Hi all,
bought for my wife Padfone S but when she leaves home WiFi, data does not automatically turn on.
If I turn off WiFi manually, data gets connected automatically, but if she just leave the range of WiFi with WiFi still on, but out of reach, the phone doesn't connect to 3G even if I'll turn WiFi off & on, data on & off - only what helps is restart of the phone - then connects to the mobile data without problem.
Phone is new, not rooted, stock ROM.
Shall I send to service?
Thanks for any tips.

My girlfriend and i both have this phone, her's had the same problem in one of the first software versions. Then a restart would help, but after the latest updates this problem doesn't occur anymore.

What software version you have?
I've bought the phone in East Asia and can't update any more. But played with the APN settings & actually it helped - the default settings was strange and now it works.

Hello everybody!
Someone of you has noticed a poor WiFi reception on Hero?
I'm experiencing a poor WiFi reception in my house when Hero is connect to internet thru an access point.
What happen is that after WiFi connection has been established the phone tends to loose it and restart connection thru GSM/3G link.
That happen also if phone stay in the same place without moving around and also when phone is close to access point location.
Any idea about way to solve the problem?
Regards.

Just an upgrade on issue...
If I turn off data connection thru GSM/3G and switch on WiFi seem that WiFi connection is stable so maybe issue come when both data connection are enabled...
Anyway is annoying shout down each time data connection on GSM/3D and power on WiFi!
Regards.
i believe wifi goes idle when not in use. so it connect to 3g or edge. However there is an app if not various in the market already to help keep wifi always on..
Do a search for wifi and see for yourself.

Thanks for suggestion!
At now I've solved turning off GSM/3G data connection when I'm at home anyway I guess that WiFi reception sometimes go away due to issue of the phone or maybe as way to save battery...
when that happen phone stay unconnected so I guess that should be better if I will check for apps that keep WiFi connection always working!
Alex
when the device goes into standby, the wifi is turned off to save battery poweer, and it will go back to 3G.
go into the wifi settings, press menu and select advanced.
select the timeout options
set to never and it will not turn off when in standby.
problem solved and you shouldn't have to turn off Mobile data, although with the settings widget on your homescreen turning mobile data off off each time is hardly going to ruin your life. in fact i tend to do this anyway, just cos i have spent too many years with windows mobile....
Here's an annoying bug I've found tho - on TMob UK
If I send an MMS from home, wifi on, it sits there, and doesn't send the message. Until I turn off wifi and 3G kicks in again.
Now I know for a fact that on my Magic, it was able to turn on 3g/HSPDA to send the message all by itself. Might have a look in thodse advanced settings tho to see if there is something I can do.. Not a biggie, just a bit of an annoyance.

I too, have been doing a search on Forums all over Google looking for a resolution to this.
I have noticed if Wi-Fi is enabled I am unable to send or receive MMS messages.
It is an annoyance having to turn Wi-Fi off each time also I am never to know if someone has tried to send a message in the first place.
Currently using T-Mobile G2 (rooted with MCR Rom 2.8) on T-Mobile UK
I’ve recently upgraded from an S2 to an S3 and have a slight issue. When I’m out the house and connected via a data connection (O2 giffgaff) all is great however when I get back home or to a saved wifi spot my phone will not automatically connect to it whilst the screen is off. I have to litterally wake the screen from sleep/lock mode to the home screen where I can see the data connection still on then soon after it will switch to WiFi with the connected confrimation message.
Surley I shouldnt have to wake my phone when coming in range to a saved WiFi point in order for it to connect to it, my S2 never had such issue and automatically connected to saved points. Earlier I went down to the shop and used the data connection whilst there, come back to work and hadn’t woke my phone for about half hour, turned it on and it started connecting to the wireless. The connection still works when the phone is in sleep/lock screen as I still recieve emails etc so it's not cutting of data connections completely when sleeping so I'm a bit puzzled by this, I haven't tested this vice versa WiFi to data but I'm sure there must be a simple setting somewhere.
Any help greatly appreciated.
I noticed this earlier on, I was out all day, returned home and wifi wouldn't auto connect, I had to disable and re enable wifi
Sent from my SGS3 on Omega v9.0 using XDA Premium
It's strange I can't quite work it out, I tested it the other way round and it seemed to automatically connect to mobile data when there was no saved WiFi in range so it only seems to be an issue with auto connecting to WiFi.
I'm going to try a few more tests.

You could try deleting the saved network and adding it again. It has happened to me before and that has fixed the problem.

Cheers, will give this ago and will let you know what happens :fingers-crossed:
I have an LG Optimus L9 P765 (Indian variant) with Stock ROM v10d on it.
WiFi on my set seems to be misbehaving. It connects to my network and works fine for sometime, but when I leave it unused for about say 5 minutes the mobile does not connects with my WiFi network.
In notification bar it shows that it is connected but actually there is no data transfer occurring.
Its very irritating as I don't get instant emails, whatsapp chats etc.
Is anybody else facing the same problem ? Please suggest any remedy for this problem.
Yeah, same problem here.
I've got an Indian P765 with V10d stock ROM as well. If left idle for sometime, the wi-fi seems to be connected but no data transfer occurs.
The small upward pointing triangle is shown on the wi-fi icon in the notification area, but the data transfer LED of the wi-fi modem doesn't blink, and so no webpage loads.
But if the wi-fi is being used continously, the problem doesn't occur.
Looking forward to a solution, thanks.
Edit: Reduced the Beacon Interval of the Wi-Fi modem to 100ms. The data connection is maintained now.
Problem solved. The phone's working fine afterall.
Before that happens go into wifi settings press the menu button hot advanced and turn the wifi sleeping policy off that is all that I can suggest

Beacon Interval of my WiFi modem is already 100ms.
Problem still persists.
Any solution anybody.
The only solution for now is to change WiFi sleep policy to Never instead of Always in WiFi settings.
But that turns on Mobile data or 3G (which ever you have) which is more battery consuming.
And there's no point of keeping a smartphone offline by disabling either WiFi or Mobile data.
P769BK has a different wifi issue. All 6 of mine have had this same issue.
Enable wifi and use if for a few hours. If wifi router looses internet access and you try to download an MMS it fails.
Disable wifi and try downloading MMS via cellular network it fails. Airplane mode toggle does not work.
A reboot is required to fix this. Very irritating when connected to a wifi network that has a bad connection.
Don't even get me started with wifi-calling. It just plain sucks on 4.x ROMs.
I use WidgetSoid which gives WIFI and 3G icon (also called power switches) on Home Screen and reconnecting is just a HALF SECOND deal for me. Its even quickly re-connectable from WiFi PowerSwitch in Notification Panel.
By the way, I did not notice this issue on my P765 (india) L9. Works well with Vodafone Mumbai 3G, and WiFi always connected even after idle time upto 2 hours mostly at home. Like they always say, results may vary.
Problem: WiFi is not useable

hi friend,
You already managed to solve your problem?. I have a similar problem, did the bootload and installed cyanongenmod 10.2 for P760 and everything worked perfectly, after I turn off my smartphone realized I was not connecting the wifi and even tapping the power button it does not turn on, put your smartphone in order factory original and still the problem continues.
Can someone help me?
Hello everybody,
I hope I can get my problem across:
I'm running my S2 on stock Android 4.04, not rooted.
After switching the phone on, I have access to the internet, and this is confirmed by the Edge/UMTS symbols witht the up/down arrows on the top of the screen.
As soon as I enter an area with a known WiFi connection (e.g. home ) the connection automatically switches over to WiFi.
Now for the problem:
After leaving home, the Edge/UMTS connection is not restored, I have to enter and leave flight mode automatically to get it back.
I had formerly installed Llama, but have removed it since, because I thought the problem was related to the program - behaviour has not changed.
I'd like the phone to switch automatically to the best available data connection.
Thanks
Robert

I'm having the same problem with an LG Optimus F6. Did you ever get this resolved with your phone?
My mother in law got an ATT Alpha and tried to connect to wifi. It will connect and immediately say wifi turned off. When you disable mobile data it enables wifi. That makes no sense... why would the phone favor mobile data.
How can we correct this? I have owned 5 Samsung devices and never seen this.

Beacuse the phone has a Smart network switch feature. You can turn off in the wifi menu.

We turned that off and it still didnt work. we then turned it back on and it didnt correct the issue either. Is a restart needed when you do or something?
Kinda odd that in a home with nearly no data signal from the provider (they use femtocell) that it would prefer the mobile data network over the wifi.
apparently a reboot was needed. thx!
