[Q] Can't access my SD - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there,
my S3 suddenly stopped letting my access my 64GB exFAT SD in Android like a week ago, but it still works in Recovery Mode. Connecting to the SD on my PC via Recovery mode also works.
I've tried it on 3 different ROMs, one based on CM11, one based on CM12 and one based on AOSP Lollipop, and did a full wipe several times, but always got the same results.
Android recognizes that I inserted an SD, but in the settings it says that it has a capacity of 0 bytes, and it shows up as a file instead of a folder under /mnt.
This also happens with my old 16GB FAT32 SD.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

[Q] SD Card Problems

Hi all.
Here's the situation:
I have a 32 gb Sandisk (unsure of the class) sd card I've used with 2 different phones for at least over a year now. I took the card out of my phone to connect it through my laptops built in card reader for the purpose of transferring large files (card reader speeds are much faster than usb mounting through the phone for me). When I put it in the computer Windows wouldn't recognize it. Now it won't mount in my phone at all, and it won't work correctly on my PC. When I connect it to my computer it says the card needs to be formatted before use, but then when I go to format it, it shows up on the Windows formatting screen as only having a 30.6 mb capacity and I get the message "Windows was unable to complete the format" whenever I try to format it, no matter the settings.
So my question is, how do I get the darn thing to work again? I think something must have happened between shutting my phone down to remove it and putting it in my computer. I just don't know what. Anyone else ever experience this? (I've already given up on recovering all of my files, but if it's possible to save them that would be amazing )
Things I've tried:
formatting via Windows
formatting via android
formatting /external_sd via Clockworkmod recovery
a couple different data recovery/partitioning programs (Partition Wizard and PhotoRec/TestDisk
also using "chkdsk" in windows command prompt returns saying that the disk is in the "RAW" format.
Additional info:
Phone: Motorola Droid RAZR HD (XT926) (Verizon)
ROM: XenonHD 11.01 (Android version 4.2.2, AOSP based)
Sorry if this is more lengthy than necessary, just trying to be thorough and cover all the bases!
Thanks in advance for your help!

[Q] Nook Table won't boot if sdcard is installed

Hi Guys,
I am at my wits end with my Nook tablet. No matter what I do, the NT refuses to boot until I take the micro sdcard out. The screen remains dark no matter how long I wait. However, if I leave it plugged in it eventually starts up by itself. My ROM is cm-11-20140705-NIGHTLY-acclaim but I have had this problem since 10.2.1. Here is what I have tried:
• I tried two different 32 GB cards (formatted with Minitool Partition Manager). Both sdcards are SanDisk Class 4 or better. I tried two different 32 GB cards (formatted with Minitool Partition Manager).
• It doesn't manner what is on the card. I have tried a card that only contained flash_recovery_6.0.3.7_sdcard.zip and the NT still doesn't boot. I was able to flash that and the SD flashed recovery seems to work, but I still can't get the NT to boot as long as that card is installed.
• I have tried plugging the NT into the charger while trying to boot and I can't boot with the Power button, but if I leave it in the charger for a while it boots by itself even though the card is plugged in.
• ES file manager can "see" everything on the card when the tablet is running and all apps seem to run fine.
While this is not such a big deal, I sure would like to be able to press the power key and have the NT boot up with the card installed.
Any ideas?

I am going to assume you have CM-11-20140705-NIGHTLY-acclaim installed on EMMC internal. I am currently running CM-11-20140708-SNAPSHOT-M8-acclaim on EMMC internal with CWM v6.0.4.8. The only thing I can say to try, and I have done a lot to my Nook, is formatting your SD card with -- SD Formatter 4.0 for SD/SDHC/SDXC. I wasn't sure to add the external link but if you Google that exactly you'll get right to it. I have had no issues with numerous cards from 8gb to 32gb. Once I did that, I also erased the SD card when I was fully booted into CM, under settings - storage. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the comment.
I have found the reason why the NT won't boot. I overlooked the fact that I still had the MLO and uboot.bin files in the root of the sdcard from the bad old days. I deleted them and now the tablet boots up even when the card is installed. So that problem is solved.
Now I have to figure out why the sdcard normal, the sdcard recovery, and the sdcard alternate boot images are grayed out in the boot menu. Again, not a big deal because I can boot into emmc recovery where I have CWM Recovery 6.0.48 installed. I just don't like when things don't work as they should. If I can't figure out why, I'll start a new thread for this problem.
I believe those only show up when you are booting off a properly setup sdcard. I've never seen mine lit up on my nook color or nook tablet in all the years I've used them. So I think you are good to go.

[Q] SD Card not being detected in recovery mode

Hi people...
I've recently used Odin to flash stock 4.1.2 firmware (Baseband: i8160XXNB1; Build Number: J2054k.i8160XXNB1) into my Galaxy Ace 2 GT - i8160. All went well, phone booted and all, working perfectly fine.
But then i entered the recovery mode to install the rooting zip by 'shaaan' but i found out that my external SD Card is not being detected at all. Confused, i tried formatting the SD Card multiple times, formatted in NTFS, FAT, FAT32 and even exFAT. As it turned out, my recovery mode isn't detecting the files and folders present in the SD Card in any of these formats. I tried it in my Tab 3 and it worked. So i believe the problem is in the firmware i Odin-ed?
Any help? Anyone with a baseband which is known to have a working recovery mode?
Just in case it doesn't seem obvious, my phone has a stock recovery at the moment.
ADB doesn't work either... can't push files, protocol fault in sideload mode.
Thanks in advance... Hope to get a helpful reply soon.
Regards

Lineage OS - Installed on SD Card Instead of Internal Memory

If this is not the correct thread, please advise.
Samsung GT-P5113
Rooted successfully
Previous - Android Jellybean 4.2.2
Current - Lineage 6.0.1 - Version 13.0.20170826-NIGHTLY-expressowifi
The Lineage install modified external SD card to be the dedicated internal storage installed platform with OS running on the SD card. I can no longer see the SD card as an external device in USB Windows connection. Basically it is messed up. Unfortunately backup is no longer avail. CWM is now installed.
Please please advise how to correct.
Thanks ahead of time
Steve
I will reply to myself since no one else will
Steve,
Android JellyBean 4.2.2 is gone since your initial backup is corrupted. If you want to re-install that ROM, you can take the gamble on finding it on the internet but the amount of malicious sites falsely stating it is on their site is too high to take gamble. Go find a stable official custom ROM.
You have two options available for using an SD card. Use it as part of the system memory or use it as portable memory. Either way, I have not found a successful way of connecting a usb cable and directly reading\writing to the portable memory. You can remove and place in a memory reader with another device but the USB connection has failed miserably with the custom ROMs. ADB is supposedly an option but I did not get it to work via USB cable.
Your on your own here.
Good Fortune

SD-Card isn't supported and can't be formatted on Nougat.

I got this problem after try several N custom roms, but never faced this before. I've tried to format the sd-card from device as portable storage but it's stuck at 20% then appears error notice (as seen on the pict. no.1), so does with "format as internal storage" with longer time (picture no.2).
Tried back to my stock rom (Kitkat) but my sd-card still not supported.
As a note, my sd-card reads fine on pc and other device as fat32. Some other sd-card works fine on my device and the other same as mine, unssuported.
I've tried many way such mini partition tools, etc.
My sd-card is unmounted/unreadable by Aparted nor TWRP.
Wish someone knows the meaning of the error toast notif at the attachment and could help me.
Cheers :')
