[Q] Root problem - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
i have problem with rooting both my phones (HTC Desire X and Huawei Ideos X3). My OS is Win8.1 and when I try to root my HTC, it always stucks on waiting for device when getting token id ... I think it is a driver issue, but i have drivers alredy installed. When i plug my htc in usb, its under android devices - my htc (in device manager), but when getting token id, the phone turns off, boots to fastboot and in device manager its under usbs - windows cannot recognize it. Same for the Ideos - when booted to fastboot, even if I have installed drivers, windows doesnt see it properly. I always plug it in USB 2.0.
I have tried everything. Please help! Thank you.

[Q] Qualcomm driver to USB Input Device...

Everytime I try to do the upgrade from AT&T 1.6 to 2.2, I'm getting stuck with the drivers..uggg so frustrating. Hoping someone can help me. Here is what is happening:
I'm using Windows 7 64bit.
Used the QDL Tool guide , specifically for 64bit
Downloaded the QDL Tool along with the ADb drivers
When I plug my phone into the computer, get the pop up box in the lower right for "installing drivers." This is where I am having a problem. It does show it's trying to install the Qualcomm drivers.... but no matter what I do to stop the installation...it just keeps going. Then when it finishes, it says the drivers were installed correctly for USB Input Device...uggggggggggg
I finally found that in the device manager (because I never got the Other Devices designation in the Device Manager).....instead it comes up under Human Interface Devices...lol
Thoughts?

USB Device not recognized / Unknown Device

I'm having an issue where my thunderbolt does not recognize my device any longer. I used to have it set up with pdanet and everything worked well for about a week. All of a sudden, any computer i tried to plug the device into, wouldn't detect the phone. A friend of mine has tried his thunderbolt on my computer and it detects it.
When plugging my phone in, it pops up an error message with "USB Device not Recognized." In the device manager, the phone shows up as Unknown Device. I have tried this on 3 different pc's, using 3 different data cables. No USB symbol displays on the taskbar of the phone when I plug it in, however, it does charge.
What I have tried:
Changing data cables.
Using another PC.
Uninstalling device drivers and letting windows re-detect and install.
Downloaded HTC Sync and ran it after uninstalling drivers again and re-plugging the phone.
Changed different Connection settings on the phone, such as USB Debuggin on/off, and changing it to HTC Sync Mode, Charge Only, Disk Drive, etc
Mounted and unmounted SD Card in the phone settings.
OS: Windows 7 x64
Thank you for any help you may provide.
same problem
I have the same problem with HTC mytouch 3g 32B Android 2.2.1 when I plug it through usb under Vista.
Any suggestions?
Try installing the usb drivers from htc if you haven't.
http://dl4.htc.com/RomCode/Source_and_Binaries/USB_driver_20101122_release.zip
I have download the HTC usb drivers but when i go to control panel and uninstall the unknown device it just reinstalls it. when i try to update drivers using the location
ie C:\Users\sxristi\Downloads\android-usb-driver\Android USB Driver\i386
i get a reply
The best software for you device is already installed. Windows has determined that the driver software for your device is up to date.
and it continues to point to
unknown device
Oh one more things i got the usb drivers from Android SDK Manager the google usb drivers revision 4 and the weird thing is that i do not get the trident usb nor the debug icon on my HTC when i plug it in to my vista. I did get it once or twice before but not in general since the usb devices are not recognized. However when i boot on my Ubuntu os then i do get them recognized. so i guess the problem is with windows drivers somehow...
Thanks for the replies.
I've tried to install the drivers from HTC but Windows says that the driver is not compatible with my the device.
Also, I tried on a system with Windows XP and everything worked as intended, but I cannot get it to work properly in Win 7 x64 anymore.
When my win7 comp no longer sees my Tbolt I have to toggle the USB Debugging off then back on. Usually within a few seconds it reads it again. If that does not work I have also used the option to turn on internet pass through then change it back to hard drive mode. Either of those usually work for me. My drivers I used were from android sdk if that makes any difference. Hope this helps.

These didn't work, but thanks for the input
HTC
My problem continues under Vista OS. I called HTC and they told me to re install their Sync after removing Adobe Air and all HTC drivers and Google USB drivers. I did that and reinstalled Sync and still nothing. They also told me to call microsoft for it seems operating system conflict.
My conclusion yields toward windows conflict. But I can not figure out this conflict. Perhaps something I have installed does not let my vista recognize the HTC android device and uses the windows usb drivers to create this "Unknown Device" under usb serial bus controllers. once it is an unknown device forget about Sync or ADB etc... The phone is just not recognized as android and you can not do much with it via windows.
For the person who suggested to turn "USB Debugging" on-off, i did that and still the computer recognizes that there is a usb device but again it says "usb device not recognized unknown device.."
any additional suggestions???
I've verified that my phone works fine on Windows XP. I still cannot connect to windows 7, though.
Try turning OFF Fast Boot and turning ON USB debugging. this helped for me.
same problem
I have a similar problem too .. i know its not the computer as other phones and pen drives are working ok.
Plus this phone has same problem on other computers too, where as other phones work fine.
So it has to do something with the phone and not the drivers or computer in anyway
I have the same problem, no PC recognizes my HTC Thunderbolt. Now change cable and tried with windows xp, 7 and 8. Is there any solution I can not root. I want to change the rom factory rom I do not like but I can not do anything because I do not recognize the usb. Also the menu does not appear when I connect via USB in the notification bar.

[Q] Help trying to root with Hasoon2000's toolkit

For whatever reason, when I'm trying to get my Token ID, I get as far as entering fastboot, and when trying to get the second command prompt to retrieve my token, it just gets stuck at "Waiting for Device".
I've made sure I'm using a USB 2.0 port ON THE BACKSIDE of my PC (I've tried 3.0, and front ports as well, all yield the same results)
USB debugging IS ENABLED.
I've tried with, and without fastboot disabled.
I've tried uninstalling ALL android related drivers on my PC, and re installing ONLY the HTC ones (I have a rooted nexus 7 2013 as well)
nothing seems to make a difference, everything works great right up until my device reboots into fastboot, then it becomes unrecognisable.
At the same time, windows shows a failed driver installation ONLY AFTER I unplug the device, and it shows it trying to install "HTC MTP DEVICE".
I've run out of ideas for a way to fix this by now, anyone have any other suggestions?
Try getting your token without the toolkit using fastboot. There's instructions on the HTC dev site
I attempted that as well, all it did was make me manually preform the same commands the toolkit did on it's own.
No luck with that either.
Edit: THANK GOD I FINALLY GOT IT WORKING!!!!!
When my phone boots into bootloade,r it runs on an "Android 1.0" driver. I went into my device manager, and updated that "Android 1.0 device" with the drivers located here, and everything magically connected, and I can now get my token ID!!!
suggests tractor
Also, if you have any more problems with it not showing up under devices try to unplug/plugin your USB cable. I have weird driver problems on Windows sometimes.

Windows does not recognize fastboot drivers

Hello,
exactly I would like to open my Bootloader followed this guidance https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...bootloader-oeffnen-und-schliessen.384769.html but as soon as I switch to the fastboot in the mobile phone my laptop does not recognize the phone. I downloaded the latest HTC driver and HTC Sync and Java. In the Device Manager it says Unknown Device Code 43 and Windows gets this message USB device was not detected. Before that I did not have any programs or drivers from HTC.
Thx

My PC doesn't recognize my POCO F1 in FASTBOOT mode.

Hi, I have a problem that my PC doesn't recognize my POCO F1 in FASTBOOT mode.
I'm running Win 10 64bit (Core i7-3517U), my phone is Global stable 11.6.0. bootloader is NOT unlocked and there is no root.
The main problem: When I try to connect my phone in FASTBOOT mode to my PC and go to System Manager it shows an exclamation mark, not a question mark like it would if you just didn't have the drivers. It also says "The device has been stopped (Code 43) (the other error codes are in the attachments given below) A request for the USB device descriptor failed." I guess this means it's not a simple matter of missing drivers, even if my phone is connected normally, it does not show up or connect to the Mi PC Suite. Normally, if you plug in a new device without drivers, Windows at least recognizes whether it's a printer, headset, mouse or whatever and starts looking for appropriate drivers, but not here.*Whenever I put my phone on FASTBOOT mode, it never gets recognised it just shows an exclamation with a dialogue box that says that "The last USB device you connected to the computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognise it" (screenshots provided in the attachments below with normal my phone on normal mode and fastboot mode please go through them)
What I have already tried based on my previous research, but with no success:
different computers, windows and Mac
different usb cords
usb debugging on/off
all usb modes (MTP, file transfer etc.)
usb 2.0 and 3.0 ports
re-installing Mi PC suite
resetting my phone
resetting my Windows 10 pc
and none of the above seem to work.
I also spoke with a friend and tried connecting their phone (Redmi Note 5 Pro) on fastboot mode to my Windows Pc and the Mac and it works!
but my POCO F1 does NOT get recognised.
I live in Pune, Maharashtra in India
and there's a huge lockdown, like there is, all over the world
I can't actually go out and visit a service center and fix this anytime now. i need some serious urgent help on this, I'm willing to do anything to fix this at home. I just need assistance and i need some sort of external guidance. Please, please help me with this matter.

If you still not able to find a way pls follow this video. Thanks
Was it ever resolved ? I had similar issue with my POCO F1. it was working fine in ADB but not getting detected in FASTBOOT. Every time I connected it in fastboot it showed a message USB device not recognized. drivers and all were fine. Code 43 was also there in device manager.
I was able to fix it by using Bugjaeger Premium on my spare Samsung rooted android 10 phone with OTG since my spare phone has micro USB.
POCO F1 was also not getting detected first then I did a factory reset, and MIUI recovery wipe and simply disconnected the cable and rebooted poco f1 using volume down and power button and voila it got detected in my samsung phone then i flashed TWRP.
