Hey, I have this venue for a while now and I'm wondering if there is anything to do with it besides rooting? Any Roms or kernels that have/are developed?

EDIT: If anyone sends roms or kernels that they cooked I will edit them in so that anybody can find them easily.
I'm also thinking about developing my own rom for the venue, though I'm not sure how to develop for this platform

I wish I could tell you we have but there's none... Actually this whole forum about Venue has Roms developed for the old venue phone. ok wondering if anyone still has a streak with donut installed ?(4399 preferably) that could tar up their system folder for me... am looking to make a pretty vannilla donut build buit im going to need files from dells donut for some things

haha imdoing dev for itdroid and streak now, nitdroid farrr easier since nokia are actually open about their devices unlike dell
even then the radio is still a pain...

yea they did, if you count releasing a hlaf baked 1.6 kernel thats not even buildable using streaks actual kernel config as released
Hey there fellow streakers and power users, was wondering if anyone out there knows how I can get gingerbread on my streak. Apparently there are some really neat improvements when compared to froyo so it would be nice to try.
I have a dell streak from o2 unlocked with 2.2 froyo currently running on it. It hasn't been rooted as I can't find any sensible how to's on getting the original ota froyo rooted. Any help or pointers would be highly appreciated thanks.
Ps: this is my first post.
Not yet there is one name is the development of streak Roms and such and its dj Steve and he has only put out a great 2.2 froyo OS this far.

Glad to hear that I don't think there is a great difference between 2.2 and 2.3 but the difference between 2.2 and 3.0 will be huge.

Thanks for the comment. That's really sad though. Would have loved to upgrade from 2.2 froyo. Now we have to wait ages for 3.0's release and then wait again for our rom saviour djSteve to sort us out.
Oh well, I guess I'll have to find something else to Tinker with on my dell streak until that time. Has anyone rooted original froyo yet? Why is the streak soooo difficult to hack/root. When I had the iphone I jailbroke it the same day I got it. IV had the streak a month now and still don't know how its done. I tried superboot and got stuck on the dell screen. IV heard soo much about the huge difference with rooted phones and custom roms. I want hands on. Pls, someone tell me it is possible to get root access on my streak and show me how. Thanks.
I haven't rooted mine but I have seen lots of info on it right here on and on Streakzoid I Believe.

Your right 'that1dude', there are many guides. Stoney73, I followed one of them only to get stuck on the dell screen which freaked me out so I am more inclined to follow a simpler method. U know, one for click and paste morons... not saying that I am one but after that experience I learnt that one can easily go from owning a dell streak to owning a dell brick.

sorry budd but your choice is very limited to only one dedicated dev DJsteve. i went to verizon not too long ago and snapped a free droid x and couldnt be happier. if u decide to upgrade to DJ's rom be aware even with the recent 1.6.1 its still buggy. in comparison im running custom rom by liberty and encounter zero problems. Streak is a fine contender for smart phone but too bad and a shame people overlook it.

LOL 1.6.1 is not buggy zero problems here and I have been using it for 20 days.
Upgrade to streakdroid 1.6.1 its amazing if u need help doing that pm me I just upgrade mine and the steps are fresh in my mind.

i don't have understend 1 thing..
1) I read that I download and replace the baseband in the baseband of 1.5 before flashing the 1.6 ... but how do I replace?
2)the ROM 1.6 (dj steve) is compatible with the Rebel Sim or I have to make some changes to make it compatible? if so, what change?

I'm getting one of these for free with my Dell laptop and I wanted to try Ubuntu touch. I'd rather not try and put in on my phone because I need a working phone all the time, but this is an extra tablet I don't care about and want to try out different OS's.
