You can't flash custom rom with default recovery because our bootloader is locked.
That's why we must install custom recovery's like Safestrap or BootMenuManager and the default recovery will always exist.
I'm using the custom rom on stock slot because the rom is booting from the system partition (not from the Sd card) and I have whole 8 Gb available.

ryt as per u said ..
like i m a newbie but please answer this one that where are those files present if i just flashed a custom rom in it.
logically they should be wiped out ryt?
I have always been scared of bricking my phone if I flash a custom ROM on the stock but I finally decided to do it today by carefully following your directions and YES everything is working perfectly.
My phone has gotten fast, it boots up more quickly and I have a ton of space to use.
Thank you for this guide

Boot.img is the first thing that Odin flashes from the package, so if the upload succeeds, it means the kernel has passed signature verification and *should* work. The message you mention is usually displayed in the case of a downgrade, not an upgrade. I guess it's possible that the phone's bootloader may not support a newer kernel, but this has not usually been the case in Samsung phones.
If you would like to try updating to the latest bootloader (Knox included), here is a link:

Let me know if it fixes your issue, and I will add it to the OP.
phone keeps rebooting
Hi guys I have the galaxy sgh-i527m and have been running megafire for a long time but I just wanna try out this kitkat rom and after installing it with odin 3.07 my phone keeps rebooting after the set up screen comes on. I did wipe everything before installation and even after it was rebooting after set up screen I tried again to wipe data and factory reset but still the same. Any ideas someone
I'm not sure what could cause that issue, given it is a stock ROM with nothing other than root added. I'd recommend removing any SD card you may have in your phone, or formatting the internal storage, in case they have data that the stock ROM doesn't like. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Do you think the new bootloader could help or i can brick my phone since this rom is not working on my phone
Anyone else got any problems flashing this rom? I really would like to give this rom a try but I tried 2 times now and it keeps rebooting after a couple of minutes of running
Since it runs for a couple minutes, it would be worth turning on USB debugging and posting logcat output to see what is happening.
no sound
Hey guys my baseband and wifi are back working thanks... but i have no sound any ideas
4.4.2
baseband 1527mvlucne5
kernal 3.4.0-1739918
build KOT49h.i527m_4.4.2_0016

Just a heads up for those that are having issues flashing.
make sure you untick reboot after. let it sit when its done flashing for 3 minutes.
I also had to do it twice with a wipe and clear of cache.
mines working
This firmware got the WiFi and baseband working again (thanks) Is there anything i can do to get the eBay replacement touch screen working on Samsung kitkat 4.4?
Currently, the only known solution is to use a genuine digitizer. I believe a possible workaround is to unplug your LCD, turn on the phone, and then reconnect the LCD. However, this needs to be done every time you reboot the phone, so it's not really viable.
Thanks
I wanna thank you a lot for putting up this ROM toghether and make it available.
i fix a phone that everybody told it was gone. (No sound, No Baseband, No Imei)
i've first Upgraded my bootloader, then flashed your rom with ODIN.
Thanks and i'll send you a christmas present in form of a donation.

It depends, what kind of stock/custom kernel + custom mod you are referring to mate, this topic is quite old (CM9), for new stable revision (CM11) find ClockworkMod_v6.0.5.3-Cooperve ( accessible via my attachment : C7D971EC4CC8585A79903036C9AB9F82)
new version is based on MTD build, so old recovery as you mentioned, would not work on it . Restore back to stock and flash again with odin . if your sim card problems persist after flashing CM11, your baseband is probably old , so reflash some new stock firmware ( may or may not work )

Thanks for your reply mate...
I've tried 2 or 3 roms and got problem with space memory(only a few MB). I decide to back to a stockrom and the file I installed is bigger than the old firmware. Anyway avery roms I installed, leaves no space to install apps. I read about cm11 and cm9 thay are pretty unstables so I decide to not instal them (I'm a cm fan).
Could be useful to change pit files? Or do you know where find an original stock samsung s5830i firmware?
@Giobio, yep, most of the stock/custom kernel and roms are full of bugs, but I am experimenting with cm11 without major problems though. Getting OTA update constantly without breaking my delta is very good . For official stock firmware the only reliable source is sammobile.com database from best of my knowledge mate ,, just go there and choose firmware from top side and you will be directed to another page with couple of choices. If you know your original PDA/CSC/MODEM choose check firmware,, not so sure ,, choose firmware database , which requires fewer queries such as your preference country/region , model and OS type.

Thanks again, I downloaded the stock firmware from sammobile.com. It seems different from the one I found on the web so maybe the other one wasn't so original...

Slimkat 4.4.4 to Stock Deodexed JB ROM

Hope is intact for me though btw I flashed france & indian stock firmware directly from odin, and then just rooted it with stock recovery and without flashing cwm, now i haven't find a single sod or freeze issues yet, but france one is perfect and smoothest of all, inu version is bit laggy, but I am happy my measure issue is sorted now, btw 4.4 kitkat is designed to run smoothly even on a single core cpu with like 512mb ram, but as you said, they'll not gonna waste their presious time to work on our outdated phones

Hi there, I like to use this Deodexed JB ROM, currently on Slim-4.4.4 9 official 8260 (GT-I9100G; XXLSP; Kernal - 3.0.85+; CWM recovery 6.0.5.1). My question is will CWM 6.0.5.1 recovery will serve the purpose? what are the steps involve for flashing? Is odin is mandatory? a post outlines the following steps, is this ok? It also says to use temporary CWM, will my current CWM will do?

hi toldo. i'm using your ics stock rom deoxed, zipaligned and rooted. i tried with 4.3.1 rom but it was pretty laggy so i came back to the stock rom zipaligned, deoxed and rooted. is this rom similar to that rom? thanks
It is similar. It has some additions like battery percent, some apps and tweaks. You can check the changelog and also the list of stuff that is included in JellyBeanRom.
Tapnięte z madafakin LG G3
would you suggest downloading this ROM to an SD card and installing/flashing from the SD, or would you suggest using ODIN?
What rom? JellyBeanRom? It is only for custom recovery.

yes, Jelly Bean, it's apparently got 3 separate OS Kernels, and doesn't appear to work with ODIN, I'm wondering what install method you suggest
Like I said, You need a custom recovery like TWRP or ClockworkMod and then You can install zip from internal memory.
my tablet already has TWRP on it, the OS is bricked, but I can access ODIN boot, and recovery mode both. I don't quite understand how to run the install, ODIN keeps failing on my computer, and I'm completely lost. so, my question at this point becomes, what is the install process using internal memory?
You need to put the zip with the rom into your internal memory. If You can't boot the OS then you have to flash a stock rom with Odin, then flash recovery and then this rom. There are several how-to's in this section. If You don't know the basics then I wouldn't go for a custom rom.

System UI has crashed
I flashed the ROM without any trouble, but as soon as I mess with any of the toggles in Settings, I get a System UI has crashed error over and over and can't do anything until I pull the battery and boot into TWRP and re-flash. Is there a reason for this or a fix? And another random question, does this ROM support F2FS? Everything I've read says that AOSP 5.1.1 supports it, and so does this Kernel.

Wiping dalvik and cache clear up a lot of these issues for me . If that doesn't clear things up would normally reinstall the ROM and make sure you are using the correct version of gapps.
Make sure you wipe your dalvik, cache, data, system, (not internal SD) though.
Good Luck,

For the life of me I cant get the Linux enforcing to go permissive. Ive always used toolbox and for some reason the buildprop. Will say set to 0 but it doesn't change a thing. Does anyone know of another way maybe thru terminal or something?
ZV4?
So I have the LgG3 sprint or the ls990. I currently have it rooted on ZV4.
Can I flash this rom without upgrading to ZV8? because the last time that I tried keeping my root while upgrading to ZV8 I bricked my phone.
and or what rom would work to flash on ZV4 or ZV6 with less risk of hard bricking the phone.
any help would be appreciated.
Edit:
I flashed it and I love this rom the only thing is that I have no data. How can I fix this? I already tried flashing just the modem.img of ZV8 but that did nothing. and made it really hard to boot into the rom. Is there something that I could change in the build.prop so that I have data?
