCpR45LKA
Please read the sticky's as have guides follow them, its actually very simple via the link mentioned above, any questions ask in corresponding thread.
On that note thread closed.

I have searched and searched, please forgive me if this has already been covered. I forgot to unlock the bootloader on Verizon note 2 and now i can't get passed "Firmware upgrade encountered...recovery mode in Kies....." I have tried Kies and I have tried installing the stock rom many times in ODIN mode. Please help. I have been trying for two days now to no avail. Thank you.
Sorry.
I posted in the wrong section. I can't figure out how to delete it or move it to the Verizon section. Sorry. :silly:

Got it.
I kept searching and used these. t0ltevzw_root.tar.md5 , sch-i605-16gb.pit
read the stickies...
I did read the stickies and none of them were working for me until i found those. Now i am getting the "system software not authorized by verizon wireless". Everything is good and passes in ODIN but it goes right back to the yellow triangle. I was trying to go back to stock when it happened to do the CASUAL method.
Arghh! Wrkng button. Stupid budwieser. Just delete this thread.

First of all let me say I'm sorry to even have to post this. I've looked and I'm sure this question has been posted a million times. But a lot of it just looks like Greek to me.
I recently bought a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 and found later that evening that it was rooted.
It's running Hyperdrive and the latest version. Also has a TeamWin screen.
I'd really like to unroot it and return it back to bone stock. But I haven't had any luck finding the firmware or instructions on how to do so that a new guy could totally understand.
If someone could give me a step by step and where I can find the stock firmware, I'd be forever grateful.
Thank you for reading this and I hope you all have a great day!

Alright, just follow steps 1 and 2 from this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259
I haven't used it myself but you should keep apps and data and be stock unrooted. If you have any issues or questions you can ask me or the OP of that thread.

I figured it would have removed the root access and the TWRP recovery and leave it in a mostly stock state.

I was trying to root my phone when I got stuck in the yellow triangle screen with a GT-i9100 (even though I have an AT&T SGH-i777 device). Now before you guys all gang up on me and say I should use the search button on google/xda, I'd like to say I did read up but I couldn't find anything on my problem - I can't get into download mode and although I can get into recovery, my home button will not work there (Bummer ) I tried to connect to Odin in the yellow triangle screen but Odin will not push the .tar file (Stops at Setup Connection). Please help me!
You need to provide more detailed information before anyone can help you. How were you attempting to root? I would guess from the result that you tried to flash a kernel with odin? If this is correct please provide details. If not correct, then please explain exactly what you did in detail.
For future reference, questions should be in the Q&A forum.

Thanks creepyncrawly for the quick reply! Okay, I had flashed a rooted stock rom to my Galaxy S2 (I don't remember the stock rom code) and then I don't know what got into me, but tried to flash another kernel from www.galaxys2root.com which got me stuck in the Yellow triangle screen. But now I'm fine, I used portable adb and got into recovery mode and finally installed a stock unrooted rom (UCKH7). So I'm back to normal! Thanks again! For your help. Next time I'll read more and make sure I post the full details.
I really appreciate your help!
Glad you got it sorted. In case you haven't seen a warning elsewhere, I would advise you to avoid anything from the galaxy s 2 root website. Many users have had problems using those tools, and some were severe. You should probably be able to find anything you might need right here on xda.
By the way, UCKH7 is now two years old. You might like your phone better if you installed the latest stock firmware, UCMD8. If you want to do that, you can get the files you need from the Download Repository. Then if you want root, you should use the Framaroot application. But definitely read up first so you know exactly what you want to do, and also ask questions here if need be.

I hadn't read about Galaxy S2 Root website. I'd definitely let everyone I know to avoid that website. Yeah, XDA is amazing and more than self sufficient for every need.
I'll download the UCMD8 and flash it tonight. Again, can't thank you guys enough for all the help! You guys are simply amazing.
Basically, I was getting rid of bloatware using Ti backup and I had accidentally deleted the NFL mobile app without any back up. I tried to be clever and re-download the app and try to put it back as a system app in hopes it would work, but it only came up as something like "UA-XXXZZZZXXXX" replace the xs, zs with digits.
I want to update to the latest version of firmware but don't want to brick it.
How would I go about taking the latest update without bricking it. I'm open for full ODIN root methods if possible.
Thank you I'm advanced.

Assuming you're stock rooted, you should flash a no-wipe factory ROM. Available from the Android Development forum.

No, but I will tell you how to find it.
You are in the "Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting" forum. On the toolbar there's a house icon followed by "Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4". Click on that to go to the parent forum of this one.
Now you're on the list of forums for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4. Click on the "Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4 Android Development" link.
Once you're there, scroll down until you see the post
[ODIN][TAR] I545VRUFNC5 Factory and No-Wipe Odin tars
That's where you need to go. For me, that's currently on page 2.
Since I'm already there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735172

Yes, or Heimdall (if you're on a Mac).
Hello everyone, I hope that you all had a good 4th. So, I meant to say, I am running Stock SS w/ root. 4.3
I've never used ODIN with my phone, I asked about the zip because some of them you can use within the recovery partition to system wipe, but how would I go about it through ODIN? Thought I'd be better safe than sorry for this operation.
IIRC the Hyperdrive ROM has the Hyperdrive Hub app that lets you download the bloatware separately from the ROM if you wanted. It has the VZW bloatware zip to flash and the Amazon bloatware zip to flash, but you could always just use a file manager to extract the apk you need and push it to /system/app

As someone has in their signature, "Reading is fundamental".
Read the thread I pointed you to, as it explains that you must use Odin and how to use it.
There's plenty of YouTube videos explaining how to use Odin, if you're really lost. However, this is pretty basic stuff.
