Hi everyone!
I have (what I think is) a huge problem on my phone and after looking in tons of forums for solutions I found that the people here seem to really be able to help me.
I'm new to android phones... So please bare with me...
So I bought this phone in second hand from a friend who was in need of some cash for college (I don't really like to buy used stuff but...), and it came rooted with cyanogenMod7 but I was having trouble cause the phone wouldn't recognize my sd card and I couldn't connect it to my pc so I tryed to change it back to its original settings...
Its a vodafone 845 (huawei U8120)..
A friend of mine tried to help and we found this recovery menu (Clockwork recovery v3) and he chose some format options (format boot, system and data) and now the phone is useless! It still doesn't recognize my SD card or my pc, I can get into this recovery menu again but cant seem to fix the problem!
Other than that all the phone does is show the initial hourglass forever...
I would be so gratefull if someone could help! Thank you in advance!

Well you wiped the phone, so there's nothing to boot into.
You need to put a rom on the root of the SD card (not in any folders). Make sure the rom is made for your device. Boot into recovery and flash the rom, you should have a working phone after that.
Thank you for you help!
Now the only problem that stands is that the phone doesn't mount my sd card... Its an 8gb kingston, maybe I should get one with less capacity? The previous owner used a 4gb card and she said she never had any trouble regarding that...
Although the phone specifications on the net say it can handle cards up to 16gb :S
Have you tried mounting the SD card in clockwork mod as the usb disk drive?
Its found under mounts/storage.
sent from my legend, currently using extream legend fuse™
Ok guys, I've gotten as far as flashing the rom!!
Made huge progress in exchange for several hours of sleep xD
Now the only problem that stands is that when I choose the option "flash zip from sd card" I get this:
"E: No signature (242 files)
E: verification failed
Installation aborted"
And I'm lost again, yet soooo close to fixing my phone! :/

There should be an option somewhere to turn off signature verification. If you can find that option, toggle it off and try again.
You should try installing the original Firmware.Or Reinstall CM7
I got very similar problem. Have u tried to install different sd card. Maybe current one is broken like in my case?
Note: I do not have this device
See [GUIDE]All Huawei new&old phones-Install Stock Rom-Full Reset
Procedure:
1) Download stock ROM from HERE (im guessing you want Vodaphone UK)
2) Format your SD card to FAT32 (plug it into computer, right click on device, format, follow instructions)
3) Create the folder "dload" (without the quotes of course) on to the root (top level) of your SD card.
3) Extract the UPDATE.APP from the stock ROM and place it in "dload"
4) Power off your phone and put sd card in.
5) Power on by pressing POWER+RED_BUTTON+VOLUME_UP
If done correctly you will see a progress bar saying "UPDATING!"
Edit: this will reset the device to normal, however it will of course require a working SD Card. Try using a friends, try using your card in other devices (other phones, computers, etc).
To test SD Cards in your phone:
1) Insert Card
2) Boot into recovery
3) Go to Mounts & Storage menu
4) Plug device into computer
5) Choose "Mount sdcard over USB" (or similar)
6) If it shows up on the computer it is working, and you may as well use it to carry out the steps above
Note, if you are still checking for sdcard after resetting the phone, you will need to devise another method as the recovery will be replaced. For example use the storage menu in system settings, as this will show stats on the sdcard if it is readable.
My phone is working!
The problem with the SD card was that it was password protected, so I used another phone to disable the password, about the ROM, i just picked another one, I actually found it here on XDA! The celestial teapot, I really like it
Now all I want to know is if its possible to have multitouch on my phone?
And by the way, THANK YOU ALL for your help guys! You're awsome!

No problem, glad to help. Glad you got everything up and running too Multitouch is included in the kernel (at least on my device). If you can find a custom kernel for your phone, make sure it's compatible with your rom. I'm not familiar with your phone, so you'll need to do some checking on kernels. I'm not sure if multitouch is also a hardware limitation or not, so if you don't have multitouch at all it may not be possible. Kernels determine the number of touch points on my phone, if you don't have it at all then it may not be possible or there may be another mod for it.
If you can flash a custom kernel to achieve this, remember to do a nandroid backup first. Always do a backup when flashing anything. If they start to take up too much space, delete the old ones and just keep the most recent. Also remember to only wipe dalvik and cache when flashing a kernel.
Again, since I'm not familiar with your phone you'll need to do some research on these things first. The best thing you can do is read, read, and read some more. If you get stuck again, the good people here will always be able to help you out.
Hello ,so i have samsung galaxy s2 with miui jb rom..
i connected an pendrive through usb otg cable but when mounted it shows it is corrupted and need to be formatted.
so i confirmed this operation and it starts to format..
after format
VOILLA MY INTERNAL SD CARD GOT FORMATTED INSTEAD OF USB ONE WHICH I HAVE MOUNTED THROUGH USB OTG CABLE..
I have no backup and i have lost all my data on internal sd storage... photos, music, videos, other data such as text documents , pdf documents , tar files of recovery etc.
its very very sad for me as i have collection of all memories as photos and videos...
I'm very tensed..
please help me to recover back all my data ..
after format there is no data stored on internal storage means no over write of any data so i have that my data can be backuped up..
i've tried couple of softwares to backup my data but one of softwares called "photorec" is able to recover only 2.5GB and also in random named folders with random data...
everything is finished..
please... it will be great of you to solve my this problem..
is there any way to UNDO this operation?? I mean can we UNFORMATthe internal storage ???
really need your advices and solutions
thanks..
Yes solution is simple.
Go back in time.
Backup data like any sane person would have done.
If your files were that important why didnt you do simple things like make backups to your PC or even just via dropbox app that automatically uploads photo's via wifi?
Try a partition recovery software.
If you cant fix I have no sympathy since its easy to make backups of needed data. No excuse really.

I did give you expert advice. I am an expert in backing up my data in case of device problem or if I somehow decide to format my card.
As I said earlier try a partition recovery software.
Expert Advice:
Follow XDA rule #1 and use search. We have many topics about users formatting cards and then needing to recover data. This is a non-device specific topic so search whole site or even google.
Well you coud try Testdisk and Photorec
the site is cgsecurity
Or option 2 try recuva with deep scan enabled, also the option to scan for lost or damaged files should be turned on.

- Connect your phone trough USB cable and activate mass storage mode
- Depending on what files are lost (probably photos and videos), look for format recover software (Like recovery my files)
- Use it on mounted SD card
PS:
If you have used some part of your internal sd card after formatting, you probably lost some files forever, if you haven't yet, DON'T USE IT BEFORE RECOVERY !!

Give some app suggestions is fine. Once we have those, we know the key terms to search for.
I've tried cg-security apps, they're made for Windows/Linux/BSD etc, but won't install on android.
I tried aidfile installed on Windows but it won't detect the phone internal storage either.
I have all my photos.
I lost a database document that is 760mb. Most backupsoftware (Skydrive, Asus Webstorage, DropBox etc) won't upload it.
I sent the phone for warranty and they formatted my phone, and lost that document. I just need that back. It is in internal storage, there is no sd card on this android.
Try Recuva but don't get your hopes up. Not likely to work. If they've formatted the phone, it's gone. Android isn't like Windoze where 'files aren't really deleted'.
Edit - Also, beware of some (all ?) of the 'data recovery' apps on Google Play. Many (certainly the several I've tried) of the non-paid versions will go through their process of checking, and tell you that your file can be recovered, but you need to get the paid version of the app. You pay for the app, and then find they tell you the file recovers OK (funny about that, right ?) but is 'corrupted' (which is basically bull****, the file can't be recovered at all, but you paid for the app so they have to give you something, right ?) & useless. This scenario is highly likely in the case of a file like the one you're talking about if you do get suckered in by those apps.

You can't undo the formatted, but the data was not really gone, you still can use some data recovery tool to recover your photos.
You can try this guide about how to recover photos from Samsung Galaxy S II.
I recommend you backup your photos with Google Photos, it has 15GB free storage, I think it's enough for your 1 year's photos.

Hello,
I'm interested in encrypting my phone (rootbox 4.2) including the external SD Card (if that's possible..?) but i need to know if you do it, then let's say you take that sd card out of the phone and plug it in your pc, how do you access the data? And is that still impossible to unencrypt the phone after it was encrypted (i mean on last android versions)?
Thanks.
Never got any answer here... Still interested by any feeback : i need full encryption!
Yes it is possible to encrypt and unencrypt the phone and sd card or just the phone itself via the setting menu on your phone. To access encrypted files on a device or pc I don't think it is possible because your sd was encrypted with your phone. Here's also another website for more info type in( do you encrypt your sd card? android central) on your web browser.
Sorry but i don't get all you're saying, can you give a link? I'd like to encrypt everything AND being able to decrypt it on a PC whenever i want. That's probably possible but maybe not yet avalaible by user friendly methods..
Bump, if anyone knows more about all these things..
Hi,
I was browsing through recovery looking for the option to copy files into the sd card while in recovery, just so i didn't have to remove. Well, for some stupid mistake ( i still can't figure out why i even confirmed the option), i pressed the format sd card and when i realized it a second later i removed the card right away.
I don't think it really had time to delete anything or much, but when i inserted the card in my computer it said that the card should be formatted to be used and the same thing appeared on the phone, so im guessing some crucial file that allows me to use the card was deleted.
So, did i just lose all my data? Is there a way to recover the card files?
Thanks in advance!

Removing it while erasing might have had corrupted the data, too. Unless there's some magic software which can check for deleted files on these types of SD cards.
you can recover your deleted data by downloading "diskdigger" from google play in my opinion it's the best app for this issue.. another app is "undeleted for root users"... you can recover photos, videos, and some texts.....
If this reply helped you don't miss to press thanks Buttom to know ?

Keep in mind these might not work as the phone cannot access the card or file system of it, this is why it appears as an unformated card and the phone or computer cannot do anything with it besides reformatting

Try active file recovery software
Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300
Rom: Archidroid v2.4.6

Hi
Thank you all for the replies.
I ended up using a recovery software to retrieve the files, since they were all still there because i stopped the formating process right away.
So, recovered the files, formated the card and put the files back.
I was hoping i could just restore the filesystem and those files, but that was the only solution i got at the time.
Thank you all for the help and suggestion!
Recovery of accidentally formatted SD card is possible in couple of minutes. By means of Remo Recover tool, you can get back files lost from SD, CF, MMC and XD cards.

You can try out this application as shown here, youtu.be/sk8vPyUV9YY
I recently did a backup with TWRP and then played a new firmware on it with LG UP. After that, I had to unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP on it again. In this process, all my data were deleted, so I restored them from my backup.
This worked well, but after I booted it again, it doesn't accept my PIN. My fingerprint is recognized, but I have to type in the PIN once after booting, and my old one doesn't work. It just states "Try again".
As far as I can see it from the lock screen, all my apps and setting are the same as before.
I don't have an internet connection with it and I can't activate it as this would require typing in the right PIN code. Same for ADB and MTP mode, but I can access the file system through TWRP. I don't want to remove the PIN by deleting the key files in /data/system, because my sd card is encrypted and I don't want to lose the data on it.
Is there a way to either to bypass the PIN without deleting the keystore files or decrypt the sd card manually with my PIN? I don't know if this matters, but there is a folder called .ecryptfs on my sd card, and the first two bytes of the file in there are identical with the first two bytes of a Linux wrapped-passphrase file. Is is possible that Android uses eCryptFS as well? If yes, shouldn't it be possible to extract the passphrase and decrypt the data with it? At least this works on Linux with eCryptFS ...
I hope this was clear enough If not, I will provide any missing details.
Thank you in advance for any idea :fingers-crossed:.
Can you access adb I'm twrp? If so, try these:
Make sure to mount/data first...
adb shell mount -o rw,remount /data
And I don't think you have to but if you get an error about read only filesystem or something, mount system too...
adb shell mount -o rw,remount /system

Yes, I can copy them to my computer. I used the Android setting to encrypt the SD card, and I have no idea how to decrypt them manually. I searched for a way, but all I found was "not possible" .
I do have my PIN, and I have access to all data which are not on my SD card (well, I have access to them, but they're encrypted). I think it should be possible to decrypt my files with these two factors. I just don't know enough about Android and what kind of encryption it uses for the external storage locations. It's file based, as I can see every single file on my SD card - I just can't open them. I tried, but they're encrypted and therefore just more or less random bytes.
Android Open Source Project has a some information about the encryption used for the internal storage, but nothing about the external storage.
If you have any idea how to decrypt the files - please tell me

If you mean the salt: it is stored in /data/system/locksettings.db. This is the file that has to be deleted to remove the PIN. I tried setting the salt in the new file (created after the first startup of the system after deleting this file) to the old value, but there is no salt at all without a PIN (I tried adding a line with the old salt, but it gets overwritten as I set a new password), and if I change the salt after I set my new PIN, I can't login again.
