Previous - Android Jellybean 4.2.2
Current - Lineage 6.0.1 - Version 13.0.20170826-NIGHTLY-expressowifi
The Lineage install modified external SD card to be the dedicated internal storage installed platform with OS running on the SD card. I can no longer see the SD card as an external device in USB Windows connection. Basically it is messed up. Unfortunately backup is no longer avail. CWM is now installed.
Please please advise how to correct.
Thanks ahead of time

I will reply to myself since no one else will
Steve,
Android JellyBean 4.2.2 is gone since your initial backup is corrupted. If you want to re-install that ROM, you can take the gamble on finding it on the internet but the amount of malicious sites falsely stating it is on their site is too high to take gamble. Go find a stable official custom ROM.
You have two options available for using an SD card. Use it as part of the system memory or use it as portable memory. Either way, I have not found a successful way of connecting a usb cable and directly reading\writing to the portable memory. You can remove and place in a memory reader with another device but the USB connection has failed miserably with the custom ROMs. ADB is supposedly an option but I did not get it to work via USB cable.
Your on your own here.
Good Fortune
Your buddy

I like to keep some HD movies on my SD card. While 720 or 1080p isn't necessary on the phone I use it to playback via HDMI to large screens.
Most files are 4GB+ and I'd like to put them on the SD card which is formatted exFat and can accept the files (windows can copy onto fine)
The problem is Air Kies or Airdroid dont' give access to the external SD card so they see useless.
Using the cable (MTP) I can copy large files to the phone storage but to the SD card storage one gets an error
"Cannot copy *filename*"
It's file size is larger than the device limit.
So It seems the phone is telling the PC a limit. The phone is too stupid to realize the card is in exFat and can accept the file.
It's a factory Jelly Bean rom, I'd rather not root or put custom firmware on if I can avoid it. Just looking for a work around without having to take the card out, find a micro SD adapter, put it in my laptop and copy via wifi (slow) form my media PC.
So much for Androids 'drag and drop' simplicity when using a cable.
Default JB Kernel from Samsung doesn't load exFAT module when the smartphone starts.
You can use a custom kernel for that, like Siyah 1.7 :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709686
In the features list, we have :
•Samsung proprietary ExFat modules are loaded. Don't ask about ExFat support for aosp roms in this thread.
Cheers,
If that is the case, how does the Samsung Factory JB Rom/Kernel then read & write to the exFat SD without any problem? Ie I can copy anything (10GB MKV's etc) to the SD card via the PC and put it in the phone and it works fine.
What your saying does sort of make sense in that the MTP driver/whatever within the phone knows nothing about exFat and assumes Fat32 and as such does not allow over size files to be written to the SD card.
(Out of curiosity what file system does the phone storage it self use?)
However as the card can be read etc via the phone, it must have exFat ability to do this?
Have they just left exFat ability 'partly' there but left other features of the phone (ie MTP transfer) unaware of it? So much fail! haha
I'm certain before updating I was able to large files without a problem? Have Samsung crippled the phone with JB updates?
I'm starting to think the ICS was better, better standby battery etc, issues like this etc.
I'll look at the custom rom. Kind of silly one has to hack their phone with 2 year warranty to get abilities that were previously available, well done Samsung haha.
Hi all.
Here's the situation:
I have a 32 gb Sandisk (unsure of the class) sd card I've used with 2 different phones for at least over a year now. I took the card out of my phone to connect it through my laptops built in card reader for the purpose of transferring large files (card reader speeds are much faster than usb mounting through the phone for me). When I put it in the computer Windows wouldn't recognize it. Now it won't mount in my phone at all, and it won't work correctly on my PC. When I connect it to my computer it says the card needs to be formatted before use, but then when I go to format it, it shows up on the Windows formatting screen as only having a 30.6 mb capacity and I get the message "Windows was unable to complete the format" whenever I try to format it, no matter the settings.
So my question is, how do I get the darn thing to work again? I think something must have happened between shutting my phone down to remove it and putting it in my computer. I just don't know what. Anyone else ever experience this? (I've already given up on recovering all of my files, but if it's possible to save them that would be amazing )
Things I've tried:
formatting via Windows
formatting via android
formatting /external_sd via Clockworkmod recovery
a couple different data recovery/partitioning programs (Partition Wizard and PhotoRec/TestDisk
also using "chkdsk" in windows command prompt returns saying that the disk is in the "RAW" format.
Additional info:
Phone: Motorola Droid RAZR HD (XT926) (Verizon)
ROM: XenonHD 11.01 (Android version 4.2.2, AOSP based)
Sorry if this is more lengthy than necessary, just trying to be thorough and cover all the bases!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hey all, I know this has been asked a ton of times, but I couldn't find an answer for my problem... so maybe someone could help me out.
I'm having issues connecting my SG3 to my PCs.
I've tried with USB debugging on/off, restarting the phone, removing the battery, download mode and recovery mode. On three PCs, Windows 8 and 7.
The odd thing is that it does connect sometimes, maybe for 10 seconds and then I get the windows sound like the device was removed. Sometimes it only connects as charging, sometimes it doesn't even do that.
I'm wondering if the OS could be a problem (I bought it unlocked, looks like they rooted it and installed a custom OS though):
Model number:
GT-19300
Android version:
4.2.2
Baseband:
I9300XXUFME7
Kernel:
3.0.31-702147
[email protected] #1
Build:
JDQ39.I9300XXEFME7
I also have CWN Manager 3.5 (though it gives me an error that it should be used with CF-CWM 1.1 or higher, don't know my version)
SuperSu is also installed.
Is there any way to figure out what ROM was installed?
I tried changing my external SD to mass storage with SGS3 Easy UMS, but that didn't help either.
Also, tomorrow I'm going to see if I can test with a different cable (though I've been using the factory one).
Can I maybe change my OS without PC (I can send files over Airdroid)?
Any ideas?
Don't you have a sd card adapter to use to transfer files to your card from pc? If you do or can transfer files onto the sd card read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002953 install recovery as per instructions in thread...Download a rom put it on your sd card and flash with PhilZ recovery (from the thread)..That was a quick guide!! Before flashing a rom read as much as you can on the subject to make sure you know what you are doing This might not cure your usb problem but it will install another rom if that's what you want

Ah, good idea. Yeah, I have an adapter. I'm going to do some reading before doing anything. Thanks.
Hey, just wanted to follow up that it was simply a bad cable. Odd because it came with the device, but a friend's cable worked right way with these drivers:

Anyways, thanks for the help.
Hello guys, I have recently found this out but as I use XInternal SD to switch Internal and External Storages, when i connect my device to PC the MTP Device doesnt show up, The OnePlus Drivers does work however, this has been going on since a long time, but i just thought that it was probably broken drivers, but recently as I formatted and clean installed my Windows (8.1 x64) and installed the OnePlus drivers, but the problem has still persisted. I relized that it was the module when i was clean flashing my Stock ROM, i forgot to copy Xposed & SuperSU zips therefore i connected my device to PC *after booting in Stock Oxygen OS* and sure enough now MTP did work.
Well the obvious solution is to not use the module but I cannot keep all my data in the Internal Storage, i need everything in my SD Card, so can anyone think of a workaround or something for this ?
Thanks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=64765463 it probably might solve it but I don't know
Dear friends and ring leaders, I removed my OS (Paranoid Android 6) without doing a backup. Now my phone has no OS and I think since i didn't authorize USB debugging, my device comes as unauthorized in ADB. How do i authorize my device without an operating system.
- I have TWRP 2.8.7 installed.
- I am able to connect the device through USB - both the internal memory and SD card show up.
- Problem with my phone USB port so cannot use USB OTG
- Able to copy to the SD card however, copying to Internal memory stops half way each time..
- Trying to install through SD card fails each time - While the device is mounted and i can access it via TWRP - exits with the message unable to mount.
- HELP!! Using a nokia 150 as my daily driver
Disclaimer - I have been a novice at using custom roms and have limited success installing them on multiple phones. Successes - PA 6 on onyx and CM 13 on Moto G 2013.
I appreciate your patience if this post has already been covered. I tried searching through google search on XDA but was unable to find something similar.
